It is not needed. It doesn't help anything. Go ahead and uninstall it

Do a search about task killers and Android. They usually do more harm than good. Instead use Auto Killer or Auto Memory Manager. Set it to optimum and enjoy.

Yeah forgot about that too. Some other apps do this as well such as TD's app. I was assuming it was just either poor programming or the app stays running to launch it faster next time and or save your space. This I don't believe is the case for Contacts though.
Hi its a new task manager bug if you can rollback to ver 1.5 problem will disappear.
Anyone else have any solutions since I don't know how to rollback the version?

[Q] Apps restarting after killing

It seems on my wife's Captivate that tasks keep running even after killing them and not restarting them.
For example, she used a task killer to kill her apps running and seconds later her messenger is running again without using it.
Is there anyway to kill these apps that I'm missing?
My Captivate doesn't do this but it might be because I have a custom ROM. Advice would be appreciated.

Please refer to the "android memory management" thread in my signature. It details how android manages its memory, and why killing tasks doesn't help.

Great read. So I'm going to assume since they are listed their for quick access they aren't actually pooling any data that will acrue charges from the carrier?

Exactly! They are just loaded to memory. Install 'system monitor' and u can see that they have 0 CPU usage.
But I do uninstall the bloatware apps the first thing.

what should I use instead a task manger

App be running in the background n I thought task manger was the best.
Samsung captivate
glitch kernel
cyanogenmod 7 #89
OC and UV
Have you looked in settings/Applications/ and looked at running services ? that will show others apps running you may want to close.
Advanced Task Killer is where it's at. (I'd give you a market link, but I'm lazy)

[Q] Any way to stop apps from reopening automatically?

Hey guys. I use AutoKiller Pro and Autostarts (which from what I've read and my experience are the best at this) to control and close running apps. They're quite effective, but there are some (Facebook, WhatsApp, among others) that keep reopening even after I "kill" them and terminate their processes.
Is there any way to stop this? Another, more effective app perhaps? I would appreciate some suggestions.
Look forward to your replies!

DON'T use autokiller or any app like that. You are just ruining your phone. Why? Because that's the way android works. The apps android thinks user needs more it keeps them in memory so they can be accesed faster. Whatsapp and Facebook have services running in background, because they need to be running to receive alerts (both are for comunication). Duh!
Thanks for your reply. But what if I'm offline? I don't want those apps wasting resources and draining the battery (which btw isn't the best)...
There are two ways
-Freeze
-Or uninstall them
