Dead Diamond :( no power after unplugging USB - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

so i am thinking this was a port surge or similar. I had plugged my diamond into my pc (dell laptop) and was only connected to activesync, not flashing nothing.
I uunplugged it to do a reset and go into rom flash mode to load a new rom and it went blank.
the sequence was:
Hold power button down
Got shutdownXP
Chose soft rest
held volume down button
removed usb cable
.....
.........
............
Nothing!
tried leaving battery out, checked power button functionality, pressed reset pin several times both with and without volume and/or power button held.
only thing i have yet to try is another battery which i will do tonight.
has anyone come accross this or have any ideas as to what it may be?
I figure best course of action is to buy new phone and/or source replacement mainboard.
and speaking of new mainboard, anyone know where to get one lol
Update:
Came home and put in original battery, phone started up...great. powered off cleanly, tried the battery it died with and now it's dead again. put original battery back in and it;s dead.
seems strange to me, is there some kind of overload timeout or something? i have three batteries and none work now. will leave it a bit longer again and try again later.

Yeah, if a different battery doesn't make any difference and you can't boot up or anything then you're due for a replacement. Look on ebay if you really wanna get a mainboard.

Diamond wont charge with dead battery

Nightmare.
Got my Diamond today, and charged it up.
It ran out 5 minutes ago, so I plugged it into the mains charger.
It vibrates, shows HTC and then gets stuck in a constant reboot. It's like it gets a little charge, uses it, then restarts the process.
I guess the battery is so dead that even the mains charger cant give it enough boost to start charging.
Help Please
If you only got it today then id be sending it back as it seems to be a faulty unit. Perhaps someone can give you a fix but if it was me, id be demanding a new working unit...you just never know what other faults the phone might have.
Good job I didn't Hard-SPL it straight away.
Damn, Always happens to me.
Are you trying to charge it with the wallcharger or by usb to a computer.
Beacuse if you are doing it by the computer there is an option on the phone that disables charging when conected to the computer.
Good luck dude.
Definately wall charger.
I think it's f(***d
I'll go back to my Kaiser and wait for the Raphael I think.
i would first try to charge the battery device turned off!
i noticed that the led in center button does not blink in the beginning but it should charge!
after a while try a hard reset!
Tried the following:
I cant switch off the device as soon as power is applied via USB it switches on. Tried holding the power button down but nothing.
Tried entering bootloader but same reset loop.
Tried hard reset, gets to grey screen with blue text but then reset loop again.
I tried leaving the battery out for half an hour and trying again but soon as usb is in it powers up and reset loop.
I put a multimeter on the battery and it is dishing out 3.7v as expected.
I think the device is knacked, even though I was using it for most of the day.

Usually a hard reset solves everything (hopefully)

Nope
leave it charging for at least 10 minutes before turning it on.

don't even touch the power button!
the device should not start if you touch nothing and just plug the powercable!?
i don not think that you press the powerbutton accidentally while plugging the cable, i hope i'm right?
Without touching the power button, I plug in the charger and the phone vibrates and starts.
From dead:
1. Plug in charger
2. I get 2 swirls of white on the round button thing
3. Phone vibrates
4. Smart mobility logo shows
5. Phone reboots
GOTO 1:
i miss the touch diamond screening with rom version etc.
normally it shows up before the htc smart mobility screen.
i don't think the battery is the badguy. seems more a fault in ipl or spl?
You're right.
I was wrong when I said smart mobility.
It comes up with TOUCHDiamond across the centre of the screen and right where the little red numbers USUALLY appear in the bottom right, it reboots before that.
To perform a hard reset
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until you see message on the screen
4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset
save this info on your computer
Sorted!
I left the battery out overnight, and when I came to work this morning, I plugged it into the charger and it didn't automatically start up so it got a good 3/4 hour charge which then enabled me to fire it up for a full charge.
congrats! i hope for you that this problem doesn't come back!
Sounds to me like it also could have been the power button was jammed pushed in. Maybe leaving it for a while without pushing the button did the trick, allowing it to release itself.
In case that was the problem, keep an eye on the power button in case it seems to be a bit dodgy. If it is going to do it again, then you want to swap it immediately for a replacement brand new unit. After a while, if you try to swap it out, they will give you a refurbished unit, not a brand new one!
Of course it could have just been a software bug, that was cleared by letting it fully power down (as others have said).
Just make your decision quick before you end up with a refurbished model for replacement.
Just to let you all know.
Over the weekend I fully charged my Diamond, and without even making a phone call or using WiFi, Bluetooth or anything the battery lasted 1.5 hours.
It's gone back to clove now for a replacement.
I've seen a few people having this issue so I advise getting it back for replacement asap.
My diamond got very hot during normal use (without charger). Is that normal? Not the battery but the actual device.

Helppp

Hello,
Leaving for school tomorrow and of course something has to happen to the phone...
Basically, i am running Sleuth 3.0 on my Tilt, been working wonderfully or around 3 weeks so far.
I resently reset my computer and my Active Sync for the Tilt was not installed. Upon Plugging the tilt into the laptop, it shut down after the computer scanned the hardware.
After shutting down, now, it will only boot up until around right when the main screen appears, and then immediately after states that the battery is at a critical level and needs to be either charged or replaced.
I plugged the phone in and charged it for around an hour, and when reseting it, "soft reset" nothing changed.
I then attempted again, and then attempted a hard reset with the soft keys and reset button.. nothing
I have noticed that the main screen touch function is not working either when it loads, only the keys work.. also, when i reset the phone while plugged in, "smart mobility" loads, and then freezes..
Attempted to plug into car charger as well and nothing worked.
anyone know what can be done?
Thanks,
Tiler
doean anyone know?!
It seems to me that your only problem is with the power of the phone. Do you have the original chargers? or a generic one that is good for many phones? I found that many mini-usb chargers only work if the phone has some power left. Once I was completely out of power, those chargers would no longer give my phone any power.
Ill try that out and see what it does. I have it plugged into the computer usb and hopefully after an hour or so of charging ill notice it working.

