i have become a proud hd user as of yesterday and have spent all the night to reading various wikis, tips etc.
please forgive me if i am asking you for your opinion as to your experience with your 6.5 roms. certainly, i could read another 300 pages of different 6.5 rom threads but can't keep my eyes open.
this questions goes to those who have already flashed two or three different 6.5 roms.
which of those would you recommend in terms of speed and stability?
thanks a lot for your help.
I'm also after some similar info. I'm got Duttys v3.0 flashed at the moment
and it's working great but feel really tempted to try out Win Mo 6.5
Miri's version seems to be the most popular at the moment but I also want to
know how reliable and stable these 6.5 ROM's are compared to something like
Dutty's 3.0 ROM
personally i love duttys V3, i tried miri's 6.5 and didn't like it that much... so i'll probably wait until dutty releases his first 6.5 rom which i hope he will be working on soon
I´m working with different wm 6.5 roms for a few months now and I think at the moment the miri v8.1 (with SLP1.54) is the best especially with the new spb mobile shell 3!

What I want to know is, how buggy are these 6.5 ROM's?
Is Miri's 6.5 stable enought to use on a daily basis?
If u have SPL 1.54 then the best is Miri's at the moment but if u have 1.14 then try david's as well.... Not bad in my opinion. and yes u can use them on daily basis but Miri's ROM has got some issues with the alarm. Also I dont like the fact that Miri doesn't put even a single ringtone. I'd like some nice ringtones to choose from rather than trimming mp3s.

As a regular flasher IMHO WM 6.5 is still not completly bug free and fast enough for everyday use especially the context menu still not fast enough for my liking even on the latest builds also I think manila tf3d is still not fully compatible with wm 6.5 so has an overall performance impact on wm 6.5 without it wm 6.5 runs a lot better! I would personaly wait for HTC to release a shipped wm 6.5 device i.e. touch pro 2 aka rhodium then have the chef's base rom off that then we'r talking business!
However if you want try then you can't go wrong with miri wm 6.5 roms, davidueck v7 or karmba's!

Thanks for your input guys. I think I'm going to lay off WinMo 6.5 then as I want my device to be as fast and stable as possible for everyday use.
Will stick to Dutty's v3.0 until he releases an update or realses his version of
WinMo 6.5
Surprisingly there is no mention of onkologs wm6.5
THis is the most stable and fastest...
Not a single person using his rom has issues...
The only downside is that you have to install applications that you need as a cab

Ooops! I forgot to mention his roms yes onkologs wm6.5 are stable still some minor issues with manila without it his rom's are great!! however in terms of issues it depends on the user for me I have yet to come across wm 6.5 rom thats completely bug free for my everyday use I tend to intsall a lot of apps so yes these 3rd party apps may not be completely compatible with wm 6.5 but I cannot live without them so for now I'll stick wm 6.1 until the next build is released by M$ and give that a go
I've also been thinking of getting the miri 6.5 ROM but had a couple of doubts even after trying to read a lot about how to flash:
1. I'm still on stock ROM SPL 1.14, so am i supposed to install HSPL or USPL or just the miri ROM and how??
2. Read the article- [TUT]Dummies guide for flashing 1.56 roms; but got even more confused (seems i'm dummer than the "Dummies" :-D)
3. Can i get back to my stock ROM ever...? Again how??
4. Does miri 6.5 v8.1 ROM has the TF3D from Diamond2 also??
It would be great help if someone could answer my noob questions. I'm really looking forward to flashing my HD with a 6.5 ROM.
Hi,
Don't forget about PhamQuang ROMs. They are qualities and well thought out. Stable and fast too.
Try out the last one ver. 24
Enjoy

Totaly OK with that, the onkologs wm6.5 is the also the best for me!
A++
Having tried both Miri's latest 6.5 andd Dutty's 3.0 I have to say that I find Miri's rom both faster and more stable.
The topaz/rhodium ROMs seem far more buggy to me than the manila-less versions of the 6.5 ROMs using the latest builds. Not to mention that the battery drain using Dutty's ROM is insane compared to Miri's v 8.1 standard.

Hey guys !
About Win 6.5 and SPB Mobile Shell.
Can you explain us a bit what you mean?
Can we keep titanium as running with Mobile Shell? But what is really intersting in this? What does Titanium have than Mobile Shell doesn't? And which customization must we use with titanium to be 100 % happy as you are meaning ?
THank you!
I think onkolog's roms are still the most stable one.
i have tried karmba 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, miri 7.0, 8.0, 8.1
finally using miri 8.1, so far ... ok
Miri's 8.1 rom is really very good after comparing with duty's last rom i understood that miri's rom hardly reached to 43% while duty's and most of the other roms easily reaches beyond 50%
I know WM 6.5 is officially being release in September, is it worth waiting or trying the manual upgrade?
I have a Diamond 2 with WM 6.1 currently...
You'll get a better response from the Touch Diamond 2 section of the forum..
Anyway to answer the question, WinMo 6.5 is not fully stable yet (as far as I'm aware) but I find it stable enough for day to day use. There are some memory issues but Im sure that Diamond 2 had more memory so that should not be an issue.
if i were you i'd update to the Hero UI Tochflo 2.6 ROM:

Hi guys,
as far as this is my first WinMo device, i ain't informated that good as you are hopefully
So is WinMo 6.5 worth installing on my device, or should i stick to WinMo 6.1?
Can anyone telle me the advantages of WinMo 6.5 in contrast to 6.1?
Rly thx a lot for helping me out everyone
Although WM6.5 is still in BETA but personally I find that there are really no serious issues can be used reliably as a daily phone.
The main advantage I see over 6.1 is really the speed of the OS. Try flashing the NRG rom and you will know what I mean!

finger scrolling and a more finger friendly start menu. as htc made both available to 6.1 the difference is not very big. try getting yourself an overview of 6.5 by checking out some of the numerous 6.5 videos that are around on youtube.
There is a discussion already here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550436

That's how it all started...
"Hi all,
probably my brain is still in holyday, but I can not find any new Manila 2.5 (Leo, am I right?) interface on a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM.
The question is: is it impossible or it is just that you are all in love with WM 6.5, that I actually hate since it is too cahotic?
I know that I can eventually install a WM6.1 lite ROM and then find a cab with Manila 3.5(if it exists) but performances would be significantly worst.
Thanks!"

why why why why why?!?!? I hate 6.1, 6.5 is soooo much better. It wouldnt really work without new start menu either, the ui and everything. Cant see the point.

