Hi All, i live in Hong Kong and use a pre-paid 2G SIM card on the 3 network.
(so this could be the problem)...
I'm trying to use the GPS by opening google maps, but i keep getting an error message saying that the GPRS connection failed.. I thought that using the gps would not require using the network..
also, when it does work (i have no idea how but it does), the GPS can't lock on to any satellites...
what if i just want the co-ordinates using the GPS without using google maps.
is the GPS mode unlocked in the HK english version? if not, what steps do i need to take to correct this.
thanks in advance.

Hey guys
I have a problem here
Last month I bought an ATT Tilt and unlocked the sim that I can use it internationally
the sim unlock does its job, however, I can't seem to use the GPRS in other country even though I've set it up correctly (even had representative from the provider to help me)
so..can anyone help me with this ?
thanks
used my kaiser in Ukraine on GPRS
I just got back from Germany and Ukraine. My AT&T sim roamed on 3g fine in Germany. In Ukraine I put in a kyivstar sim. My HTC Kaiser did not recognize and auto configure the sim for data. (the phone worked just fine with no adjustments). I went to the kyivstar website and got their settings for GPRS (www.ab.kyivstar.com) and entered them manually in settings/connections/connections section. GPRS then worked just fine. I was surprised Kyivstar did not auto config since they have been the largest provider in Ukraine for 10 years. When I came back to the states my AT&T sim card powered up and reconfigured itself to 3g just fine also. Sorry but I do not know why yours is not working
i have the same problem with you , i bought att tilt from ebay a month ago. The sim lock works still but after a month i can not connect gprs. Can someone help me ?
same problem......
HELP !
Hi guys. Many Tmobile users encounter the same thing when using the Tilt. Locate the cab file in your Windows folder that Disables Hidden Proxy and run it. Then confirm your GPRS settings for your provider. That should clear the problem and allow connections.
did you try deleting the proxy in the registry?
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings]
look for the line that says
"EnableAutoDetect"
and delete it.
didnt work for me... but try!
Hello all.
I am such a beginner at this... please help.
I have a Tilt that I successfully unlocked - I think - and then flashed it with Duttys_WM6.1_ Official_5.2.19209 (Thank you . Everything is working, WI-FI, GPS if I am in the AT&T area (Detroit), I also tried it with a T-Mobile SIM and it works. I bought a "pay as you go" SIM and I activated it and again, it works
My problem: I live in Windsor Ontario and my SIM has a Detroit Michigan #. If I am close to the border - say 5-6 km - the phone works. Beyond that it has no signal. Isn't this supposed to be roaming or something? Is it the pay as you go? Or is it the phone itself, ROM or something else? When the SIM was not activated it was also saying "no service" even in Detroit but I assume that was normal.
When I do not get signal, the QuickGPS and the GPS Test does not get anything even if WIFI is active and internet is working. Is this normal also?
Thank you, Adrian
GPS is not dependent on cellular technology, it is only dependent on GPS satellites that transmit signals all over the world, regardless of your wireless provider, or whether you have WIFI or not.
Thanks. On the QuickGPS page it mentions GPRS, that is why I assumed it needs service to work. I hope I will understand how to program this better in time. All I know is if I can use the phone i.e. I have phone service then everything works, GPS included. If not, not.
Also, please guys, if you have any idea about the first part of my questions... Thanks
Pay as you go SIM normally have a reduced coverage area compared to their pre-paid counterparts. Also if its a US pay as you go SIM there is a good possibility it won't work internationally from what I've seen of them in the past.
Really annoying, was in Italy yesterday and wanted to synch my emails but couldn't, the connection would always fail (GPRS and 3G) but, the calls were working absolutely fine, any ideas????
Thanks, M.
what's your provider?
Vodafone in the UK and the preferred network in Italy is, Vodafone IT.
This should just work out of the box as it used to on my Touch Dual and S710's previously ... no customisations were made to them to make work.
Bought a Tilt yesterday. Successfully unlocked it for T-Mobile. The only thing I have an issue with is the GPS. I am running Tom Tom 7 on it. Will GPS even work on the T-Mobile network??
GPS doesnt need the network of t-mobile!
Edit: try quickGPS in programs. It takes a few minutes the first time it will connect.
I use tomtom7 on my unlocked tmobile, works great!

GPS function is network independent, as long as you have a open sky and a program with pre-loaded maps, you don't need internet connection.
unlocked tmobile here also...u just need to update andd ownload quickgps every couple of days to gets satelite signals saved..3use nadavi gps tool also to get quicker locks sometimes but makes ure ur gps settings are on com4 9600 baud i think as well
[Q] Extremely strange network issue. Need help determining if its my HTC One or AT&T
I am trying to find out if there is a problem with my phone or the local AT&T's LTE service. When I am at work in a certain part of town, I have a great LTE connection, but Google Now Search does not work at all! Search, setting reminders, voice recognition, search suggestions all don't work. Check out these screenshots:

Speedtest in same location showing a great LTE connection:

Google+ doesnt work either, just sits there refreshing. Facebook, browsing the internet, email, Maps all seem to work fine.
When I get home about 20 miles north of this location, everything works fine.

This totally has to be a local AT&T issue, right? I fear that I can't contact AT&T about this because I'm rooted, S-OFF, upgraded firmware running ARHD. They would immediately blame it on my tinkering with the phone. What do you think, guys?
I also found that the Play store doesnt work either . I get timeouts while near work .I drive home and it connects to the store ok. There has to be something up with the mobile network near my work. That's all I can think of.
