how do i remove flipz custom pri so i can go between different roms and what not.
Flipz's custom PRI is actually just the latest PRI from Sprint, except when his ROM get's flashed, it renames it to flipz PRI or w/e it is. I'm not exactly sure, but there is a chance it may be able to be edited through build.prop. Flipz, can you offer advice on this? I'd like to (if possible) rename the custom PRI name you made back to an actual Sprint one.
well reason i asked is because the new roms are kool and what not, but im just going to wait until the offical 2.1 releases so they could be perfect, i just keep having problems like audio issues and etc. and my fiance is getting annoyed with me cause i keep having to restart my phone over and over ahahah, so im just going back to gumbo 1.5c, only prob is im using the 2.42.00 radio, and the custom flipz pri. Is this going to be a prob for me going back to gumbo, also can i reflash the stock radio same way i flashed the new radio. thankx in advance

Flash Fresh 1.1 or Damage 1.0. Get into dialer and press ##786# Then press menu and select reset. Next enter your MSL. Phone will then factory reset and the PRI will be back to 1.70 and you can let it boot and update your PRL if it still isn't 60663. Lastly, you nandroid back to whatever your daily driver is.

ahhhhhh, there we go, woot woot now i understand. doing this now, man you guys respond hella fast; gotta love this community.
As was already mentioned the PRI is just the newest one but tagged with flipz to show it worked. I am building a feature in to the kitchen that will let you easily switch between different PRI's and it will take care of that for you.
thankx flipz i cant wait to get my hands on that kitchen, i have a desire to cook my own roms soon, your donation coming soon, you deserve it dude. keep up the sick nasty work
Lose Flipz PRI
All I did was within DC2.06:
1. Nandroid Backup + Ext
2. Reboot
3. Dialed ##786# (takes a while to come up)
4. Menu
5. Reset
6. Enter MSL. Phone will reboot into Recovery and format cache and data.
7. Reboot. Checked PRI to be sure it went back to 1.70_003
8. Reboot into Recovery.
9. Restore Nandroid.
10. Reboot
I didn't reflash a 1.5 ROM at all.

i have done quite a few searches on this and yet have found nothing so i hope i dont get reamed for posting this.
if someone has a link for this answer id be very thankful.
if not then PLEASE SOMEONE EXPLAIN!!!!!!!
at the moment i am running drizzy hero rom. to do the update i did use the one touch root. on a second phone i did it manually. on both i added the hard spl and am running the RA v 1.2.1 recovery. I liked this ROM and wanted to see what bugs it had. after a few days i wanted to switch and try a different ROM I have dl most of the ROMs available and already have them on my sdcard once i did this no ROM would load except for Drizzy(new Vision v2.8). after trying a few things and accomplishing nothing i decided to redo EVERYTHING. unrooted my phone rooted again applied recovery made sure radio was to date and spl. and still nothing i cant even run the original jf1.5 that i was using before deciding to port. this issue is occuring on both phones. 1st phone was again done with one step root and the 2nd phone was done completly manually. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to try these other roms SO PLEASE SOMEONE HELP. if you need more information on what i did with these phones ill gladly tell you step by step on what i did.
sorry for that.
I was using my G1 and also had a friends. On my g1 i used the one step root. I used the Instructions from The Unlocker.com. It uses flashrec.apk and also Amon Ra's recovery image. After that i went over to the How to Load a Custom ROM. same site. It asks you to check the Radio and the Spl. The radio is 2.22.19.26I and the spl used was the HARDSPL 1.33.2005.
Once i finished that i went and formated the sdcard to Fat32+Ext2+LinuxSwap also converted Ext2 to Ext3.Then I did-Move Dalvik Cache to SD. last 3 steps to speed up hero. after all of that I loaded 4 ROMS CyanogenMod ROM, jACXHeroSkiv Hero ROM v1.8, Drizzy’s NewVision TouchFlo ROM, and JF v1.5 Cupcake ROM. I have only flashed Drizzy's until last night.
I was unable to flash any other one and when i flashed back to drizzy I had problems loading it back but eventually loaded fully the issue was running the startup wizard it kept crashing. after a reboot it was ok.
Give us step by step on what you did and USE PARAGRAPHS
that whole thing looked like mumbo jumbo to me
put new lines where they belong to help separate out the steps you took
FIXED! thanks!

did you do a data wipe? you need to wipe going from hero to cupcake/donut
When I first did all of that I did. Am I supposed to data wipe everytime I switch the Rom?

