How do I get xp to NOT group multiple windows of the same app. together? For example, running 4 separate windows of Internet Explorer, instead of showing them as 4 individual tabs at the bottom of the screen, XP groups them together into one tab.
right click on the taskbar at the bottom of the page, then left click on properties
you need to untick the "group similar taskbar buttons" option

i have a quick question:
i recently installed the htc home 6 button screen, and the htc home customizer
on the program launcher window there originally was an icon that takes me to the comm manager/wireless manager but i removed in an effort to re-arrange the buttons. but now i cant find it in the list of apps to add.
would it be possible for someone to direct me on how to get it back? thanks.

When you remove an icon from the launcher, there should be an empty space with a circle with a cross in it. Pressing that, should bring up thelist of apps you're talking about. On my device, it is just a few scrolling lines down.
Have you tried just typing "Comm Manager" in the top bar and press select?
unfortunately no luck on the typing in and hitting select. it just goes to the closest match in my case "contacts"
It was originally one of the first six or so items in the selection menu, if its not there i dont know where it would be.
I want the same thing, to add the Comm Manager to one of the launcher buttons, rather than trying to tap the connection icon at the top of the screen.
i use pocket toolman 2 which places a icon in the system tray with a host of other icons you can select. its quick, easy, and free... good app

I am not 100% sure which one but either Schaps advanced config or KaiserTweak one of those two things have option to enable wireless thingy on today screen. It shows your current wifi and bluetooth connections and clicking takes you to connection manager. I would first try KaiserTweak.

Worked out how to do it earlier.
Browse to the windows folder and make sure you've got all files visible.
Look for the executable CommManager.exe, right click on it, select copy.
Browse to windows\Start Menu\Programs\Tools right click, select paste shortcut.
Right click and rename the new short cut from, "Shortcut to CommManager.exe" to CommManager
Then it will be visible in the list of applications you can add to your shortcut buttons on the HTC homescreen. You can use the same method for any other applications you want on the launcher if they're not available automatically.
(I pasted the shortcut where I thought it most appropriate on the start menu).
thanks 6thElement. that shortcut worked.
thanks TimeSaver. i used KaiserTweak to enable wireless on the today screen initially.
This trick did not work for me. I have the Dutty WM6.1 Diamond ROM.
I need to put the Connection Manager on the Today screen, so that it can show me what am I connected to, but it does not show up in the Today item list.
I created a Registry key for iy in HKLM\Softwate\Microsoft\Today\Items and it showed up in the list, but still does not work, brobably because I am linking to the wrong DLL.
May someone, who has the CommManaget on their Today screen see what are the correct Registry entries in HKLM\Softwate\Microsoft\Today\Items for the Comm Manager and post here?
never mind my previous post - I found that what I was looking for was called "wireless" and can be added through the Kaiser tweak....
Hey guys. I've got Ultimate Launch and I want to be able to see what programs are running on the today screen. Maybe an icon row at the bottom. ANy ideas?
-josh
try spb ilauncher. do a search on it.
Wisebar Advanced will show you what programs are running in the top bar of the today screen. Check it out HERE.
Magic Button is on title bar but does not cover any standard info. Only 80 KB executable file. Makes close button really close applications. Can be found here :
http://www.trancreative.com/mb.aspx
doesnt regular taskmanager that comes with tilt show you what applications are running..and you can close them...why use another one?
wktask is a my favourite.
You can alter the size of the tabs, hide system applications and LOADS of other options. Oh and it's free. It is one of the most reliable and light applications of this type and is cooked into a lot of XDA dev ROMs. Get the latest version HERE
Hy,
is it possible to change one setting?
when i open the standard calender throut TF3D there i can scroll down or up by using TF3D. But i can't go right or left to flow throu the next day or the last day. I must use the pen to press M/T/W/T/F/S/S in the Top of my Screen.
Is there a software or one registry to change this?
Thanks
Clamsy
try using left/right hard-buttons (located left and right from the centre wheel)
I know this is usual.
But maybe there is a possibility to use the TF3D so scroll left or right in the calender.
I recently bought TD2, and is by no means a big fan of the new startmenu. How is it possible to replace it with the "old" one ?
I've been searching the forum, since I've heard of a little program that can fix this issue, but without luck .
Thanks in advance !
The new start menu comes as part of Touch Flo 3D.....If you distable TF3D in settings\personal\today\items, you get the old menu system.
I'm amazed that anyone would prefer the old WM one.

