I saw several users reporting the same today. I don't want to take a guess but I think google is up to something...

Do a factory reset, and sign back in with your google account. Then reflash your 2.1 nandroid.
(I'm assuming you restored with a nandroid)

I used the PASSIMG.zip method which will restore everything even the stock recovery image. Factory reset alone will not suffice.
Even brand new N1 user can't get the update today: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=468801cbdf8eb9fe&hl=en
I will stay on 2.1 and wait further. I think something's coming
Thanks for the reply though.

Hmm..oh well then.

Rogers HTC Dream Build help

I am trying to restore my phone to the original state.
I managed to get root but I stupidly put in a theme that messed up my phone.
Every time I go into the recovery utility the Build says:
CyanogenMod v1.2 + JF
How do I get rid of this and put the real Build back?
I have been searching for hours.
please help!
VGM out...
Now it wont even get past the Rogers boot screen! HELP!!!!
That would be the build for your recovery; it's irrelevant unless you want your phone back to exactly how it was when you first got it.
You'll need to restore a nandroid backup. It shouldn't be hard to find out how to do it but try here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538134.

Thats exactly what I want to do, to get it back to the way I first got it.
I want to get rid of that Build. I managed to restore it and fixed the boot problem, but that Build is still there.
I want to get it back to the way it was cause everytime I try to root, it doesnt work. the market enabler doesnt work.

reloading the boot.img and system.img from that link should set it back to stock Rogers.

You seem to misunderstand me. I assume you want it to run like how it did when you first got it. And that's exactly what you have done from following the thread I linked you, I assume.
The CyanogenMod v1.2 + JF is ONLY for the recovery. It doesn't have anything to do with your boot problem.

This statement is not quite correct.
To get it EXACTLY like it was before. You would also need to do something about that recovery.img (which is called CyanogenMod v1.2 + JF). Unless you're returning the phone to Rogers or you have OCD, that should not matter and doing what the thread says will be fine.
thank you for your help. got everything to work properly!

Market

I need some help!
when i download an application off of the market most of the time it will just sit there saying starting download, and never start downloading.
At first i thought it was the ROM i was running so i flashed a new one on and then the next day it started to do it again.
I have tried and 5 Roms now and i have had the same problem so i don't know what it is and i was hopping one of you might know
THx for your help!
Do you have the issue over the mobile network? Or wifi? Or both?
i have it over both
try flashing back to a stock rom/RUU and see if it happens. if it does not then flash a custom rom back and see if it still does it
could u send me the stock RUU
i cant really look for it

[Q] Having issues trying to OTA update?

so i used odin to revert completely back to stock jf6 firmware, everytime i try and update it goes thru the process of updating and stops during reboot at 50 percent and says download failed, can anyone help me troubleshoot this issue. im all ears, thanks in advance...
this seems to be happening to all of us who had been rooted at one point or another
yea this will be my fourth try. this time im going to do a factory reset and sign into the market and see what happens. i wonder if this has something to do with the jf6 zip that all of us are flashing back to....
interesting. ive been seeing a fail message as well but 3-button recovery is working now.

Can you use File Explorer or USB debug to see if there's an update.zip in /sdcard on your device?
same here. i've tried everything.
Also I should mention that you can cheat the 24 hour system by changing the clock manually to a day later... lol

Guys.. chill out - the Samsung official announcement said
"An update to improve the Samsung Captivate's GPS performance is now available. Captivate customers will receive a notification on their device that an update is available and will simply need to download the file to update their phone. The updates will be pushed to customers' devices over the next few weeks."
You do not need to check for the update yourself.
not the point. the point is, it is possible to get it now, and it's not working for us rooters :/

Well said... I'm not even worried about the jh7 update, we've had that for a while now, I'm more worried about my phone being ABLE to receive updates than anything else.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
well... i backed up my contacts with kies... i'm going to completely clear everything and go back to stock...
after that i'll re-root. but i'll be sure to use the adb shell to backup the stock kernel...
Its working now for me, I also got the updated failed message and have rebooted my phones several times through the day and just verified on google maps twice that it zoomed in accurately
My phone is rooted and have every setting in ryans lag fix set...oh yeah I got the beast unleashed installed.

