How do you use themes?

I am new, and have rooted my Hero and am wondering how i would go about installing the themes that i see located in the forum?

Themes are usually specific per custom ROM. Since you're just rooted, I'm guessing you haven't flashed a custom ROM yet? If you have, the theme should say specifically what ROM it's for.

I see the popular ones here seem to be fresh, pure hero and the one i want to install with the theme is ALosyius 2.1 so i am seeing that i need to wipe before i install the new ROM with the theme
How do i go about wiping?

Also the original ROM that installed was by regaw, but i don't see a specific name for the ROM

I would also like to see this. I have a nexus one rooted running stock, and I have never seen a reason to load CM. Last couple of morphs I loaded required a nandroid restore....taught me to reed carefully though
Also, off topic, but where can one find the stock themes? (so we can get back to stock without doing a nandroid restore)

i have an galaxy apollo, been wanting to metamorph it for a while but everything i find is for CM only.

check the thread where the theme was downloaded.
there are a million issues when applying themes to darkys ROMs. i have experienced this many times.
the problem is the ROM takes up to much space under /system / data ( i think ) and you have to remove certain things from that folder in order for the theme to successfully apply itself.
Some work 1st time, some dont work at all.

Is that so? What would be the best ROM for applying themes if that's the case? All I read and hear is Darky's ROM this Darky's ROM that so I went for that instead.
I think I found the problem - I didn't have CWM installed... We'll see how it goes.

All you hear is darky rom this darky rom that is not from this forum . Its just one of many .Read the posts in development section for a flavour of roms .

I've had to reinstall 2.3.3 using ODIN four times now... What do you two suggest I do when it comes to choosing roms? I'm sick of having to reinstall every time I get the bootloop cause the installation of a theme went wrong.

Stop flashing the theme, or try another rom.

I don't try the same theme every single time, there's only one theme I've been able to flash and it was ugly as shet.

Is your current ROM 'De-odexed' Meaning, is your ROM a custom ROM or a stock ROM

I've decided to reinstall Darky's ROM. I just read somewhere that it may be in the bootloop cause of the bootanimation.zip or something and that if I delete that it'll get out of the bootloop? I got out of the thread, I forget where it is

[Q] Just rooted my evo last night,want some themes

Im new to this whole rooting thing and im wondering what do i do now? How do i get the themes on my phone? Ive only used tethering so far so can someone tell me where to go and how do i go about getting the themes on my evo?

You need to flash a custom rom that supports theming - some themes are flashable zips while some roms support direct theming as part of the rom. CM7 has the Theme Chooser which uses apks that were made specifically for the Theme Chooser. MIUI has the Theme Manager which uses mtz files. I'm not sure if there are any Sense roms that include something similar. You cannot theme the stock rom as it is odexed. If you want to stay on stock then you can flash the rooted stock deodexed rom. There are a ton of great roms in the Evo Development forums, so head over there. If you have any further questions, post them in the Evo Q&A forum. Do your research first and only ask a question once you've read the stickies and any noob guides.
You need to start with a custom rom first, then you can figure out how to theme it.

Qns: ROM Toolbox Pro

Hi there, I have been googling and searching.. However it has come to zilch.. I need to know if Rom Toolbox Pro can be used custom roms.
For example, is it safe for me to change my fonts using the Rom Toolbox Pro.

rom tool box is designed for custom ROMs
Make sure you have a nandroid backup before applying any modifications incase your phone fails to boot

when i tried to change my font my note got switched off and was stuck at boot screen.
took me several attempts to bring it back on.
i was on stock ics so its better if u do a backup. If you encounter any further problems feel free to ask:good::fingers-crossed:
