help after flashing rc29

so i had a rooted g1 running cupcake but i tried to install the super hero v2 rom and i got stuck at bootloop so i flashed back to rc29 and i dont know what to do from here. do i start back from square one or is there an easier way to get back to root access and what are the newest and best roms to use?

You still have root. There is no reason you lost it. As long as you meet all the specs all you gotta do is load up another rom and wipe and update.

Bestest (not a word) cupcake ROM, IMHO is cyanogen's 3.6.6. Bestest Hero ROM would either be cyrowski's or DrizzyJAc's

Possible to dowgrade from 2.1 to 1.6?

I'm on Cyanogen 4.2.13 right now, but I really wanna try out the 2.1 roms. I was wondering if it's possible to downgrade from 2.1 back to 1.6, in case I don't like the 2.1 roms. Would a nandroid backup work?

Yes Or You can Just Flash a New 1.6 Rom n i good fast n Stable 2.1 Room Try the KiNgxKxlicK Rom =D

please help i did have xrom 2.1 and now i want to go back to cyanogen's rom but everytime i flash rom get stuck at g1 screen, i wiped installed both the radio and spl and then the rom but still no joy please helps thanks

Flash the htc recovery image then cyan, that will get you situated. An easier thing to do next time is make a nandroid before flashing though

[Q] HTC Hero downgrade

I previously had the hero rooted to Android 2.2 and now have a new phone. Now here comes the funny part...my mother wants my hero since I don't use it anymore. So I was wondering how I could put back the sprint's official 2.1 release because the phone being rooted won't let the "sprint guys" change phone numbers for my mom lol. Thanks in advance!

try to find a stock rom or i'm not sure if fresh lets you do it.....

i guess try this one.....

you could flash liquid sense or any sense rom (other than froyo sense) to activate, if you want to get rid of root all together go here and get the RUU for the 2.1 update and flash that from the bootloader

Go to sprints website HERE to download the RUU
Run it, go through the steps and it will return your phone completely back to 2.1 stock

[Q] rom help

Was running cognition, had problems and went back to an original backup from ROM MANAGER. So now back to stock eclair 2.1 kernal is atin's. I want to try to safely start over and reflash a newer rom to get me tethering back and get rid of some unwanted crap ware. Can I get some help with how to safely ( step by step idiot proof instruction ) and a lil advice as to which rom may be best for me as a newbie not very expierienced user.

any of the rom's are good. You'll have to test them out for yourself to see which works best for you. Check out each of the devs rom threads for instructions and the download links.

[Q] gingervolt 2.0 problems with sim

im running version 2.3.6 or v8 i did the root and upgrade from v7 reinstalled cwm and everything went great now im trying to install gingervolt 2.0 this is my first custom rom flash and i hope im missing something small but everything installs it asks for my language then it gives me a error for the sim card not installed i did wipe all data before installing. any help would be greatly appreciated so i don't have to miss out on all the fun. i know the sim is good if i reflash back to the stock rooted rom it works fine.

On V8 you need to flash broken out 1.1, not gingervolt. Gingervolt was for v7.
