New to the Xperia X1! Woo!

Hey everyone, I'm new to the xperia x1, and I'm a little lost. I read a lot about the rom development and I've seen soooo many people using the 6.5 roms, and the 6.1 roms. I'm not sure which to use... Regardless, I thought I'd ask you guys some questions:
1) what is the best 6.1 rom, for european (vodafone). I don't want the vodafone rom, but I would like to know what's a more "oem" 6.1 rom that's been customized. I'd like the panels and such, until I get bored of them. I do need good battery life, that's for sure. Can anyone recommend a good 6.1 rom?
2) 6.5, OK, I know it's a lot better. But one error i've seen is that the alarm clock doesn't work in a lot of devices. Does it work in ALL the xperia 6.5 roms? Could anyone recommend a good, battery strong, not too flashy with panels (since i'd like to use the panels and then also use the touch flo 3d) ROM to use? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks a bunch guys
Welcome !
I am using the UK GENERIC R3A ROM. If you want a nice customized one, I guess itje's "Touch It" is the way to go.
Tried many 6.5 roms, but by far the most flashed and used on my handset are Agent 47's Firestorm roms. They rock. Only had OS alarm not working with one release (can't remember which one, but think it could have been 2.1), anyway, his roms come highly recommended by me
And these 3 roms you're recommending are pretty much good on battery life? I use push email and I send TONS of messages a day.
hi and welcome
what i'm getting of youre questions is that you want a good battery life. sinds i'm using wm6.5 the battery life improved i dont know how maybe wm6.5 handels the background programming better.
so if i where you i would go for the new wm6.5 and you can use itjes one that looked the most stable for me.
Just wondering, I saw a little while back an xperia rom for 6.5, OEM (more or less). I just want everything to work out of the box, and then I'd like to do the changing later on. Which 6.5 build would you recommend that is the most complete?
Thanks

Is WinMo 6.5 worth it?

Hi guys,
as far as this is my first WinMo device, i ain't informated that good as you are hopefully
So is WinMo 6.5 worth installing on my device, or should i stick to WinMo 6.1?
Can anyone telle me the advantages of WinMo 6.5 in contrast to 6.1?
Rly thx a lot for helping me out everyone
Although WM6.5 is still in BETA but personally I find that there are really no serious issues can be used reliably as a daily phone.
The main advantage I see over 6.1 is really the speed of the OS. Try flashing the NRG rom and you will know what I mean!

finger scrolling and a more finger friendly start menu. as htc made both available to 6.1 the difference is not very big. try getting yourself an overview of 6.5 by checking out some of the numerous 6.5 videos that are around on youtube.

Recommended ROM for X1

Hi, I have searched, but it is so much information and I have a bit of trouble reading such large chunks of texts, so I hope it's okay that I ask here.
I want a ROM that looks alot like the original 6.5.
I have "SE XPERIA X1 - ROM: SEX1 R5.07 pure, steepy converting to X2"
however that one is really slow, and it seems to use up 51% in my taskmanager, all the time...
Any ideas ppl?
I dont want that "Manila" thing or anything like it...
Thanks!

you are asking for opinions, that means if people answer they will allways advice on roms suiting their own usage behaviour
for you in order to find what you are looking for you will have to dl some roms, test and compare them yourself, only that way wil you get for you are looking for (or coming closer to that)
and anything else would be useless for you
apart from that: you shouldn't open threads for q&a, forum is well used as it is and redundant threads don't help keeping it in order, thx
Okej, Thanks...
But what I am looking for is something very similar to the rom i am using now (SE XPERIA X1 - ROM: SEX1 R5.07 pure, steepy converting to X2) But faster... Sometimes it uses 51% as it is now

I know, you already mentioned that in #1
it will help to narrow down your search then
Google williyung 826x WM 6.5.5 rom. It's mostly pure 6.5.5 with a few HTC add ons, and it's basically a perfect rom - fast, finger friendly, decent battery, etc.
6.1 rom nX1i v1.04 fast, stable as hell
6.5 rom 10.9.1 rom for eyecandy, stable
vietdoan20062006
Another one of these?????
Hey i used the same rom your using before switching to
(Christian's Rom - Dutch\WWE wm 6.5.3 build 28223 - R3AA Based - "Clean", "Full" And "Special" Version)
There are various versions which i think are both fast and attractive.
also each build has a clean version that doesnt have alot of programs that you might not find useful and a full version that comes with a bunch of programs that the creator found usefull, thats if you dont feel like looking for a bunch of cabs.
also the change logs are very straight forward
right now im using the latest version thats posted. its speedy with a good panel manager and very touch friendly, try it out

why no more 6.1 ROMs anymore

I have tested far too many 6.5 roms i dont understand the complete halt of the development of 6.1 ROMS. there seems to be a lot of confusion going on here:
-ALL 6.5.x roms run noticeably slower and jerkier than 6.1 roms.
-some have decent stability but the majority suffer from SOD bug. generally speaking 6.1 cooked ROMs are just more stable.
-ALL have worse battery life than 6.1 roms
-TF3D simply runs smoother on 6.1 roms (~30frames Per Second VS. ~15-20 FPS)
before flaming me go ahead and try flashing ROMs like touchX, PcTech4U, you'd halve to be blind not to notice that todays newer better-looking 6.5.5 ROMs are actully a clear step below what we used to have with 6.1 ROMs last year
bottom line: if you care about battery, speed and stability, forget about 6.5. it feels a lot like a proof of concept on our Xperia

