Okay Heres the problem
I am Running DesignGears Perception Build 9.5 and want to use Pandora radio...
Every time i run pandora it will start to play a song and out of no where just stop no specific time just whenever it wants... I have been searching and searching and searching for a fix to no avail. I came upon a thread in xda that i thought might have some Connection or Correlation to my issue
Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737111
now it shows some steps and thats for The Nexus One and not for Samsung Captivate... Could there be any fix for this because I love the Perception build I checked with DesignGears and people have told me its not the rom. I have reflashed and reinstalled so please don't suggest that and i really don't want to go back to Eclair because Froyo will never be released anytime soon by AT&T we all know this... Please Please Please Help I will be in great debt to whoever helps
Thanks in advance
-Chino
Did you try using what was instructed?
Could try pulling the build.prop as it instructs (doesn't affect your phone) and see if that line is in there? If so you should be able to use the ADB command to temporarily disable it (i.e. it will turn back on when you reboot your phone) what is causing the issue with Pandora.

May want to try Build 9.9 then. Yes the GPS doesn't work but eh, it comes preloaded with pandora and works.
Hrm - that would be an issue.
I'd say read the Q&A sticky (yes I plug my own posts shamelessly) and look for the ADB how-to link. Can open up the build.prop with notepad and look for the line it posts.
It is pretty simple stuff once you start playing around with it.
Just a couple thoughts. Are you turning off your data 2G/3G to save on data? If so, have you disabled wick when the screen goes to sleep?

Make sure to do a FULL wipe of everything when you install the rom. Odin to stock, remove sim/sd then odin Master clear, copy the rom file(s) to internal SD, then when you are in CWM select erase all user data and then install it as normal.
Worth a shot if you are not too comitted to the current install...
I've searched for half and hour and looked through XDA's suggested topics before, so I apologize if this is a beaten dead horse.
I've had a problem for a while, I believe when my phone (CDMA HTC Hero) was stock, then through Fresh, CM6 and now CM7 2.3.3. at least 50% of the time I try to answer an incoming call it immediately "boops" at me and hangs up. Additionally, at least 50% of the time I have to send/dial a number more than once for it to connect. It will ring, click off a few seconds and "boop", hang up. Often the person on the other end will tell me their's rang once but when they picked up I wasn't there.
Now adding to this oddness, unless I go through a tunnel I almost never drop a call once it's active. Adding more wierdness, I found out my sister who also has a CDMA HTC Hero (rooted so I could add wireless tether but otherwise still on Sprint's 2.1 stock) experiences the same sort of conditions.
Is there something I can solve here or is it just an anomaly I continue to live with for another couple months till I upgrade? Thanks to this forum and the developers I've managed to remain happy w/ my phone for 2 years because I get to make it "new to me" every couple months (more and more often, it's addictive) but I feel it's showing it's age and I'm ready to upgrade.
Thanks, Travis
have you updated your PRL and such recently?? sometimes that causes phone answering wonkiness..
I often say I know just enough to be dangerous
.....a search tells me the PRL is my phone's list of local towers?...... I haven't intentionally done this ever. Do I need to somehow flash back to a stock ROM (avail. in here?) and then restore my current after I "update PRL" or has 2.3.3 added this feature and I'm just missing it.
Thank you for the help, sorry for current ignorance

yeah.. there are plenty of stock based roms floating around here.. nifinite has some of the best..nandroid your current setup, flash a stock, then go to settings update PRL/Profile, after everything updates, just use your nandroid to get back to your current setup..
easy as pi
Nandroid equivalent to my CWM backup I assume?
I'll search to find stock based (those the sense ones?) or point me to one if you don't mind.
I'll happily do this 3.142 times if it corrects this minor irritation

New Question:
backed up current rom, applied one above and I'm stuck in a boot loop? How do I get back to the recover boot screen where I can restore the backup and try another rom?

lol.. sorry..
pull the battery.. hold down power and home, will boot you to recovery.. wipe everything then flash the ROM again and reboot, that should fix..
Whew, minor panic averted. See how I learn new stuff, only by screwing it up
I wondered if I need to wipe cache and davlik before, will have a go at it again.