go back to stock 2.1 update the app from there, then backup the .apk (astro file explorer has a tool that allows you to do this) then install it in the other builds
which file is it in? I can't find it

Yeah, it's something like that in system/app
sprint_core.apk in /system/app there may be an odex. i always rm NameOfApp.*
if you delete the apk it may cause problems(maybe. didnt for me but has for others). you also wont be notified of vm's. youll have to call to check. on a 2.1 rom, that is. thats how it worked for me anyway.
personally, my vm isnt working on my new device. like it never set itself up correctly. if anyone should happen to have a link to some instructions to set this up, that would be fantastic. I hate calling the silly people at sprint. thank you

it didnt work. i removed the original, flashed yours. still have the undelivered message, the activation message. nothing is working, i cant figure it out. and when i called sprint, they reset my vm, so i lost messages and had to set up everything again...
FYI to Impaler, your VVM version in your sig works for those in areas where an official update has not rolled through yet.
Don't know if you are aware, but Sprint recently updated the VVM software to version T.5.1.0.48 (here in TX it was updated the last week of October). Note that Sprint CSR will not be able to help you reset it unless you are on a Sense ROM. Period.
Two options to fix on your non-Sense ROM... there is an updated .apk floating around on these boards (might need to PM someone for it). Get it and install via your file manager.
Or...
Other way is to nandroid your current ROM, then flash a Sense ROM like Fresh's most current. Then, update your PRL and Profile, then go into the VVM and press Menu and update Sprint VVM.
Then, either try to nandroid back to your original ROM and check to see if that does it (haven't tried that, but it might work)... or else... yes, you will need to pull the updated com.coremobility.app.vnotes from the Sense ROM and install the pulled .apk into your new ROM.
Hope this helps.
mr. implaler, I have used yours for the last weeks successfully, so thank you. I just ran into the same problem with the mandatory upgrade, and it is an update i did before I rooted my phone. the VM did work this morning on MUIU but i loaded MYN and that is when my issue started.
Hope someone can firgure it out
thanks again implaler

I had 9016 in the blocked texts list. Hope this helps you.
Excellent...let me add to this...
I suppose using variations of ROMS that don't include VVM and block 9016 caused this issue.
You can unblock 9016 by going to your account online, under "My Devices," then "My Preferences." Scroll down to the "Limits and permissions" section. You will see the "Block Texts" link there.

Ok cool, well glad it worked for a few people

May have screwed up..

Okay here is the situation...
I had brokenout 1.2 on my phone but I wanted to get back to stock Zv8.
I went into clockwork and installed the zv7 to zv8 zip and thought everything would be okay....but I can't get any signal or data. It boots up with Zv8 installed but I can't really do anything
Any help would be nice, thank you!
Get the TOT file and flash the whole phone to v8 then do a factory reset (if you want to go back to out of box) then re-root it.
I'm not really sure how to do that. I can't re-boot into recovery mode. I want to keep all my apps and everything, I'm just not a fan of the BrokenOut Rom.
I'm sorry to be difficult, but I'm not the most tech savy person

18 steps, 30 min of your time, don't do the factory reset like I said, root after and your apps should stay. I flash the v8 TOT all the time and don't lose my apps. Phone boots up stock with my apps installed.
Okay, I did everything and got my phone back to Zv7 except there are a few problems...
I can't make calls
Messaging doesnt work
Lots of apps crash.
Any advice?

Factory reset. Only thing you can do pretty much.
You sure your phone isn't in test mode?
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA
I bet, some how, you got the radio and software all mixed up. This problem usually arises when you flash a room for a newer software version (broken out over v7). Flash the v8.tot and that SHOULD set you straight.
