Is anyone else experiencing extremely low media + ringer volume with the HERO ROMS, is it country specific? I'm currently in the UK and having changed the Audio*.csv files to Rogers ROM nothing seems to increase the sound, is the media + volume sound linked to a .jar/.lib file?
Thanks
wrong forum dude, go up a level and go to dream Q&A's
Just push the audio files over...from the audio hack in this forum
Thanks, already tried pushing the volume hack in this thread and various other Audio*.cab files in system/etc but these didn't work.
As per this being in the wrong forum; if it's related to libs/framework then would this not be a development issue?
I don't have any problems with my volume. And I think it would still belong in Q&A as it seems to be an isolated problem. Try re-flashing the 2.7.3?
Run this in JAChero 2.7.3 - Terminal:
Su
Lucid -au v2
Thanks Fellas, Maybe it's an isolated case, I removed some apps, widgets, xml files and some db files in order to get the ROM [JACHero] working on my G1 with HardSPL, got burnt trying the New SPL and had to pay the price as I bought my device from a third party (T-Mobile wouldn't help) the new device has a PVT board but I'm not willing to try the New SPL. Will investigate further.

My bluetooth volume is really low on the headset, anyone else have this problem? Im using the Jawbone bluetooth headset on Dutty's v3 rom on my att tilt. Ive tried different roms, adjusting the volume to highest on the phone and the headset but callers are still hard to hear. Ive used the same bluetooth headset on my previous 8525 with no problems. My headset was even too loud when on high with the 8525. Any advice would be great because i do all my talking via bluetooth with my phone.
Yes, everyone has this problem - although I heard something about AT&T's latest ROM having some fix for the BT, but wasn't sure exactly what it fixed...
FIX?
Well if the problem was fixed either buy a chief here or htc or whomever, there should be a cab file floating around with the fix. thats what im hoping for or maybe a registry edit to help fix the problem. Ive read many threads on how the bluetooth volume suck for cars as well. Maybe if theres a fix for that, the same fix should fix my problem and many other's.

Yeah as a matter of fact you can take this into your own hands. The latest AT&T ROM has a file called "AudioPara4-CWS_V6.csv" which I cooked into my new ROM (releasing tomorrow morning) as well. The thing is you don't need to "COOK" it at all. And it is simply a comma delimited spreadsheet. I have attached it so you can download it. Simply edit it as necessary for your headset, drop it in \Windows and add the following registry key to your device:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"AcousticFile"="\Windows\AudioPara4-CWS_V6.csv"
Drop and Go?
So i just drop the unzip file u provided into my documents and edit the registry myself as u described? Sounds easy enough if thats all it takes. Whats the name of the rom u are releasing? Ill have to give it a try.
?
DARN! When i downloaded the file on my tilt and tried to open it i get the usual zip error of cant find the archive file crap. Guess ill have to wait to get home from work to try it on my computer.

If you're using File Explorer select "Show All Files"...sorry I zipped it directly from my ROM and it has the hidden and system attributes set. Even on a Windows machine you will need to enable hidden files AND Protected OS files to be able to see it. And put it in \Windows.
Nope
Even after i check show all files on file explorer, then click on the zip file, get the same zip error when i try to open it.

Exactly, glad im not the only one that cant unzip this file. sounds like we just need to place a couple files in my documents then edit the reg. This might sound dumb but can u just upload the files a la carte that need to go to the my documents folder instead of making it a zip file? A cab that installs by putting these files and edits the reg would be too good to be true. Anyone up for the challenge?

Make sure you have hidden system files unchecked in Windows?
If you using Vista go to tools in any folder. Click on folder options.
go the view tab.
uncheck "hide protected operating system files"
XP should work the same way as well. This solved it for me.
Adding Registry Key

Yes, you are totally off as AcousticFile is a String, not key.
Try the Cab I attached.
Anyone found this key w/ the cvs file really help anything as I don't see any problem w/ the current BT so far???

I was wondering if you could provide me with a screen show of what it should look like so I will know for future reference.

