Hi, I am looking for an app that would show more info on battery, such as capacity in mah, number of cycles, etc. Can you recomend any? Thanks, Mike.
Try this BatteryLife app/widget, it shows the remaining percentage, temperature plus mV info of your battery.

I tried this app. It's a nice app but I would really like to see the actual mAh and a number of cycles that has been put on a battery. I know that some other phones (Nokia) can show this info.

I am currently using the same. I love it. Although if you were looking for something a bit different, there is also an app that shows you how long your battery will last depending on your usage at that time. Big font, sadly i cannot remember the title : ( Simple search should dothe trock

I read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6399061&postcount=3546
It says that you should get 100%, then turn it off and wait until it is green. After this, wipe the battery stats or use the adb command. Then, let the battery die after normal use, and after recharge..
My question is, can anyone recommend some battery killing apps that will do the job?
Thanks in advance!

i think you answered your own question
That public embarrassment was not necessary. *sarcasm*
Yeah, but isn't using an application considered normal?
sorry, anyway, I used pandora overnight that worked pretty well. with pandora you can lock the screen on also that helps out.
I could be wrong but I thought that the way Lithium batteries worked makes this kind of calibration useless??

This dueling argument will go on for centuries. I wish a battery manufacturer would step up and release some white pages to say one way or another.
I don't think it is so much calibrating the battery, but calibrating the phone to the high and low points of the battery. Older battery types required conditioning, not calibrating.

Bingo! Having three batteries (2 after-market TouchPro 2 and the OEM), I even have a performance difference between the two types. I've since set the OEM battery on a shelf and only use the TP2 batteries, as they are identical. I haven't had a battery issue since calibrating using one of them.
What app do you guys use to monitor your battery usage? I'm using Calkulin's ROM and it only gives you the basic stuff like display, wifi, etc.
Looking for something that will tell you exactly which apps or widgets are sucking the most battery.

Spare parts gives more detailed battery usage. Many Roms include it but I don't know about Caulkins.

Spare Parts was included in Calkulins but I don't see a battery usage feature in there.
battery left widget
I find the battery left widget does a great job of monitoring the charge level, time remaing and time to charge. it calibrates and adjusts to your useage pattern.

You could also try "wheres my Droid power" in market.

yes, you tap on the widget icon and you can get all kinds of useful information.
You're probably familiar with Battery Monitor Widget. It's such a great tool, it can't go unnoticed in the Play Store...
Anyway. This app has got a nice feature called Calibration. It's actually a sub-program.
What this thing does is it estimates the miliamps (capacity) your phone's battery can hold, based on the logging the app does.
So, in order to find out what capacity your battery is able to hold (now, after some months of usage), you need to do this. Install Battery Monitor Widget from the Play Store, start it and :
1) Go to Settings - History and check all the boxes
2) Under History, set the "History update rate" to 10 minutes and the "History size" to 4MB
3) Under Monitoring, check "Monitor without widget"
And... that's pretty much all the settings you need to change in order to accomplish what I explained above.
Now, let your battery finish ~5 charging cycles (let it drain to 15%, then charge it back up to 100%), but with the phone turned on, not off!
I only did 2 charging cycles, and the app showed the same value it showed after 5 charging cycles... so... I'm not sure, but 5 charging cycles should be more than enough for the application to get a concrete read on the battery's capacity.
Now, when you're ready to find out... Enter Battery Monitor Widget app and, on the bottom, you'll see several tabs : History, Estimates, Calibration, Usage, Stats. Open Calibration and... see for yourself.
Post your results here. I'm curious to see whether this app reads the battery right or not, and, if it does get it right, how good your battery does after some usage. State for how long have you been using your phone and the capacity BMW reads. Even a screenshot, maybe .

Oh... before some admin decides to close this thread because he thinks it's a duplicate of another thread... ask . You may not be right every time...
What do you really want to achieve with this? Now the thread no. 3 where you beg for test results by other members. But wouldn't your problem much easier be solved if you by a new battery?

Sure, it would be. But I don't really wanna give $20 away that easily. And also, perhaps the app doesn't read the battery's capacity correctly... which would imply my battery isn't dying, as I think.
Besides, perhaps you could be interested in your own battery's performance.
Now, sorry if my reach for help has disturbed you . You are not compelled to help me.
I just got an extended 5000mAh battery today. I'll set BMW up and report back after a couple of cycles.

You do that!
Finished the first cycle (initial full charge after buying the battery > discharge to 9% > full charge) and got an estimation of 5607mAh and 22%.accuracy which seems somewhat right.
Here are some screenshots of BMW and battery usage from Settings.
http://db.tt/ZzHhl2OD
Update: the estimation keeps increasing as long as the phone is plugged in the AC charger, even though battery says it's full. It's 5737mAh now. % remains the same. Maybe because the battery is new and still calibrating itself or something.

- remove EVERYTHING you don't need, in particular weather, any kind of counter and battery apps can be battery hungry
- reduce the numbers of screens
- greenify self installed apps
- don't keep on removing and installing things
- don't use widgets, in particular those that needs to be constantly updated
- decrease screen brightness or use an auto-brightness app (factory auto-brightness doesn't provide a good range)
- use white themes and reduce the screen brightness another 10 - 20 %
- regular battery charging level somewhat above 90 %
- only occasionally to a 100% and then allow it to deplete completely
I think that last thing is exactly the oposite what you should do: AFAIK the battery should be as full as it gets and charging it as often as you can is a must! The manual states never to completelly deplete and so does every thing i read about li-ion. The battery itself will last longer if it's protected from heat etc

Absolutely true, modern batteries like being constantly charged and being full, they don't like being empty. The advice from peter-k is for old fashioned batteries which needed "Conditioning" to avoid "Battery memory"
New batteries avoid that avoid that problem but don't like being empty
Noted with thanks!
Thank you for the advice. Up until now I have been waiting until my battery drain to 1% before charging...

I checked for more accurate info and found Lithium Polymers like to be charged to a 100 %, and be depleted to about 2 - 3 %. They don't like to be totally emptied, as what you said.
My battery drain from 100 % to 96 % with 4 minutes of active screen??
My battery drain from 100 percent to 1 percent after 1 day usage with 6 hours on screen time. Please help. Oh wait batteries normally go down when in use.
Yeah, i'm still a bit neurotic with this :silly:
it depends, what are you doing with active screen? when i play coc my battery goes down fast.

Doesn't matter what he is doing. He cannot calculate the right consume of the battery just by see how long it go down 4%. The system did not set up properly yet and maybe he using at the same time, WiFi, Bluetooth and so on.
This thread is useless as there thousand out there.

You will need to see a complete cycle before you can assume that you have battery drain, like how much it goes down if left overnight, I personally only lose 1 - 2% overnight which is about right. But the second you fire up a game it will munch you battery, same as can be said for Wifi when downloading or setting up your phone, so if this is the first time you've used the handset, it's more than likely a little premature to say what your battery life is going to be like, give it a week and then see where your average 100% battery charge gets you, by all accounts a day and a half to two days is quite normal according to some users on XDA, but then that would depend on the user.
One thing I did find with the Z1 was that when gaming the average battery use is little higher than I was used to with previous phones.
You could try underclock your processor (I have clocked my processor at 1.5 Ghz) it will save you some battery. In addition you could try undervoltage but you must be extremely careful with voltages as very low could unstable your phone and very high can fry your phone (if you are newbie do not try it ).
These are some ideas it is your choice if you follow any of them not mine.
