Haven't been about for a while, but got annoyed with the current myspace solutions, so i knocked up this cab.
Firstly thanks to Emaster101 who came up with and developed the shell, his thread is here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511619 . I have put it together in a cab so that a shortcut installs to the program manager, and is identifyable in M2D program manager and includes an uninstaller.
For screenshots see Emaster101's thread.
thanks man

I am going to upgrade to the shogun ala carte rom within this board because I am still running summiters 2.3 rom and it is a little buggy. There are several apps though, I would like to get the CABS for and wonder how can I extract them from his ROM executable?
Do I need to decompile using a VB app?
How does one do such a thing?
Best way is to install the ROM with the extended ROM you're interested in, then use Total Commander and navigate to \Extended_ROM folder. This exposes the "hidden" extended rom, and allows you to copy out cabs you want. As mentioned in a dozen places, you can't modify the extended rom this way without corrupting it and leading to a hard-reset in your near future. Good luck
what apps are you looking to save?
Thanks that was good info, I just copied and pasted all the cabs to a folder then moved it off to the PC.
Shogun, thanks very much for checking in, since I have the opportunity let me say it is great that you take time to build, I look forward to trying out the ROM you have up.
In answer to your question, it appears you have all the ones I am looking for within yours, I was asking in the interests of a back up plan, but I am simply looking for the apps included in Summiters 2.3 ROM. Here are the main ones that come to mind, sorry for the descriptions in lieu of actual names this is how I know them:
Annmar Wireless plugin
Task Manager
Overclockers
The Softkey app
AD2P (I think)
The USB Connector App
Again I was simly trying to hedge my bets here, I hope you do not take offense.
no its all good, i know mine has the wireless today plugin, A2DP, and the usb connector app, as well as OMAP to overclock.. i dont remember if it has the task manager or not or the softkey app.. been busy creating the new one that is in beta right now... that has EVERYTHING you list above, and then some
Hello Everyone! It seems like I stumble upon an awesome program for the MDA at least every week or so that is freeware. I wanted to create this thread so we could share the software with each other. Here are a couple I found in the last few days:
Minimo Browser - The pocket version of Firefox! Still in beta but very cool nonetheless. You can get it here: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/
FloatMe - A simple little program written by senior member _tb_tb. This program allows you to take any program that is running on your MDA and make it open in a MOVABLE WINDOW! You can get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282913
Do you have any favorites? Please share them in this thread! Please provide links so others can download them
Thanks,
Randy

The "must-haves" for the Wiz:
* SmartSKey -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=41060 (add functionality to softkeys with press/hold)
* OmapClock -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40284 (overclocking; note SmartSKey can be set to automatically start OmapClock on start up; OmapClockPlus also does this)
* PQzII -- http://www.nicque.com/PQz/ (remap a key to act as CTRL or ALT; set keyboard shortcuts; basically makes the keyboard useful! There is a Wiz-specific version)
* Someone mentioned Vijay555's Device Lock: Lots of other good stuff there. Check out http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases
I use VJOKButt to fully close an app not just minimize
Also VJEschaton to do a soft reset from a command.
He provides lots of examples but you can set up your own shortcut to act just the way you want! Map to a key (I use DoubleLauncher which isn't free but others are)
This one is also a fave:
* http://mapforpda.com/ is a great app that let's you do dynamic maps, directions, etc. ... with a GPS option. Really nice and love that price!
Weather Watcher Mobile
I love this one. I am addicted to up-to-date weather stuff. http://www.singerscreations.com/RSS/Posts/339.asp
I enjoy this weather program, it's compact and allows for up to 3 cities to be viewed on the today screen.

if you are a news junkie, then I also enjoy pRSSreader. It requires a little effort to put the URL's to the RSS feeds, but it gives the freedom to choose whatever feed you want.

Copy them to your device via active sync, Install the cab file starting with 1 first (install to main memory), reset then immediately install the cab file starting with 2 (install to main memory) reset then tweak and enjoy.
Credit goes to all in original thread...I just read and found and enjoyed...just passing it on.

Hi Gang,
using the amazing TCPMP 0.81RC Beta only one gripe - how do i get it to appear in the HTC program launcher tab?
The issue here - *I think* is that this great little prog runs off an exe and isn't installed in the 'normal' way as such.
Please help - my neanderthal fingers cannot deal with the fiddling with Task manager and total commander every damn time!
be well and thanks for helpage!
lr
You can go into the task manager, copy the program, then go into the windows startmenu, programs and paste shortcut.
I'm using x button - ans di see no way yo copy a prog and pasting it to start progs.
scuse the lack of knowledge but can ya be more specific as to how to do this?#
cheers man
lr
I think he meant to use your File Manager, not Task Manager.
Correct, sorry. Use the File Manager to copy and when you go to paste it will give you the option to paste shortcut.
i did that - pasted a shortcut into program files but when i went to add it to htc launcher it still wasnt in the list..
any ideas?
Hello, perhaps anybody can help me.
I just got my XDA Diamond and thanks some genius guys posting here i got the htc rom running now and i am very happy about that.
I tried to find a thread where my folowing question will be answered but i couldn´t find one. If anyone knows about such a thread just send me a link or give me a advice. It´s not my attention to spam around....
I installed the task manager and saw lots of processes running like
operaplel.exe
poutlook.exe
sapsettings.exe
rapicInt
tmail.exe
biotouch.exe
quickgps.exe
SIPGT_app.exe
And I asked myselfe if I can shut down these processes if they arent necessary. Also i don´t know witch are importante and which not, or wich you need for doing what....
f i kill some of them, i´ll get more free ram, and perhaps better speed-performance with longer sandby-battery-time , would that be right????!!!!
I also read about the biotouch.exe that is total unnecessary on the diamond and is just necessary with the cube that the diamond doesn´t have.
Don´t know of that is right or not.
I also tried to find out how to prevent thes processes to autostart.
But there are thousands of entries in the reg. so i could find out anything...
Many Greeting to all
Markus
Ok, I tried to search for example for operaprel.exe in the registry, but i couldn´t find any key in the whole reg.
So there must be a other way to stop the autostart loading of this exe.
The i read about the autostart folder in windows but there istn´t the operaprel.exe...
So could anybody just give me a short advice or a link where this is explained...
I couldn´t find anything that helps me going on...sorry
I also found out that poutlook should better keep on running because its the mail client and tmail is the account manager.
And SAPSettings stands for SIM ACCESS PROFILE and is a Bluetooth Data transfer Protokol, so i´ll better keep it running...
1. Look into \Windows\StartUp folder. Sounds like it is the Autostart directory for WM. There is an item named HTCStartup. It could be the thing which launches opera loader and other things. I haven't tried removing it though. You can kill off opera loader using some process manager and everything will work fine.
2. tmail can be closed by launching Messagages via Start then closing it. Atleast for me it does close.
Hi i tried that, but i didn´t write down all the files that are loaded when i keep this files in the "windows/autostart/" folder.
But it seems that it is more free memory avriable.
I´m gonna test it today again and i hope it worked good.
But the operaprel.exe and some other files starts also...
But tanks alot for your advise!
