Just wondering if this happens to anyone else. Running CM 5.0.5.3, and occasionally it'll just disappear. Sometimes I can turn it back on by going into settings, turning it off, turning it back on [the haptic feedback is checked "ON" when I lose it] and waiting a while in sleep mode. It won't turn back on immediately if I do this step - the waiting in sleep is necessary. Or I can reboot.
Anyone else getting this, and any idea why?
thx
Yes, I get this occasionally using the desire a19 rom. I just turn off the screen, and back on, and it comes back.

It's quite obscure... while the screen is switched off, it arbitrarily switches on, but within a split second, it switches off (causing a flashing effect). Anyone else experience this? Any solutions?
My girlfriend's xperia play does the same thing. while the screen is turned off, her phone will turn on as if you were to press the power button, then turn back off after about 5 seconds, and will keep doing that for hours. ive been trying to figure out whats causing it but i have no clue. did you ever figure it out?

simple,
1. diagnose what's ur phone problm...
- flash it to original ROM / stock ROM or any recommended ROM
- if problem still --> h/w problem
2. if u had xperience in disassembling phone, try to disassemble it, and see if something broken. 1st priority, check flex cable since it is usually broken. if nothing wrong --> service centre is least option
hello xda
ive been reading these forums for a while checking out tweaks, software and other stuff, good stuff
but last night, when I wanted to check out my email, i turned on the wifi but after a few seconds, the wifi slider would go back to "off", i did a reboot and the problem persisted. meanwhile i noticed the "phone" was off too, so i tried enabling that too, no luck, same thing.
and something else too, after like 3-5mins of using it, the touchscreen crashes and i cant use it anymore, only buttons will work.
today i decided to do a hard reset, but that didnt fix anything. when i go to "communications" panel, everything is "off" except Bluetooth.
-if i turn that off, airplane mode goes on
-if i click phone on, it goes off after like 5 seconds, same with wifi
has anyone else experienced something like this ?
thanks in advance,
xerron

Alright, I know some have had an issue with their Wi-Fi sleeping when the screen turns off. There is an easy fix to this issue...
From the home screen press menu the go to settings, from there go to wireless settings and press menu, go to advanced, you will see Wi-Fi sleep policy, change to Never.
Now you will stay connected to Wi-Fi when your screen turns off.

Great find m8. *thumbs up*
Vote for a Sticky.
I so wish that was the fix I was looking for. My Wifi goes in and out with the screen off, and sometimes even on, DESPITE being Never Sleep. Only since update to 2.2. 1.6 worked fine all the time.
Ok, this one is driving me a bit nuts trying to diagnose. My Touchpad has started to not turn on the screen occasionally. If I press power or home, the LED in the home button will light but the screen won't come on. If I wait and try again, perhaps in a minute or 10, it will sometimes turn back on. If it does turn back on, everything is still obviously running, and I am receiving notification sound or vibrations when appropriate. If I do a forced reset (Power/VolDown/Home) it'll reboot and the screen comes on. I'm not sure if this is a software issue or hardware, but I hadn't loaded a new ROM in quite some time (I'm running JCSullins 4.4.4). I had been running one from last year and as part of trying to diagnose this updated to his latest 1/13/15 version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712680 but unfortunately that didn't seem to fix it.
Is it possible the backlight is failing? If so, is there a guide on how to repair it? The unit still does most of what I use a tablet for albeit a bit slow (and battery life is starting to suck). For everything else I use my phone.

Try completely deleting everything and go to lollipop and try that out.
Hi everyone,
So my issue is one that I don't see anywhere else, hence this thread. I'm not entirely sure if it's a hardware or software issue, and I'd like your help/suggestions (pls)
If I boot the phone via "normal startup" or whatever it is from fastboot mode, it boots. However, after I get into the OS, if I press the power key to take the screen off, and I press it again to turn it back on, it doesn't turn back on. The phone still operates - it receives calls, I hear all sounds, I can even tap by memory to get to different settings, but the screen won't turn on at all until I boot into fastboot and reselect the normal startup option.
I tried enabling tap to wake via custom kernel, reassigning the volume keys to turn it on, but it simply doesn't work. I get the same issue if I double tap to sleep (the top bar) and then double tap to wake. I don't know what else to try - any suggestions?
I'm wholly ready to just call it a loss (I already have a new Moto G) but it would be cool if I could somehow revive this one. The reason I decided not to use the warranty is because I was pretty sure it had already been voided since my mother dropped it in water. As I said, this may be a hardware issue, but I'm not entirely sure and I'd like your opinions/suggestions?
For reference, it had this issue while on stock as well. It ran the latest update Motorola had sent out. It's the XT1063.
Thanks in advance!
