how can I tell which version radio I am running?
thanks
Its in settings>aboutphone>baseband version. Or you can go into bootloader (camera+power) and it'll tell you your SPL along with your Radio and your board.

Is that your baseband version from your phone? If it is, then u have the latest Radio image and SPL. To make sure, boot up in fastboot (Turn off, turn on while holding back button)
That will tell u your spl, radio and if you have a PVT device

Hi, Need to check with you regarding my radio before installing Haykuro's latest SPL 1.33.2005. currently, my radio version is:
2.22.19.26I
Baseband Version: 62.50S.20.17U2.22.19.26I
But the radio in his site, has different baseband version, Baseband Version: 62.50S.20.17H2.22.19.26I. I notice his was H but mine U. So is this the same radio or should i flash his radio? Appreciate your advice.

I would err on the safe side and make sure to flash the H version. Might be superfluous, but at least I'll be able to flash without wondering...

A radio can refer to two things: either it is the processor/amplifier/antenna system which comprises the actual air interface side of a phone (the stuff that makes a phone a GSM phone or a UMTS phone or a CDMA2000 phone, etc). Otherwise a radio could refer to the software package that runs on the aforementioned processor. The word "baseband" is also used in a similar fashion (e.g. "baseband processor" or "baseband software")
Right now I am running Cyanogen 3.6.5 with the radio and SPL that have not been updated for a while (they are not the latest ones for sure).
Anyway in case I want to try out a Hero rom I want to update the radio and SPL, can I just update those with my current rom without having to reflash the rom?
I haven't touched my SPL, but I can tell you the radio is easy. Same as any flash - rename to update.zip and drop it on the sdcard. Reboot to recovery and flash. ROM will be fine.
Go to Settings > About phone
Check the Baseband version -- If it ends with .26I you have the latest.
I do know, when flashing the "DangerSPL" for Hero builds, you need to boot into fastboot mode (Camera+Power) and look for the text "PVT" in the first line on the rainbow screen. If you don't see PVT, you have the revision that bricks when flashed to DangerSPL

When you flash the new SPL you will have to reflash your rom because the SPL will overwrite your rom.

Ok I kinda understand that part but if after flashing the radio and SPL I flash the same rom (Cyanogen 3.6.5) again without wiping will all my settings and apps remain as they were before the update?

Use the method in post #3 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517593 it worked perfectly for me and yes your settings and apps remain the same.
One last question before I do this. I went into settings as well as checked at the fastboot screen and seems like I have the latest radio already and from what I read on this topic I should NOT reflash it right? About the SPL though how can I check what version I have? And if I already have the latest one and flash it again will I end up with a brick? Thanks everyone for your help.

Don't flash Radio again if you have the latest. (2.22.19.26I) Power off your phone then hold the Camera button down and press the On button (red button) you should see a white screen with 3 lil' Androids on skateboards, up top it should say DREAM PVT (32B ENG S-OFF) <---might be different but second lines shows your SPL, for example mine is HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DREA10000) and if you have the latest SPL then don't flash it again your good to go. One more thing MAKE SURE IT SAYS (PVT) AND MAKE SURE YOU FLASH RADIO BEFORE FLASHING SPL IF BOTH UPDATES ARE NEEDED! Can't stress this enough because if you do this wrong you'll definitely get a Brick.
Cool thanks. I do have PVT and the latest radio, guess it's just the SPL. Thanks again for your help.
I just had a quick question, Can you just use the new radio upgrade without the danger spl, or do you HAVE to flash the spl with the radio.....
does the hero radio offer any advantages over the cupcake radio?
You do not need to use the danger spl in order to use the new radio image, the radio image is just the newest radio software, you could get better service with or you might not so flash it see how it works for you, I always download the newest for better service for me
You can flash to the newest radio whenever, the trouble comes when people have the danger spl and flash backwards.
Another noob question here.
How would i go about checking to see which radio version and SPL version im running?
i havent updated them since i originally rooted my phone months ago (1 touch root method for rogers dream) and i cant remember which SPL i installed (haykuro's i think)
is there any benefits to upgrading radio and spl?
are there different versions of radio and spl??
i know i can grab haykuros from http://code.google.com/p/sapphire-port-dream/
thanks for helping a noob who is wanting to learn..

check your spl and radio by booting into fastboot: camera+power
thanks a bunch looks like im running the latest
the point isnt running the latest but rather a non perfect spl (usually 1.33.2005). doing so allows you full access to fastboot commands and such.
I have the latest 2.22.19.26I radio and Haykuro's DangerSPL.
I want to re-flash both of these.
1) Is it safe to flash the radio and then the SPL?
2) If I decide to go back to HardSPL, will it be safe to just flash the HardSPL while the 2.22.19.26I radio is already installed?
I want to make sure my Android won't turn into a doorstop

why don't you want the haykuro spl?
Ok, maybe I won't go back to the HardSPL. All Hero ROMs require Haykuro's SPL and even some AOSP ROMs like SuperD need it too.
I just want to know if my phone will brick or not, because I've done simple stuff like this before but ended up with more problems (even bricks) because no one cared to mention there was a danger.
@hiddengopher
lol at your signature xD
so can anyone answer this i was wondering if you could go back to hardspl too?
You phone will be fine... and .26I is not a latest radio.