EDIT: Am I getting closer?
Whats this cab do?
Thanks for the cab file but whats it supposed to do? I installed the cab to the device then soft reset the phone. I then talked via bluetooth headset for 20 minutes after reset and the low volume was still there. Almost seemed the cab did nothing more then take up 16kb of memory on the phone. Didn't address the low volume problem in the bluetooth headset. It must be something with the phone because i know this headset gets very loud becuase ive used it on several devices and all being consistant except the tilt. Any other suggetions to fix this problem anyone?
you can try this:
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway
Tell me what yours say for the "SpkVolume" setting ??
also...
I got this tip from somewhere before ... see if this help you ... it's for the BT handset mic volume ... but within those keys ... there should be one for the speaker volume as well ( you have to search for YOUR device ... as everyone's is different ):
quote:
""
Navigate to
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Device
Under this you would find several keys. Each key represents a device you are paired with. In my case I have only 2 keys since my PDA is paired only with 2 devices (my notebook, and my handsfree) Then navigate to the handsfree key, so mine reads like this.
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Device\000c55401c45\Services\0000111e-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb
You would find a dword called name, verify that the value corresponds Hands Free
Change the channel to 5 (my default was 2) 5 seems to work better with Motorolla H500.""
goodluck
Bump for some more info.
If you search the forum you will find a few posts on this subject. I have been searching through them just about every day and I have had no luck in finding an answer. Seems editing the registry doesnt help and the BT fix cab was released by HTC to fix bluetooth headsets dropping calls. I have tried the fix and I have tried using Jetware, I have not tried the registry fixes because many others have tried and said it doesnt work. Ive been through 4 headsets and non have good volume. I am still waiting on someone to find a working solution or a reasonably priced headset (below $100 thats non-stereo) that works. I think you may be stuck for a while like so many others....
Man, that sucks. I never get dropped calls on from using bluetooth, only when the phone drops the calls from ****ty att service. Guess thats why the cab didnt help out with increased volume. i did tons of searching beforestarting this thread and like u found nothing so i decided to post and see what happens. Quentin stated above he fixed the problem in his latest rom released today, 1/14/08, so i guess ima have to try his rom out to see if it helps. i really dont want to leave dutty's 1.1 rom cus of opera 8.65 and his great features cooked in. i love how dutty has the battery status under htc home with the exact percentage of battery life. anyone have a cab for that feature dutty cooks into his roms? thanks!

U don't have to limit what rom to use to have this so called BT volume fix (which I am not sure if it really working or not), just use the cab I package above.
For that battery status today plugin, you can find it here too: http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_BatteryStatus_XDA_Neo_WM5_iM_cs.htm
edit: I just noticed you are using Dutty's 1.1 rom. U can try my rom here which based on his 1.1 rom but w/ a few enhancement: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357490
ok, yes I do know I'll probably be flames for making this topic. I did do searching and I do know this is a wide spread issue that has more fixes than I can count. however I haven't been able to find a solution that works on my tilt. here is thr issue:
I just installed ms voice command and I cannot get announcements to work on my bluetooth headset nor will my commands run through my mic (I thought they were earlier but apparently not). I did try the fix that was listed here on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309822 but that didn't work. and I did a soft reset as well.
plz help. what is the latest way to do this??
I believe the very latest version of VC works out of the box with no issue.
You can check your version in the VC screen... latest is 1.6.19209
Technically i don't know if this has been release to market yet but it is available in the latest AT&T test ROM and has been incorporated into Dutty's 6.1.
Now I haven't tested it yet...BT is next on my list of things to set up on my phone....but apparently everything works.
If you don't want to flash to AT&T Test ROM or Dutty's (based off same ROM) you can look around to see if you can find a release version of 1.6.19209.
Again, i can't confirm 100% that this works, but from other posts I have seen VC works fully on the above.
crap I have 1.6.17913 (the latest I could find) I went through 2 more processes on 2 more topics and they didn't work. I looked for the version you mentioned and couldn't find it. I had used one of dutty's ROM's before but hspda didn't work like the one I have now. but it looks like I might have to switch over.
ok I have the new rom and it's still not working. do I need to init. it from the headset?? if I do then I probably need a reg. hack to make it so my headset doesn't redial when I hold down the button. Also I noticed if I send all audio to my headset (via the control panel's option) the voice from voice command still comes through the handset.....
Apologies if you've already tried this, but I remember from the Hermes Wiki there was a piece about getting VC to work off the bluetooth headset button. It was basically:
- Create a new entry of \Windows\voicecmd.exe in \hkey_local_machine\Software\Oem\VoiceCommand\Path
- Amend the entry in \hkey_local_machine\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway\BTAGExtModule to read vcbthag.dll
Obviously, if your Voice Command is installed via cab rather than baked in, the first entry would be \Program Files\Micorsoft Voice Command\voicecmd.exe (might have to search on your phone for it, I've always used cooked in)
It worked on one my little ROM when one of the beta-testers ran up against the same thing.
I did kinda do that on a wim (not knowing fully what I was doing) I made the change so both items in my audio gateway are "vcbthag.dll" but I folowed the rest of you advice aftefr I saw the post. but it didn't work.
my vox 340 still performs the redial function when I hold down the call button. should I run a search through my registry to see if my bt is using another section I don't know about?? and if I should what is the redial command in the registry?? I would be content with at least finding that at the moment.
On a side not....the new dutty rom doesn't have touchflow??
As an update I did try Jetware at: http://www.jetwaremobile.com/install.htm and it didn't work.
I really am starting to think that the problem is that I need to initialize the voice command through my headset but nothing I do changes the headset command from redial.
So if the announcements seem to come and go with VC, I have seen this "symptom". What I am discovering is that the "ringer" volume level matters as to whether you get announcements or not and the headset in the mix seems to complicate that.
I haven't mapped it out completely yet, I confess. I noted that what you say to VC for ringer level (loud/medium/soft/vibrate) doesn't seem to affect the phone but the phone's volume/vibrate setting does appear to affect annoucements I get. Oh and the pattern isn't the same for calendar announcements getting through versus call announcements.
If anyone out there has already mapped out what VC volume and phone volume settings deliver what announcements, that would be a useful table to look at...
Oh and last bit of potentially useful info -- I have v1.6.17913 and incoming call announcements did NOT work for me out of the box...I had to copy four "update" files onto my device and then it worked just fine. There's a thread on this forum that has a link for those files that you can search for I think.

