Hello All,
My provider, Rogers AT/T , taught me they have the technology to provide 2 lines on the same SIM. When asking for the type of phone I am using, they told me that the X1 does not support that feature.
I asked them the name of the technology required by this feature, they , as usual , couldn't tell. But they told me that the Iphone, Treo and other have that ability.
I had some hard times buying that. It look like to me that the limitation is on the software side and not on the hardware side.
I've search the forum for similar posts, but couldn't find any.
Anybody could share some info regarding the ability of the X1 (still WM 6.1 in my case) to allow this feature?
I don't want to carry two cell phones but I need two lines. Do you know any other option that would allow me to use only my X1
Thank you all
I don't think this is true. Never heard of such a thing. Are you sure they didn't mean two SIMs for the same number?
This is possible, Orange here in the UK are providing it and they call it Alternative Line Service (ALS). I believe the X1i does support it. If your SIM is activated with two lines, then an extra tab will appear in the Phone section.
Jack's 3.8 M w/ 6.1
A picture is like thousand words...

Since you have it, could you explain how this works? I know dual sim, where you fysically put two sim cards in one phone or cut the chips off the sim cards and put them together in an adapter, but I have neve heard of the possibility of two numbers/lines on the same sim.
First of all, your carrier must support this "2 in 1" feature and it will give you a SIM that is capable of doing that. You must understand that these two lines are from the SAME CARRIER! Than, enabling one or the other is simple like that:
You are NOT able to use them in the same time! However, sometimes this feature come handy switching, let's say, between work line and some private line after work. Hope it'll help you.

If you have no "Dual Standby" (and with X1 you have not) there is no difference between ALS and two SIMs with adapter of 11+ version.
FYI, you can also switch lines by holding # for a second, but only on the on-screen keypad (didn't work when pressing # on the hardware keyboard for me).
Also, for some reason the ALS feature is enabled on my phone, though my service provider most definitely doesn't support it. If anyone knows how to get rid of the "1/2" icon in my taskbar please tell, as it's useless for me and just wasting space there.
which dual sim adapter would you recommend I should use for 2 SIM cards on Xperia...can I harm mz phone when using this?...

The HW kb "#" working too!
Yeah Xperia supports that. In Czech, Vodafone offers this service, however the second line is by default inactive (so you can switch to the line 2, but nothing will work). Tried with testing SIM card given by Vodafone.
Certainly! Want the second line? Talk to them to activate it and pay, of course.

the new one doesnt show the time!
only thing i can think of is I installed the corporate version...
can anyone tell me how to get the time back there?
thanks
I'm afraid I have no idea - but could I ask, what plugin are you using to get your tcp data? (network throughput etc)
Vijay
it's a program called IP Dashboard.
very handy piece of kit, it auto changes depending on what connection is being used: usb/bluetooth/phone/gprs/wifi etc
O2 Active installs its own Time/Date Today plugin which is different to the standard one that you received with the Corporate install.
If when you had the o2 stuff installed you ever looked at your Today options you should have noticed there were two clocks...the stock one, and the o2 active version.
I'm sure there are plenty of utilities and plugins you can get to display the time as well as the date to appear - though why you'd want to when you've also got both on the taskbar is beyond me :?
Cheers
Ant
i just like it there cause its easy to see in the morning lol.. its a bit bigger...
i dont really know why i have the date in my taskbar.. never look at it :/
i havnt found any plugins that *just* show the time, they all go way overboard
*wonders if anyone has the o2 cab handy*

Er, I do. I got my XDA2i from o2 Insurance (when a fat bastard ran into me and smashed my XDA2 screen in me pocket - twat!) and it's one of the main things (one of those annoying little niggles) that I'm missing. It's handy when you've got the machine turned off, you want to just check the time and you don't want to enter the password just to get it - every other mobile phone user on the planet has that abilty. Also, when you're doing something on the XDA2i and you want to check the time, I don't fancy having to Start / Today, just to get back to the Main Screen just to check out the time - before I just glanced to the Taskbar.
Any ideas how to get this back on the screen? There's no option I can find in Settings...

Is it possible to reconfigure the hardkeys that are set, by default to messaging and Internet Explorer?
Thanks.
Sure. You must read the manual that comes with the phone, but go to
Start > Settings > Personal > Buttons

Thanks, except (unless I'm either blind or stupid) there is no "personal" entry.
Personal is the Tab along the bottom of the screen. It should already be on personal, but might not be. Click it to be sure, and check your eyes when you can

But this is a smartphone, it doesn't have a tab at the bottom of the screen.
Ahh, my blindness! I apologise profusely.
I'm generally device agnostic, so didn't look at your device name: but I don't use Smartphones.
See if you can find a solution, if not, I'll write you a special app just to make up...

