Everybody uses thier phone differently, and since each radio is different and will affect the battery differently based on how you use your phone, there is no real way to say one radio is better then another. That is something you will have to find for yourself. You may also want to make sure you use the recommended radio that the cook recommends. Check out the ultimate radio thread and see what others have used.

Himalaya's Radio

Just want to inform to whom wants to upgrade their Himalaya's Radio. As my experience i have test almost all Radio version as below:
V1.17 Quite good for Himalaya but sometimes when i sent the SMS it says Undelivery but the recipient has receive our SMS.
V1.18 & 19 Quite good as well bec it suck less baterry than 1.17, but flight mode not good at all when u tune off flight mode ur need to restart ur device. Now i'm using Radio V1.19.
how about 1.08? it said use to be the best for wm6..
but i'm using 1.17 myself coz of battery effect
so whats the best radio version?
whats the best radio version for BATTERY SAVINGS?
whats the best radio version for SIGNAL RECEPTION?
whats the best radio for FUNCTIONALITY, eg. flight mode on and off?
overall whats your best radio version that you could recommend?
i am using had experienced two radio versions.
v 1.08 - very draining on battery of you have a weak signal.
v 1.17 - looks ok but i still want more battery life, i am even using an EXTENDED 3600 mAH battery and under heavy use, approx 80-90 sms per hour for 10 hours, i still charge every night.

Touch Diamond Battery Problem

Hi, I just got my diamond 3 days ago and it seems to be having some battery problems, even when on standby it drains very fast, how long should the diamond last on a single charge (on standby, talk time, with wifi, or bluetooth) is there a benchmark to compare with.
the battery is just 900mha, like Nokia N95, so it is a bit underpowered, I suggest you to activate all energy saving tips through the program "Advance Config" and if you don't use/need UMTS & GPRS just fix your phone to don't discover automatically GPRS (always through Advance Config) and to GSM band (setting > phone > band), these reduce battery consumption.
bye,
davide
thanks, I'll try that, but even when not in use, the battery drains 20% to 30% per hr. tried it 3 time, same result, doesn't even reach 4 hrs of standby time
really strange... in any case your battery should go better after some cycles, wait at least 2/3 weeks before care
It's because the battery (like so many other aspects of this phone) sucks.
I got the new extended battery but that's useless too. It comes with a new cover for the phone but the battery itself is just twice as fat, so you end up with a 'sleek' phone that has a hunchback sticking out of it very awkwardly.
yep, I don't like the new battery, it makes a different phone
I have followed most of the battery saving advice that the usual programs can set up for you. I would say my phone, if its *just* standby can go 24 hours with just losing one "pin" on the battery meter. That means no calls, no peeking at the screen, no sms or otherwise communication. Since its hard to do this I have just tried 24 hours. If left on true standby I would say the battery would last for days.
I have a car charger and plug the Diamond into it while driving and in the office it sits in a cradle, at least I do not have to look for it under a pile of documents when it rings. Plus it serves as a fancy clock too!
The battery bar goes rarely below 70% while not plugged in.
3G and WiFi are extremly power hungry so do not expect hours of entertainment while they are on.
Fat battery is a bad road to take, I remember old Axim X51v (also HTC) with a 2.2Ah battery, it was like a brick. It is better to have a couple of small batteries rather than one big one obviously unless you want to play games on a transatlantic flight or go hiking for a long weekend.
One thing to remember is that your runtime grows faster than the battery capacity which is caused by the fact that at a slower rate of discharge the battery has a higher capacity, so if the 1350mAh battery is not too big it may be a worthwhile choice, I would expect the runtime to go up by between 75-100%. I just wonder how much longer will it take to charge and also you can say goodbye to most of the protective cases.

Buy a solar panel for mini usb and glue on the back of the diamond, then you will have infite standby time when left in the sun

