Hello, quick question.
Does anyone know of an application that I can install onto my laptop so I can view my phone, send texts etc?
I believe I had one on my Windows Mobile Device but haven't come across one for my Hero.
Thanks in advance.

:? (XDAIIi) I'm an avid SMS'er (antisocial I know!), however anyone know how I can compose and send straight from my laptop? 'live' or 'off-line' prior to sync?
p.s. for the guy who pointed me at this site - a big thank you! The only time I wandered into my providers retail outlet and got some really informed advice re this handset!
POCKET CONTROLLER Professional
I'd recommend you try pocket contoler Professional. i'm using it all the time. you can actually do anything with your PDA while its cradled. evrything is so much more comfortable since you have your very own pda screen(live feed) on ur desktop. very very handy when searchin contacts, quick messaging, reading, just evrything i need2do w my PDA while im at my desk.
finally i got rid of the whole stylus wrapped in a knuckle lock in my right hand and tryin 2still type w both hands and miraculously switch fluently and breezfuly b/w both devices
check it out mate!
if you need a link or smth 2the file or whatever then just gimme a prv msg & i'll lead u through.
I use Jeyo Mobile Companion 'cause I don't like outlook. See it here : http://www.jeyo.com/companion.asp

Hello everyone I'm new here, well long time reader first post! I've recently come back from the dark side (Symbian based mobile).
Anyway on my old Sony Ericsson I had a great programme which enabled me to explore my mobile sync it with outlook etc, obviously the diamond being a smart phone it does this and some more! However I'm missing the ability to have my mobile plugged into my computer and my computer notifying me of texts etc with the ability for me to reply and send them using my computer rather than having to look at my phone! Lazy I know but still!
I've tried looking on here and on google however Diamond, Texting, windows are very broad terms so the results didn't really give anything significant! Anyone know of such a programme?
(sorry if this is in the wrong section or i've just been a noob and missed out the huge topic dedicated to this issue in another section).
Search for something called "MyMobiler". That will do that for you I believe.
Perfect!

Thanks for this just what i was looking for.
I want to quickly thank the members of this forum for all the software devlopment and "how to"s they provide. Me and my AT&T Tilt thank you.
I've been looking for a thin client. If you are familiar with other programs like Microsoft Terminal Services Connection (MSTSC), VNC, or Citrix then you know what I'm taking about.
I've searched with several keywords nad it's the first thing I havn't been able to find here on xda-developers.
Stop reading here if you don't care why I'm asking for this.
I work for a small business and part of my responsibility is IT help desk. Recently I've started working on my degree and am out of the office every afternoon.
If I get a help desk call and am at home I started using VNC on my home PC to check out their desktop. This usually cuts my calls from half an hour to five minutes. Seeing as I'm not paid for time this is a good thing.
Soon I'll be spending much more time on campus. Actually, the main reason I bought this phone was so that I could support my office immediately while remaining mobile.
So, does anyone know of a good thin client I could use? Thanks in advace.

Is it integrated into WM6.1 (and I've missed it) or is it a download I need to get?
I'm definitely willing to give it a shot.
Sorry for my noobishness. I've only had my phone for about two weeks now.

A bit of research shows that it should be part of WM 6 but I do not have it for some reason. I don't know what the local forum rules are so I'll err on the side of safety and just say searching google for "Window Mobile Remote Desktop Client" will quickly lead you to a solution for re-installing the application if you do not have it.
Thank you for the help.
Alright this app doesn't exist but I'm encouraging it to be supported and developed.
So today I was browsing on my new notebook and my phone went off, it was only a notification text message but I was feeling polite and so I got my phone and looked and saw what it was.
I've seen apps that can view the pc from the g1, but I want to view my g1 from my p.c. Not just a notification bar or some small poorly done UI. But a full on good looking desktop view of my g1 to where I can dismiss, reply, and explore my g1.
Way of doing this: USB, Wifi, Bluetooth etc.
Get it?
:]
Hope so.
So if this could be developed I'd appreciate it and I know a lot of other people would too.
Sorry this response isn't *particularly* helpful, but I will add that this is definitely possible on Windows mobile, albeit via a paid-for app. It definitely worked over USB and may have worked over wifi/bluetooth too, can't remember. However, even over bluetooth, the display updating was slightly laggy. Sorry but I can't remember the name of the WM app.
Best of luck.

I don't think that it would be so hard to develop such a program for pc because you can already pull up a screenshot using ddms.bat of your g1. We can also already control (limited... but capable) the g1 with adb. So if a user interface could be created to access your g1 live from your computer, I think that would be ideal. It would be sort of like using the emulator, but it would be your phone and in real time. Good idea indeed. Too bad that I don't know anything about programming.
I need some help or advice on where to start with converting/ transferring SMSs from pre-smartphone Samsung to Windows, ideally with sender & date information.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Not required anymore, found a way to do it.

how did you do it?? I've been searching for weeks trying to figure out how, but nothing has worked:/
As XDA is for Android and Window Phone smartphones, moved to Off-topic.
