Is there a photo viewer like the iPhones? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not a fan of the iPhone but it does do some things well and I think the photo viewer is brilliant - full screen display and rotated correctly. Have been hunting for a WM6 equivalent but failed miserably. Does anyone know if there is there anything comparable out there?

There is S2V - Slide To View. You have to install a new version and see, if you like it or not.
Another option is to get HTC Album 3 from a Rhodium ROM or something like that. That was a nice finger flipping picture viewer as well.

Resco photo viewer 7 beta puts an end to this problem

I second what jpijper says, the new Resco Photo Viewer beta is brilliant, get it here: http://www.resco.net/forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=27422

Big Thanks
Thanks to all for your swift & helpful replies. Have just installed Resco photo viewer 7 beta and I totally agree - its brilliant - just what I needed

S2V is slooooow and irresponsive if you have a lot of large pictures. I'd rather use either Sony's photo viewer or try Resco Photo Beta.

On the link above, it leads to Beta 5, not 7. Is '7' a typo or is there really a Beta 7 ?

Try google: resco photo viewer beta 7.

Another vote for Resco here. I'm using 6.3 atm and it's like a mini Photoshop lol.
I'll change to 7 when the final version comes out. I tried it on a friend's phone and it's amazing.

Yes, hadn't checked but it is the V5 beta edition I installed, due to expire in Nov 09...having said that, its excellent - on that basis, the newer versions must be well worth a look!

The numbers seem to have been confused a little in this thread - Resco have had Photo Viewer 6 out for years. Photo Viewer 7 is their new product that is in the Beta stage. There have been 5 betas of it so far, therefore the one in the link is the most up to date - Photo Viewer 7 Beta 5. HTH.

It's good but not excellent. I really liked to zoom with the iPhone. Hopefully LEO will have better picture viewer. But Resco is the best for WinMo

Aah, thanks. That makes sense.

I use S2V and very happy with its basic functions. Resco may be trying to do too much on a phone devise.
Tried a version of HTC Album3, but it appears to be for older version of WM, is there a link for an Xperia compatible cab file ?

Gee .. that Resco thing looks good !

Porting TFL3D to X1

Is this possible for you guys to port or extract TFL3D to the X1? TFL3D is actually a program running ontop of windows. and i dont see why it cant be done on X1, since both running the same WM.
is it ported to other devices?
theres your answer
is it ported to other devices?
F..King dumb question
Of course its not converted to other devices, as they dont have the hardware for it to run smootly exept on kaiser that i know, but THE XPERIA is SOMETHING ELSE because it has the same hardware, 3D chip and the same motherboard as the diamond......
please read in the forum......
as i am also looking for touchflo 3D to my upcoming SE X1...
Well I tried to install the QVGA version on non HTC phones and it did not work.....
So mayb I did somethin wrong....
The best bet would be if someone could grab it from a touch HD, as is runs the exact same hardware, including the WVGA screen.
Touch Flo 3D (Manilla) From Touch HD
Good news for all Xperia owners. I have Touch Flo 3D (Manilla) working on the X1. The Manilla software came from the Touch HD and works very fast. Weather works as does the audio manager and photo album. I can't fault it so far. Great to have the best of both worlds. I will package it up into a cab and post a link soon - maybe tomorrow.
Nice. Can't wait to try it out.
Looking through the registry on my X1 there are keys there for TFLO in HKLM/Software/OEM
ive been waiting for this since i got my xperia on release day. Every xperia owner salutes you!

I hope u can share with us all =)
Its a shame the panels seem to be so poorly written. They should be silky-smooth with 3D acceleration.
I certainly am disappointed from the videos I have seen and if I did not know the specs, I would be thinking its no more powerful than my Wizard. Theres still even the lag rotating the screen when you open the keyboard. I expected it to be a lot faster and smoother especially for the price.
touchflow will run on htc hd extremely smooth and fast.
htc has got 480x800, too. so i will beleave, that in near future, touch flow will be downladable in wxga res.
(sorry i meant wvga, lol)

I am still working on this. Need to get the album and audio manager working. Also having trouble with landscape mode - don't know if Blackstone actually has one. Also trying to put in comm manager, phone and volumes controls. It is worth the wait as Manilla is not complete without these components!
Good on you man! I am patient and am willing to wait. Many thanks dude!

how is it for U?

No Facebook Intergration to TD2 !! ???

