[request] multi-touch keyboard!!!! - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Everyone,
Is there any chance at all that we can either port a M.T. keyboard or enable M.T. on the existing Android keyboard? I really am getting bothered by the keyboard with out multi touch.. when you have big fingers/thumbs it is SOOOO hard to type with out annoying errors!
Thanks for your time!
Jm

just use the htc sense keyboard... its wonderful

use this and you'll be allset http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654179

HTC keyboard is not multi-touch.
Smart-keyboard or Betterkeyboard are both multi-touch.
At this point, those are your only options.

Smart keyboard is m.t capable.
Full version is paid but its worth it.

HTC touch keyboard

How do I disable the phone style keyboard, and only have the proper 123/qwerty one, in contacts the keyboard changes to the 3 press phone one, but on other apps is the proper wide one?
touch keyboard changes its layout depending on what app you are using i think.
Can't really answer your question though.. lol sorry :O
I'd still like to lock, or remove some screens.
This bothers me too. I've tried playing with all the various XT9 options.
It would also be nice to have the HTC Touch keyboard work in landscape mode with out having to slide out the keyboard
is there any way to ALWAYS use the touch keyboard? no sometimes the touchkeyboard and sometimes the touch T9 keyboard?
bothers me too... I want to use the keyboard that I can see when there is nothing to type... but the keys are big enough and seperate from each other...

I've gone back to this, even though it is a bit unstable.

Keyboard?

Anyone have any issues with the keyboard on the diamond? I see everyone say its alright but how good is it compared to other phones?
I've used the Diamond and the iPhone and I must say the Diamond's soft-keyboard is much better than the iPhone's. I'm only talking about the Full Qwerty keyboard though.
The Diamond's keyboard can interpret which key you meant to press if you accidentally hit multiple ones by judging the pressure you used. It also has multiple values on the same key, so you can hold "Q" for example and get "1", this removes the need to constantly switch keyboards to input numbers or punctuation.
Try to use touchpal keyboard, it's fine.
help!
oryt?..
jus upgraded my rom on my htc touch diamond
but the keyboards have been scrambled, there is no qwerty, no keyboard and no phone keypad inpuit methods, just a retro small keyboard difficult to use,
any ideas on how to get the old keyboards back?

The Diamond onscreen keyboard is very usable. I was used to the Hermes keyboard and I thought I would struggle with the onscreen keyboard. But I soon find myself liking the onscreen keyboard. One nice feature is the way it is layout and I rarely need to swtich between letters and numbers modes.

newbie keyboard question

hi i've just recently made the switch from the iphone to android, and i have to say i'm very pleased so far, especially with the DC ROM.
i just have a quick question about the keyboard... is there any way through options or mods to enable spellchecking in QWERTY mode while have text prediction disabled?
the text prediction seems to really lag the keyboard, but it would still be very nice to have spellcheck.

Calibrate the touch screen

Hi All,
I would like to know if there is a way to calibrate the touch of optimus black? I sometime feel that the touch is not very accurate. Please help.
Also, I have rooted my phone and wanted to know on how can i replace the default keyboard to another better keyboard.
Please help.
Thanks
Don't know about the touch screen but as for the keyboard:
Just download+install a new keyboard from the market. Long press in an input field, select input method and select the new keyboard or go to settings, Language & keyboard and select the new keyboard as input method.
EDIT: my preferred keybaord is Swift Key X
I would also recommend SwiftKey x, it gives you just awesome predictions.
which one is better, swift x or swype?
It depends on your personal preferences. For predictions nothing is better than SwiftKey x in my opinion. I didn't go very well with swipe, but there are many people out there who does. It's another typing experience, not to compare.

Compact QW-ER-TY keyboard

Guys, does the One's keyboard have compact QWERTY layout? It's the one with two letters per button. E.g. the first row would be QW-ER-TY-UI-OP
I ask you because there's no info about it in any review, but previous HTC phones used to have it. Thanks!
Try downloading Smart Keyboard app in play store it has compact layout. Also not much people use it since the common keyboard today is qwerty and single hand usage is t9.
Yes, I already knew about Smart Keyboard. So does this mean the stock HTC keyboard no more provides a compact QW-ER-TY layout?
