G1 failes to boot - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running a custom firmware on my G1 (don't know which one at this moment, I'll post it when I know) but it failes to start my phone.
This is what I did:
Ik took my sim-card out of the phone and placed it in another phone. After half an hour I placed the sim back into the G1. I placed the battery but forgot to turn the phone on. After about 30 minutes I started the phone, everything seems to work fine. The android logo appears and "moved" and when it dissapeared I only got a black screen but further nothing. The backlight seems te be on and the four buttons on the bottom are "on".
I tried with no sim-card, on the charger, another sim-card, without a micro-sd card. But everytime the same problem appears. It goes well until the android logo should dissapear and the phone should start to display the OS.
Can anyone please help me, there are some important information on it what I need to save (sms and a list made with a yellow-paper/notes kind of program)

Wipe everything
and flash a new ROM

Do I have a Dead HTC Diamond?

Hey,
I had gotten to sample the HTC Touch Diamond...and thats all. I got it as a gift from overseas (so its a GSM -simcard- phone). Long story short, I didn't want to buy the phone from the local wireless provider because I'd be stuck with them. I open up the HTC box, turn on the phone, calibrate, take a few pics, and then I decided to put in a simcard. The phone was on at the time and I wanted to make a few phone calls to test out the new phone. I have no idea what happend, but the phone just turned off. I turn it on, and there is no lights, no screen, however the phone did turn on (i felt the vibration, and heard the startup sound). I took out the battery, and put it back in a couple of times and I finally got to turn on the screen and lights, however i recieved a werid message, and it didnt seem that my buttons at the front were working right (they worked fine before when i took pics and listend to the demo music), so I unplugged the battery and put it back in..Since then I have not been able to turn on my screen.
Here is how I know the phone is on, but there are no lights and no screen:
1. the boot up vibration
2. the bootup music
3. the volume up and down
4. I am able to touch the screen to turn up and down the volume.
5. When I put in a simcard, the phone does a ring every min or so (I have no idea as to the cause as i cant see error messages)
Now this is what I did to try to fix it:
1. I tried soft reset , however pressing the reset button does not seem to make the phone restart as i can turn up and turn down the volume no matter how long i press the reset button
2. I tried a hard reset, that doesnt seem to work either. (btw im guessing the confirmation message screen and pressing the volume up key) I think that the reason why steps 1 and 2 are not working, is because the phone does not seem to want to restart!
3. I tried taking out the battery and putting it back in..but i never did it for longer than a minute
4. I tried to update the rom, however the rom update application gives me a "Connection error" even though i have my phone plugged in. If i am supposed to set the connnection up from the inside then nm i cant do it cuz i cant see a thing.
5. I tried charging the phone (through USB and the power outlet)
Does anyone have any idea what happend? how can HTC Touch Diamond go from new to blank screen in about 5 minutes of usage?
plz give me all suggestions u can come up with...plz try to help me. Ive been waitign 2 years for a good phone, and now that I have one, I cant use it. Help me!
remove the sim card and see if it acts normal.
is it already unlocked?
the sim card has been removed, reinserted , and removed again.. yes the phone is already unlocked as the simcard apparently worked ( i made a phone call and the phone rang)
has no one ever come across my problem?
bumping...

Is my Diamond dead???

Hi there,
I've a question regarding a strange problem I have atm. I flashed a new ROM two days ago and it worked well and without problems. I did two hard resets because I tested various programs and settings but the ROM worked.
Now my Diamond hang (you can see the time it hung with 19:52 because it froze there) and I did a soft reset. I did not do anything when it froze, I just noticed it as I wanted to call someone half an hour ago. The soft reset did not work though, the boot hang at the boot logo.
I though I'd simply do a hard reset but that did not work either getting me all kind of errors during the customization. It never happened with the very same ROM flashed before though. Not sure why it does happen now.
I cannot flash a new rom because I can't boot though so I can use AS. I can't flash from internal since I cannot copy stuff on there without a properly bootet device.
Has anyone seen such a thing before? It happened out of the blue and I did not change anything or flashed a different ROM or something similar.
get to the boot loader----> hold volume up, enter (round button on keypad) and press reset button (keep holding volume up and enter). you should now see the tri colored screen, plug in your usb cable and now you should see usb at bottom of tri colored screen. with your rom of choice run custom ruu, when you hit update it will return with nothing for your installed rom but will show what you are going to update to. hit go and it should start flashing.
That did indeed help. Thank you very much. My Diamond is back amongst the living now. Not sure what happened there though ...

Strange Problem: Possibly Half Bricked

I have been running CM6 on my G1 for a while with no major issues. However, this morning when I woke up, the phone was not turning on. The screen comes up with the bootloader white screen and keeps turning off. I had installed Advanced Task Killer the previous night and I suspected that it must have done something to the system. So I decided to reinstall everything from scratch, starting from DREAIMG.nbh.
My G1 looked to me as the T-Mobile UK version, so i used the RC7 DREAIMG.nbh. It flashed okay and booted fine. And when the Google account setup screen showed up, I tried to type my account details but very strangely I could only type the letters e d f x only. All others keys don't show up or do anything. I booted many times but the keyboard doesn't work at all, except those four keys.
I then wanted to flash RC29 thinking that I flashed the wrong version earlier. But now when I press Camera + Power, nothing happens. So I cant go to the bootloader screen. It just boots normally to the setup screen. I can however get the recovery screen when I press Home + Power but then because the keyboard's Alt or W is not working, I cant do a wipe either.
I also checked if it is talking to ADB, but ADB does not see the G1 either in recovery screen or after it has booted up normally.
I have been reading all day all over this forum, as well as others but did not find any similar problem or a way forward. Can anyone suggest how to get it back to normal. I don't think its totally bricked because it boots up normally and it can also go into recovery mode.

[Q] I need your help with my Nexus One

My Nexus One working very well, but on one day, the battery empty, it shutting down. I going to my home, try to charging it, turn it on.
The screen turned on, display boot logo like 'X' digit. Next, it show the digital 'X' logo with four colors and never stop (case 1), no transfer to anything else or boot on user interface at all.
I have try to restore firmware, reset facity.
It working, I got my phone again, can call, do everything ( remember the phone now empty data, just like new one ). But after some minutes, it automatic restart and showing the digital 'X' logo with four colors again (like case 1).
Again, I take out battery, wait and plug it in, turned on, still show the case 1. Next, I try to restore my firmware again, it working. But after some minutes, the case 1 repeat.
I don't really know how to fix it.
If you're using a stock ROM - looks like a HW problem. Send the phone to HTC.

No boot / freezez

Hello,
Today my phone suddenly froze. It happened before so i didn't care much about it and left phone for some time. Unfortunately, I'm not able to boot system anymore, because phone turns off right after first white HTC logo screen. When I boot into recovery only up and down buttons work, pressing on/off button causes phone freeze.
Phone is rooted (ROM - insertcoin-7.1.3), since few months and till today it was all working fine. Conecting it to laptop it was recognized as RELINK device (but it doesnt work anylonger) so I think it might be over. Any idea what to or what steps perform to bring it back to live?