always a good idea to wipe cache and dalvik before any new installs.. git rid of the "dingleberries" so to speak
Whether rom&kernel i've tried (darky, tweaky, hawkish, extraordinary roms, semaphore, darky, cf root kernels) my phone always freezes anytime, anywhere. When i open a game sometimes it freezes in the loading screen, sometimes doesn't freeze. Sometimes when writing sms, sometimes killing tasks, everytime and everytime! I'm tired of this problem and it started to make me so angry! Please help if you have any suggestion.
There are two other posts in this sections that sounds like the exact same problem. Have you read them? Should be within the first 2 pages...
Edit: Ok just re-read, its similar, but still see if there are any solutions there that you haven't tried
Also are you restoring backups? If you don't restore them, does it still happen? Have you tried stock? Have you repartitioned? Have you cleared cache, dalvik cache. Factory reset after rom update? Turned lagfix off when flashing? Used odin to flash....
Need answers to these questions to help further... Always give as much detail as possible to enable us to help you in the most efficient way.

Thanks for your answer. Yes not at all but i've tried and read the other posts but they don't look like my problem but i exactly want to know what's causing this and suggestions, it makes me think if i have a hardware problem maybe, or what may be causing this and want to solve that problem forever, if it goes on i'll change my loved phone cause of this
Yes, i'm restoring backups using titanium backup, but without installing backups, it's the same, freezes, i didn't try stock and i don't wanna try i didn't repartiton, i cleared every kind of caches, factory resetted after update, turned off lagfix, didn't try odin

Well then from those answers i think its obvious what im going to suggest
Try an odin install Darkyrom 10.2RE people say always works.. and is reliable. Ive used it myself. And I suggest repartition. This is because it gives you the freshest install like it is brand new. If it happens then as well, then you need to flash stock, again with repartition via odin, for the same reason and because you need to identify the problem. If you have problem with stock then it is most likely a hardware issue.
In terms of backup, do not do batch backups as this sometimes causes conflicts, instead select each app you want and pick backup, then restore only data. Market apps you have downloaded can be logged using "app list" from the market. Use this to pick which apps you want to restore and it will take you straight to them, obviously after you download that app from the market again.
Also backup you internal sd card on you computer (drag and drop) and then restore only what is needed. Titanium backup should be kept on exsd in my opinion, and you can move the default folder there via settings.
Darky10.2RE You only need to do the odin install the second install is if you want all the apps, but again this can be configured using the darkyrom app, if you miss anything go to the last tab in the app after flashing and it will be there for you to pick out.
Things that can are unlikely to be an issue- is your imei the same? Do you have the correct csc code?

So much thanks for your answers and suggestions, but i don't want to use darkyrom i want to use s2 ported roms what should i do
Find them, under android development, its one of the pinned threads...2.3.4 roms or something. This is to identify the issue but as you wish, if you still have problems then maybe try darky then, or go to stock..

When should you do a full wipe when installing a custom rom and when is it ok to dirty flash? Can someone please explain?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
If you're changing bases it's always good to wipe. And if you're changing roms you should always wipe. But if you're just applying an update you might get away with a dirty flash. Save a backup first and you don't risk much with a dirty flash.

I apologize if this is a stupid question. When you say change base what exactly do you mean? Is this from one rom to another or a version change on the same rom like 5.0 to 6.0? Or is it a kernal change? If it is a version change would 5.1 to 5.6 be considered changing base?
Thank you very much. Again, I apologize if this is a dumb question. I have read around a little and did not quite get an answer I was comfortable with.

'4.19.401.8' that is the current base which is in use by viper. Sometimes it's okay to flash, it's trail and error.
Always make a Nand before you flash, incase anything goes wrong, you can go back to the previous version, like a windows restore point.
A fresh install is wiping data and cache in TWRP it's called a factory reset. This doesn't format the /sdcard/0 so all sd card data remains.
If you were to flash a older base with a newer one, it may work perfectly, it may not, what I do is: Create a Nandroid of system, data, boot. Wipe, then install, then I restore data only. This way the phone tends to be (fairly) just how you left it, with messages, apps etc still remaining.
Like I said, after making a Nand, just flash unless the OP says specifically not to. Then if you have issues, it's a simple case of rolling back by restoring Data, System. I hope this answers your question, I think you'll just get the hang of how it works just by actually giving it ago, not much can really go wrong unless you start flashing things not meant for your phone.

