DOwnGRAde? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I've upgraded to wm 6.5 from wm 6.1 and recently i have problems encountered:
1. My battery dried up so fast.
2. My software keyboard keys stuck up (esp. -Del- button)
3. It automatically adjust my backlight settings even if its batt full.
4. My email setup gone even if it appears on my screen.
5. It hangs from time to time.
I would like to downgrade it (reformat the device as i may say), can somebody tell me how to downgrade my device step by step?
thanks a lot guys.

Well you upgraded it so you can downgrade it. Exact same procedure, just download your ROM of choice, and run the installer.

haven't you thought that i'm not the one who did the procedure?
neweiz, i'd rather search for it in here since no one is replying then.

Just download the ROM of your choice and thats it.

Kaiser sleep function does strange things... (FIXED)

After I did a hard reset, a strange problem appeared.
When I press the power button to put the device in sleep, it does, but after 4-5 seconds it automaticly switches back on.
I tried several things such as soft resetting the device, close all running programs and even another hard reset, but it won't work. I didn't install any programs so far...
More information about my ROM version etc.

i see you have already tried the following but i'm going to write down how i would go about debugging the problem anyway. first, i would try the following steps in the following order to ensure it is not a software issue (it seems you have already eliminated the possibility that this is a software issue):
0. ensure you are using the correct hard SPL for your ROM. if you have never flashed a custom ROM and if you are using the ROM that came with your phone factory installed, you need not worry about this step or step 2 onwards
1. hard reset your phone and check the behavior of the sleep button BEFORE installing ANY of your favorite cabs and software...you have already done this
2. it is recommended to re-download the ROM image and re-flash it to minimize the possibility of a corrupted download or a bad flash
3. it is also recommended to hard reset your phone immediately after flashing the ROM at the point where it says "tap here to begin", i.e. before the screen alignment wizard
4. once again, test the behavior of the sleep button BEFORE installing ANY of your favorite cabs and software
now lets assume it is a hardware issue...here is a nugget of information that might help you. i remember reading a thread here started by a person who described a problem very similar to yours. it involved a "stuck" camera button. you see, the camera button is TWO-stage...and if the half-press stage is "stuck", your phone will never go to sleep properly. search for this thread for more information.
finally, if this is indeed a hardware issue, it seems strange that it appeared only after you did that very first hard reset...but life is full of coincidences !
good luck!
thanks for your suggestions, I will try them and post results.
no success
I tried the things you suggested, but it doesn't work. I also tried the power button when it says "tap your device..." but the device woke up after 4-5 seconds also.
I checked my buttons (especially the camera button, but that one seems to be well... I can feel the two "clicks" and I can take a picture in a normal way)
I'm thinking it might be a ROM problem or something like that... (but my problem is, if I want to go back to the previous official HTC ROM, the 6.0 one, I probably have to use HardSPL, but I don't like that much because of warranty...)
Ok other question... Can I install the Dutch Vodafone ROM on a non-branded HTC device, or could I get VendorID errors or something similar if I want to keep the original SPL?
fixed!
Ok, I fixed it after installing HardSPL 3.29 and flashing the latest WWE ROM...
Now my power button works perfectly!

Please Help me to downgrade to WM2003

Hi, I have HTC Blue Angel running WM6.5 and find that it struggles to run at this level, i am looking to downgrade to the original wm2003 that it came with, I am on Orange UK
Current Seetings :-
Rom Version : 6.5.23004EN
Rom Date : 06/12/09
Radio Version : 1.15.00
Protocol Version : 1337.45
Extrom version : 23004-xplode
could anyone help and tell me excactly what files i need to download to restore to original shipped state and exactly how to carry out the downgrade.
Regards,
John.
welcome to the forum!
ok, what you need is:
- a pc, preferably with windows xp
- a wm2003 rom in your preferred language, e.g. from -=xplode's shipped rom archive=-
-a RUU (Rom upgrade utility), you can try mine there (attached)
and then you go to the -=wiki wizard for downgrading=- and follow the instructions there or follow these shortened instructions:
1. hard reset your device: power+reset, then camera and record, change the values in the menu from No, No, Yes to YES, YES, NO using the camera and record buttons, confirm with the mail button.
2. put your device in bootloader mode
3. connect it to the pc using the cradle or a usb cable
4. extract the shipped rom in any folder
5. put the maupgradeut_noid in there and start it
6. have a look, whether the 2nd page shows device and rom information, if not, exit, start task manager and kill activesync (wcesmgr and wcescomm) and go back to step 2
7. start the "upgrade"
8. when it's done, perform a wm2003 hard reset by pressing power+reset, and wait for the versions to show up in the bottom right corner, if all the values changed from your previous wm6.5 versions, you're probably fine and done by now.
in very rare cases, something goes wrong, some combinations of pcs and devices wouldn't work with my ruu, but you would realise that at step6 or 7, try and download another ruu then and try again, i think there also is one linked in the wiki.
at the end, your device should read something like:
R:1.12.00
G:1337.42
D:1.06.02
with best regards

