Last time I checked I had 18. I have all 33 partitions. So can anyone help me please.
Not sure if JacHero auto. does this, but it could be the cache from:
Browser
Maps
Youtube
Market
etc.
There is an app in the market (cant think of the name right now) but just search "cache" It moves all the cache from the phone to the SD card, and cleans up your phone a bit.
thanks i have 23mbs now. hope it doesnt mess up my partitions. i was reading the comments about the app on the market. do you think i can delete the app and the cache will still go there.

I'll try it and let you know - Give me 3-5 mins.
EDIT: Yes - The cache remained on the SD for me. But I'm wondering... Why not just leave the app. If you have Apps2SD, might as well leave the app.
But overall, my cache remained on the SD.

Wow 33 partitions. lol.
I don't think you partitioned your sdcard correctly. Even if you browse 24/7 you will NOT get...almost 60mb of cache. Impossible.

Is anyone else having issues with Market on the ADP 1.51 (CRB43) builds?
When I attempted to download an update to an existing app (GV) it downloads but when it tried to install "Installation error Insufficient storage available"
I have apps2sd and I've removed the stock ringtones from the build giving me only 89% of used space in /system directory and I have about 600mb free on my ext2 partition. Insufficient storage my a$$!
Anyone else have issues with this "Insufficient storage" error?
Do you have the cache etc all running off the SD? Apps is only one step, where it installs the apps to the SD. However unless the cache and so is moved, its like having firefox installed on one drive, but storing your browsing stuff on your main drive still. So youll run out of room unless its all on the SD.

Yeah. Cache is also on SD. Just to be certain, I cleared the cache. Same issue.
I'm assuming your using the app to put things on the sd. I used lucids script to do it to mine. I wonder if something did not get linked over. Tried using a file manager to see what's on the internal?

After clearing the cache and discovering that it didn't work (just for the heck of it I also cleared the cache directory on SD) I tried a wipe and everything downloads again. I fastboot flash my data.img and I'm back to the same issues. Not sure what the problem is but I'm considering a wipe. I already backed everything up by backup pro. I just loathing the fact that Market will loose all the apps that I had installed already (they will all say FREE instead of INSTALLED or UPDATE AVAILABLE). Is there a file for market that marks what has been downloaded/installed?
The tip Id recommend. Try Lucids script for moving the data and cache before doing anything. Since if your ready to wipe, cant hurt to try and see if it does it.
Next do the pre tip I did personally. I used atrackdog, Hit menu and do export, it saves to a .txt file. Open that file and you will know which apps YOU had on there vs everything in the my downloads.
I wish I could help more as far as cache and why its not working fully. Ive had my share of struggles and always lucked out.. which is why I hope the 1st option works for you.

Here is the answer!! i have the same problem, i tried to get out the sd card, and it worked(app installs succcesfully)!!
THE PROBLEM IS: EXT2 PARTITION (android do that.. wrong) the ext partition was causing the problem in the installation
1. download minitool partition wizard(or use a working partition tool)!
2. in recovery(volume down and boot phone into recovery) a, go into usb mode(mount and storage/usb mode) (if you have old recovery, download the 4.0...... i cant remember but the newest what you can find)
you have seen 2 partition and its crap!
3. creat 1 partition FAT32 PRIMARY! and format the SD card! (with all storage) this is all you need on your droid!!!(and your music, pictures and apps too)
4. after that, take rom on the SD and install it.
AND APP INSTALLATIoN WORKS!
Not the same phone but for what it's worth this does not appear to be hardware specific. This problem for me was caused by the Google app sync. As soon as it got too many apps in the install queue, it breaks and thinks the drive is full. I was able to fix it by going into recovery and clearing the cache again on my LG P999.
I am running a rom that stores Davlik on the device. Is it possible to clear the cache if it gets mighty large?
(I'm sure its possible, "How do I do it?" is probably the correct question)

Nice try.
If you have one of the fancier recovery images you can go to console from there and just delete it from the command line. Alternatively if you have a linux install, pull the SD, put it in a card reader, mount it in Linux then delete it there.

Dalvik cache is not the same as application cache. Dalvik cache contains the optimized class files for the applications, not data.

so to clarify, are you recommending doing a
Code:
"rm *"
in /data/dalvik-cache?

I do this after every ROM upgrade... I have added it to Gscript... Make sure you reboot afterwards so the system can rebuild the files...