when your using hero rom's, yes.
if your upgrading cupcake roms (ie cyan 4.0.4 to 4.1.9.2 ), no
If its not working, WIPE
you cant go from hero to cupcake without wiping and not expect a lot of problems. they cause too many issues.
hero roms use the data partition differently
also remember to wipe /system/sd/ to clear all of that out. pull your /system/sd/ to your computer first though
thanks you guys it helped alot
I just rooted my g1 and i'm having problems trying to install cms rom.
some info;
DREA100 PVT 32B
HSPL10.95.3000
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
Oct 20 2008
I installed cm's recover 1.4 img and have access to the recovery screen no problem.
Tired installing AP1.6 but can't confirm it got installed.
I did this..
wipe
flashed signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721
wipe
flashed cm 4.2.7.1
goes to the T-mobile screen, then it loads up cm's boot screen then after where it should take me to the setup screen, it turns gray/black and stays there.
please give me some imput on what i'm doing wrong.
Thanks!
You wipe, then you flash the ota update. Reboot and it will go back into recovery by itself. from there you install cm, without wiping. Reboot and you are good.
Ok i've done just that.
wiped
flashed ota, it goes back to recovery image
i flash cm 4.2.7.1
reboot and it does the same thing.
t-mo logo loads up. then cm's android bootscreen loads up.
then it goes gray/black and stays there.
i know im doing something wrong but not sure what... should i install a older cm rom first? since i'm coming from a fresh rooted g1? i was coming from rc29

it shouldn't make a difference. how much time did you wait? It could take up to 15 minutes for the first initial boot.
i've waited about 10mins. but even if it goes to the gray/black screen i should wait for it longer?
gonna redo this again and wait for a longer time. 20mins max and see where it goes from there.
Upgrade to amon_ra recovery 1.5
Then do this
Wipe
install ADP 1.6
flash cm rom right after flashing ADP without reboot
now reboot and it will go back to recovery mode
now reboot once again and wait my friend
I'm still waiting for about 20mins to see if it reboots good.
If not then i'll be doing the new amon_ra recovery 1.5 way.
should i install a older cm rom if coming from bare root?
or it doesn't matter if i'm flashing 1.6?
you might want to consider upgrading your spl while you're at it. Just a thought. I don't think it's necessary for running Cyanogen, but it'd be nice to have in case you ever want to run a hero rom to upgrade to the danger spl
where can i get the spl? I dont wanna install the danger one since I wont be installing hero on it. I just wanna run cm roms.
no luck still. but have another dumb question for you folks.
the spl i have is this. .. HSPL10.95.3000
is this ok to run cm or should i upgrade it? i know that there is a spl that is used to run hero roms but i'm not gonna be doing that so I thought that maybe there might be another spl out there that is a upgrade from the one i have?
gonna go search the forums for this btw. I dont wanna be a pain about this.

I was wondering if it was your spl that could be preventing the rom to boot up. If you don't want to flash the danger spl, you can flash another one, like the HardSPL. I'm sure if you look in one of the sticky's or locked threads at the top of the forums in development you will probably be able to find a download link. It's worth a shot. Since you already have the latest radio, there is no reason to worry about upgrading the radio.
i was checking the forums and i have the hard spl.
or at least this says is the hard one. goes something like this..
hardspl =VER: HSPL10.95.3000
then
Engineering SPL=VER: HBOOT-0.95.3000
and last
G1 Original SPL=VER: HBOOT-0.95.0000
still no luck with installing cm's rom.. gonna look some more.
thanks for all the help guys! please if you think of something else let me know.
ok can't figure this crap out. gonna go bald lol
did a restore on my recovery and i'm back to this.
Model number: Android Dev Phone 1
Firmware version: 1.6
Baseband version: 62.50s.20.1H_2.22.19.26I
Kerner version: 2.6.29-00479-g3c7df37
[email protected] #19
Build number: dream_devphone-userdebug 1.6 DRC83 14721 test-keys
It does show the 1.6ADP
but what the hell lmao. I can't install cm though.
Not gonna touch the g1 right now till hopefully some of you can tell me how or what to do to upgrade my rom to hopefully cm4.2.7.1.
Again i'm really sorry for being soo needy.
oh crap. I think i lost root access again >_< crap
what's the best way to check to see if i still have root?
turned off phone and tried going into recovery but now it just shows the triangle ! and the phone pic. guess root is gone???
The newer Spl rearranges how mem is allocated so more is given to system partition on phone which allows larger roms to be installed(heros).Any SpL is fine for cyanogen/enom/dwang roms.

