Hello,
So after finally rooting my Rogers Dream (thanks to haykuro and all others involved) i finally got Bluex to try to transfer in my contacts from my old Tytn2. The contacts show up as vcf files on the Android, and i couldnt find a decent way to add them to my contacts list. At this point, I stumbled up Funambol. Apparently you can install a cab on your tytn to sync all of your contacts, and then install an apk to sync onto the Android! Similar to Dashwire, but Dashwire does not have support for android yet
Hope this helps anyone looking for this solution! Also, if anyone has used it, any feedback?

All,
I have recently installed TuMa1.3 ROM and have noticed that when using ActiveSync 4.1 I cant sync my contacts by categories like I could when using 2003SE, does anyone know why this is?
Thanks

contacts and categories in wm5
I wish I knew the logic to this omission. I use a common database on outlook 2002 for all of my contacts for the family including my business ones. My wife and two daughters also have windows phones. When they sync they only get the contacts relevent to them. This was a really good feature. Under wm5 this has been lost and i need to know if there is a real workaround. Also applies to calender items aswell. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance

hello all. i've searched the forum for the answer to this, but i haven't been able to come up with anything.
i am running PDAVIET .15 on a Tmo Wing with touchflo. after installing the pocketCM contact manager, i noticed that i couldn't save new outlook contacts in the phone. syncing with my desktop outlook and moving contacts that way still worked, but actually trying to create a new contact didn't work.
eventually i decided to uninstall the pocketCM program and revert back to default WM6 contact manager. i still seem to have the same problem. after filling out all the requisite info for the contact, i push ok at the top right and it simply exits the contact manager and returns to the Today screen. syncing still works.
on another note, i've noticed similar symptoms in other areas of the phone. somtimes when i create a new note and click on ok to save it, it exits Notes completely...without saving.
anybody have similar problems? any ideas?
I have just received my XDA Ignito from O2, I have my old SonyEriksson phone address book saved as a .wab file and want to sync this with the Ignito/Diamond.
It does come bundled with a 'trial' version of Outlook but I don't really see the point in using it if it's just a trial that will run out. Plus I don't want to install Outlook just to sync my contacts!
Are there any free progs out there I can use to do this?
My old SE and Motorola phones came bundled with software that would do everything!
Thanks in advance!
Dave
I have Outlook installed on my machine... and I hate it, always have always will! I only need it for sync'ing my contacts. When I had my wizard way back (in technology terms anyway), the answer I kept getting was NO you can't sync with anything else.
The problem I am having with my contacts (and I have yet to find an answer for it) is that the Diamond/Ignito shows both my sim contacts and the phone contacts. The two lists are the same so when I go into 'all people' everyone is listed twice!
Any ideas anyone?
Matt
I'm till struggling with this. All I find is annoying 'trial' editions of programs that calim various things. When I left Outlook Express behind I assumed I was doing the right thing exporting to a wab file to back it up!
I've even installed OutlookXP now from an old office CD, but it can't import WAB files!! Can the version on the bundled CD?
There must be another way of getting a wab address book onto the Diamond?
Hi folks,
I've recently noticed that my contacts are no longer syncing from my PC > mobile. I've noticed this because I've recently added two new contacts, and couldn't find them when I wanted to call them!
To give more info, my environment is: -
O/S: Vista, SP1
ROM: Stock T-Mobile Vario III, WM6
Office: 2007, using Outlook 2007
Additional notes: -
- sync up with 2 computers, but contacts only sync with the home one (calendar + tasks on both).
- Recently acquired a SE W880i of my brother for weekends, which syncs up with Outlook as well, via a SE program.
I've searched for an answer, and the only one that sounds reasonable is maybe the photo is too big, but the other contact doesn't have a pic, so most likely not the problem.
Many thanks in advance for the help! ^^
.... I take it take it's not a common problem, then?
OK, I've figured out a workaround, in case anyone else has this problem.
what I did on the PC was copy the details onto notepad, then delete the contact. My PPC then synced (as it was cradled), and made another copy of it out of spite! I then deleted the new contact, and it was deleted on both.
After this, I made a new contact and filled in the details again, pic and all, and it synced up all nice again! the other contacts also played nice, so all's good.
Note: I didn't have a problem with tasks nor calendar throughout, so Idon't know if it affected anything (most likely not in my case).
Hope that'll help anyone who had the same prob.
Thanks for sharing it with us.I also had the same problem...
Hello everyone,
I went from an HTC Touch Pro to a Samsung Captivate. I have a bunch of contacts that are backed up via pim backup utility, I also saved my pim.vol file. Is there an app or utility out there that will import pim contacts to the Samsung Captivate contacts list?
bump, anyone at all? I know im not the only person going from windows mobile to android. there has to be a way to import pim contacts into the captivate.
I just got my Captivate yesterday Coming from the TouchPro 2). From what I can tell, I think the answer is NO.
I tried this method to get my contacts from my WinMo phone the the Captivate (I don't have Outlook):
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/move-contacts-windows-mobile-android/
I did get my contacts on my captivate (kind of), but It just listed their first name and didn't show any info (phone numbers, e-mail addresses...) when I taped on the contacts.
Thus far I'm looking at having to move my contacts over manually one by one.
Hopefully someone knows a better way... I have yet to dig one up.
Well, I migrated from a Blackberry and what I did was export my contacts to a .csv file, import the .csv into Gmail, and then sync Gmail contacts on my phone. Still had a bit of work to do since the .csv translation wasn't exactly perfect, but it was a fairly painless way to transfer 300+ contacts.
I think the best thing to do is sync all your contacts/calendar from WM or BB to GMail first, then when you login to Gmail with your Android, everything is already there.
