Battery drain with no signal

My diamond's battery doesnt last very long as it is but where I work I dont get any signal, and seems to drain twice as fast
Is the fact its trying to constantly get signal thats doing this?
Any suggestions much appreciated....
Rom = Shaks.P v4.00
Radio = 1.09.25.23
my girl HAD the same problem too. i told her that since there's NO signal, the machine will constantly search for available networks. the only alternative to this is to either switch off the phone or put in airplane mode. by putting the phone in airplane mode, the phone will not be constantly searching. have you ever notice that using 3G network uses more juice than that of 2G? she gave it a shot (airplane mode) and the problem of battery drain no longer bugs her.
Thanks, will give the airplane mode a shot
Yes, airplane mode will stop it from searching networks because all communications are shut down.
You can also prevent the battery drainage by turning the phone off or throwing it in a glass of water
If you still want to be able to use the phone (function) you don't want to use airplane mode
Also most ROMs by default have the BEAM "Receive all incoming beams." switched on. Switching it off helps as well.
I also suggest trying other radio's and switching 3G off for phone calls....

No Sleep Mode

Hey,
i´ve a problem. My i9000 doesn´t turn into sleep mode. the display-battery-usage is around 98%. I think a program denies the phone to sleep.
have you an idea how to locate the program or this problem?
thanks a lot.
Mine is 98% on froyo too, but my phone does go to sleep. Maybe the froyo battery stats are just innacurate? Or the screen is really that power hungry?
can´t be. i´ve done the factory reset and now it works. i turned off the display for 5minutes and the display usage was around 60%. now i install my backup and hope that it works

[Q] Airplane Mode turning on by itself after phone is shut down for a while

Been trying to find another thread with this issue, but others seem to have a problem where the airplane mode turns itself on while the phone is already on - not the same problem I have.
So right now, I'm using my HTC DZ while prepping my O2X for a potential sale unless the SU660 sources drop in time.
For about 3 weeks my O2X was powered off and kept away.
I decided to turn it on for some testing and put my SIM card inside. When I booted up the phone, the airplane mode was stuck on. I tried to toggle it off, and it didn't go off after 5 seconds, so I tried rebooting. No dice.
Then I tried booting up the O2X without a SIM inside - the airplane mode showed as being off. So I put back the SIM, and booted it up - airplane mode turned itself on again!
Finally, I was able to turn off the airplane mode by going to the Settings-> Wireless and Networks screen, and staring at the screen for about 90 seconds while the "Turning off..." message took its own sweet time. If I left this screen, or put the phone back to sleep, while the airplane mode was trying to turn off, then it would never turn off. It also would not turn off if I tried to use a widget, or if I tried using the toggle from the menu that appears from holding down the power button.
Now, what's scary is that this is not an isolated case.
After restoring network functionality, I decided try manually turning on the airplane mode. It turned on instantly. When I tried to turn it off, the airplane mode again took roughly 90 seconds to turn off - and I had to leave it in the settings screen to do so.
Later on, I powered off the O2X, left it for about 3 hours, and then powered it on with the SIM inside. Again, the airplane mode turned itself on - and took forever to turn off.
In all test cases, the battery was at least 70% full. This can't be proper behavior, since my considerably less powerful DZ is able to turn off airplane mode in less than 5 seconds.
Anyone else have such a problem? I am using CM7.2 stable with the Etana kernel if that helps. I also used GetRIL and APN Manager when I first got the phone to ensure baseband and RIL matched.

Hmm, I tried this after leaving the phone off for about 1 hour and it managed to boot without turning on airplane mode. Seems to work for now.
Thanks for the heads-up. Hope I wasn't just lucky. I'll be testing it again overnight to be sure

Seven hours later - your solution holds up. Also, manually toggling the airplane mode on and off now takes a few seconds at most, like it should be

Stamina mode - Help Needed

Hi Guys,
I got my XZ on the 1st of march and I absolutely love it, in fact the only thing I preferred about my previous Note 2 was the larger screen, everything else on the XZ is just better.
Anyway.... I'm getting mixed results with stamina mode.
At first, after a full charge I stamina mode would report several days standby time, nut in the last week I only get about 12 hours.
Last night I didnt put the phone on charge, it had 60% battery when I went to bed, I wake up this morning (only 8 hours later) and the battery is on 4%. I checked the battery usage and it said 51% Android system (up till now the screen had been the largest user of battery)
Now I know its probabbly some app preventing stamina mode from putting the phone to sleep, but I cant work out which one.
Is there any way to see specifically which app or part of the android system is using that much power while the phone is on standby?
Are there some options I'm missing which force all apps to sleep?
Does stamina mode automatically turn off wifi and gps when the phone is on standby?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Stamina Mode not working?
look at my screenshots
the first two days the difference with and without stamina-mode was huge...so from 1day to 3-4 days
sync is off
facebook deaktivated
and lots of other things are deaktivated
only whatsapp is on
what could the problem be?
if stamina mode is on...every thing is deaktivated...there aren't extra apps which still will down/upld data in stamina mode
Akkuschonmodus - I do not have this enabled along with Stamina mode.
Why are you if you are on 92% ?
Should have nothing to do with this problem tho.
Kind regards, Stefan.

i experienced this too
and don think any problem
cause when u use phone and apps they store lots of data that need to process (the exclude apps in stamina)
So time will reduce.
i had 4 days now i have 1day.14hrs BUT after 48hrs it didn't use even 50% of battery. (it was 54% )
anyway if u think u have problem restart ur phone with power button + vol.up (hold down 10 seconds)
and then turn on ur phone.
Or reset factory.

stamina mode timing

hi guys, i have stamina mode enabled with all the options ticked , but ive noticec weird problem , my friend also have z3c , he had 40% battery left and standby time was showing ''3 days'' and i had 92% with the device being in like 8 hours deep sleep but myn was showing just ''19'' hours and if i disable stamina mode so it comes to ''10'' hours just , any ideas?
you could have some rogue program that is running in the background. also if your phone is new, then it will take awhile for the phone to adjust it's estimated time based on your usage.
In my experience the left time timer adjust to your normal battery life. When I got this phone it showed 3 days but like every week it got lower to adventually stop with a good indication.
So I guess your friends phone is probably new or fresly reset.
(don't now if it is true but it is my experience , and hope you will understand me not really good in englise and explaining things )
Yeah guys it's okay now and working normal I don't know what happened to my phone those days , thank you
