Some rom's My Location feature works (sometimes). However the rom that i like most is Dutty's R5 but My Location doesn't work on this rom at all.
I tried some trick and i've read a lot about this issue but couldn't find a solution.
Does anyone have an exact solution for this?

I did not do anything but my location worked today somehow. It updated the location and the weather. Annoying.

I've found that My Location won't work on a 3G connection (Im using the Shadowline 23060x62 rom). If I manually turn the 3G connection OFF then My Location works (mostly).
I bet that the occurance of it working for you today, is because the phone was on a G or E connection when you tried My Location
Yes. You are right. When i turned 3G to E, it works.

same weather issue
im running duttys r5 and for the life of me i cant get my location to work with his roms. ive tried that 3g to edge. also tried few other things tips that i read in his rom thread. they have all failed. i have a att pure. tried energy rom and my location works perfect on his rom. its just puzzling.

Dutty's R5 Rom
I'm using Dutty's R5 and My Location works for me, using 3G too. I didnt have to do anything. *shrug*
anybody have any ideas on this? I kinda dont want to reflash to a different rom at this point since everything else seems to work except this my location thing.
check out the "Location" menu in manilla settings tab, may be you have disabled it
no it is enabled, it worked fine right after flashing but then a few days later it stopped and hasnt been able to connect since.
If i disable 3G, my location works fine with E. But no chance with 3G.
yeah I dont get it, it never worked right with Duttys rom but when I put the EnergyROM on there it is working fine albeit with different problems.

same here. energys rom worked just fine but duttys rom wont work. same issue and discussion happening even in the rhodium thread too.

There is a registry entry that will disable and enable the my location feature that is not controled by the Settings Tab. Check the following registry and make sure it is set to 1
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.EnableCurrentLocation=1

I had the same problem with Dutty's R6, but i fixed the problem by flashing radio 4.49.25.17 and My Location updated immediately after that

Hi,
I'm using the same radio and rom but i still have problems with my location. It only updates when 3G is off. Works perfect with E.
Heres what I found to work:
Add your city to the weather screen
Go to your home screen and click on the alarms button (right above the calender)
Go to the tab to your left(World Clock)
Click your city and exit
Update weather

I've really enjoyed all the different ROMS I've flashed last week, but they're all had one thing in common, every one of them I could either not get my email or not get an internet connection,or even both, in some cases. Yes, I did search the forums, when I had those issues, and never could get everything just right.
Here's what I'd like to know.... I've flashed back to the original ROM, and no network issues....is there a way to copy just the network settings and all that they effect, into some sort of executionable file or cab, so I can use any ROM and just click to set my network settings? Or if anyone has a better way to do this? I do want to be able to use a different ROM.....

Just wondering if you are using mymail on your TYTN. I just upgraded my ROM to WM6 and now Mymail will download the mail headers, but the message is empty. I called support and they said that Mymail has been discontinued. Mymail was working a week ago, now they say it has been discontinued.
Any thoughts?

My phone can't connect to my router even though everything is set up correctly and the SSID is on visible. It always says "Not in range. Remembered." ~~
However it can detect my neighbours router ?_? I had this problem on both versions experimental and stable but i can connect normally with any other rom. I really dont want to switch to another rom =/
Here some more infos:
Haykuros "DaNgEr" SPL
Cyanogen recovery 1.4
Cyanogen Rom 4.1.11.1
Running the same rom as you, but not the same spl. Hard spl is installed on mine. No issues what so ever with WiFi. I've never had WiFi issues with Cyanogen's, even with 4.0.4.
Yours is the exception I'd guess, not the rule.
I don't believe the ROM is the source of your problem.
Moved as not development.
As i said it detects Wi-Fi on any other rom also on my original nand backup. ~~
The 3G connection seems weeker too and i constantly get "connection lost please retry" msgs.
FWIW, when I run the same ROM and same SPL as you I don't have any WIFI problems (dlink router). I would try re-installing everything.
Re-Installed everything a couple of times but it still wont work ~~ Guess i have to wait for the next barebone stable lol.

Try MENU... SETTINGS...WIRELESS CONTROLS.......WI-FI SETTINGS....MENU....ADVANCED.....REGULATORY DOMAIN....
Try each setting to see if this helps. I had similar trouble and set to 14 it worked fine.

I had the exact same issue and just tried extending the regulatory domains...wouldn't have thought it would have made a difference or have any effect but it worked and found my router instantly. No idea why my router wasn't showing up in the first place but there ya go!
My wifi connects just fine, but the web only seems to work for Opera Mini, Facebook etc... but it won't work with Dolphin Browser, or downloads in the market place. The default browser works occasionally.
I can browse the marketplace, but when trying to download, it just says "Downloading..." then "Download Paused".
Everything worked on the stock ROM, and everything works fine when I'm using Cellular data. Any thoughts?