Thank you very much for the info. So now I understand what the base is. Aside from time or laziness I would think that doing a full wipe is the way to go. Maybe I am wrong but I would rather not take chances.
Right now Iam currently having some issues. I basically did a dirty flash of the same version I am on to clear the theme and it went wrong. It never came back up after an hour in the "starting applications" state. After that I got back in to recovery (TWRP) and did full wipes and installs. They seem to go OK but then the android setup crashes right after the "name your device" part and the launcher wont start (chose Nova). Everything just hangs. I reboot but then it just hangs. I just did my nandroid restore and I am back up and running but not sure what is going wrong. I tried the install a few times with different options but everytime the setup part crashes. So my simple question is now another full blown issue haha.
I love this board tho, everyone is so helpful. One day I hope to be the one giving the advice.

May I ask, is restoring the data folder similar to adb backup/restore or even titanium? With titanium I could just restore messages or whatever. Doing the whole data folder could put back something I dont want or something I want to get rid of. With my current situation I think this might solve my issue with setup but I really wanted to start from scratch and retweak everything.
Regarding the base, I cant seem to find where I can check that on the device. It is not in settings-about where I would expect to find it.
I am finally working my nerve up to try this again and figure out why the initial android setup is crashing. I am getting more comfortable now especially since I know my nandroid restore works. Good fun but scares the hell out of me at the same time when things go wrong haha....

Ususally most issues regarding cross flashed bases are problems derived from the system partition, however i'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I've never really had many issues restoring data. Also, once you back up data , you can install a Nandroid manager app where you can restore certain things from nand backups. This is what I chose to use over things like titanium as it's just another thing to do

Thank you very much. I have heard back and forth on wiping the system but had never done it till now. I am still not sure what was happening. in my initial installs I allways removed sense and used Nova. The last time I left Sense and most off the apps. I also 're-downloaded the zip. it worked like a charm. soon I will start investigating kernals and updating firmwae and antennas. Will play with the basics for a while first tho. eventually I would like to try my own. However the bar is set high with venomone.
I am now dealing with sense which is ok bit for me Nova is as close to perfect a launcher for me. still investigating battery lifevetc but will probably do another flash removing sense. venomone fixed everything I didnt like about it for the most part but I love to be able to swipe up or down anywhere to get quickbar and app drawer... still testing tho, I have a full life but definitely want to contribute here... my new obsession.
Hi
Well after making the jump from iOS I've been loving my HTC one and this forum. However I've hit a bit of a snag and I'm wondering if someone might be able to help me out. I've had a search around on the forums and couldn't find any answers so I thought I would post here.
I have an unbranded Australian HTC one. I have s-off, Super CID, unlocked the bootloader, rooted, flashed the 2.24.401.1 firmware and got twrp installed.
I was using the ARHD12.1 ROM, when I noticed that after work a day or two ago I wasn't able to get any sound back after keeping the phone on vibrate despite having the volume indicator on full. The battery was pretty low.
I could send and receive SMS,access the internet, make calls and see that they are connected but I would get
No dial tone,
Was unable to hear the person on the other end of the phone line and they could not hear me.
Can't play music
YouTube won't play videos at all.
Phone freezes when trying to play ring tones
No sound through headphones
I have tried (to no avail):
Using a previous nandoid.
Flashed multiple different ROMS (ARHD GE 3, SinlessROM GE 4.3, Bigxie Ge as well as the ARHD 12.1 again).
Reflashing the firmware, reinstalling twrp and reflashing the ROMs.
Deleting any new apps in the last couple of days to see if they have had any part
The soundabout app to force sound through speakers.
Not signing into gmail mail account after flashing a ROMto stop any new apps being downloaded.
Sound wasn't coming back after flashing a ROM initially (lasted try is Bigxie's GE4.3 Rom), but now it seems to work only if the battery is over 50%. Sound then disappear after the phone is rebooted. Flashing a rom with battery under 50% seems to have no sound either.
Its as if the phone is being muted somehow.
So I'm just wondering has anyone got any ideas?
Are there any other (audio) system files I some how able to reinstall?
Or should I revert it to stock and try for a replacement?
Thanks for any help.
Very strange!
Are you running tasker or llama? (If you don't know what they are then the answer is probably no ).
Did you do a full wipe when flashing the roms?

Yep running tasker. But I've been running it since I first got the phone with no issues. The same thing happens when I've haven't got tasker installed though.
I've tried factory wipes, format data and I think i;ve tried advanced wipe as well inbetween ROM reinstalls.
Its a mystery to me