The triangle means root is no longer with you, young one.
ok, gonna root it again. i can get it to rc29 no problem but that's where the entire thing went wrong. will post later. wish me luck
ok rooted my g1 once again. gonna install the 1.4 recovery image now.
ok installed 1.4 recovery, now performing a backup for this point.
I think I have a old cm rom around somewhere.. .. its a 3.9.5cm should i update radio first then install this or visa versa?
+ok, installed 1.4 and flashed new radio. now gonna do what your saying and see where it goes. performing backups at each point >< lol
-ok i went to recovery and flashed the new radio and it's still formating cache... its been like 5mins already. should i reboot or wait longer?
i'm still needing to install the 1.6ADP and the rom still.
Don't reboot between the 2 zip files.
Boot to recovery
do a wipe
wipe it again for good measure
install from zip signed dev dream zip
install from zip Cyanogenmod 4.2.7.1
reboot
It will tell you it is writing radio then actually reboot
It will reboot to recovery mode
where it will tell you its writing cache...
wait till it offers reboot option again
Reboot
you shoul dget the G1 screen, than the cyanogen screen...
yes it might take a while on the second screen...I have never had it hang more than about 8 minutes.
Then you should be operational.
I do have a reoccuring issue with poor response after the initial boot to the desktop.
I usually just wait for it to stop all the background shuffling and then it smooths out.
YMMV
ok this is where i am so far...
have root
have hardspl
have recovery 1.4
have Radio Update 2.2.19.26I
now i'm gonna perform backup and do what you just said. hopefully since i did everything brand new there will be no issues.
Is it possible to install the new PRI 2.20_003 from the official sprint 2.1 release without having to run the RUU thus losing root.
Would there be any gain from having the 2.20_003 vs 1.68_003/1.70_003?
A few things I have noticed and was not sure if it was because the PRI is that my data connection goes to sleep and my weather does not update, my internet connection stops, my exchange mail says it failed to sync. I end up having to put in airplane mode and back to normal to get the data working again. I was not sure if this had to do with the Radio instructions.
I just experienced the same thing. I noticed that I no longer had weather information on my screen and when I went to update it, I was informed that I had no connection...in spite of the fact that I was showing 5 bars and 3G. I tried to internet and had the same thing. I just rebooted my phone and I'm back to normal. Doesn't look like Sprint pushed any more auto-updates, so its kind of weird.
I'm currently running Damages 2.1 ROM also. Other than this one time, it had been running flawlessly.
Afaik it doesn't allow for MNS over 3G still. I think we still need to flash an Eris based ROM to get that.
Possible to do a reset to update the PRI
I am a new user, but for some reason they're flagging link to Avalaunchmods' "How fix PRI" post in the development forum as an outside link.
I used it once to change back to 1.70_003 from the Flipz-01 custom PRI flipzmod's Fresh 2.0D ROM did. While it said it had to be from a 1.5 ROM, any chance that doing the same ##786# and Reset with the stock 2.1 update.zip running on your phone could make your phone update to PRI 2.20_003 and PRL 65000 or would that just be asking to brick your phone?
My first post, please go easy.
I would think that should work. Your MSL shouldn't have changed, and that was the only real requirement to use the fix. Personally, though, I think I would say wait until root has been gained so you can nandroid before you try it. If you are having major issues and have insurance, though, go for it. Worst that can happen is you end up with another phone after running a Sprint update kills yours.

I am rooted so I can put any rom on. I was just wondering if I can add the new PRI 2.20_003 some how without flashing the Official RUU and will it improve anything over the old ones.

As soon as I ran Damages 2.1 ROM, I did the ##786# reset and the only thing that was reset was the PRI changing back to 1.70_003 from the Flipz-01. It had no impact on the PRL at all (stayed at 60664).

The Avalaunchmods thread is for the 2.10_003 PRI that was in an Eris leak which is a Verizon PRI. Thats not what my question is about.
Right now I am on 1.68_003 PRI (1.5 original Sprint PRI) I want to know how to install the official Sprint PRI 2.20_003 without having to flash the official RUU and lose root.

I'm about same boat, actually. I'm on 1.70_003 PRI (I bought my hero after 1.56.651.2 released), though.
I just tossed the MSL-reset idea out as a possible way of getting new PRI, though I guess for now, it seems you really have to run the RUU.
No big, I'm running the stock 2.1 for right now to see the difference between it and Fresh 2.1.1

