Turn off notification light while charging - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I remember seeing a thread about this a while back ago, but can't seem to find it.
When I charge my phone at night in the dock, and if I receive a text/email, the trackball keeps glowing the whole night. It can be difficult to sleep at times with it glowing.
I remember seeing a hack for this? I am running Cynogen 5.0.6.
Thanks.

LEDs Hack on the market.

That did it! Thank you!

I cant turn on my phone. Help please.

I have this installed [ROM] CyanogenMod-6.1.0-RC1 for Hero CDMA
I was running wifi tethering and installing a game called chess.
I heard my phone vibrate quickly and the screen was black. I tried to turn it back on. But nothing. So I removed the battery and waited a couple minutes. I cant get it to come on.
So I plugged it into a charger and the red/orange LED is on as if it is charging.
The phone will not even attempt to start up
Any ideas?

Phone just seems dead to me... probably just needs to charge for an hour or so
If it's not charge up and running by now, you'll need a new battery.
Thanksgiving day I had my phone on but was doing things around the house and when I went to check my phone it wouldn't wake. Holding down the power button, nothing, it was dead. I know the battery wasn't drained. So I plugged it into my USB and the light didn't turn on either. I sat staring at the phone for a few seconds to troubleshoot and it suddenly began to boot up and after everything loaded I could confirm it was half charged.
I'm running the same version of Cyanogen as you. Are you using the original battery or 3rd party? Mine is 3rd party.
Have you had other strange occurrences leading up to this? Twice in a week I woke up to find my phone on even though I know I shut it down the night before and not accidentally rebooted.
Since I was able to get my phone to boot back from temporary dead the phone has frozen twice while texting. I didn't battery pull or anything, it just rebooted by itself after a few minutes. I plan on switching back to my old battery to see what happens.

charging light after OTA

has motorola fixed that little LED after this update?
I don't see how they could release this phone without noticing that... so stupid.
Moto's official explanation is that it isn't a charging light but a "sign of life". It only comes on(blinks) when battery is too dead for the phone to turn on charging mode. This is to let you know its still alive. Would be nice if it was a charging light though.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Charging at Night
To be honest, I'm really glad that they decided for it to be a "sign of life" light. With my previous phone (Milestone/OG DROID), the light would bother the hell outta me when I'd go to bed at night and charge it on my nightstand.
Thanks Moto for this one !
Light Flow
Light Flow has an option for this and a lot more. you can make the LED one color for charging and another for when its full.

That app is for the front LED. Not the side tiny little light next to the microUSB port.

There's a light on the side?! I just had to look now to see it. I had never seen it before. I'm running the leaked OTA, when does it even light up?
Read about 4 posts up
With the OTA applied, the light now works if the phone is OFF.
Once the phone is switched on, the light goes out.
And the phone is plugged into a charging source, of course.
Wow I never knew this existed. Interesting...I guess. I don't think I've ever seen it light up.
I tried it too and it lights up a second then the phone is turning on, the led then turns off. Glad its working.

I saw that it existed, but had never seen it light up. Until I plugged in my phone with no battery in. Then it lit up. I was running .890 and that was the first time I ever saw it.

Overnight Charging Screen Flashing Issue

The last two nights I've had my phone (the only two nights) whenever I wake up I find my screen repeatedly turning on and off with a black screen color, along with the the notification light flashing at the same time that's white. Interestingly enough, the first morning I woke up to it was a completely stock installation. The second morning it was running Cyanogenmod. Both times, taking the battery out would cause it to restart and boot up normally. The last person that had this phone never had an issue with it, so I really don't know what the problem could be. Other than that, the phone runs perfectly, and I see no other problems. Maybe there is some way to see what is causing it?
I'm running aLogCat tonight to see if I can get lucky and catch what's going on here. I'll keep you updated.
I believe there are apps that allow you to do that... but unless you forgot you installed it...
5:05 A.M. Phone screen appears to be off and fully charged.
5:14 A.M. I look at my phone and it's doing the flashing thing. Alogcat didn't save anywhere near it.
By the way, it seems to be at the same time every day.
There are apps like Alarm Clock Plus, which supports such wake method. Don't you have any app that triggers the flashing? Even on the ext partition?
Maybe im not explaining it right. It is completely locked up when it starts flashing. It is a completely blank screen, it's completely unresponsive to any buttons and the only way to stop the flashing is removing the battery. It flashes on and off every second. I don't know of any apps that would cause it. I'll check though.
Is the phone connected to a charger at night?
If yes - try without or with another powersource.

I'm trying it with another charger tonight. I didn't have the problem last night because I used the phone around 4 and left the screen on. The charger I've been using though is the one that came with the phone.

Camera flash diode always on

My camera flash diode is always on, even when the phone is powered off. I first noticed it when I went to charge my phone over night next to my bed. I lay the phone on its face so the LED notification doesn't show. I noticed a slight glow from the flash diode. I thought at first it only happened when I was charging my phone. Today, while at work, I powered down my phone and again noticed the light. For me, its always on. I just got off the phone with T-Mobile and they are going to over night me a replacement. My friend's S6 does not have this issue, so not all of them are having this. I encourage everyone to go into a dark room and check your flash diode.

I don't notice this on mone, but here's a complete guess. Do you have the quick reply feature enabled? I'm referring to the one that lets you hold your finger over the heart rate monitor for a couple seconds to reject a call and reply with a text. Maybe that required the diode to be on in order to detect your finger?
Then again, it would only need to be on while your phone is ringing... Anyway, just a thought. Hope you get it resolved!
Edit: I'm dumb. Nevermind. I read it again and realized it even happens while the phone is off. It's late, I'm gonna sleep now...

Do you mean the red light from the fingerprint sensor (sits right next to the flash)
I noticed this as well. Its definitely the flash and it is very dim. To see it I had to be in a pitch black room and let my eyes adjust. Its probably some small leakage current through whatever off "switch" that controls the flash. I doubt its a battery drain because of the low intensity of the light. It would be easy to test by turning the phone off for a day (i think the light is still dimly lit even with phone off) and observing the battery drop over a day. Who has time for that though.
Great Work .
This could also be responsible for additional battery drain in Sleep Mode , right ?
I am researching Battery Problems before possible purchase so ...Thanks and publicize this.
I may quote you on Reddit if OK.
I have this issue too and supposedly it's going to be fixed when we get 5.1 but I don't find this a huge issue as I'm sure it doesn't affect the battery to any significance. This phone has had so many issues which sucks cuz Samsung did something right for once but little things have been a huge nuisance.

Wireless Charging Light Flashes

Going to bed each night, I place my phone in the Samsung Duo wireless charger and, 3 or so hours later, it's flashing the screen randomly @ full brightness, the red charging light on the Duo is blinking rapidly and some sort of text is popping up on the screen but doesn't stay long enough for my sleep weary eyes to be able to read.
Honestly, it's flickering like lightning!
Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on & how to stop it? My dog is petrified of storms and, every night, he's thinking there's a lightning storm headed in and shaking jn terror. Somethings gotta give and the wife is attached to the dog, so I figure have to solve the weirdness with the screen flashing...
Any help is appreciated!

I finally figured it out. Don't know exactly where I found the setting or the forum I found the fix in, but it was a setting that had to be turned off for full battery notification. Once I turned it off, the issue stopped
Thanks for the reply!

It was insane! Woke both my wife & I on multiple occasions. And drove my dog to insane levels of anxiety. He was sure it was lightning and acted accordingly.
Glad I got it fixed. Really a useless function
