Alright, I am sure this is a common question but I did a google (and forum) search for G1 boot screen mod and such but all that came up were people with semi-bricked phones and how to fix it.
So decided to post simple question.
I remember seeing a video of some guy having a different boot screen other then the classic "T-Mobile G1" screen and I was wondering if there is a way to change the boot screen to something more appealing to us AT&T users to something more along the lines of an HTC logo?

Hey i have no idea what happened but i tried putting the touch it on to My phone after the hardspl was put in but now it is not even starting up it is only staying at the CanonYang start up screen can you help me or did i brick it
try booting your phone into the boot loader and then reflash another or the same rom to it. My kaiser did the exact same thing to me using the newly released "Official Tilt Rom" off of the HTC website. I lost my information but at least I was able to put on a different rom. Hopefully this helps.
How???
HOw do i do that because the phone is only starting up to the like "welcome screen" of Canon Yang?
Look in the xda wiki to find your phone or variant. On the kaiser you do a soft reset using the stylus and hold down the camera button until you see the 3 colored lines. Other phones are different so don't forget about checking that wiki. I never knew what it was until a while ago when someone explained it all to me and then showed me. There should be a link on top of your page or on the side that says XDA-Wiki. They even have pictures of your phone if you do not know what it is since companies use the same phone and release it with thier own name. Hence the ATT Tile is a variant of the HTC Kaiser. I hope this helps.

I agree. All the Herald forums have this same new thread. Isn't one enough?
Davenumber, you can edit your preferences under the quicklinks drop down menu on top of your page. Edit your profile and tell it to send you an E-mail as soon as someone responds to your thread. This will allow you to get notified as soon as someone responds and you will not have to post in multiple forums. Best of luck. Let me know what happens.
Yeah but the thing is
The problem is the phone wont even start up it stays on the Canon Yang screen (like when you restart or start up the phone). so yeah i am kinda thinking it is bricked
unbrick it with the RUU.
If you're coming up to a canonyang screen, it would appear that hardspl worked ... so You should be able to flash any rom you want from bootloader.
Touch Screen not working, how can I get past the touch the Android boot screen with the keyboard? I picket a phone that someone messed up installing a rom on prett ycheaply from a used phone shop... I am flashing it to find out I think the touch screen doesnt work. I am tryign to find out what I can do..
I got it flashed but cant get past the boot "touch the android" Initial screen to get to the terminal to try to run fix permissions in order to see if that will fix the screen and update teh recovery console so I can try to load some different mods easier..
Anyone know if it easy to fix a touchscreen? The display works... there is no visible damage...
theres been threads about this. but ill point ya in the right direction, first it would be good to know what your running. find the build ur using and follow that thread throughly, most issues have been solved. if your running cm4.x theres a DL for a touch fix...
I am loading cyancs latest on my spare mytouch (promise pure G1 user to heart) and I got everything working and loading till about the part where it is supposed to load the home screen after the android logo...All it does is black out on me and stays there. I was wondering any feedback if possible
(Yes I know mytouch on a G1 forum section...I feel like I get better help here then on the sapphire section lol..Hail G1 Users)
Ok I'll make it short My T-Mobile G1 boot normally I get the logos screen G1 & T-mobile then... nothing; the screen either stay on back light or if I remove the battery & restart the phone shows the logos & all & then a white screen with some random colored red all over the screen.
Please guys I need your help in this matter & thunk you in advance.
you need to tell us what you did to get to that point... did you just flash some firmware? battery ran out while running.... any number of things could be the issue, a little history on the phone would be helpfull indeed
In fact, we CAN'T help you without those details. Anything we "guessed" might be the problem, and provided you a solution for, could make the problem worse, possibly even brick your phone, if we don't know the details of how you got where you are.
When you hold home while booting, what happens.
And yes, please give more info.
Hello everybody! I am new here and do not currently own an android device and have a tmobile g1 question. Some one on craigslist is selling a g1 and titling it as soft bricked. He says it is stuck at the tmobile screen. How would you fix this? I was thinking of purchasing it to mess around with android for a good price. Anyone know how you would fix this/ restore it from this state? If there is nothing I could do than I would just save abit more and buy a different one.
You wont know until you have the phone on your hands, not a lot of people are truthful now a days.
First see if he has rooted it, by pressing the home+power on start up, unfortunately I use Amon RA Recovery image which means I only know what that recovery image looks like which in most cases all fonts are green and it gives you options, if you can get into that, then that means that he was trying to flash a ROM on to it and not had the right SPL on it "or so I am believing".
Also check the conditions of the phone, i.e broken screen, swollen battery, etc... Also be careful with people from CriagList, also follow their guidelines for your safety.
