tom tom 7.9 help - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all
ive just got tom tom 7.9 and it only does 4 digit postcodes, when i read up on it it said it done 7 digit just like my tom tom so i thought id get it but i cant figure out how to get the 7 digit to work. is it sometihng to do with the X1?

I don't have the same issue as yours. i even can put more than 7 digits

i upgraded from 7.4 would you think that might cause a problem?

i don't know but i didn't notice the same problem. i'm using tomtom version 7.910
"i send you a pm"

Installing TomTom 6.032 on AT&T Tilt

I tried installing TomTom 6.032 on my Tilt with the Cingular ROM and I got an error message that said I needed to update my ROM. I loaded the HTC ROM on my device and I still got the same error. Any ideas?

Did you hard spl or sspl? i curious if other people who originally could use tomtom can't reinstall once their spl changes. (i could experiment with mine, but i'm waiting until i have a reason to "fix what ain't broke")
I ran into this as well. When looking inside the .cab, it seems that there are specific models listed in the security file. I think it could be that the name of the device identifier was changed so the cingular branded version could not install the .cab
just my guess...

I used Pof's Hard SPL to load the HTC ROM.
To test, I installed the Hard SPL on my 4550 and the Kaiser OEM TomTom still works. I did not try to reinstall mind you, just see if it still worked.

Same here. I was planning to get a Tilt as well but if TT has problems it will be quite pointless for me.
I hope we get some feedback from other Tilt owners as well.

The TomTom "Taster" version pulled from some Kaisers that has been posted on the site will not install as of now on the Tilt, but any other standard version of Tomtom will work fine on it.

Thanks for the update. But when you say "will work fine" did you actually try it or is it an assumption?
The link I've posted for RK is the latest 6.03 regular install not the taster version. So let's see whether he can get it going.

Awesome, that's what I need to hear.
BTW: any chance Hard-SPL is the culprit in the above issue

Meaning that by installing HardSPL prevents the installation?
In that case, no. I tried installing it on the stock ATT ROM prior to HardSPL with the same results.
As the error states, it's the device ID that seems to be at issue. Narrowing down exactly what TomTom is looking for and "adjusting" it accordingly certainlly seems to be the solution.

I just got the Tilt and first thing I installed is TomTom 6.032 that I've found from somewhere here and it is working. I haven't installed the HTC Rom yet. So the Taster is working fine on my Tilt.

I already had the maps that I bought a year ago.
I'm trying to give TomTom some love since I can't get my Garmin Mobile XT to work with the onboard GPS, but I can't get a map to try it out. Site is still down. Not very good timing on their part. If I can't get a test map in the next few days, I'll be looking elsewhere.
ok, so the 6.03 installs on the Tilt, but doesnt really mean anything because it doesnt read internal GPS, and I tried the 6.032 version, but of course it tells me to "update ROM" (thanks AT&T and/or TomTom)...does anyone have the 6.032 version that isnt restricted and will install on the Tilt? I looked around and doesnt look like anyone has posted it...
cabinet files would be especially helpful (if they exist for 6.032)

Backup/Restore Software

Is there a software that will take an image of My Kaiser ( with all installed apps and settigns ) and let me later restore to that image ?
My tomtom is constantly breaking my Kaiser and I have to reinstall tons of apps all the time.
How about Sprite Backup? Or SPB Backup?
http://www.spritesoftware.com/store...-HMP-IconLink&utm_campaign=Clone-HMP-IconLink
looks good , but I am supposed to pay 300 bucks because TomTom and HTC can't make their products work seamlessly?
What version?

Hi 3UK, What version of Tom Tom do you use? I have been using Tom Tom 6.32 for ages and have had no problems whatsoever. It works perfect and much faster than my previous version. What type of problems are you experiencing?
The new Sprite backup 6 is fantastic.
diigibio
SPB backup. I hard reset my device last night and restored it to its previous state with it, NO PROBLEMO!
Yep - SPB Backup works for me perfectly...
+1 for spb backup. Tried sprite once and it let me down, and one letdown (inability to install backup) is enough!
SPB Clone is better........

Well I must agree, I searched for more imaging tools and must say that spb clone is better than the one from sprite.
@3uk
If you dont want to spend 300 big ones on it, use your imagination

STILL.. It's only 2 years
indeed. at least tomtom from cruise works. IGO8 doesn't, tho. shmug =/
wait for it to be out on an operator - probably a month, then we'll see roms with TT7 inside them.
I really do hope so, but as far as my knowledge goes, operators *REMOVES* tomtom. they want people to use their GPS system ie; AT&T TeleNAV.

It's not the version on the Cruise CD, mate. it's tomtom 6.032, the latest one. I'm not sure, but I think you can extract the tomtom directories from your cruise to your diamond
I'm running Garmin Mobile XT (latest version) on my Diamond and it's excellent. Very smooth and rich interface
there is a supposed tomtom7(check athena mobile 6 forums). though that is not the true tt7. the real one is under beta. and it also has a different look(not that much different though) than any of the ones out there now.
Extracting the new TomTom7
Is someone here able to extract the new tomtom7 from the new htc touch diamond rom??
htc claims its in the new rom embedded and not extractable

listen, there is NO TOMTOM7! and it is not in the ROM.
maybe not in your country, but in holland and england it is. tomtom doesnt release any info and isnt gonna sell it as softwarepack because of all the piracy with ver.6
so if you so sure it doesnt excisist thenw why are two official websites talking about it and verifying it

Have a Window Mobile 6, but....

Dear all,
I have a Window Mobile 6 full version, I wonder, could I install it on Xda IIi like on desktop OS? Needn't new WM6 ROM for XDA IIi?
As has been stated to its death there is NO WM6 ROM for the Alpine. Wish there was but there isn't.
WM6 ROM
As Dee Dee said, there is no WM6 ROM that will work with the Alpine. Apparently it is an issue with the processor as I have read on forums on XDA Developers and other sites.
I live and wait so I can use my Alpine again....
Mine isn't dead, far from it. i have one piece of software that won't run on WM5. Well the latest version will but the version i paid for won't and as it does all i need it to in its current version i see no need to upgrade either the software or the XDA.
Yes i do have a WM5, soon to be WM6, Trinity, but the Alpine just keeps on going.

No as i said the version of the software i have paid for is NOT compatible with WM5, so the Alpine survives on WM2003.

Copilot display issue

Hi Guys/Girls,
Heads up...
I downloaded the latest version of Copilot Live EU edition and the menu display and icons are very messed up.
I contacted copilot and they explained the app didnt support the 1080p high res display!!!???
Anyway they said they are aware of it and are working on a fix but have no idea when it will be ready.
I'm a little disappointed as i am one of those people that like to have the satnav running while im driving even if i know where im going. My girlfriend doesn't understand.
If anyone knows anything more on progress please let the rest of us know.
Cheers
TomTom works perfectly for me

will check. otherwise ill stick to navigon or sygic
I had a similar issue with Maverick Pro another GPS program, when I was experimenting with DPI changes on my phone, it fixed the display issues in this application, 420dpi down from 480dpi.
Sygic worked flawlessly after purchasing the phone, no mods required.