I am using the Customised Comms manager and that's made a massive difference, basically 3G, Bluetooth and WiFi are off unless I need to use them.
I charged last night for the first time in 3 days, making calls and playing around in between

want one!!!
i get about 1.5 days outta my battery....
only running on 2g with light sensing on 20 or more sms a day with maybe an hour of phone calls all up.
i'll copy-paste my answer from an another thread:
using yr phone in a place where the reception is not good will drain yr battery faster.
i can add (there is a relation) that the level of radiation that any phone is emitting it is also higher when reception it is not strong enough. i've seen it demonstrated yesterday. entering in yr car double the level of radiation, in an elevator the radiation increases 10 folds! yr phone tries to connect and that's energy consuming and radiation emitting (electromagnetic).
i guess that you bought yr phone not too long ago. i know it sounds strange but after a few cycles yr battery's life is going to improve and i am not the only one to observe it.
don't stop the charging when the battery icon is full. i learned using a wall charger with LED (red for charging, green for charged) that after diamond's icon said 100% the charging continues for at least 30 minutes more (the led was not fully green but was blinking red-green).
from my experience u can use all power management option from shap's advanced configuration without loosing yr connectivity. i can not tell u what those option are but after using all i can tell that diamond's battery life improved.
with only 2G and some e-mailing downloading and checking this forum a few times my battery last for 1.5 days. of course their is also 1-1.5 hours of phone calls.
don't expect yr battery to last if you are using yr diamond as an entertainment center (movies and mp3) or as a battery only powered GPS navigator. i am using my GPS in my car always connected to my car charger.
I'm thinking about buying something like that to solve the problem :

Hi
Rom 1.37.707.1
Radio 1.00.25.03
I'm not yet sure what the problem was, but it has something to do with the sim card that I'm using, the sim stop receiving signal and I tried another sim. The battery life improved and now It last more than a day.
thanks,
battery life

I am getting about 48 hours (I probably talk less than 30 minutes in that time). Using default x04ht rom on diamond with radio 1.00.25.05 (just flashed to 1.08.25.20 and getting about the same). Charge every day isn't bad, but every 1.5 to 2 days for a device like this; no complaints.

Diamond battery Life With Extended battery Pack

Hi i have a diamond with the official Htc Extended Battery Pack .... and the thing give me only juice for 3/4 of a day ....with moderate use .... Is it my ROM and radio ??
ROM :1.93.0.0 (Official)
SPL(Original)
Radio:1.00.25.05 (Official)
As you can see i have not flashed the deivce .... but in order to improve my battery liife , I am willing to take that step.
I dont think it makes much of a difference. The Diamond has a powerful processor and the battery doesnt suite the phone except that it makes it thin. If you dont mind a little thickness, buy a larger battery.
I think thats the only way to go.
I think he is saying that he already has a 1350mAh Battery Extension attached, and with this battery he gets only 3/4 of a day.
That seems to short for me. Since 900mAh almost lasts 2 days....
Anyone else can give his opinion about BP270 1350mAh?
I think it matters whether you are using push email or not. Or, even just checking mail automatically on a regular basis. Signal is also an issue. If you don't check mail and have a strong signal, you'll get good battery life. If you're like me and check 2 accounts and work in a basement, better have the charger at your desk

Hey,
I have the same problem here... I have an extended battery too, and it only last me for about 3/4 of a day as well, which was better then the original battery which only lasted of 1/2 a day... The only thing that I'm using the phone for is a couple of text messages, and like 1hr of talk time a day... I'm also having problem getting GPS to lock with this extended battery. I did some search and some people said that it's the phone, that we might have a defective phone... Because I tried everything, every radio, battery fix, tweek... But if anyone can help, I will donate as a thank you.
With radio rom 1.09.25.23
and Rom v. 2.03.401.2
my 900mAh battery ,provide me about 2,5-3 days without charging with moderate use

I get about 2 days with rather moderate usage, find that if i turn off 3G by default i get more, i also find that my call quality is better here on GSM. I'm running Dutty's v4 ROM & 1.08.25.20 Radio.
To turn off 3G
start menu/settings/connections/comm manager
then change 3G to off.
Good luck!
Steve
After flashing the new 2.03 ROM I noticed, that my battery drained really quickly (compared to older ROMs).
After running Advanced Config, I noticed, that all the power saving features are disabled. Before enabling them the phone used to go from 100% charge in the evening to ~80% in the morning (without any usage, of course).
After applying the power saving features it only loses ~5% during the night.
With moderate usage I get about 3-4 days without charging. Without these settings I used to get only get ~2 days...
ROM version 2.03
Radio 1.00.25.08
2 different devices
I think we face two situations ! The duration of over 2 days and those lasting less than a day! Why?
In my case for example as any in the home do not fall below 100 mA. When Kaiser was consuming only 14 mA
Rom 1.93.831.1
Radio 1.00.25.08
And my battery survive only 12 hours.
i tried a lot of radio version but no luck...do i have the right ROM????
Moderate
I think we should define what "moderate usage" means lol
Mine last 2 days
I don't think 1 hour a day of talk is moderate.
I have found that it seems that some softwares are very power hungry. For exemple klaxon from this forum works perfect but when I use g-clock from this forum too for the same usage, it doesn't work because my battery is empty the next morning lol. Coreplayer is suprisingly low power hungry but allreader+ ask a lot from the battery.
I don't use push mail but 3g and I only enable wifi when needed. I have seen here some softwares that keep gps alive too and this must be power consimming too.

