Hi,
yesterday, I did the hard spl and then flashed my xperia with a new rom. I just wanted to try a new rom but i was wondering if i have to hard spl everytime i change roms???
if not, then what happens if i do it? if yes, then what happens if i dont do the hard spl?
Also, if someone can explain what hard spl actually is.
please reply.
Thanks
hard spl is a bootloader from which you can load unsigned ROMs.
Hars spl is the thing that makes custom roms usable
you don't have to hard spl your device everytime you want to flash a rom.
it stays in your device if you might say so
regards
Thanks a lot
I really dont have to HardSPL before Flashing, if I did it once?
Thats cool - even if I hardreseted after that?
Hard reset is just for rom: it does not apply to the Hard SPL

Ok here is the question i followed the Flash guide to flashed the wing with Biggy 3v with no problems. now i want to try a different rom but it says i need to hard spl load it can i do that with out any problems if i follow the hard spl guide ?
umm...yeah. Thats the idea, isn't it?
Yeah. Even if you mess up, you can always unbrick, so no worries.
My Kaiser just arrived in the mail, and it came preloaded with DCS 1.7 rom. Since this ROM has already been loaded, I assume the the CID is already unlocked and HARD SPL has already been run once.
So does this mean I don't have to run it again to flash to Dutty's latest rom? Thanks.
not a good assumption, as there are other ways of flashing without hardspl. just put the device in bootloader and see if it says.....something with olipof in it. if that's the case the case then you have hardspl
And if I have HARD SPL, then I just go ahead and flash the Dutty ROM?

Thanks. I read through a lot of that stuff already.
I just checked and HARD SPL is already on the phone. So now it's safe to flash Dutty's rom?
Soounds like you have your answer
Well, it sounds like you've checked so if you're sure, flash away. Although, if you haven't already, I'd do a id10t check first to be doubly sure (i.e. press the camera button+Power button+soft reset) and verify you have Hardspl installed otherwise you run the risk of brickin your phone.

it doesnt hurt to do it again? or am i wrong? its just to be on the safe side
Hello, my device has a SPL of 5.04.0000 and I want a new ROM on it because it still runs WM5...
Now, in some threads I read that devices with an SPL higher than 4.xx.xxxx do not need to hard SPL it... but I'm not sure about it...
Can anyone give me the correct answer on the question if I need to hard SPL my device?
Let me first tell you im still a new flasher myself (Atleast to PDA's, Ive flashed PSP's And numerous other phones) and the way I read it, its much safer to flash with the HardSPL. I had the 4.00+ SPL and Still HardSPL'ed my TMo Wing. Its quick, easy, and it also sped up my phone quite a bit by taking off uneeded junk! Any questions please feel free to ask. Ill help as much as possile.
So if I understand everything, it is nessaserry to HardSPL my Herald before I can flash it with another ROM? And there is no difference with phones with an SPL of 2.XXX or 4.XXX or in y case 5.XXX? It still has to get an Hard SPL?
Well,
you will definitely need Hard SPL when intending to use a custom ROM! But beware: All devices with an SPL below 4 will brick when trying to Hard SPL them. So be sure to have an SPL of at least 4. Don't know if there's any workaround or w/e.
Cheers
I have an SPL above 4 so it will work! There are different "ways" to hard SPL the phone... does anyone know what the easiest way is?
Heres the thread I used.... it was quick and painless lol.... Clickity Click! But before u get started if you have windows vista there will be a few minor issues, but i can walk ya through that if necessary.
Used that thread as well. Works flawless
Cheers
i forget it , very stupid.
but i use touch-it rom for two days it's not hang or anything.

That's weird
The hard-SPL let you flash custom roms on your device.
Maybe the hard-SPL is included in the Touch-it, not sure about that
As long you don't have problems, there's no reason to worry about
i didn't used it either, and didn't start with the touch rom, but another one.
And don't have any problems yet, can flash every rom
greatz

there is no need to make a hard spl every time you flash a rom. The first hard spl you do will stay "forever" and allows you to flash as many custom roms as you want.
Dont forget to read the forums. There are a lot of helpful FAQs and threads around. Just do a search.
Woo Hoo !
i will buy pizza for all you guys !
last flash i forgot the hard spl, too. But instead of flashing the new rom my phone stays at the old one...
very strange ^^ reflash with hardspl helps

Yeah like someone said before
The Hard SPL stays
only if you have some problems you can reflash it with hard SPL again and with a custom roms, but if you don't have any probs, you don't have to do it anymore ;-)
I'm not sure if this is correct (correct me if i'm wrong), but if you flash your phone with an official rom/firmware, the hard-spl-thing will be gone.
So after flashing with an official rom/fw, you'll need to flash the hard-spl again if you want a custom rom on it.
hm... i think you have missunderstand me... ^^
I wasn't able to flash the new Custom Rom. I tried to do so and the phone was in bootloader mode and then there comes the thing that says "23%" ... "24%" and so on...
But after the Soft Reset ("...100%") there wasnt the new rom on my phone but the old one...
So that didnt work for me...
I think you have to flash the hard spl every time before you can flash a custom rom

No, you don`t need too, HardSPL stays forever.
And why wasn't I able to flash a new rom without hardspl first?

Because, before you flash custom rom for the first time, you need to HardSPL first, but only one time.
Remove, duplicate post
hm... This was my 30. flash of a custom rom, I think.
Can`t say, .nbh file was damaged in some way, but if u flash same file after HardSPL, hmm.. wierd Never happend to me.
I have flashed my Tilt and my Wizard numerous times but I'm wondering if it matters which you should flash first.
if you have the HTC base rom fro your device should you go right to the custom rom and then the spl and then radio or does it even matter what the order is.
normally I put the SPL and then Radio and then the custom rom.
Is there any preference on this?
Cheers
Chris
As long as you have HardSPL'd your kaiser, and the custom rom doesn't have a radio included in it, then it doesnt matter which order you flash the rom and radio.

ok cool and if you HardSPL'd your kaiser once to go to a custom rom and then decide to change to a different one so you go back to the stock rom does that change your SPL back or once its changed its changed for good?
To be honest I dont even see where the SPL shows.

Chris

I think I found my answer regarding Hard SPL's "A Hard SPL is one that is permanently flashed in your device memory and will boot up every time your device boots." http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=SPL Questions?
So I guess you only have to do this once. If I'm mistaken please let me know.
Cheers,
Chris

Correct you only do it once unless you wanna change your hard-spl to a different version.
