I installed the Rom last night.
Here is the (short) list of program I have installed:
E-TEN Dialer (with Vista Theme)
Inesoft Cash Organizer '05 Premium (with MS Money Sync)
WisBar Advance
Cyberon Voice Commander 1.6
I have set-up my Cingular Data Connection (wap.cingular APN)
I have paired my Jabra BT500 Headset
I have synced my personal Laptop and Work PC via USB Cable.
So far the only Issue I have to report is with setting the Buttons.
When I select an option in the dropdown list, it doesn't match what is assigned (if I select <None> it show <OK/Close> as the assignment). This seems to be the case for everything above "<Today>" in the list. I wonder if it has something to do with the .RegEdit Entry at the top of the list?

S; remove the regedit entry from phm traylaunch in the accesories folder. and it will be fixed.or
remove the period from the LinkName (in "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\System" folder)

about task manager issue;
this is the way it works.i spoke to the develepor, and he said that people requested to work that way.this is not a fault in the rom.
......................................................................................................................................................................
tahoma.ttf is in the rom, futher more cleartype is enabled by default in the rom.
............................................................................................................................................
the runonce file is a bit temperemental.you have to click several times to run some times.
the runonce file will only run once per hard reset.it was ingenered to do so
Only one problem till now - SMS Notifier doesn't work. It says:"MissingMethodException, File or assembly name 'Microsoft.WindowsMobile.Status, version 1.0.0.0, Culture neutral, Public keyToken 31BF3856AD364E35', or one of its dependencies was not found.
any idea?

Actually, all I had to do was remove the period from the LinkName (in "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\System" folder) and everything is working fine now.

It is not so important app, so it can be deleted from ROM, I think
I hate to say it, but this rom stalled at 99% on my G4 device. I let it stay that way for 25 minutes before I got worried and reflashed Molski's back on so I can make sure the battery didn't die. Any ideas ?
i would like to see a 8mb pagepool but also would like all thirdparty software removed so testing is accurate.
also it seems that your rom works w/o the ext rom and w/o running runonce but the windows directory is filled with too many extras.
what do you want this test to accomplish?
It works really good. 8MB p.pool is great but not removed third party apps (my opinion)
I don't mind the 3rd party apps
Since they don't waste space (removing them frees up nothing).
As for the Start Menu, I would guess that most "Power Users" either customize this anyway or use a launcher (iLauncher, WA Desktop, etc) so no big deal to me really. I just won't click on something that I don't use.
I am enjoying TCPMP and PHM Tray Launch, which are apps I've never used before.

without the runonce installation most softwate and bluethoth etc will fail.
the point of the roms is to have the exras appa without consuming the storage.so u can still install yours.
another first to this rom is that pdf reader is runing from the extended rom!!!!! that took major work.also most apps are higly compressed.pdf reader is 7mb in original form.were mine is 2.9mb.i mean, how do you make something run from a hidden-write-protected drive?????!!
that runonce installer is ther for a reason.
i dont belive that anyone achived to turn cleartype font on automaticly either.i did.
just a few.....
the purpose is to test the rom so i can find out if is good enough to put in the public domain.
like a said before there is plenty roms up there to chose from.
i think it would be better to have as much free program memory as possible rather than worrying about storage memory.

removed apps from ROM will not free much programm memory. Only running apps "eats" RAM and you can close it. Like I said, it would be great to change p.pool sizel. I used ROM with 8MB p. pool with Wisbar, iLauncher, SPB Weather, and other apps in ROM and my free RAM was about 26 MB, storage about 38 MB
ok, installed and everithing appears ok exept for 1 lil detail...some of the lnks on startup folder r in rom and cant be deleted (i try to delete them and get an error)... i mean...i hate the tray bar and cant delete as example the bt-init to delete that icon among others to remove that bar...i mean...i know that is dumb to delete programs cause they dont take space on storage, but they DO take space on today screen...other than that detail i think everithing is ok...

how do the 3rd party apps not take up memory or program memory
Faria,
what about make your ROM twice? One with 12MB, second one with 8MB paging pool. Everyone can choose which one to use... It should be the best to decide.

The types of Memory that a PPC Device Has:
ROM
Storage Memory
Program Memory
The ROM is where the OS is. There is a defined amout of space on the DOC for the ROM Image. If you Don't fill it up then that extra space is still consumed by the ROM Image and you can't use it. Think of it as a CD, if you burn only 200MB of data onto a single session CD you can't install programs onto the remaining 500MB even though you have that unused capacity.
Storage Memory is like the HardDrive on your PC. When you install programs to "Device" they are stored here. User Data which is not directed to the Sotrage Card is also stored here. The OS makes it appear as though the ROM & Storage Memory are one and the same but they are not.
Program Memory is equivelant to the RAM on your PC. This is the workspace where all of the Apps run and the OS does it's work. Having a program installed doesn't consume RAM. Running the program does.
So....
If the extra apps are embedded into the ROM then all they are doing is filling up space that you normally can't utilize. If it keeps you from having to install 2 programs onto your "device" then it will preserve Storage Memory.
Forget about my suggestion, but something have to be checked, after 2 soft resets now it let me delete the .lnkĀ“s
Did not saw the operator config stuff (i may have missed it), but everything else is fine.
Here is a set of config settings (ppc and smartphone) for all the 3 french operators ... It may be usefull ...
After applying the bouygues one, i send a text message and had notification