That's a relief, I was starting to think I was going ga-ga.
I'm also interested in a solution, I especially want to reconfigure the two buttons on the side (camera and voice dialing). I wasn't searching profoundly the internet for a solution yet, but also on Modaco and a Swiss board noone knew how solve this problem. So a solution would be highly appreciated
Doesn't AE Button Plus work on your devices?
V
Aha, interesting application, thanks for pointing out to it. Yes, it works, though it's a bit a "too powerful" solution (but better than nothing) - if there was a simple solution that doesn't require an application to run in the background then I'd prefer that...
I imagine there is. I haven't used a Smartphone since Orange E100, way way back. Are you sure there's no easy way?
If I was down and dirty, I'd set one button, export the registry, change it again, and export, and compare the two.
Isolate the registry function, and see if you can extend it.
It's possible certain hardware keys are "off limits", they are on the PocketPC. But I have code that might assist, but if you were using my code, I'd recommend AE Button Plus over it any day
V
One problem is that it doesn't seem to be possible to reconfigure a single one of the buttons via control panel. I saw a solution for the soft keys via registry (HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Home/Keys), but this solution doesn't work for the hard keys (or maybe I'm doing something wrong, happens a lot ). There seems to have been a solution for earlier Smartphones with "SHORT_xxx.lnk"/"LONG_xxx.lnk"-files that should be found in the Windows-directory, but this solution doesn't seem to work on WM5 any more. But I still haven't searched profoundly, so maybe I'll still find something.
is there now any better solution? i tried ae button plus, it runs on my mteor, but i can't map the keys. it says 'taste nicht verändern' / 'key not changeable'. it drives me crazy...
hello, is anything new about changing meaning of HW buttons? thanks
Short_home, Long_Home, Long_send, short_camera, long_camera, Short_record, Long_record, Short_VT, Long_VT, Short_POC, Long_POC
Best regards
But I cant find anything like this in Win directory... (WM6.1)...thanks
This might sound like a stupid question but, have any of u guys been able to send touch tones on your wing. I mean like not through the keypad, but like a no. from the contacts list. Almost every phone has this feature. I just thought i would discover it after some days. 5 months now and zilch. Please tell me i must be overlooking some little thing.
Thanks,
I don't really understand the question.

You mean like being able to press and hold the number 2 and have it dial your girlfriend type of thing? If that's the case and you're using the HTCTouch pad, just press down while you're in the pad.

I am sorry for being so unclear. I usually use calling cards to call my home country. In order to do that i have to dial a access number, a pin number and then the long distance phone number. I had an older Nokia 6019i. In that phone
i use to have my dads phone number stored as....
xxx(calling card pin)xxx(long distance number).
I mean all those numbers i use to store in the number field of the phone book entry. Then i just use to call the access number. Select call options from the Nokia call menu. Then select "send touch tones". Search for the phone number as you would do in any phonebook. Select the number and press send. It would send all those numbers as tones.. as if i was dialing them...but much much faster.
Hope that clears it up or messes up the question even further
I found this in a quick search. May it can help you.

This new version, which is in BETA, works on Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. It is resolution aware, so it will work fine on QVGA and Landscape screens.

Seems to be a little nicer than the other one.
Hey duprade,
Thanks for all the info man. Will try both of them. Its a pity that such a feature which is natively available on lower end devices, is not there on a WM device. But thanks again, those applications will definitely fit my purpose.

So this isn't really a "Diamond" application, but this is the only forum I post in, and I wanted to share this so maybe other people can find it useful.
While I was checking out of the grocery store tonight, I realized I had left my "preferred savings" card in my car's glove compartment as usual. Naturally, my train of thought derailed into Windows Mobile development and how I could make my life easier. The answer was simple: why can't I save all my card bar codes on my Windows Mobile Device and have the cashier scan the image from my cell phone? It would save wallet space and be really cool to boot!
So obviously, I came home and whipped up a program to do just that. Any cards that you scan with a bar code reader can now easily be imported and stored on your phone!
Click here to read more about the Bar Code Manager and the Bar Code API.
does this work,
I thought due the the polarised nature of LCD screens they would be unreadable by most barcode readers!
I hope so! I'm going to check tomorrow when I head into the office. We have a couple bar code readers laying around.
Good idea! Unfortunately, most bar code readers won't read backlit displays
Glad you boys mentioned this!
Ive beennn doing this ever since my Nokia 7710. I caried my "ID" on my 7710. When ever I was asked fo ID i just pulled put my 7710.
Sooo yes this can be done on any Barcode-ID app.
Boys time to leave that ID home!
They wont even know the Difference with that GORGEous VGA Screen!!!!
Cheers Bradas!!!
This doesnt seem to work with my norwegian bar codes, dunno if we use another standard than you, or not.
2912340005882
157100395
2 983061310951
When entering these i get a NullReferenceException in RefreshBarCode()
WindowsLessControls.StandardBitmap.get_Width()
Weird, the first and the third number worked for me (try redownloading the CAB). The program really only supports 12 digit bar codes though (UPC). I haven't written in support for other formats yet (Code 39, etc).