All the cooked ROMS based on this device have it .. Why not the original device ?
I dont think 'officially' that the facebook app is out yet. the ones you may have previously used wil be pre-release versions
Oh the App works fine .
It was the intergrated facebook picture and status update in TF3D I was refering too.
Its not been implemented but was on the pre release version ... I'm a bit miffed why not as it was cool .
I think the question why certain software is or is not on the device is always a personal one. Maybe not enough people are using facebook to make it generally available on all devices. I, for instance, wouldn't be using it, though it would consume space on my device. Bottom line: maybe they just chose to not include it.
Can't you install it from a cab?
Sorry I will make myself clearer
I have the Facebook Cab and it installs and works fine on the TD2
In Touch Flo 3D you have a contacts application . On the pre production version and the ROMS made from it there was an option to hook your contacts up to facebook so you could download your friends picture and status and this was then added to your contacts in the Touch Flo 3D application.
Its not been implemented . I just hope it is as it was a great feature and work brilliantly
I'd love to see that feature too.

If you look on the Touch HD ROM dev the touch 3d its on there as they are using the Pre release Topaz and Rodium ROM to customise the Touch HD . I sold the Touch HD to buy the TD2 as the Touch HD is way too big.
As for the Palm Pre , i would like to see windows Mobile finally update the calendar to support multiple Calendars as the Pre, Blackberry and Iphone does .
There's some work on this very topic going on here....

all the 3d feutures are included in spb mobile shell 3.5 too, as i can tell the inly thing that is new in 5 is the animated contact tab and the change wallpaper in home tab. If u allready got 3.5 go to graphic settings and set "use hardware accelerator" to on, and if u have a g-sensor phone u can allso use that 2
hope it still supports windows 6.1
SPB has gone far ahead with this release. People are just loving it..looking forward
Guys,
Just in case if u didn't saw thsi official preview video explaining the new function then see this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bE7vkxJnKY&feature=related
Must watch excellent presentation i have ever seen.
i would like integration with RSS as some widget you can put on the first page.
i prefer all-in-one solution (facebook, rss, some photo contacts, agenda, some shortcuts... in one screen). At least we have 3,6" windows mobiles as HD2 with hi res.
I think Touch flo is step back,
Also it will be good to make easier widget change or resizing like Samsung's touchwiz or lot of different widgets.
I hope MS5.0 still support "free connection" update unlike Android or Touchwiz.
I just hope I won't have to work months to convert all my stuff lol
EDIT: oh, and I also hope they'll finally give a meaning to the currenly almost useless tasks widget
i didnt even know version 4 is out yet!

they're going straight from 3.5.3 to 5.0... looks like in some eastern cultures the number 4 means bad luck, so they're skipping it

What's new in SPB Mobile Shell 5.0:
New 3D engine
Natural Interaction Engine
3D widgets
Tight integration with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social networks
SPB UI Builder 2.0
Multi-platform support: Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian
SPB really went in the right direction with the multi-platform support.

I noticed in the second youtube link in this thread, there is mention of the widget sdk. The description was kind of sketchy, but it could mean that developers will now have a platform to develop their own widgets (instead of just skinning existing ones) which could really open up the platform. It would be truly great to see what some of the developers here can do!
same old SPB only with 3D crap
i think its all marketing trick..
why "5"? you have only added 3D.. so.. why?
its not that you have developed new concept.

[REQ] Flickr app that's actually optimized for tablet.

I've tried them all. The closest to a decent experience on the tablet is FlickFolio. But it only works well as a photo viewer and not an actual app to check comments/activities etc. My favourite iOS Flickr app is FlickStackr (and Photopular Pro when I want to feel good about myself ;P).
So, I'm hoping someone will develop a nice Flickr Honeycomb app. I'm sure it will sell well on the Market as well since like I said, there isn't any :/
*hint Chris hint*
yeah I would buy one too. I would like to not have to use the browser.
I have yet to find an Android Flickr browser that's as good as the one I used under iOS I found one that looked promising, but it wasn't tablet-optimized.

My perfect Flickr app is FlickStackr for the iOS so perhaps you can take a look to see how it works.
But the most important features should be:
- Easy access to your own Photostream, Recent from Contacts, Explored
- QUICKLY view and edit comments/views/geotag/exif etc.
- Share photo on other Social Networking sites.
- Upload Photos.
Hope you or someone will be able to create a decent Flickr app for Android. Flickstackr for iPad is beautiful
Ok took a look at Flickstackr. It does look pretty good. I'll try and use that as my model. I'm pretty slow at developing so don't expect something over night.
Thanks

Also, if you have the time, maybe a stats mode for the narcassistic ;P Shows total view/visit per day/week etc. Only works with Pro accounts though.
As an anonymous user (i.e. not having a Flickr account), I like the ability of entering a keyword, having a search return a screen filled with thumbnails results (which would fill the whole tablet screen, with adjustable thumbnail sizes perhaps). Swipe to go to the next result page. Click on a photo to have it go fullsize. Photo could be saved if I wanted to keep it.
I'll have to charge my iPod to check what Flickr application I was using (before my Nexus One and my Xoom drove my iPod to the bottom of my desk drawer).
Still waiting patiently