so you are saying that even though the extra apps are running they don't use the RAM they use ROM, thats hard to beleive.
Hello everyone,
I have only 7 MB left from my main memory and although I installed all programs into my internal storage, the main memory keeps shrinking each time.
what should I do to expand my main memory or what files should I remove?
Thanks
You may store too much data on your main memory. move all your photos, musics to internal storgae
If you do a lot of browsing dont forget to clear the cached files.
emails?
Are you synchronizing email? Because, even if you configure the attachments to be stored in internal memory, the actual body text is still stored in RAM.
Check \Windows\Messaging for data...
If so, you need to fix this in the Registry, check the following thread:

help!
my diamond keeps popping up a warning that my storage memory is low. When i look at memory it shows storage total 92.05 MB in use 90.22 MB free 1.84 MB Program total 203.84 MB in use 84.15 MB free 119.69 MB.
What gives? What is eating up that storage total? I only have a few apps installed (Registry Edit, Dashwire, Advanced Config, google maps, wmwifirouter, app to date, diamond tf3d config and .net 3.5.) This is on a Sprint Diamond.
do you downloud video from youtube player ?
they say that youtube player have somesort of bug that stores all caches (video) on window folder and you cant delete it or find it
someone correct me if im wrong !
um not really only a few timmes have i used youtube.

bro im having EXACT same prom with the same programs loaded...its almost unuseable at ths point wtf i cannot find these memory hogs and ive searched almost entire windows directory too
A great little app. I found is "Memory Monger" (do a search for the thread with a download). It graphically shows what's in your memory (internal or main). I used it to see which were the big files and moved them to internal storage and made shortcuts in their original folders.
Rob
hey thanks! i will try it.
too late? maybe, but here goes. I found the solution to MY problem with low "storage memory". I had to first do a soft reset because I didn't even have enough free to launch Opera (only .02MB free!). Once i soft reset, i could launch Opera and proceed to clear cache, cookies, and history. after that, it freed up 23MB!! I'm back in business now. Hope this helps someone else besides me!
I'm finding the memory management in my MDA compact iv very frustrating. I know it's not phone specific but more to do with how windows itself manages the memory but it's annoying to have 8Gb of internal memory available yet i can't run my youtube app because i have less than 8mb (in fact i'm down to 2.84Mb) of free storage memory and down to 22.02Mb of program memory!
Some of the applications i've installed, i read that they couldn't be installed on internal memory or else they wouldn't work so that too decreases the amount of memory available for applications such as youtube.
Does anyone know of any workarounds for better memory management? i'm now considering a new "lite" rom installation but didn't really want to mess around with that as i've not tried it before.
cheers all.
Ever tried Oxios Hibernate?
http://www.oxios.com/memory/
You have set the "X" button to close programs rather than minimise I presume?? No point having lots of programs running in the background unless absolutely neccessary.
BTW, most programs will run from the Int Storage....just try them at install (if they definately don't allow you to install there, then they won't let you!!) Of course, if your not happy with them running from Int Stor then remove them and install to your device
i have all programs closed down but still am low on memory.....the only option now really is to do a hard reset, re-install my progs to the internal and see what does or doesn't work from there........
hello, i brought a tsm 500 (qtek 2020) in 2006.
At the time it had the original windows 2003 SE installed on it. I installed WM05 and i lost an important program.
In settings/memory i had an option to transfer memory from program memory to storage memory in order to increase the storage memory.
For example I have only 15MB of storage memory available and 64 MB of program memory.
After installing all kind of applications (on the SD card) my storage memory has critically decreased to 1.6 MB but I have 25 MB of program memory free.
Do you know what application I'm talking about?
It allows you to transfer memory from storage memory to program memory and reverse.
Two things
1 - this is in the wrong forum, you obviously have a Himalaya, not an Alpine.
2 - i think the application in question is specific to WM2003. WM5 handles it's memory differently, i think.
Evening all,
I'm running a Tytn II with a standard Orange UK WM6.1 ROM, have done so for about a year with minimal problems.
This evening it's started with an error in the tasks/ to do list - 'No program memory available, tap start > settings... etc'.
Numerous soft resets haven't solved it; I haven't yet tried a hard reset although obviously this is on the cards if I can back it up. I also can't access the bootloader screen.
Edit: when it comes up with this error I check the task manager to find that nothing in particular is running. And it's the same very time I try to start the tasks list. Grrr. Interestingly, on the home screen, it clearly recognises that there are tasks (7 active, 1 high priority), but I can't access them
Sooo... anyone had this problem or any pointers on how to fix it, other than trying a hard reset?
Ta
not sure...but you might want to check how much free storage space is remaining on the device. goto Settings->System->Memory and report back the amount of "Free" space available under the "Storage" and "Program" columns.
if free storage space is low, try to delete unnecessary files from the device (or move these unnecessary files to the storage card). uninstalling unneeded programs will also help free up some storage space.
I've gotten these sorts of errors while browsing if Opera tries to cache more data than there is space available. Definitely double check you available space like ASCIIker said.
Storage space free is 41MB; program memory is 53MB (32MB used)
Update: Just did SPBackup and a hard reset. Good news - it did the hard reset. Bad news, I still have the same problem. Argggh!!
OK, update on that - the tasks and calendar no longer work, and rebooting brings up a message that there's an error with cprog.exe.
Gah!
