Ok, so I have rooted before. I just tried on my friends phone, ad am having issues.
FIRST, when I go into recovery I am getting E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command. Also, no unmount option is available in the notifications bar. Any idea what I have done to my buddy's phone?

Try using the telnet command to reflash the recovery image. I believe mounting and unmounting is different on the older RC builds (I seem to remember it was different on RC7 to RC9). Doesn't really matter because you can flash a cupcake rom.....

no idea You could try Cyanogen's recovery or JF's if you're using Cyan already.

After uninstalling astrid task manager my phone rebooted then started to boot loop (g1 screen then reboot).
I went into cyanogens recovery image (1.3.1) and I get E: Can't open CACHE. I can't do anything it's just stuck at this to reboot I have to take the battery out.
From what I've read I should be able to reformat my sd card and then it should work. Is this true? Assuming it does will I have to reapply the cyanogenmod image to get my phone working again?
Only problem is that I can't get XP or Win 7 to recognise the sd card anymore. I *should* be getting a new one tomorrow though.
I still have access through adb is there anything I can do before I get a new sd card?
I'm running:
HardSPL + Latest radio
Cyanogens Recovery Image 1.3.1
Cyanogens Mod 1.3.6.1
Update - I can get in via adb definitley now, I can mount the sd card and all the files are still there but I still have no idea how to recover to a workable phone.

So recovery mode isn't starting at all? Try booting the phone without the SD card in. It might give you a lot of errors, but might be able to get you to boot in the first place. That's first priority.

I can get into recovery mode but the only command that works is Alt + L.
I don't have my phone on me because I'm at work but will try it later tonight.
Thank you very much!
Try to do a wipe. Alt+w. If that doesnt work i suggest getting into fastboot and flashing the cyanogen recovery image 1.3.1. Instruction are in the thread for fastboot. To get into fastboot press (Camera + Power) if that doesnt work try (Back + Power).
I tried to do a wipe but no luck.
Is fastboot the three skateboarding android guys I've heard of?
At the moment I'm just trying to get a lot of information so when I go home I can make a start at fixing it.
So far I really love the attittude of people on the forum, it's pretty awesome.
Argh when I try to boot into fastboot I just get the normal tricolour screen and not 3 android skating guys.
What am I doing wrong?
I'm using the hardspl btw
OK so I've done some more reading, I apparently need the engineering spl for fastboot. Which is ok but I can't get the recovery console to work to flash a new spl. This is really frustrating.
Arg so according to the spl thread I have the stock spl which sucks because I could have sworn I used the hardspl, I have the files on my hdd for gods sake. So now if I'm correct I'm ****ed. I looked over the Hayuko guide I used and it definitely said HardSPL (http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cach...=35&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk&client=firefox-a).
I'm stuck now.
Last post before I go to bed. I hope someone can help. If I don't hear anything then I'm off to t-mobile to see if I can get a new phone. If they can't then it's off to ebay.
You'll need the engineering spl or hard spl to flash a rom have you ever flashed a modified rom. Or are you stock. Do you have a2sd. I would imagine if your able to get to fastboot or some kinda recovery your not bricked. You can get an insurance replacement and use that phone as a test phone. Its fixable, need some more info.

I figured out what happened. I updated to the latest radio which pretty much reset my spl.
My SPL is now stock but still working, recovery image isn't though, main os isn't either.
Is it possible to flash Hard SPL from the normal SPL.
Try putting DREAIMG.nbh at the root of your sdcard and go into your spl and flash it.

Your computer is probably not reading it because it's may not be assigned a drive letter. Try this... Go to control panel...Administrative tools...Computer management...Disk management...scroll down until you see your sd card partition. Right click on it and there should be something there that says assign a drive letter. Maybe this could help.

That's normal... i won't pretend to know exactly WHY it says that, but it does every time you start up the recovery console (JF and cyanogen recovery wont show this)

Guys,
I'm losing my mind here.
I've tried to install the CyanogenMod but I've run into some problems.
Why is it so damn difficult to install this?
I've spent 4 hours following different guides and none of them are step by step.
The ones that come close, never mention possible issues along the way which you then have to find on other forums.
Anyway,
can someone please help me with the following:
I'm getting stuck on booting into recovery.
I run the command and the phone reboots. however, it then presents a Triangle and an exclamation mark!
The instruction show that I am supposed to see a Green text recovery screen.
I'm having to hit the up volume and power button, which gives a blue text recovery screen with limited options.
I've tried the Amon_Ra's Recovery process and the ClockworkMod Recovery process to no avail!!!
I also tried the rom manager but the app keep giving "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands"
I know it's something that I'm doing wrong but I'm very close to throwing this phone out the window and going back to an iphone... This is just not ****ing worth it.
I've done everything up to reboot to recovery part from this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide
/please help.

mhhh ok. So you probably have no insecure boot image. That's probably why you can't flash any recovery from RomManager....
Try this at MoDaCo. Download an unsecure boot image... And try again.

thanks for the assistance thus far.. /puts iphone back in the drawer.

downloaded the Cyanogen mode via rom manager, but when it tried the clockwork recovery, I get the triangle again... frustrating.

You need to delete the following two files, and reinstall your custom recovery. These files restore the stock recovery during a full boot.

Well, it seems that somehow some people are getting stuck in Clockwork after performing a factory reset...
I'm not sure what's causing it when triggered from within Clockwork, but I do know what's happening when triggered from within Android.

Technical Information
The LG Revolution's bootloader is strange.
Partition 8 (mmcblk0p8) is the MISC partition on this device, and the first hundred bytes is the "bootloader command" block. This is where the bootloader communicates with Android or Recovery, to tell it to do things like "reboot-recovery" or "apply OTA". That's all standard stuff.
However, a few hundred bytes later is a strange flag- "FACT_RESET_6".
There seem to be a few different values that this is set to during different stages of the phone's operating and reset procedures.
"FACT_RESET_3" seems to be what Android sets when the phone requires a "Master Clear" (i.e. selecting "Clear device" from within Android)
Another flag I've seen references to is "LGE_TEST". No idea what that does, but I'm thinking it may be something like an engineering flag to allow access to fastboot and whatnot. I'm not going to be the first to set my flag to that until I understand completely what it does.

It's possible that the manual version of recovery is the way to go? I don't remember if I ever tested factory reset personally. Perhaps Cubed can shed some light on this issue. It appears that the MISC partition is getting corrupted on ever factory reset.
Not sure what/why the option "wipe data/factory reset" differs from "Mounts and Storage -> Format /data"...
I need to look into the specifics of the CWR code to find out why it's getting users stuck in recovery.
Either way, next version of recovery is going to have a bunch of fixes...

Check the folder in the clockworkmod folder on the external SD card. If inside of Revo_decrap you have another Revo decrap folder, that's your problem. You need the Revo decrap folder to contain system.img, not another folder that says Revo decrap.