I know about the file issue and I did try that and it didn't work. Also I updated to dutty's more recent ROM that has 1.6.19209 and it was supposed to work out of the box......but doesn't..... Even when I set it to be the stereo BT I only get the audio from VC if audio was already playing
Hi All,
The 'In Call' volume is so low that I cannot hear the person on the other end of the call - they sound like the are far away.
I've looked at several threads here and on other sites recommending changes to the AudioPara & AudioPara3 files as well as some registry tweaks ... no luck! To rule out the possibility of a bad phone, I tested my wife's touch as well ... same result - purchased to identical units; makes it easier to support.
I would greatly appreciate any insight from seasoned experts.
Advance thanks,
* EDIT *
Appears to be an issue with the 1.90.707.1 WWE ROM that AudioPara3 doesn't resolve. It doesn't happen on all TouchPRO/Fuze ... so it's possible that the ROM may not be compatible with certain hardware revisions.
5.05.xxx.x WWE ROM's do not exhibit this problem.
-------------
ROM Version: 1.90.707.1 WWE
ROM Date : 08/01/08
Radio Version: 1.02.25.19
Protocol Version: 52.33.25.17U

Make sure that there is no tape pasted on the speeker ! That what i did ~
Just checked ... nope, pulled the protective plastic off when I took both unit out of the box.
hilareg i wouldn't be surprised if you get banned for spam on this website three problems all posted in a row. Please search for all your problems. There is an audiobooster.cab file around search for it, or go to the Rom Development thread and go to the RRE 4.5SE and go down about 4-6 posts the cab is posted for download there.
Hi mikemorris,
I posted three separate problems as I see them as being such; appologies if it was interpreted as being spam
I did try the audiobooster.cab and unfortunately, it did not address the issue with the In-Call Volume - hence the reason I posted the ROM details on my HTC as I suspect it may be a ROM related bug.
Cheers,
if its a ROM you downloaded here, then all these porblems should be consolidated to the ROMs main thread.
Appreciate the response,
I have no issue with consolidating these to a specific ROM thread; but since these are the initial ROMs that were on the Fuze(s) when I purchased them, I figured I would post here first.
Cheers,
I found this on worldwide htc site
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=140&cat=0&dl_id=577
installed without any problems (unbranded htc touch pro)
Thanks so much for posting this link. This has been my biggest problem with my Fuze.
I'd tried every suggested fix I could find for this problem ever since I first got the Fuze 11/08. HTC and third party media players, registry tweaks, huge caches, running on and off battery power, turning off equalization, etc.
But, no matter what, nothing that I did made a bit of difference. My WMA collection was subject to hiccups and stutters. Every few minutes at most I'd get a brief interruption, which gimped my phone as an all around media device.
But, now I've listened for about half an hour after installing the hotfix and at long last I'm golden! Thanks HTC for addressing this issue that is admittedly minor for most users, but was HUGE for me. That's how to build customer loyalty.
This is good news. Unfortunately, this exe won't run on custom roms.
I wonder if some kind soul might be willing to install this on a stock rom to see exactly what files and/or registry settings the installer changes (using SKTools or something) and then zip them up for us so we can test it...