Bootloader
Hi i dont know if this makes any difference my Bootloader is showing Version 2.05 Reagrds.
no, it does not make any difference, since the bootloader's version is not the problem. before you go on doing anything, you should have a good look at this site:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade4_Vista_Pic
and unless you are sure, the installation of the driver was successful, you should not attempt to flash the device, because then you will end up with a half-flashed device, that cannot be switched on and maybe also not flashed anymore.
http://firmware.atspace.com/ can't be accessed. is there any other site for wm2003se rom ?
I have the same problem, as i m downgrading to WM 2003, i followed all the instructions as u mentioned here, but when i run "maupgradeut_noid" it always said that this ROM is not for your device, i have Orange SPV M2000 (Blue Angel), please help i cant able to downgrade to WM 2003.
One more thing is there any way to Merge ExtROM with Storage in Windows MObile 6.5?

ok, we are dealing with several different things here:
1. the storage resize:
no, it can only be done in wm2003, no way to do it in wm5 or above, you have to downgrade
2. while attempting to downgrade, don't forget to put your device into bootloader mode, before connecting and starting maupgrade, then there will be no device error anymore.
3. of course for downgrading you need the original rom, at best from xplode's shipped rom archive, if you can't access it, just tell me your favoured language and country, and i will look it up and send you the direct download link. btw. xplode's site works fine!
favoured languange : English
Country : Indonesia
please send me the direct link. thx a lot. chef_tony
since he doesn't have indonesian roms and you are fine with english, here are the links of 2 different UK roms, you should be fine with.
T-Mobile UK WWE 1.42.00 1.42.112 1.13.00 Download (Ziddu) / Mirror 1 (Rapidshare) / Mirror 2 (Megaupload)
O2 UK WWE 1.40.00 1.40.242 1.12.00 Download (Ziddu) / Mirror 1 (Rapidshare) / Mirror 2 (Megaupload).
i hope these links work for you.
thx a lot chef_tony. I almost forgot. I want to ask whether the different rom can drain the battery fastly ? because my battery drain faster using WM6.5.
the power consumption of the device mainly consists of 2 things:
- wireless communications (gsm, gprs, bluetooth, irda, wi-fi)
- hardware usage (cpu & ram)
the wireless does not really vary from rom to rom but much like on the pc, graphically more intense applications use more power and since wm6.5 has a much nicer shell, it uses more ram and cpu to run. that uses more power.
if you want to save battery, reduce the backlight intensity, let the device switch off faster and end all applications that you don't need and de-activate wireless communications that you don't use. still then the battery life is limited but that is something you will have to learn to put up with.
thx chef_tony. I want to ask about the memory used ? is it better with storage 42mb and program 90 mb or repart it into default which is storage 60mb and program 60 mb ? is this RAM configuration also affect the battery consumption ?
no, that has nothing to do with that, because you don't resize the ram, you resize the extrom and the storage. that doesn't have any influence, kind of like the size of the sd card does not have influence.

Flashing to new rom

I'm sorry for this post, because the answer is probelly somewhere on this forum. But I can't find it.
I have my diamond for about a year now and I like to install a custom rom with windows mobile 6.5. But I can't seem to figure out what I need for this.
I already chosen a rom, but I have no idea if it is any good, because there are so many roms out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563245
So my first question, is this rom any good?
Second question, what type of hard SPL do I need, Do I need the normal one that requires roms to be signed or do I need the developers edition?
Third question. Do I need MTTY for this or can I first try it without MTTY?
And the last question, if I donĀ“t like the rom is it easy to install the original rom again or do I need to do something special for that.
I hope you guys can answer my questions so I can start flashing my rom.
Grtz, Eric
EDIT: I tried installing hard-SPL unsigned, but get an error that it can't connected to my phone. But it is connected using windows mobile device center
why do you want to flash a new rom?
ive recenetly done the same, i wanted to flash my rom as the original was tied to vodafone and some of the features like youtube, facebook, and opera wouldnt work as they wanted vodafone connection ( im on virgin mobile).
anyway after much trial and error i in the end found it versy easy.
3 simple steps. first flash your bootloader
i found the best and easiest one was spl olinex version 4.0
u need to softboot to do this ( hold the down volume and switch on phone, have usb cable connected then use the flash util provided with the above.
once thats done you need to flash rom the radio
again the one out there that seems the best to use is version 1.00.25.05 diamondruu radio
again soft reset so you get the try colour screen and run the flash rom update ( takes about 2 mins at most)
finally choose your version of win mobile 6.5 ( i got windows revoluton 7.1 ultra clean edition)
do soft reset again, then run the flash update and again this takes about 5-10 mins for this)
all worked perfectly for me and it was my first try.
though i will be changing it as the revolution is missing some vital aspects i like.
i know its basic but hopeully you can see its not the daunting prospect some people make out though any rom upgrade carries a minot risk i found this to be as easy as 1,2,3
good luck

