Hi, my info in fastboot is:
nexusone pvt ship s-on
HBOOT-0.33.0012
MI CROP-0b15
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0103
RADIO-4.03.00.21_2
Dec 17 2009, 13:05:23
I want to update to the latest radio and spl (if needed). How do I do this? What is the latest radio?
I don't want to brick my nexus.
Radios here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654869
Flash the .img (AFTER CHECKING THE MD5!) in fastboot
fastboot flash radio *radio img*
-or-
download in a .zip and flash in recovery
4.04 is the newest radio
No SPL flashing on the Nexus One.
^ That's all you need up there.
I'd like to update my radio so I downloaded the latest radio ( 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2 ) from the thread mortzz linked. However, when I try to verify the MD5 checksum I get the following:
310d85c4998163818f7dcdef730c2a12 : on the radio.img file.
4f680356054673368a69e3050304fe14 : on the downloaded zip file.
which differs from the MD5 in the thread
c55116d119e9e30cffc86875dce1a560.
I've downloaded the zip file 3 times and gotten the same check sums each time. Is this because I'm using a windows utility, md5sums.exe, instead of using Linux?

I'm also using the 4.03.00.21_2 radio on EPE54B build on 5.0.6 with Ravens 800mV AVS kernel and don't have too many issues with edge/3g flip-flopping. As I understand the risks of flashing radios (bricking), what are the main advantages to updating the radio to 4.0.4.00.32.2?
Sorry if answered somewhere else...been busy testing IR's kernels

If you're not having issues right now then i would not recommend upgrading your radio.
i never had any issues with my radio, but i wonder if i should update it also. What are the benefits?

In theory, it would help with the E -> 3G -> E -> 3G flip flop crap that occurs. I would NOT touch the radio unless you need to.

Yup... upgrading radio is not necessarily..
If you're not having issues, don't bother. You can freely go back and forth between them if you wish.

There are several files in there and I'm not really sure which one is the one I'm looking for. Obviously, I'm not going to take such a risk having a great community of people who know what they're talking about.
So, if I have ERE36B and want to downgrade to ERE27, is this the correct file I have to flash? The thing is I'm not sure because I'm reading all this "update version" stuff everywhere and I'm now pretty confused. I'd appreciate someone's 10 seconds to check it out for me. You'll understand I don't want to mess up with radio stuff if it can brick my phone. Thanks
ERE27 / 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2 radio - update zip format
The update includes the Radio ROM shipped with ERE27, again as an update zip. It carries version number 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2. NOTE: This has been superceded by a new radio shipped with ERE36B.

I try to flash radios as least possible, you could brick your phone, anyways I found the new radio to be better, but I guessed is a personal preference. But yes just flash the zip and wait, wait, wait.

I'm experiencing low performance in all radio-related aspects and want to try to downgrade to see what happens. If it doesn't help I'll upgrade again. I just want to make sure that's the correct file to flash.
Yes, that is the downgrade. I did the same thing... im still wondering if this radio works better or not...and im not ready to try the newest one out yet.
It's been sending for about 10 minutes so far :O
I'm a little worried. Thanks,
It could take awhile.... Which radio did you flash? are you still in the screen where the android is out of the box? Be patient bro, no matter what dont take out the battery, or you will brick your device.

Hey rjhay22, thanks for the fast reply.
I flashed back to 4.04 from 4.06 as I was having some serious signal problems and random reboots ever since I updated to Froyo.
It just started writing to radio then the following error
writing 'radio' ... FAILED (remote: image update error) finished.

Ugh can't be too good...
I can still get into recovery, and I just flashed back to the stock ROM without any problems so I don't think I bricked it. Any idea as to why the radio won't flash? Checked the md5 and it was alright. Possibly a prob with the USB cable/laptops end?
Yah, must be a bad download, I suggest downloading the file again and try. which ROM are you on and which radio are you trying to flash? is it the IMG file? or the update.zip file?
If youre trying to flash 4.0.2 (stock) / 4.0.3 / 4.0.4 versions heres a link for an update.zip version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614427
these radios are Eclair ROM radios, if you're using FroYo then you should use, 4.0.6. otherwise it'll give you camera FC.

Currently just reverted back to Cyanogen 5.0.6 and trying to get back to 4.0.4. Would the best route be to go into recovery and just flash the zip to do this? I was a little scared of doing it before considering my phone was crashing but I'm pretty sure it's stable in recovery.
(I was trying to flash via cmd with the img file in my tools folder before).
Yes, I find it to be easier and less scary to go through the update.zip file... And the link I gave you, I've been using those files to go back and forth on radio. Good luck brother.

so do you guy sreally think that the froyo radio is faulty somehow, particularly for the ATT version of the N1? i'm thinking of going to froyo, but not sure about the new radio (i'm happy with current radio). but then i hear about video problems without new radio.
is it that easy to bounce back and forth?
Hello again lol. Froyo radio works a lot better than the previous ones for me at least. There isn't anything wrong with it, now this might not be true on yours since you are from another carrier . But you can always switch back to the old one, whatever works best for you.

