Has anyone tried yet?

yep, works for me.
I got my HD7 earlier today, and so far everything works on my grandfathered 5.99 t-zones.
Hopefully this doesn't change.

Thank you! That's what I thought since Tzones also works on HD2. I am assuming same goes with the Dell Venue Pro.

So does it mean if I have a t-zones then I can use full web + email on hd7? I thought t-zones is only to use the t-mobile's online portal where you can see your account info, latest movies, etc? and does the t-zones account offer 3g speeds ?

For those who are using t-zone/web2go on the HD7, has there been any limitations so far?
1) Have you been caught?
2) Is it detectable via t-mobile.com under your tmobile account?
3) How are the speeds? Edge speeds?

I've been using it on my hd7 for the last three weeks. Great 3G speeds of about 4mb down. Edge speed is obviously slower but 3G coverage is great here in Austin so I'm never on edge.
Used tzones on my nexus, hd2 and now hd7 and never been caught.
Problem is of course they won't offer tzones anymore if you ask for it.
Tzones is the only reason I'm still with tmobile. 5 dollar full unlimited Internet per month is just unbeatable
FYI tzones is not the same as web2go. Web2go offers limitations and is only used for "dumb" phones. Tzones was the internet option offered back in the day like five years ago when smart phones didn't exist so people who had tzones then are able to use the internet just like the people who pay 30 dollars for the unlimited smartphone internet plan

Mine works perfectly with T-Zones.
When I bought mine at best buy there was a t-mo rep there that confirmed & I was like really? She said yes, it works with all smartphones, lol.

I guess it's one of those, as long as you don't change your plan, you should be fine kind of things.

Just bought a Galaxy Note and been reading all the topic posts on the different options for using my Note. Haven't figured out what's best so maybe I'll ask for people's experiences and get suggestions.
This will be a 2nd phone for me since my company already pays for a phone for me on Sprint, and I got tired of waiting for Sprint to come out (if ever) of their version of the Note. I already have an Epic 4G and we get WiMax here in the SF Bay Area, so I don't mind continuing using that since my company pays the bill.
What I would like to do on my Note would be mainly email, web browsing, texting and maybe a few phone calls, but since I have my other phone, phone calls are secondary. The one thing I really like doing THE MOST is watching YouTube videos and streaming songs from Google Music (Now called Play Music or whatever). On my Samsung Epic 4G with Sprint, I average between 3 and 4 GBs per month on data usage.
So in short my questions are:
1. Should I go with Straight Talk $45 Unlimited Plan, AT&T Unlimited $50 Go Phone Plan, or piggyback on my parent's AT&T postpaid plan ($10 to add a line, $30 for unlimited data + unlimited messaging for non-smartphone ie dumbphone plan)?
2. Which one of these would give the best possible data speeds? I know they all use AT&T's network but I've read that GoPhone plans are (possibly) throttled vs postpaid?
3. Which is more likely to raise red flags when using data? I know there is no such thing as truly unlimited data, but which plan is more "lenient" in your data use or will probably let you download a little more data than another option. I've read on Straight Talk, you should try not to go over 100 MB/day or 2 GB/month, but are those limits also similar on GoPhone unlimited or postpaid with dumbphone data.
Anything else I should know?

i say try straighttalk since it no contract and if they ban u for useing to much fake unlimted data try at&t but i think its crap how these compony ban people f em lol almost like a scam

I'm currently using my old grand fathered unlimted Ipad sim in mine. Currently 3GB for $30 does not seem too bad, No contract. Just buy and Ipad 3g and activate and sell it. I've used that sim in an iPhone, mifi, my laptop and now the Gnote and ATT has never said anything. No phone calls or text, the work a rounds aren't great but they do work.
Once Sprint sees fit to let me out of my contract I was thinking of giving Straight talks a go

If you go with the Ipad sim, you will need an adapter to make the sim larger. I have a micro sim punch so I took an old full sized sim and punched out the sim and used the left over card board as the adapter. You may need to do some filing with a nail file but it seems to work the best compared to the plastic adapters you find. You will have be carful remove the aim sum and adapter from a device.

