Purchased market app problem... - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I purchased weatherbug elite while I was on CyanogenMod 5.07test2.
Before I flashed CM's rom I did a BART Backup of Super-D 1.11.
I flashed the rom on a FULLY wiped card, ext, dalvik and all.
CM has too many bugs for me right now so I did a BART restore.
The restore worked perfectly, however, upon reinstalling Weatherbug Elite from the Market it FC's at startup. i've even tried reinstalling Super-D from a fresh base flash and it(Weatherbug) still FC's.
Do programs that are purchased know which update I am using? (cupcake, donut, eclair...)
And do you think that it saves this info for future installs, so when I restored Super-D it still gave the version for eclair?

Fix your permissions, this is a common problem with Super-D.

That worked borodin1, thank you.
I guess I forget about fix permissions sometimes.

Download Unsuccessful

Hello, I seem to be having trouble downloading purchased apps from the market.
I am running Cyan 4.1.999 currently, but the issue started whilst running the Blur Beta (thought flashing a new image might solve the problem. No luck). I searched the forums and another member with the same problem as me solved this issue by reformatting his card. I tried and still, when i try downloading numerous apps from the market, it says the download was unsuccessful. Any ideas?
Thanks guys. I love this supportive community. <3 XDA
are you wiping before restoring your backup? I was running blur beta on a different sd card, when i went back to my cyanogen 4.1.999 nandroid restore i wiped beforehand. Never had issues flashing roms as long as you wipe before you flash or restore a nandroid

Market Disappeared [FIXED]

Oye this isn't good, after some flashing and backups, my Market Application actually disappeared on my phone and it says it is not installed. I am not sure how to get it back as I already used 2 of my previous Backups. Hope someone has a clue.

did you flash the htc recovery image before you flashed cyanogen?
Yes I did, I had Market, I did a specific market dalvik-cache wipe from Cyanogen's troubleshoot page on his wiki. I guess my phone didn't register that until I did a backup (w. ext) and now it disappeared.
I had this same exact issue with my gmail apk it was gone ! I update cyan rom but when I updg I notice gmail apk went missing I asked help all said wipe and flash again I had no success tried pretty much everything I even used dreaimg got it back and update back to cyan rom latest at the time. And still had no hope so I switch roms went to dwangs then from there superD and all was back to normal
I fixed it with a wipe, flash the defanged base, then newest cyan ROM. Problem solved =]

MMS problem

I have had this problem for a while now, since i tried handcent SMS...
Since I installed handcent sms and played with it, I decided it was ok and deleted the mms.apk from /system/app/ And everything was good, and then my mms and sms didnt seem to send, so i pushed the apk back into system/app/ and rebooted and still had the problem, I reflashed superd 1.9.3 and now only handcent sms shows the texts as being sent/recieved, and the default app still shows the little red envelope, even after I know that the message was sent succesfully, how do I fix this?
help?
Thanks
Wipe, wipe ext, wipe dalvik, that should do it. What happened is that you still have traces of the original mms.apk somewhere in your system and it's interfering with your updated one.
Good luck.
It still does it after a full wipe (ext4, everything) :\ is it the rom?
It shouldn't be the rom because many people use it and have no problems. The only thing I can suggest is flash defanged base 1.6 followed by Super D again, it may sort things out.
If it doesn't - we will need a log.
Ok ill try that
Defanged base is only for Cyanogenmod.. SuperD will overwrite everything from the base so there's no point flashing it. Just wipe and flash SuperD again.

User already did that (first post). Base 1.6 is the most "legit" rom out there, in theory it should fix anything. I always flash it in case of problems just to rule out hardware faults.
I tried superd 193 with the wg kernel and it seemed to fix it, thanks guys!

[Q] "Application is not installed on your phone" Error

Hi all,
I've done a search on this (both XDA-wide, and Google) and no-one seems to have a valid answer for me yet.
I am running Gingerbread (PDA = XWJVB, Phone = XXJVK, CSC = XAJVK) via a Doc's beta RomKitchen build. I am aware that I am running a beta and things can get a bit hairy, but this problem is really annoying.
Basically after the rom flash, I went and got Titanium Backup working again, and started restoring my favourite apps and widgets. All worked fine, then I had to do a reboot for some reason. All the restored apps are still in the apps folder , but greyed out and with an SD-card image overlaid to tell me they are on the SDCard. They ALL no longer work but give the "application is not installed on your phone" error, which is annoying, because before the reboot, they all worked.
I have tried twice to restore them from Titanium backup, and each time they only work until the next reboot breaks them, meaning the only apps I get to keep are the system apps and the ones I cooked into the Rom.
Anyone have any ideas?
Anyone at all?
Hi, I had a similar problem, with one difference: it started after a while. I had Doc's JVK installed, I restored my apps with Titanium Backup and it worked flawlessly for a while. At some point I noticed that the apps installed recently would disappear after a reboot. The worst thing is that even the market disappeared at some point.
To solve the problem, I flashed several times a WIPE version of Doc's rom along with several wipes from recovery. It didn't work right away and it took me several reflashes.
No problems since then.
Cheers
Thanks for that.
After much reading, I reckoned it was probably the Fugu kernel doing most of the damage, so I flashed a Chainfire XWJVB kernel, then a recooked Doc rom without the Fugu kernel. Lubberly Jubberly now

[Q] moving from froyomod to cm7, everything is deleted?

will i lose all settings, files, apps?
is there a way to keep everything and change rom?
I would say it is good practice to do full wipe when switching to different ROM generation.
Once you are on CM7 upgrading to never version is OK with just caches cleanup.
In your case I would use TitaniumBackup or any similar app to backup all the apps. In theory you could try to restore the app data but may not work properly. Use as much as possible backup/recovery build in the apps.
BTW consider app2ext - I do not known if such a feature is available in FM - search the forum how to create separated partition on your SD card
well i gave it a try.
updated OR, did all 3 wipes, installed the latest CM7 and rebooted.
i just got the M sign no matter what i did.
had to nandroid back to my latest backup.
never had that in any froyo mod.
is it hopeless?
should i try again?
When you wipe, go into the partitions menu and format boot and system too.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
how exactly?
didn't find it in the OR menus.
Don't do that!
There's no data of /boot in CM7 packages!
Switching from Stock 2.2.1 to CM7 worked flawlessly for me back then.
Try downloading the CM7 .zip again, apply it and do all 3 wipes afterwards.
tried again, like you said.
didnt work. back to froyo.
bummer.
ok, tried the HO NO mod of this rom and its working!
looking great. thanks for your help.
this HO NO is a version of the original CM7. meaning if there are future updates to the original CM7 i will be able to update, correct?
i wont have to necessarily wait for a "HO NO" version?
It's not that easy.
HO!NO! is a CM7 mod - that's right.
But if you mix updates from both HO!NO! and CM7 you will very likely end up with the M-screen or bootloops again.
Usually it's like this:
Update the ROM you're on: flash zip, wipe caches
Change to a different ROM: flash zip, wipe everything