Same as dwertz, I'm still rooted as I never used the newest RUU. I've Nandroid-backup'd my Fresh 2.1.1 install, and about to do a backup of the Stock 2.1 Release (from damageless SprintUpdate2.zip) I just installed.
So I should be able to restore after the Reset fine with those backups if I do the MSL-Reset?
I change my to the new PRI and didn't really notice a difference. I didn't know how to manually do it, so I took Damage's ROM that switched every bodies PRI to the Eris PRI and substituted in the new PRI, resigned, flashed, and nandroided back.
I recently sold my hero to a guy. here's the problem, he's having issues activating it on his account. in my mind i'm thinking it's because it's running the 2.2 froyo CM6 extremely blue and there's no access to the ## codes. i'm not nearly as well versed with android as i am with blackberry and winmo. i hate starting new threads but i can't find anything on this except that a sprint based rom "should" have the ## codes in it. He doesn't want to flash it back to stock and lose root access. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is what he has to do:
1) Nandroid to create a backup of the system as-is.
2) Wipe and reinstall a rom based on Sense -- don't use Sprint's RUU or any updates from them. When I did this, I nandroided back to an old copy of Fresh 1.5. But any version of Sense should work. Just make sure it's not from Sprint. Check the Development forum in this CDMA section and pick one.
3) Once that is up and running, he can use the ## codes in the Sense dialer app to do whatever he needs to do to provision the phone.
4) Reboot phone into recovery mode and wipe. Don't worry, wiping does not clear out anything done with ## codes.
5) Restore from the Nandroid backup created earlier. Reboot and wait while the phone rebuilds the cache files. Could take 10 minutes to do this.
6) Phone should now be working.
see i haven't messed with nandroid backups, but he hasn't had a chance to really set anything up on the phone. could we just wipe the phone, flash something like damage control (2.1 sprint based sense), get the phone programmed, then flash back to the 2.2?
Yeah but it would probably just be easier to nand backup, lash a sprint based ROM, then nand restore when finished.
ok last question (i think). and recommendations on a sprint based rom that definitely has the ## codes in it? it's hard for me to get internet access at my job so i kinda have to dl to my sd card before i go in. i already have damagecontrol on the card if that would work?

DC should work fine.
awesome guys thanks. i'll post back after i make the attempt
i downloaded and have been running asops 2.2 rom but i just changed my phone number with sprint and I cant figure out how to update the msid. obviously sprint cant help me since im not using stock rom. anyone know where to look or an app i can download, because under settings: about phone: phone status: shows my old phone number, and i cant make calls or send msgs because of it.
they kept giving me ## codes but they wont work it just tries to dial the number.
Sorry woulda responded sooner, been busy. You need to flash a sense rom to use dialer codes our have sprint modify the phone or account info tied to it.
ugh... ok can you recommend a quick and simple rom so i can do that real quick
hate flashing it takes forever without a highspeed usb. anyways, downloading a sense rom now. thanks
arrg! ok i downloaded and flashed over to herocs 2.2 sense rom, tried doing the ## codes and nothing happens.
anyone??? im kinda screwed here.. cant use my phone until i get the prl updated
If all you need to do is update prl, and you have a sense rom flashed, you can do that from phone settings. I believe it is under "about phone".

Just use LiquidSense to update it.
what is liquidsense?
this is the rom i flashed to for temporary purposes
It is a 2.1 Sense ROM that can be found in the Development section.
well i guess no need to worry about this anymore, the charging dock on my phone is now broken or something because nothing will charge my phone.
Try a different battery. Or a different usb cable.
Root/Hack-Mod_Always*
ok i was in panic mode earlier being without my phone and all...
got liquidsense, updated all info. all good there. however when i flashed back to aosp rom its suddenly really glitchy, i cant get passed the "touch the android" set up screen!
attempting to reflash and see if that helps any...
nope....man this is a nightmare. btw gave thanks to everyone who replied in this post.
well... i flashed back to LS and even that one glitches out at the set up menu. so im still nowhere with my phone.
**UPDATE**
i found a backup copy of aosp rom that i originally downloaded in another folder on my sd. everything is working just fine now couldn't have done this without your help (all of you)

Glad you got it up and running.
First Just for your future reference so your not crappin all over yourself.lol (Been there) If you haven't already make a nadroid of the LS Rom or sense Rom that you used.
Second,I believe alot of the people around here that flash between sense and CM and AOSP do a factory rest or wipe from fastboot(look in this guide for instructions on this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063843 by forum memeber il Duce )the reason being is that (from what I've read) is that sense roms leave bits and pieces of files behind that can corrupt a flash,or make you phone wonky after it boots up.
P.S. If you ever have to RUU or unroot when you re-root makea nandroid of that after you root and keep it some where safe so you can go back to it.
Yes, wipe data, cache, and dalvik every time you change roms. Especially between sense and aosp. The only exception us when flashing an update to the rom you're currently running. Even then, it may require a cache and dalvik wipe. Wipes are not necessary when restoring a nand. Also, keeping a sense nand is a good idea, as out makes it quicker when prl updates are needed.