Using ST with my note for 4 full months now, very satisfied. I am not a heavy mobile data user though, I just do some browsing while out and about, read some news on pulse, and check e-mail a few times a day.

Thanks for some of the suggestions so far, but has anyone tried the AT&T post paid plan with the data for dumb phone plan or the old medianet plan lately? I assume it still works because AT&T does not have the IMEIs of the international version in their database? And they fixed the problem with it showing up as a Galaxy Tab? I read that you could delete out the /EFS directory and have it show up as a generic phone or use an IMEI from a loaner phone as well, but I haven't seen any posts regarding these strategies newer than January so not to sure if AT&T figured this out.

Had data working great on the GoPhone plan.. then downloaded some 600mb of files (don't really remember what, I think it was a few ROMs), and two days later my internet was shut off.. so the moral here is, don't be stupid with it if you get it to work on the gophone plan

No way I would download that much at one time, I think I do maybe 100-200 MB/day on average at the most. The question with you (and thanks for answering btw), is what kind of download speeds were you getting on the GoPhone plan? Were you getting FauxG speeds (HSPA+) or was it throttled? And did you have to do anything special to make it work on the GoPhone plan or was it a matter of just putting the correct APNs?

I have a wifi Nexus, and use a dongle to connect to the net when there is no wifi available, could you confirm that, virgin sim cards work with dongles and is it legal or not?

I know that Three probably don't have the best reputation but the plan I am on is amazing
I bought one of their sim only plans on a one month contract. Disregarding the text and voice allowance, since this is designed for a phone, it comes with all you can eat data. All for £12.50 a month! The one catch if you can call it that, is tethering isn't allowed, but that doesn't bother me.
The network is probably not as good as others, but its held up pretty well while I've been using it. I suggest others give it a try before over spending on other networks. I find they tend to short change in terms of data.

Sorry I have no idea about dongles I have only used the sim in the Nexus and an iPad so not sure if they would have any way to tell if it was in a dongle or if that was against T&Cs

Not really a comparison £12.50 a MONTH on contract against £35 or less for a YEAR without contract?

What about the T-Mobile £10 iPhone microSIM deal that includes free data for a year? Wouldn't that still be the best? Or is there some drawback with that?

You need to have access to an unlocked (or on the T-Mobile network) iPhone 4 or 4S to get the offer. If you have then it works. I didn't (the iPhone I was goign to use was locked to Vodaphone) and instead I used the £20 for 6 months offer they have. Not as good as the virgin offer above, but it worked (SMS and data are both fine) and its pretty cheap. You're limited to 500mb data / month with T-mobile's fair use policy.

Setup one of these: T-Mobile SIM from eBay, today. Works fine in my MiFi and is ready if/when I get my hands on a Nexus 7 3G.

Ah OK, I wondered if that might be the case. As it happens, I do have access to an unlocked iPhone 4S (not mine, I hasten to add).
I haven't got my N7 3G yet - if only I could find somewhere to buy one - but I have bought a 3-month 3GB Three SIM for just under £11, in readiness. After 3 months though, my custom is up for grabs.

Its a 1 month rolling contract, so you are hardly tied down. The advantages of unlimited data outweigh my concerns. Worst comes to the worst, I cancel it with one months notice. It is hardly a massive obligation.

No it clearly says in the description 12 months free web (1Gb a month)
When you buy the package they give you one of these scratchcards, you text the code on the card and you get a text back saying 1gb a month has been added to you your account this month and for the next 12 months.
Its only £10 a month if you don't buy the phones that come with the free 12 months web

I believe that virgin uses EE's network. So cover should be pretty good

Can anyone update this thread on an economical data SIM deal for use with the N7 3G in the UK? I'm after something that would give say <500Mb a month for occasional use.
I have one of the T-Mobile iPhone SIMs that works fine in most things but won't work in the N7 (I've tried it in 2 N7s now) and the Virgin deal mentioned earlier seems to have finished.
Any info appreciated.