[Q] Brand new Nexus One can't be powered on

I have a brand new Nexus One bought on last year April. For some reason it wasn't to be used. Yesterday, I got it out of the package and charged it for ready to be powered on. Unfortunately, it reacted nothing as I pressed the power button! I took out the battery and put it into other Nexus One, it showed the battery was 100% charged.
I took back the battery and repacked it to this new Nexus One. I tried to press the power button more and more with data cable connected pc. Nothing happened. Just one time, the sceen lighted on and the "X" in four colors appeared! I didn't know why it was powered on. Maybe I pressed the trackball or volume up/down buttons, God know it.
The X sceen lasted almost for ten minutes and then sceen was off! Yes. It shutdown! I can't power it on anymore!
It seemed the hardware was OK. It may be the locked by the outdate android system. The android prestored in this phone is version 2.1.
Any advice is welcome. Thanks.
Can u you go in fastboot? Press power button+trackball..if so then you can recover your phone by unlocking bootloader and falshing custom recovery.
Sadly, It can't be power on and go in fastboot by pressing trackball+power button.
Any more advice?
Check the battery terminals just to make sure they're not dirty.. Sadly, you MUST be able to at least be able to boot something (hboot/fastboot) in order to troubleshoot anything software related. Sounds like you've got a hardware issue that could be one of (literally) a million things.
Sell it on EBay for parts. You can probably get $50-$60
you could try pressing pwr/vol-/trackball all at same time, hold down for around 30 seconds to make sure
commonly known as 3 finger salute
try power on without sdcard by manual methods and plugging in and plugging in with no battery
I have seen a video on YouTube on how to fix the power button which is known for messing up and how to turn it on. Search YouTube
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
is it that the power button is not working? that would be weird for a new phone though.
have you tried to turn it on using the "jump start" method?
connect the cable. led the charging led come on. remove the battery, wait for the led to go off (while cable is still connected) then pop the battery back in.
see if you can get it to start that way
When you plug charger cable in your Nexus, does the orange or green LED go on?
If one of them does and stays (green for full battery, orange otherwise) - then your problem is most likely the power button. It may not be the only problem, but at least the one that's stopping you from turning on your phone. You can try "jumpstarting" it by inserting battery while charger is connected.
If you don't see LEDs when plugged in - your phone is done.
If you see blinking LEDs - battery terminals might need cleaning/fixing, it usually happens when the battery is out of the phone.

[Q] Is my phone dead?

Hey guys, here's what's wrong.
I was running the latest version of MIUI and found it to be annoyingly buggy, so I installed Cyanogen from ClockworkMod and start installing it. It ended up hanging halfway through and wouldn't progress. I made what was probably a dumb decision and decided to turn it off since it seemed to have frozen.
Now...it won't turn on. If I connect a wall charger or USB cable, the symbol of an empty battery with the white loading circle comes up for about five seconds, but the circle is not rotating and the screen goes black. This repeats nonstop.
Holding down vol down + home + power to get it into Download mode fails, it just says LOW BATTERY CAN'T DOWNLOAD in red letters. Doing the same with the volume button up gets nothing. I've tried leaving it to charge for two days with no results.
I bought a USB jig and tried using it (removing battery and SIM card, putting battery back in, plugging jig in) but it does nothing. I've tried several times.
Any advice? Is it just dead?
try an external charger to charge your battery or borrow someones battery to test your phone. failing that, charge your battery in someone else's phone.
Was the battery full when you tried installing cyanogen mod, and did you follow the instructions fully?
Clean the battery contacts on both the battery and phone pins. Use another charger, and check the port for blockages/dirt (blow in it).
Try another battery..
-Leave the jig in for 30 mins.
-Hold the combo and then put the battery in whilst holding the combo.
-Plug into your computer (with battery) and try the combo. Then try without, and put battery in whilst connected and whilst holding.
-Hold combo then plug into computer
Some of the methods above may require some extreme skill or a helping hand
It could be water damage.
I don't think it is bricked as i don't think those messages would be showing up, but i could be wrong.
If none of that works and no-one else comes up with any other ideas then you may have to use the unbrickable mod. Search for it, it's a hardware hack..
Good luck

[Q] GT i9000's Power Key Flex has been broken, can't turn on

Hi all,
a few days ago I accidentaly dropped my Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 to the sink full of water. Immediatelly I get it out and removed its battery. Afterward I removed the inner rear cover, and waited till it dried out (couple of hours), but during the reassembly the power key flex hes been broken. My first thought was that it won't be turned on again, but surprisingly after I connected the charger to the phone, it turned on. I was happy, but some days later I turned the phone off (removed the battery) and I cannot repoduce the turning-on manouver.
Now, when I plug in the charger it indicates that it charges, but I cannot power on the phone. The question is if I order a power key flex replecment part, or it went wrong, and cannot be helped. I've tried to short-circuit the rest of the power stuff on the motherboard, but no reaction. But it still responses to the charger.
The other question is can I turn it on to check if it is good, only the flex is needed (maybe some kind of Schmitt trigger or something else is needet to the turnin-on process in the short-circuiting). I don't want to spend money for it, if it is a brick.
Aron
there's apps in the playstore that you can remap the buttons... hmmm now how to turn it on?
EDIT: I just copied this from another forum., not even sure if it'll work on our i9000 but worth a try... Volume down, Home button and plugging in a charger or usb into a computer as if charging. Then press the volume down to reboot.