Ok to start off, I love flashing different roms and flash quite often. Not sure when this happened but after flashing one of the many roms, I noticed my radio version changed. Come to find out, I had no reception at all. Like the service was shut off. Tried flashing back to my original radio with no avail. Tried flashing various different roms, same problem. Even tried the latest shipped rom, still nothing. I've contacted T-Mobile, thinking maybe they terminated my service. They say ever thing is fine on there end. Tried searching this and can't come up with any thing. Anyone have any ideas. The rest of the phone works fine. Just no service. Thanks in advance.

Must be a setting change that occurred. First off, did you go through the connection wizard that typically appears in the beginning which set up your services to your cell phone provider?

What radio are you currently using? Not to offend you, but your sure that your SPL matches rom your using?

No, I have no problems with my device. Yes, I did downgrade my radio, but everything works on my end...
As far as my signature goes, the bottom one is the config to my Diamond.

I do go threw setup every time. As far as the SPL you mentioned, are you referring to the rilphone.dll I'm using? I'm using radio - 1.17.25.09. But I have tried just about all the radios with there rilphone.dll counter parts.

Sorry for the noob question. My mind didn't even go there. I'm using SPL-1.56.OliNex.
Sorry about this, seems T-Mobile is to blame. After countless hours on the phone with them. They finally figured out that they "accidentally" canceled my service. Thanks everyone for your help. But there was a higher power here to blame...the brilliant minds of T-Mobile.
I got the same problem as you before. All I do is to switch off auto-3G. The problem is on 3G. BUT later I change ROM to Ongkolog Superlite version but still need to switch auto 3G off. Later after sometime I now can use with auto 3G. But times it still got problem with no service (auto 3G) if I move to new location outside from my area.

Solution found (idiots T-Mobile), thread closed
Hi,
Ever since i upgraded to Xperia Radio 1.16, i've been experiencing a major issue with My Location function on multiple roms...it does not seem to update...does anyone have a solution for this or any troubleshooting ideas?
I tried the following:
- reflashed the old 1.14 and reflashed different roms...PROBLEM EXISTED
- reflashed the default spl and did a sony rom update to default rom, then reflashed spl and reflashed different roms...PROBLEM EXISTED.
- tried using googlemaps on each rom and then used My Location...PROBLEM EXISTED
- tried enabling/disabling My Location....PROBLEM EXISTED
- tried enabling aGPS/disabling aGPS....PROBLEM EXISTED
- tried combination both 1.16 + 1.14 rilphone....PROBLEM EXISTED
- tried adding my home town in my location and tried updating, it updates only the towns i put and not the My Location one....which i think is using data to update and my location uses either gps or agps....PROBLEM EXISTED
I think its either i fried something in the firmware where the aGPS is located...or since i flashed the radio without unlocking the xperia it might have corrupted it ?? Do we need to unlock the xperia before updating the radio?
Any one with ideas, please?

state which ROMs your having the problem with, i don't believe you have to unlock your phone. and if all your other "phone" functions work then i don't think the radio is your problem. also do you hard reset after each ROM flash? try that too. is this only over Data connection or is it via wi-fi too etc.

I've tried the following roms, with a hard reset even sometimes i did it twice.
Valkyrie v.5.5 21889 & 21885
EnergyRom Leo & Phoenix both 21889
Touch-IT BL Landscape 21889
I thought it was only with these new versions (21889) and tried a rom (EnergyRom Phoenix 21885 Dec 14th) which i had My Location working before the radio update the first time...it was working fine....but now i am using it on a daily basis and it has this problem, it just wont update...only rarely if i play around with settings and reset the xperia, it might work but 85% time it fails....
All other functions work...
i have not tried it over Wifi...i have 6GB data plan on Rogers Wireless Canada...it use to work with it on this same rom with radio 1.14, which is what i am on now....i never went back to 1.16 after the problem started!

have you started google maps service for once? my location is part of google service, once you connect gsm to your provider, run google maps, click to agree their terms and condition, you are set.

I'm using TouchX 10.9.1 "Nuts!", which supports the my location service. I'm having no trouble at all with the location service with radio version 1.16.25.48, so I would suggest your problem exists elsewhere.