I'm not in the UK but I've heard of giffgaff which is an O2 MVNO. They have a £5/month 500 MB tablet plan.

Hi. Thanks for that. I should have said in my original post that I need to avoid any O2 based services. O2 data connections are pretty dire in the places I normally use my devices. Vodafone is a bit better but not great. I've got a T-Mobile SIM that I use in a MiFi with my N7 and that works fine in most places so I'm probably looking for something from T-Mobile/Orange (EE) or Virgin.

Regarding the Tmo iPhone SIM, could it be an APN issue or are they blocking the tablet? The firmware probably defaults to T-Mobile's tablet APN and you'd need to set it to their iPhone APN.

Nexus 4: Straight Talk T-Mobile USA Thread

Sorry if there is an post like this but I didn't see one already.
I was a Verizon customer for years before smart phones and got my first smart phone through them (Droid X). I've had to keep buy used phones to keep my grandfathered in unlimited data plan (Thunderbolt and Samsung Galaxy Nexus). My monthly bill was about $80 with government discount, Unlimited data, 1500 text, 450 talk. Their customer service went south imo and my 4G speeds were only getting slower (was about 20 mbps now around 10 mbps). I grew tired of paying so much money and worrying about my mins and text.
I just recently bought a Nexus 4 and switched to Straight Talk (t-mobile). I did my homework a lot on where to go so I started porting my Google Voice over from Verizon yesterday and waiting for that to complete. I was going to got to Solavei or the $30 month t-mobile plan but I figured I'd try out Straight Talk.
So far I'm impressed with the service I get. T-mobile has really matured over the years and I see them becoming the new Verizon but I hope they don't follow their path of locking all their phones and trying to control everything they can. I literally don't notice a difference in my area (Chicago) as the places I don't get signal my Verizon phone gets and the places the Verizon phone doesn't get ST gets.
I'm going to stay with ST for as long as I can and keep an eye on the data cap limit rumors although I don't think I'll see any with my usage being under 3 gigs per month (at the very most), won't even risk tethering, and if the coverage stays this good.
I love seeing unlimited everything and only paying $45, I can't believe it as it seemed it was too good to be true but after trying it and seeing it myself I'm sold.
What made you guys pick Straight Talk?
What do you like about it?
What don't you like about it?
Would you rather switch providers for this phone and enable 4G?
Should I post the steps I took to help others out interested in doing this?
FYI I get no points or a cheaper bill for making this post or anything. I'm just excited and surprised that something usually like this is to good to be true.

Not sure how they are with tmobile sims, my girl has the at&t one and never got a complaint but she I'd no days hog.

I have a Google Nexus 4 with a T-Mobile micro sim with an account that allow me 3G. I would like to know how you were able to get a ST micro sim as they told me there were none yet. How did you get you T-mobile micro sim to work and does the sim restrict the speed or the network. I am a noob on the subject.

You can buy a sim cutter on ebay for less than $5 or look for a template on google and cut it with scissors on there. Either way it functions the same after being cut as it would a regular sim.

ubuntu touch / firefox os?

it's almost time for me to find a new phone. I have an OG galaxy note from at&t (i717) that i've been using for about a year and a half, I *love* the new note 3 hardware, but i'm concerned with bootloader issues. I'd very much like to try out ubuntu touch, firefox os, and i've been using cyanogenmod for years and I think i'd like to stick with that. I have a grandfathered unlimited lte plan with at&t and I can't seem to find any MVNOs that offer unlimited LTE (suggestions greatly appreciated!) what should I do?

Straight talks BYOP plan should have LTE? It uses the AT&T's network. They just added new sim cards with LTE support not too long ago I thought?

I don't know enough about it, but i've heard that strait talk throttles HARD (sub3g speeds) at like 3gb or so - if anybody has info on this, i'd be very appreciative!