Ok cool, I just gotta figure how how to tell what radio I'm currently using. I'm sure its the previous one that we've been using.
which will be the exact steps to revert my att band N1 to eclair again?
Should i first flash 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2 radio and then cyanogen's mod? or firts cyanogen's mod and then the 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2 radio?
im willing to to this, because my gps is not accurate with froyos radio...
Works either way

rjhay22, do you think that the oficial release of froyo will have a better radio for all att band N1's? couse mine is kinda sucky right now... the gps is slow and inaccurate...
What yave you heard, will froyo have 850 and 900 separeted radios?
As of now, google has been quiet about what's going to be in the official release. We can only hope that if they include a different radio in that release, that it would work perfectly on both ATT and T-Mobile devices.

You can tell which radio you are using by going into the bootloader; a few lines from the top I believe.
Also in the main settings menu it shows baseband version and it looks like 4. 00. 04 or something like that. Isn't that the radio info?
How long should it take to flash Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_SF over stock 26.03.02.26_M??? It's been going a good while now and I'm getting freaked out!!
Judging by the radio model, you posted in the wrong forum.
Hi!
I use Android 2.2.1 FRG83D (Nexus One T-Mobile version). I found that a lot of users use a newer version of baseband which is 5.12 or 5.08. I still use 4.06.
Should I update my baseband version to 5.12? is it official? or still in the beta stage? Any change-log?
Thanks,
Would like to know too.
Is there any difference?
It's official. Just try it YMMV. If it doesn't perform any better switch back.
What does YMMV mean? And how can I know if it will perform better or not?
Your Mileage May Vary
Means it may or may not be better basically. Try and see.
If possible, flash via fastboot rather than recovery.
People who use 5.08 or 5.12 notice speed and battery life improvement, while few people experiencing problems with those two radios or notice degrade signal or speed.. I'm using 5.12 there's no problem for me, it saves battery
I tried to update my device radio version by using the recovery.. no luck!! should I rename the file to update.zip for example? :\

You need a custom recovery where you can disable signature verification.
Please make sure to verify the MD5 hashes BEFORE flashing. It's VERY important or else you could easily brick your phone.
Even better, if your bootloader is unlocked, flash it with that.
I already verified MD5. I couldn't find anything about disable signature verification!! I use RA-nexus-v1.5.3
You can't just slap radio.img on the SD card and flash it, you have to make an update.zip from it.
This is what I did. I downloaded zip file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=816917 and tried to flash it from the custom recovery.
Looking at that thread, it's an unsigned update, so you would need to ensure that the recovery you're using doesn't use signature verification.
The one you currently have is far too old, try Amon Ra v2.0 or a new ClockworkMOD instead.
Yep that file is flashable, just get a recovery (1.9 alpha or 2.0 from amon_Ra, although in 2.0, you have to MANUALLY disable signature verification in the "More" section) and you should be fine.
Thank you guys. I used ROM Manager to update the recovery and then I updated the radio version to 5.12
* Update: This version is really so nice!! The wifi didn't drop when I set the wifi sleep policy to Never!! I'm a happy user now
I'm having a TON of issues with the current radio. I flashed the updated radio during the whole 911 patch fiasco and ever since the phone will just randomly not be able to send/receive text messages or phone calls. I've read that some of the newer radios (6.xx) and the older radios are compatible.
Current Specs:
Rom: CM 6.1.0 with patched kernel
Radio: 3.22.26.17
Model: HTC Dream 32B
You should update to the ezterry's newest radio and spl.
They also come with an extra 14MB RAM!

seems cool, but I was hoping for something simpler... Ah well if it gives me back the use of my phone...
It will, trust me if you need a guide, on how to flash it, go to the g1 development forum, its either on the first or second page

Absolutely under no circumstances *EVER* flash via recovery a 2.22.* radio when you have a 3.22.* radio it *WILL* brick your phone
on a similar note:
Absolutely under no circumstances *EVER* flash via recovery a 3.22.* radio when you have a 2.22.* radio it *WILL* brick your phone
And on that note another few reasons why we recommend using fastboot
If you have a 1.22.* radio and install Danger SPL or 1.33.0013/0013d SPLs via recovery you will also brick your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139 is safe for ALL dream users, always use that fastboot method for installing 1.33.0013d or ask ldrifta to pay for your replacement phone.. anyway those other instructions are for downgrading a t-mobile dream.. while 60% of the time it may work.. downgrading to out of region firmwares causes headaches when an NBH fails to apply the first time.. since you can't simply re-flash and move on.
(anyway the rooting guide for the e911 dreams already expects the users to install fastboot/adb so it ought to be easy to fastboot the radio+SPL.. the only real problem with my thread is some people feel overwhelmed with the full operation guide of the new phone the Radio/SPL transforms the phone into)
Hi. I'm looking for good kernel for my G1 with Laszlo Froyo. Radio and hbor are in sig.
The kernel it comes with is perfectly fine....
And I can't see your sig on tapatalk, but you need 1.33.0013d and the 2708+ kernel radio

RADIO: 2.22.27.08
HBOOT: 1.33.0013d

that sounds like it could be a hardware problem. has this ever happened to you on any other roms? also have you tried the quick fix options such as clear data, reflash rom etc.?
Now i have JF 1.5 radio still 2.22.27.08 and HBOOT is 1.33.2005 and about 3hours and still works well, but still its ****ty 1.5 with ****ty 1.5 apps on market.

And did you flash any kernels on top of froyobylaszlo?
You're not supposed to. It has the kernel in the rom zip.

Hboot: 1.33.0013d
search for "2708+ kernel"
flash the spl and radio and recovery from fastboot
then you need to flash the rom.zip and thats it!
Gapps and kernel are in the rom.zip