There are two great lacks in the new menu :
1. too few items available in the 'icons' start page, and no kind of sub-folders or program groups.
then
2. if you go in the full list because your program is not in the icons page, the list can be long and fastidious.
Hope it will be corrected in next version and be available for D2, or windows 6.5 titanium/CHome will replace TF3D
Try TF3D2 Tweak in this thread

Thank you all, for your replies .
If you just want to change the start menu but leave Manila turned on, just change the following in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu\Enable ManilaStartMenu =dword:00000000
After a restart you have the old start menu
Is it possiple too keep both ways?
I mean when you press the start menu on the top of the screen to have the old start menu and when you press the windows hard key to have the new one?
I think this would be more usefull for many people who like the new menu but want some features of the old one!

Ah right, I see. I've not hit that issue, I guess I just don't use that many programs!
One question: how can I enable the old style like in WM 6.1.
I use 6.5 without Manilla (UDK R1.)
It's annoying to select start/settings/connections if you want to set more the 1 thing...bluetooth, WIFI etc....also for programs.
Or how can I customize the start menu in 6.5 ...order, content...
another way
This would keep the new start menu when you tap on "start" and make pop-up a replica similar whith the old one when you tap on windows or whatever icon you have on the upper left corner of the screen near the text "start". I didn't make this just downloaded from somewhere.

Doesn't seem to work on my Diamond2. (Does nothing)
I was wondering if someone could do a buttom like the settings buttom in the new start menu that could open the old programs menu.
I think this shouldn't be so difficult, since there is a similar buttom for the settings.
Welcome here Liviu. (Bine ai venit pe aici, marfa site-u pt HTC-uri)
I try it Quick Menu, it's like Windows PC START menu and it's hard to use with a finger
I speak about the old menu from WM6.1 not Pc windows...
Ksara it's works on TD2 I try it and work well but it's not what I want.
You are right Pauln, it's not finger friendly but hei! that stylus is there so ...
Anyway for me it does the job so here is a pic for those who want an alternative. The icon "Quick menu" you will find also in Programs.

I'm one of them. I disabled touchflo and installed spb pocket plus: I've got everything in sight, with no need to flip over strange desktops and icons!
I found these registry entries somewhere else and i thing these are the key to make a shortcut in manila programs folder to the old Programs folder Just like there is for the settings folder (number 3)
"Remove the locked program tab items
Code:
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/0/IsReadOnly
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/1/IsReadOnly
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/2/IsReadOnly
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/3/IsReadOnly
Change this value from 1 to a 0 and you can then edit their shortcuts."
Please someone who is familiar with this , create a shortcut.

But what is the way to do it, because I don't want to install some software that almost does the same. I want it the old way.
Please help.
Hi everyone,
My phone just came back from Telecare (they repaired my phone), and now I am missing the little tab/icon in the upper right corner to show running apps. Telecare swithced the motherboard AFAIK, and now I have Sense 2.5.2 running on WinMo 6.5. But there is no icon in the corner, so I can't access running programs!
What can I do?
Use file explorer and set it to show files in the rom. Then click on Windows & then task manager (or TskMgr.exe). Then go to the "Button" tab and tick the "Enable Quick Menu on Today screen" option.
Worth having a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664520&highlight=Running+programs and similar threads.
This is a well-known (and well covered) issue.

This soluce d'nt work on WM 6.5 : no TskMgr.exe on WM 6.5 (it's for WM 6.1)
Serge (France)
Just install QuickMenu for the built in Task manager.