It ran fine on NATF's v4.7. No idea what it did though. You can open the .exe in 7Zip and see the files though, so you might be able to work out what it does from that.

NATF 4.7 is a 6.1 rom, so that explains why it probably runs on it (I should have clarified that it won't run on newer build custom roms).
Anyway, thanks for the tip about 7Zip. I've extracted the contents and I'm looking over the xml files to see what it does. Looks like it installs a new OEM_Misc.dll, along with a couple other files, and a few registry entries. I may try to fiddle with it this weekend.
Have a look at this thread ... we ran into this a while, maybe it will be of assistance.

From this looks of this thread, Da_G was going to include the fix in his kitchen, although I still experience skipping audio sometimes.
I did a quick compare of the OEM_Misc.dll in Da_G's kitchen, the file in the other thread, and this one. The file in this Raph hotfix is smaller (by about 10kb) than the version in Da_G's kitchen and it is labeled version 5.11.0.0, as opposed to 5.0.0.0. The file in the thread you posted is even smaller yet (by about 7kb) and is labeled version 1.39.0.0...
I'm going to try copying this newest OEM_Misc to my Windows folder to see what happens. I'll post back later...
Update: I installed this new OEM_Misc.dll on my TP and ran it through my regular weekday audio test at the gym. After about 1 hour 15 minutes of straight music playback, I did not experience any of the skipping I had seen before. The only skip I noticed was immediately after the audio resumed after hanging up a call. Other than that, it seems to be a noticeable improvement.
I've whipped up a cab for anyone else that wants to try it out on a newer rom.
thanks hefman,
quick question before i install, is this cab uninstallable? just want to make sure i don't have to hard-reset if it doesn't work out for me
Works
Thanks very much. This worked for me with the 6.1 standard FUZE ROM. Before the Hotfix, every 20 seconds or so of audio playback I received a skip. It was very annoying and rendered the FUZE unusable as an mp3 player. Since the installation of the Hotfix, no more skips. I played several songs without a single skip or hesitation.

You should be able to uninstall the cab. However, if it won't uninstall, you can always use TotalCommander to delete the OEM_Misc.dll file from your Windows directory. A soft reset will then restore your rom's version of that file.
Can you please inform CDMA folks that this is not for them. I had to do hard reset (SPRINT Touch Pro). Thanks.

Anyway, I changed the name of my cab.
Strange though, the original HTC hotfix link does not say it is GSM-specific. Did you install the original exe or my cab?
seems to be working great! i have noticed however that my 'menu' soft-key for htc music player is not working anymore but it is probably due to a diff program b/c uninstalling the audio fix does not correct the problem..

Thank you very much for this. Just listened to around 20 minutes of music on pocket player (320kbps files) without any lags. Before it was rare if I got through a track without a skip.
Ok, before I start on this, I am expecting someone to flame me. Please, I look forward to your flames. Call me a noob, but you never learn without asking questions. Also, I want to learn more about Android, and custom roms (Beyond just flashing them) and this seems like a good way to get started.
I want to change the volume music control incorporated into AOKP so that if I hold volume down, it will play/pause. (As apposed to skip back) As far as I know this cannot be done within the UI, so if I want to step outside the UI, get my hands dirty in some code.... How do I start?
This may at least point you towards the correct files. You'll need a C++ editor to do it. It's by no means a "flame-worthy" question IMO because it involves really deep editing of the /system partition and is a peculiar request.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1585309.html
I don't think this is the exact method because IDT it's written for a Moto phone or similar actions (wake vs. skip), but just swapping out a few clauses here and there for different functions may work... Who knows! Make some edits, recompile the .apk, make a nand, flash the .zip, and see what happens.
