u need to edit the contact and there u have the option "categories". I think u have to do it manualy.
to be faster, you can assign categories in OUTLOOK and then sync using activeSync (this is also working with TB and finchsync)
Hi all,
Contacts GroupU integrates with built-in phonebook seamlessly. It doesn't mean to replace built-in phonebook, but work together with it. All groups edited in Contacts GroupU will appear in phonebook, and could be synced with gmail groups. User can easily edit groups in GroupU, by selecting contacts from phonebook, or new contact for the group. Based on groups, Contacts GroupU supports:
* Send SMS/MMS to a group or multiple members in a group.
* Send Email to a group or multiple members in a group.
* Set ringtone to a group or multiple members in a group, including external audio. Currently, there's no way for built-in phoenbook to select an external music for a contact without affecting other contacts. But all these things can be done easily via Contacts GroupU.
Contacts GroupU v1.2.4 is available in MarketPlace now. Any comment/suggestion/bug report is highly appreciated. Please mailto:[email protected] Thanks a lot, and Enjoy Contacts GroupU!

Yao
I love this app. I can't find anything to replace it.
I've looked at Groupy, and Gangbook, but they don't manage contacts into groups like Groupu
well...since we now have WP7 added to the game, I think a software or a method to transfer contacts, messages, email accounts etc...between android and WP7 (and WM 6.5x if possible too) is necessary, so we can freely move between all these OSes or using more than one at the same time (personally, I'll go with WP7 on NAND and android on SD best of both worlds)
I'm not a software dev so I can't do it, but I'm ready to donate for a software/service like that and I think many of you will agree with me
If you want to keep your contacts synchronized between two OSes then i would recommend that you use your gmail you are able to sync contacts fro mgmail with both android and wp7
On another note: you are not able to run WP7 of NAND AND android from the SD card at the same time, as the way android ran from SD before was through a emulator for windows mobile.

yup I know gmail can sync contacts, I can even copy them to the SIM card. the main concern here is SMS messages
lol I didn't mean AT the same time of course but now we can boot android from SD card right from MAGLDR so I can choose to boot either this or that
I'm afraid that Syncing SMS messages between the 2 different OS may not be possible.
I agree with Hojlind about GMail though. This is how I synced my contacts/calendar to and from WM and Android. Instantly updates the calendar and contacts on both OS's.

yea I know, what i meant is using a 3rd party app (a version for android and another for WP7 to backup/restore SMS back and forth) or a dedicated online service or something like that
I'm afraid there is none at the moment. I would love to see an app restore/backup sms to the gmail as this is what I am having on the android. If that can be achieved then I can switch freely between the 2 OS without worries
hi all
is there any program in wp7 that can import vcf (outlook contacts) into cell phone?
I mean direct import without any internet service.
No Direct Import.
You can email the vcf file to yourself. Other than that, you can copy the vcf to your pictures folder, gain access by following the steps here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915664
Then install Touch Xplorer and move the file from pictures to the documents folder. from there go to Office ..... open the file, Any way something like that.
Your best bet,
Connect your phone using wifi, email the file to yourself as an attachment.

For Contact, calendar and E-mail i use Gmail
For SMS:
In Android install "sms-backup" app, this will back-up all your SMS to your Gmail account under a SMS label in your mail. This label can be accessed within the mail application of WP7.
Hope this helps
It seems that SMSSyncUp <forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625378> has done the first half of the job by sync WM 6.5 SMS to gmail.
Could anyone programme the second half? I tried some Android programmes (e.g. SMS Backup +) which sync Android SMS with gmail, but the data aren't compatible...

thanks that's an interesting way
but i want to save them as normal SMS, that can be forwarded and so on...
It would be cool, if we can put the sms to our sim cards. together with dual boot with android, it sounds ... nice
I have one probelm, I used Win 6.5 and used save my contacts "PIM BACKUP".
How I can move to my contacts Windows Mobile 7?
Is there any group txt msging app that will work outlook group. I used to use handcent it use to work with outlook groups but now it doesnt show any outlook group
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
Look up how to sync your outlook contact groups with your Google account, then Handcent will be able to access them. I realize this isn't the answer you wanted, but I'm not sure an app exists that will do what you're looking for.
Hi guys.
Does anyone know where outlook notes are "sync" inside our little monster?
I mean: I have a couple of apps that tell me they did the sync with my outlook notes and galaxy note, but I am not able to find them... are they lost?
or maybe the apps are not able to transfer the notes simply because it is not possible?
I am using for example a free app called MyPhoneExplorer: it works beautifully but this is a bug (maybe) or simply I am a dumb...
thanks to all.
SOLVED
Solved.
The app MyPhoneExplorer automatically creates a link to the MyPhoneExplorer resident app which creates a specific notes app on my Note.
Great piece of software and the phone app is very simple...
The app is free but I am going to support the developer with a donation because he did a great job for free....
cheers.