Radio poor perfomance

hi all, i am tired of my kaiser battery life and gps fix, i live in Viña del mar chile, a work mate have a SE Xpheria and saw my Kaiser and ask for how long the battery stand, an i response "with luck 2 days" and his say "my gone for almost 8", somes times my GPS even dont lock or take like 5 min, he said its lock in few seconds...
i dont use my kaiser to much, like 2 o 3 hrs of edge conextion, no calls of all, no video playing, no sound or music, etc, and the screen very dimm, even when i dont use EDGE i put kaiser on Fly mode!!!, i am using WinMO 6.1 on an official lastest HTC Spanish based ROM (OWN Cooked) with the original ROM radio 1.65.17.56
i wanna try changing the radio but i dont know what is the better (they are somany!!!!)
Regards!
the radio won't really affect it......sounds like you need a new battery
well ill change the radio to 1.70.xxxx and gps fix really fast, i am testing battery life now
any advice about good baterry life/gps fix radio??? dont care about phone quality i dont use it xD
I'm using 1.71.09.01 eMo, and I'm very satisfied with the performance of the radio in all aspects.

After taking my phone off of charge around 0200 daily, I typically have around 60-80% left of battery life at 1645. This is with 10-12 calls a day, and email pulling down every 45 miniutes on 4 accounts, (gmail, hotmail, roadrunner, softhome), and an exchange partnership established with Mail2Web updating every 30 miniutes. I actively surf the internet for about 30 miniutes a day using my phone, and play 6-8 games of solitaire.

Really depends on what radio you use also..
but I found Topix to be good on battery.
Turning off 3G will save you alot of battery, and putting your back light onto auto or turning it right down.
How much battery do you get currently?
I think that auto backlight use a lot of power because the light captor is always on. So, i recommend you to set the backlight to about 25 percent and to disable 3G when you don't use it. There are a lot of tip you can find yourself by exploring your Blackstone a little more
hm, i have to charge the phone every night, and almost every day it runs out of power.
The wifi is almost always off. Backlight is manualyset to lov on batt.
The 3g is in use, and have push mail on.
If this is the reason for battery is lov, i really cant have this phone. Im getting bored of running out of battery if im out on the town, or if i want to lisen to music.
Push mail can be problematic.
So, every HTC user who really enjoys his phone has to charge it every night.

Try for a few days like 4 or 5, than you will observe that battery usage is good. Usage is always higher with WM 6.5 than stock.
I was also having battery consumption problems; i have been doing some test and there are some things to take into cosideration:
- If you've been tying Android you must hard reset because it can mess up battery usage.
- Radio 17....... is giving some people (me for example) high battery usage so i've downgraded to 15...
- With radio 15 and Energy Rom (wm6.5 + sense 2.1) with no mail running or any apps istalled, batt is excellent; good for 2 or 3 days no prob.
- I added my gmail account with sync every 5mins and battery usage stills seems to be more than reasonable.
- I have now added my hotmail account using push and i'll report back to see what the results have been.
- It is also a good idea to recalibrate the battery; let your phone run it all the way down until it switches off, then put it on charge for a whole night (without turning it on), this should recalibrate the battery drivers.
Good luck!!!!

Thats my routine too... but only because i use my phone as a music player... A LOT!!!...
during normal "light" use (couple brief calls, some SMS, emails and Twitter updates through 3G, Wi-fi off, bluetooth headset On) my battery can last 2 days with 15 or 10% left at the end of the second day...
the two things i saw that "corrode" battery energy are:
-Wi-Fi
-Music/Video Player (Manilla, WMP or whatever)
Data connection through 3G or Edge are also consuming... but if using few and brief times during the day the impact on battery duration is low...
Sorry to sound extremely sad...but I tried all the ROMS etc for batt life.
Love the Energy ROMS...my fav all time! But just found batt life drained too fast (plus memory slowly creeps up too high)!
So, I went back to the ROM that just gives me the best performance and batt life...Dutty's 6.5 R15...yes I know, the same one Moses used, but just too stable and functional not to have!!
I can go 4 days with normal daily use!