I already explained the point. Up to me, 6.1 runs better and is organized better than 6.5 (e.g. programs are a-z sorted, there are less menu levels, smaler icons, etc).
Again, this is *my* preference. That's why I asked if it would have been possible. I know that lots of people prefer WM 6.5, and there's plenty of out there.
Up to now, no answer... so, is it technically possible or not to have Manila 2.5 on WM 6.1?
It is definitely possible. Miri has already cooked a 6.1 LEO rom for another device.
That would be really great with LEO on 6.1. Hopefully one of the good chefs around here thinks the same
tbh, i'm getting a bit pissed off wth wm6.5. i used to like it, but after some use titanium just doesn't make sense, it's not efficient at all. the start menu is just a mess, and the battery icon winds me up! i thought the new build with buttons at the bottom would help, but it didn't. i still support WildChild and his roms, but after daily usage on wm6.5 (coming from SPB MobileShell 3) i can't deal with 6.5 now
leo on 6.1 would be ideal, wasn't really a fan of touchflo until leo, they've made some good impovements
as doctorcrete on miri's thread said
6.1 is way much faster in my opinion, I think others will agree. Obviously it has everything to do with a well developed 6.1 ROM versus a Beta 6.5
amen to that
i just pm'd miri a polite request to cook a 6.1leo rom for the x1 not sure how likely it'll be, but worth a shot!

Hey, is it me speaking??!! Totally agree with you, please let us know what miri will answer you.
As stated out in other threads, just installing Manila 2.5 cab on a lite version of WM6.1 won't work, since it is not efficient at all and performances would be really bad.
It can be done with 6.1 but I think almost all cheffs are moving to the newer 6.5 builds since it's really stable these days

hehe will do, i gave him link to this thread aswell
it's a shame for me that all the chefs are onto 6.5 now. i know this is a 'developer' forum and 6.5 is new/ beta, but for usability, let's face it- 6.1 is quicker, and more stable than 6.5 (even though 6.5 is getting better)

unfortunately, miri won't be able to do anything for the x1 as it would be very difficult to cook for the x1 without actually owning one.
understandable, but unfortunate
let's hope one of the cooks here gives it a go
Yeah. I was really hoping someone like itje or smaberg would do something like this. I love 6.1, and I love Leo Manilla. Would just be awesome to see Leo and 6.1 put together. Would certainly have a lot of users I think.
Don't see why it wouldn't be possible. Pretty please, could someone maybe look into this when they have some spare time. Would love to see this happen ^^
I think I would be willing to support the person who comes up with this. Windows Mobile 6.1 with Leo Manilla (2.6 most probably?). Hope there is a chef out there willing to give it a shot ^^
i would like this too as this 6.5 rom is pi55ing me off now with constant reboots because app not working properly or crashing and it feel it is slow.
its like windows xp sp3 vs vista
It looks good but does not work good.
Personally I like wm 6.5 better but I do see the point in a Leo 6.1 rom.
I always thought that leo wouldn't work well with 6.1 as htc built the interface for 6.5, how does it work on "miri"s rom?
it seems to work very well, the thread is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547278
i've used one of his roms on a friends blackstone, it was very good, stable and quick- he's a good cook!
general consensus seems to be very positive indeed, seems super-quick. there are the usual bugs that are being ironed out successfully as far as i can tell. also, it is being developed, it's currently on version 2.1, and miri is still active on it
Ok, I'll try to contact itje, jackleung, smaberg, wildchild, NRG, gtrab and some more to see if they can cook it... I'll keep you updated!
gd luck with that..... I look forward to a 6.1 leo myself
nice one [email protected], send a mass pm!!
a while back i asked WildChild if he considered a lite 6.1, he said he has some 6.1 builds, but no one has shown much interest in them- not sure where he is with Leo though...

That would be amazing dude. I would be perfectly prepared to maybe show a little monetary support to the chef who turns up a 6.1 ROM with Leo ^^

Hi,
Kind of a long story but I need to flash a rhodium with windows mobile 6.0
I know it sounds like a stupid thing to do, but it's essentially for testing side by side with another rhodium running 6.1 professional. Is there any way to rollback to 6.0 or to flash it with another model's rom for 6.0? (hermes for example).
It's pretty much so our software development team can test what will work on 6.1 professional and what won't. If there is any other way that anyone can help me with, then that would be good. I just need to get this one running something other than 6.1 professional.
Like I say, I know it sounds like a stupid thing to do, but it's a requirement for testing. I'm planning on flashing with 6.5 when they're done with it anyway.
So yeah, any help would be awesome.
Cheers
No chance of running an OS from another device without a lot of "surgery". Otherwise you WILL brick your Rhodium.
I don't think you're gonna find WM6.0 for the Rhodium as it was shipped with WM6.1.
Hmmm..I thought so. Is there any version of windows mobile between 6.1 and 6.5 that I could use?
Hey Ugly?
You can run 6.1, 6.5 or 6.5.5 those are your choices.
This thread has nothing to do with ROM Development and is therefore closed.
Have a nice day.