Can someone explain what davlik cache is? It was my understanding that they were essentially uncompressed apk's, if that was the case even if you had A2SD and DC on internal the internal memory would eventually fill up anyway. Or are the cache files only created when an app is opened and deleted afterwords or when the phone is shut down? Some clarification would be nice

just think of them as optimization files
the reason it takes forever on first boot after flashing a rom is because of dex opt, which is basically building the davlik cache if i understand it correctly (correct me if im wrong someone )

They seem pretty big though, almost the same size as the apk's. Wont they eventually fill up the internal space even if we have A2SD?

well i have about 130 apps (some of which are 14mb)
I still have ~50mb of free space. i think cyan's mod moves davlik-cache to the sd card
in regards to not using apps2sd, isn't the data folder its own partition? (i remember reading about the resizing of the partitions that haykuro's SPL did) if so, the internal mem free would show whats on the system partition.
[i am running on 2 hours on sleep and 5 hours into my 15hour shift for today.....so i cant think straight and i could be wrong)
when i go into astro file manager and i look to /system/sd there is nothing in ther...from what im aware that is the root of your ext partition..yet i dont see an app folder or anything for that matter nd my internal memory seems to be going down as i install more apps...i am running zeroxd platinum..i thought apps2sd was automatic..please someone help..thanx

You won't be able to see the folder in astro. As long as you got your partitions set up right it should be automatic. Are you sure its not your cache causing your internal to go down?
it could be a possibility its the cache...isnt there a way i can move the cache to sd as well..or is there somthing i have to do in the user.conf cause i am confsed on how to update that

You can move the cache over and there are apps to do this for you manually but you really don't want to move the cache over. Go to settings>applications>manage applications and check it out there. Its your browser that stores data and cache. Just clear those 2 and see if that helps your problem.
thank you for your help..i dont know if i should start a new thread for this but i am very confused about updating the user.conf adn do i have to do nething to the userinit...i think i am doing things right as far as copying them back and forth but all the threads sayits in system/sd nd mine can not be found there..its in system/bin...anyway i have tried many different configs nd notice no difference whatsoever..thats why im assuming its not taking effect or im doin somthing wrong

The reason your not seeing anything is cause astro doesn't have root access. And you don't need to adjust anything for apps2sd. If you think there is a problem I would repartition your card and reflash. That might seem like its overkill but atleast you should know everything was done right.
get root explorer off the market, it is a file browser that has root access. that way you can see if the things are there
sry maybe i was a little unclear...supreme i think your right about the cache thing cause my partitions are fine..i had another question about the user.conf..so ill just start a new thread

don't worry about it... really don't
the trouble is that i only have about 4.5MB left of internal storage even though i've set the phone to install apps to SD
As far as I know, the APK's are not stored on the phone. So that will not make a difference. If you are new to android... two things.
1. Welcome to the world of awesomeness! :]
2. One unfortunate thing you will have to learn about the G1, is that the internal storage is rather terrible. No app can be COMPLETELY moved to the SD card, thus. Even with just 10 to 15 or so apps, you will probably be running into the "low space" error.
Are you rooted, and/or have a custom ROM installed?
yeah, i'm running Cyanogenmod 6.1.0
I've deleted a couple of apps that didn't run very well so i've freed up i little more space.... i guess i'll see how i go.
Cheers Guys

It changes your partition sizes so for example lets say you have 3 equal partitions all are 100mb
100 cache
100 data
100 system
You end up taken a bit from other partitions like cache to make data larger
i've had another look and it seems fairly simple.
my system partition is currently 90MB but that's pretty much full does that sound about right?
also how big does the cache need to be, mine is currently 30MB but i'm only using 3 or so. what sort of things are stored in the cache? i've been having a problem with SMSs (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217173)will it help or hinder that?
and will applying this mod wipe everything i already have installed?
I decided to dust off the Touchpad that was on CM9. I was trying to catch up and installed TpToolBox, and upgraded CWM. I did a bunch of fixing in Toolbox and now all I can access is /sdcard/0/clockworkmod folder which is empty. All my data is still there as when I mount the touchpad it shows up in windows.
I have been trying to read about what to do and found some stuff that I don`t know how to comprehend. I am a bit behind on the changes from cm9 to cm11 but understand there is a media storage difference.
So can someone please help me to get back to whatever I need to do to flash a CM11 rom. I can easily back up the data I have and go from there. I am sure there is a link out there but I don`t even know where to begin...
TYIA
I would like to know that as well. Thanks for info.

having just used it myself, this is what i understand happens
if you did the 'complete data reset' then it should be obvious that your entire touchpad is wiped
if you did just the install android, it will repartition the data into the new media partition, and the last 4.5gb into the legacy data partition, this is the partition that's going to mounted as 'external_sd' and will be where all your old data is stored
if you had over 4.5gb of data before the repartition, i'm not sure what happens, but my guess would be that the toolbox is smart enough to make the data partition to whatever amount of data is used and the leftover amount as the media
so now, after this, the /sd_card/ is part of the new media partition
go up one directory, and you should find the /external_sd/ and that should be where all your old stuff is

My data is there but only accessible in webOS or when mounted in toolbox. I cannot go up any directories. It sticks me in one and I try to mount others but nothing happens.
did you actually install cm11? if not, what exactly did u do?
it sounds like you started the install, but did not complete it, if that's the case, just do the install android again, it should see that you have the correct partition sizes and thus, will not do any repartitioning
then just continue with the install