Because I would like some new features on my phone. Like wm 6.5 or a new version of manilla. It's getting a little boring having the same phone for over a year.
@miramele, thanks for your response. I'll give it a try tomorrow and hope I won't brick my phone.
let us know how you get on, it took me several attempts as each time i was trying while within the phone itself, if you hold the down volume key and power on the phone you get the tri colour screen, in this mode i had 100% success each time.
doing it within the OS with phone on it just stuck at 0%.
And since then i have re flashed it with a diff version of wm 6.5 that i prefer and all is good.
the version i flashed to is the manila 2.1 with the latest touchFLO 3d so ive not even bothered with Spb mobile shell though may add this later.

Thanks for the advice, if I understand correctly I have to get to the tri-color screen and then install hard-spl? But can I connect to my laptop while in this mode?
I'm gone try it tomorrow because I didn't have any time today.
Thanks for all the help, especially miramele.
I made the step and am now running a custom rom without any issues. Many thanks for the help and for pulling me over the line.

[SOLVED] Radio Update Problems - Can someone help, please?

Hi Guys,
So I finally decided to update my Xperia radio for better reception and hopefully to see if it magically fixes the Screen of or Stand by of Death issues, associated with many of the Xperia custom ROMs, however, I have run into a critical problem here:
The instructions tell you to copy the Rom Update Utility and the .nbh file to a new folder. Then sync your phone with WMDC and run the Update Utility from the computer and follow the on-screen directions.
This is what happens for me:
When I sync and connect my Xperia and launch the Rom Update Utility, the on-screen directions keep referring to the update as ROM and not as a RADIO. It tells me the changes that will happen in the "image" and etc. When I finally decide update the radio from my computer, my phone goes into the tri color HardSPL mode, and the USB connection from my computer breaks. The phone gives the option to update the rom by hitting the power button, while the on-screen process errors out and breaks, because of a "connection error." This royally screws my phone, cause then I HAVE to reflash my phone to get it back to the working state.
I am sure someone has seen this issue before, I tried search, but not much luck... can anyone help please? I would really appreciate it!
In case it matters, the Radio version I am trying to update from is like 1.06 to the 1.6?
Thanks for any help in advance, everyone!
Really guys? No help from anyone?
Thanks for any help in advance!
I used these steps and it works 100% every time. Flashed several radio roms.
-Download the radio rom.
-Charge your phone to 100%.
-Make sure your xperia is hard-spl. (atleast I think this is needed, best to do so anyway)
-Copy the rom file (usually called 'ruu_signed.nbh') to your storage card.
-rename the rom file to 'Kovsimg.nbh'.
-Turn off your xperia.
-Turn it back on into boot-loader mode. You can do so by holding down the 'volume down' button and the power button simultaneously.
-Follow the onscreen instructions.
-When it's done updating the radio take out the battery and turn your xperia back on. No need for a hard-reset or anything.
This should be a failsafe guide.
@stihl: very detailed
in short: flashing radios is like flashing roms, it just finishes faster due to file size
I have only flashed a "custom rom" once, which was to unlock or "debrand" my Xperia, so I am new to flashing radios. My only problem is that once the ".nbh" file ALONE is on my storage card, and the "tri-coloured screen" has been loader, an error message of "no image file" is shown on the screen just before the "tri-coloured screen" is shown again with "serial" at the bottom. I'm sure there's a simply solution, but I am not sure what it is, and can do with a little help. Thanks
Found a sync solution and followed that method now, so it's aight, but thanks to anyone who WOULD OF helped.

ba update

Hy!
I have a ba with broken power button. The button has rend a pace of motherbord. How can i update my rom without this? Can i turn on the bootloader mod by shoftware? How can i repair it?
(i can't speak eglish, but i try it! )
thx!
hi and welcome to the forum!
there are several things that come to mind:
1. in my signature there is a link to the htc blueangel service manual that can help you fix your power button, because sooner or later, you might need it.
2. assuming that you already use a wm5 or higher rom, before attempting to upgrade you can try a dry run and try to put the device into bootloader mode by running enterbl.exe on the device (it comes with every RUU), then without upgrading you perform a soft reset to restart it and then try a hard reset with only reset+camera+record and see if the menu shows up. then you are good to go.
3. if you are running wm2003, you should check, whether your rom is already WWE, you might be able to upgrade without putting the device into bootloader mode before beginning.
please post back if any of that worked. if not, i still have an idea involving mtty, but i would have to look it up first and maybe it is not necessary.