Doesn't seem to want to work with my cooked ROM. I get 'An unexpected error has occurred in WMBarCode.exe. Select Quit and then restart this program.'
And when I restart, I get the screen in the image.
Anyone else confirm this?
A nice next step would be to scan the barcodes with the onboard camera.

I have the SAME problem as this. Running Tilt 2 with 6.5 stock rom
Does this require anything other than the cab for download at the link?
says "Download the Bar Code Manager and API here"
What is the API? I REALLY want to use this app
I have installed this and typed the number from a store card. Where do I type the name for the card? After typing in the number in the one edit box the barcode, on screen, does not resemble the barcode on the card. If I type any text in the edit box I get "An unexpected error has occured in WMBaeCode.exe" NullReferenceException
Help!
Same stuff happening here on ever rom ive tried. I really want sometihng like this
Can someone post a mirror? The website linked is not working.
Do you think you can provide a slightly better tutorial on how to set up your cards. I can't get any of mine to work, and not all grocery store cards are 12 digits. Any way you can add support for those?
Great program, I've been using it for a long time now and I don't know if there's any development on this, but it would be great for it to support 2D codes too. Thanks
Ok so the shell launcher is still part of the Engineering App on our phones... can anyone or has anyone figured out how to trigger it?
This is the ONLY root vulnerability that exists for any Tmobile 10Pro / 10T bought after August 2022. Getting access to this shell is critical because it will be a default root, or root permission shell. And because it is for an app in the System partition, it will have exclusive access to the main system partition which will allow the ability to modify tthe build.prop file, at least enough to set ro.adb.secure to 0, and ro.secure to 0.... Then make the same changes to persist.ro.secure to 0 and persist.ro.adb.secure to 0. These commands can be issued with the debug root shell, simply by using the "setprop" command, while running with the authority of the system apps permissions.

Also, ... anyone know what the code is here??? Its not 6776 .... there are several places in the engineering menu that are password or code protected, just like the old Oneplus app... only this time the passcodes needed are numerical.
The only code that i know of is 6776 , but that one does not work for all..
One screen in particular beyond this one is the screen for writing a test message to the "Important" log... (the last bug was related to the log as well... so there might be something here.
to get to this screen run the
*#899# , select Manual Test, and slide to the far right screen. Click on Log test.
the other one pictured below is from
*#36446337# , menu . Select Engineer Network, then hit 'Lock Cell info' ...
lastly i know EVERYONE has been looking for a REAL Full Network unlock.
This code is 16 digits, and is confirmed to FULLY remove the network control of ANY carrier on the 10Pro ... This will disable the carrier policy restriction that keeps T-Mobile owners from flashing different regions, and their device locking.
*#3988691# - Network unlock
This will disable ALL region restrictions on your phone. Please share any info you might have regarding any of these.
If someone can get me thru this network unlock code, I will happily drop detailed instructions on how to leverage Diagnostic mode to enable 5G ONLY mode.... as well as how to enable missing bands, fix your VOLTE.... and Wifi Calling.... pretty much anything you want to access regarding missing features including Dual Sim cards, (as long gas you have the connections on your board!.
Help me... so that i can help everyone!
interesting
@beatbreakee , did you get anywhere with this?
I'm trying to figure out how to remove Operator region, basically switch to generic country region (currently set to Vodafone in the UK).
Used to be able to do it by unlocking secrecy mode, then *#3954391# (which activated a switch of some kind) and then *#391#. This tool you to a menu where you could select your phone's region and carrier (this is on ColorOS).
Codes no longer work. Wondering if it's within the 'Lock Cell Info' section????
Have u pulled the app or unpacked the enginering app from OTA or msmdownload