* i can't say ALL 6.5 is "jerker" .. user interface was enhanced .. "finger" friendly (which is important for a touchscreen unit)
* i didn't also experienced SOD with all the cooked roms that i've tried in 6.5 (following what is indicated in every post by the chef or the developer helps alot) and maybe.. just maybe another factor is the 3rd party apps installed by the user
* yes some cooked roms are hungry for battery ](but not for what i use now) and i think it also depends on the user.. if uses it heavily or moderate..
* TF3D is good! and i agree with that and i will not be the villain in your post but.. users of this unit will find the exact rom or cook the exact rom for them.. that will fit to their everyday use.. not because "it is fast and more stable".. instead of asking them.. be thankful that some, i mean alot of people now do such things to improve this "king of the hill" xperia one and if for you alone, you are already contented of the roms that you've mentioned.. instead of making this post or calling 6.5 a "jerker" (i can't help but laugh) .. help others who is looking for 6.1 cooked roms.. suggest and spread the news..
peaceout!

touch x is there... (will be updated probably this week)
People still have interest... but definitely..6.5 & 6.5.x has taken its toll
i would say i want a newer device, and so newer operating system ...something you can't do in case of girlfriend

Yes but how many wm6.1 have manila 2.5?? Much more needed ...
In my opinion 6.1 is done.
6.5 is only marginally better.
7 had my attention until I read some post by Doministry linking me to info that multi-tasking on 7 would be an issue.
I'm headed to Android next.
X10.
6.1 is definitely faster in general case. But one important characteristic of 6.5 make me never look back on 6.1. It's provide more virtual memory (don't be confuse with available memory with Settings > memory) by opening up slot 60,61 with 6.5 nk and compatible kitchen.

I have to agree, the 6.1 just works better if you use the phone a lot on the X1.
Which rom do you use with 6.1, I have found that this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561555 is the best for me so far, but I would like to try something else until the latest update comes out...

Hello All,
I agree that we are less and less having 6.1 ROM, but let's not give a bad impression of WM 6.5.
I found WM 6.5 to be very good without manila. very quick and responsive.
Do we have other implementation of WM6.1 with Manila 2.5, apart from evilash_leo ? please direct me.
i tried searching, didnt come across ...
I have been using the VERY stable and smooth Touch X 10.9.1 (WM6.1/Manila 2.1.19202517) NUTS for some 3-4 months lately (WM 6.1 w/M2.1), after having been trying WM6.5 with manila 2.1/2.5
i personally felt WM6.1 is definitely smoother, coz i dont like lags when going thru contacts, dialpad, or sms keyboard-response.
I would nonetheless want the Manila 2.5, though, due to the tighter integration with social networking.
Nice thread. but let's not take things personal and just discuss
Regards,
Nitish/.
as said earlier.. WinMo 6.5 alone is fast.
WinMo 6.5 with Manila 2.1/2.5 make is a bit slower on Xperia Hardware. (u all might have noticed it)
WinMo 6.1 with Manila 2.1/2.5 is having good speed in Xperia hardware. (eg. TouchX 10.9.1 or latest Evilash Leo Manila 2.5)
If you want WM6.5 with speed (and all manila stuff) why not change to HD2.
In Xperia - WM6.1 with/without manila rocks
Just my experience. Thanks!
PEACE

thanks i missed that one ... gonna dl and try ..
unfortunately i have to agree with most of the people here. 6.5 is <<< 6.1 on the Xperia.
I would really love to see some of the big chefs here like agent, NRG, itje...etc cook a 6.1 ROM. i think they will be pleasantly surprised with how much faster and smoother their rom will be.
i would recomend that everyone (especially cookers)gives evilash rom (6.1 w\ manilla 2.5) a try

[Q] What is the best WM 6.5 ROM for a beginner?

I literally want to use the same stock ROM except change WM 6.1 to 6.5. Is this actually possible? If not, then what ROM out there is closest to my requirements and still allows the X1 to run at a fairly decent pace? I heard WM 6.5 slows the X1 to a crawl, is this true?
Thanks.
ianwuk
A difficult question to answer, it's a bit like saying which car can you recommend me?
Anyway, when you say stock ROM - 6.5 has not been released for Xperia, so you will need to consider the custom ROMs.
Then you have all flavours. The biggest difference is between 6.5 and 6.5.3. The latter is more "touch friendly" and you can quickly identify them in photos because it has a big Windows icon at the bottom left.
Then the UI that sits on top, I assume you would be looking for Sense (Manila 2.5).
I would suggest going for 6.5 - I've been using Valkyrie Firestorm for a while now, and it's fast and stable. A new version of the ROM - the version number is not related to the WM version number - has been released (v7.3 I think), but try this: http://valkyrie.htc-files.com/downl...irestormLEO/v7.0/x1_firestorm_v7.0.21907XT.7z
the thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512050
Thread moved to Q&A as not Rom Dev

Depends on the rom, but usually definitely NOT true. Try Valkyrie (at default manila is not active, so it is REALLY fast), as suggested above.
I like x826 for performance and HTC goodies. For X2 ported, I really like XPure II.

quote, I installed x826 about 1 week ago and I'm really surprised, that rom is too good!