what i thought is that once you connect to gsm provider, it will give your bts location which this info then fed to google maps service, hence weather info on that location. If you're going somewhere, weather info will be updated based on where your position at that time.
But i might be wrong ...try it - it is important that you click to agree during google map service setup.
yeah....i flashed the ROM then did a hard reset...then waited until the Connection wizard finished....then went to Googlemaps...agreed to all the information...even used gps function to locate me on the map. Then closed it and went to weather tab and hit update....it just updates the default cities and fails on My Location.....
I did not try WM 6.1 Roms just because i dont like it...but if it works on it i might try it later...and let you know...thank you for the information
Not a fan of 6.1? Personally I find 6.5.x to be comparatively unstable (After trying various roms, valkyrie, touch-it BL LS, etc, after recieving multiple crashes and/or reboots per day. MrRusch's TouchX 10.9.1 "Nuts!" is stable beyond any reasonable expectation, it's fast, and it's freakin' sexy.
Exact same problem started occuring for me just after midnight yesterday. Everything was working fine beforehand. I am using 1.16 /1.14 DLL and Valkyrie 5.5 23518
Same problem with 3G, fine with GPRS/EDGE
same problem in Touch X Nuts version with WM 6.1....the rom is very fast though and simple.... Something to note though is that it doesn't even come with Googlemaps pre-installed and the weather update worked and then stopped...after a reset...
issue could be in the cell tower you are connecting to. I have similar issue here - I am in Toronto, when I am at home, my phone initially thinks I am in downtown Montreal (until GPS taxes fix). That does not happen once I step into another cell tower (location works fine everywhere else). This started happening couple of months ago during the night. Similar experience to poster above. I suspect it is due to misconfigured stuff in the cell tower that serves me.
ok..i think its true about this tower problem...its been happening recently as well ever since Rogers started using HSDPA for their data connections in Ontario....i live in Hamilton Ontario....whenever i update using HSDPA i SOMETIMES get MY Location to point to ONTARIO but never to Hamilton..but on trying the above users tip (Switching to EDGE/GPRS) it seems to work 100% of the time with 100% accuracy...it says Hamilton...i just cant use EDGE here because its killing my battery....anyone have a solution to turn off EDGE like you can turn HSDPA off in the tweaks...i tried using the registry hack & tweaking using HD Tweak but neither work.....
Thank you guys for solving this issue...i hope ROGERS fixes their tower issue or we get an update to our phones that can make it work with HSDPA...

I'm gonna suggest something, thats probably been tried.
Run QuickGPS and get the latest satellite info and try to update my location again.
Hi TS. I believe this is a problem that exist in WM6.5.3 ROMs... I tested a few and I was facing the same problem as u. Once I reverted back to older roms... my location we shown properly...
the My Location feature, has NOTHING to do with GPS.
It uses Cell location ID that finds your location based on where you are in proportion to the Mobile phone Tower(s?) your connected to. then this gets fed into Google which gives it a location to search
On some of the newer roms (Valkyrie being amongst them) you have to enable location service as it is not on by default. Just click weather tab and then menu and then enable the service.

LOL. Thanks for figuring out that I'm not nuts. I was alternatively getting locations in downtown Toronto or downtown Montreal for no rhyme or reason. Good to know that Ancaster is still near Hamilton and not in Quebec.
I am using Valkyrie ROM, and I have the same problem: cannot update my location in this ROM via GPRS or 3G, but I can still suft Web smoothly via 3g or GPRS and update location via Wifi.
Can anyone solve this problem?

Mobile internet connection drop and unable to got online or using web browser etc.
It cannot be fixed w/ rebooting.
Now it seems i can use disable/reenable 3G/3G switch and turn on/off 3g connection several time to make this work.
But it is still annoying

Same problem here. The gmail search on server bug is really annoying!
I'm having the same problem as of today, my mobile data connection has dropped. I've tried rebooting, switching to airplane mode, re-enabling/disabling 3G/E multiple times. But the issue remains.

- Use the Diagnosis app
-Open up the Diagnosis app.
-Dial this (to enable autoconfigure sim setting): *#94765#
-It will ask you to restart the device. Confirm that.

I've had issues with this for months. In fact since upgrading to Mango.
It's not hardware as I now have a warranty replacement and this one has the problem too. My sister also had hers replaced under warranty for the same issue and the issue remains for hers too.

Can anyone confirm/unconfirm if this works? Getting really sick of this now. Restarting was fixing it, but now nothing. I'll add my views to your thread.
Had the data issue for months, it was so bad i stooped using the device.
Then as in old windows mobile i decided to flash another rom witch included another radio from another carrier, in this case a french one, well it did work ,then i could use the phone everywhere.
I cant tell you the rom version at the moment because i got a test roam loaded, but i can certainly find out later.

The rom was Mango fro sfr france.

Yup, it has fix it.
I got it from HERE
Before that i could not do anything over 2/3g.
Now it works just fine.
One thing i remember, the device will boot in French, but you can change to English after in the control panel.
Before doing anything make a Device backup!

Currently using the above radio with a custom rom v 24.24.11.9.4 and no problems with data.

can confirm that it doesn't work - sadly :-( - It has the effect of setting the switch in Network profile app (something you only get in unbranded ROMs by default..
BTW there is a thread on this in the Omnia 7 general forum
I had the same issue also but after using Healthcliffs fix 3g.xap my problem went away.

Yeah, my radio Hardware and Software version are exactly the same as yours..but i have problems, i guess i'll try flashing the french rom.. There aren't any other problems with it, right?
I got a custom rom that does not have this problems,will try to upload tomorow.
