Questions about Flashing - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

Hello, I am new to flashing ROM's on my device. I have seen the tutorial on how to do it, but I still have a question which I hope can be answered, as well as put somewhere so others that might have the same questions can find it without making a new thread like I am doing right now.
Does this void the warranty on the phone, and would restoring the original stock ROM on the device restore the warranty?
Again, sorry for making a thread for this, but I could not find the answer for this anywhere.
Thanks.

Yes it will void your warranty but as long as you flash back to a stock ROM and relocking your phone before sending it in for repairs you should be ok....

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377 .
it is the complete guide..
Thanks!
So when i finish the HSPL bit everything is done? Also is there any preperation I need to do? I have installed MS .NET framework but unsure if I need anything else!
I use USPL via USPL GUI myself to flash my phone, a totally painless process and one that doesn't invalidate your warranty.
Just make sure you sort out the activesync usb settings and away you go.

as soon as u have flashe any rom other than the stock ur warranty is void.
but to cheat the htc guys u can revert to the stock rom.
in the similar manner u can also revert to the stock spl.
I think Hspl is the better option because u need not run uspl each time and just need to flash the rom as if it were a stock..
and the original asker of the question..
Yes it's all done after getting the HSPL thingy.
the only thing now left is to find urself a suitable rom from the forum and flash it..
cheers.

Thanks again! I think I am going to do it but I am still really worried as I dont want to damage my phone! At which point in the process am I most likely to cause an error, and what point is the point of no return. If I was to somehow brick the phone, could it be fixed?

It was mentioned earleir to sort out your USB drivers. Here is the Dummies Guide to this.
If things go wrong they are most likely to be due to the wrong SPL version and you then get a blue/green screen when you load the ROM, but you can still recover by loading the correct SPL. I was also very nervous my first time, but thinking back to the difference between the stock ROM and the wonderful ROMs I have used over the past few months, they have made using the phone a pleasure.
Just read Digital Outcasts thread on Flashing and take it slowly and follow step for step and all will be okay. If you read and things do go wrong there are many clever and helpful people on this forum to help you recover
Thanks again. I will ensure I do that first then. Is there anything else I need to do as I really do not want to brick my new expensive phone! Im only 16 so buying a new one wont be easy lol.

That should be about it in terms of prep - do you have .net 3.5 installed on the pc also?.
Once you get the phone try to keep the stock ROM on for a few days - you will appreciate the great work the guys like Dutty do a lot more. Also before you flash take ote of the stock ROM version and SPL version so that you can revert to these in the event of needing a warranty claim or service.
Then, just take it nice and SLOW, READ carefully and follow EACH STEP to the letter.
No need to continue with this thread. Any further posts should be in Dummies guide to flashing

[ROOT] Noob Guide/Help!

Hey everyone. This forum as well as Q&A has been pretty swamped with people asking questions regarding rooting and unlocking the bootloader, so I thought I'd post some links and create a thread that can help to answer a lot of questions for everyone. If this is in the wrong forum feel free to move it!
Please read through all of these posts BEFORE doing anything so as to make sure you understand the process.
To root and understand the process: Link 1
To return to stock and relock: Link 2
One click toolkit. Use this to actually root/unlock/relock. MAKE SURE YOU READ EVERYTHING FIRST: Link 3.
Here's a step-by-step video explaining everything for you.
It might void your warranty temporarily - but you can return the thing to stock as long as you don't unplug anything in the middle of unlocking the bootloader or destroy the hardware, so it won't be an issue "re-warrantying" it.
Just make sure you know how to do everything manually in case something goes wrong. And don't be afraid to read a bunch before you do anything. Knowledge is key!

[Q] Help Please!!!

I have an att moto x --- in past I tried to root not sure if worked-- then i reset back to factory settings.... also deleted lots of stock apps during this time ---- now I cannot uninstall any apps that I installed from play store the phone turns off and on.... and when I go settings- security- says unfortunately settings is not working--- also phone can't system update --- it starts but then green robot with red exclamation point shows and says error--- 15 seconds after that it says congratulations you have successfully updated???--- any help will be appreciated thank you in advance
Sounds like you may have deleted the wrong app or apps and that explains your issues. Also, if you removed any system files, or have a custom recovery, the Ota will fail.
Need much more specific details to help here. What you've done to the phone exactly, what Android version you are on, bootloader locked or not.... Etc.
However, sounds like you may need to return to stock to fix things up and get the update. See this thread here and the return to stock section.

But don't downgrade... You could brick.

Use the guide I linked above and read the return to stock section. Has to be 4.4.2 or higher you flash tho. You can't downgrade.
Also, might I suggest you familiarize yourself with the lingo and procedures. And read read read..... Then read a bit more before you do anything to your device. Especially return to stock procedures. Do those wrong and it could be very bad. The moto X is easy to brick, or at least cause you major headaches if you do or flash the wrong thing on it. I say all this because knowing what a bootloader is and whether yours is locked or unlocked is one of the first things most people know on any device.
Not scolding you at all.... Just don't want to see you with a fancy paperweight.
Read ALL the stickies in general and Q&A is a good first step for sure. ?
Good luck! ?

how to Downgrade to OOS 3.5.3 From 4.0.3

I want to downgrade from 4.0.3 to 3.5.3, i have tried downloading the whole Rom and flashing it from local storage but it doesnt work the flash stops midway, also unable to do the ADB thing, can someone please guide me. I dont want to root and install TWRP.
Why you want to downgrade?
@saarxee
what are you thinking while posting your answer? the op wants to downgrade.. so give him an advice or be quite please
b2t:
use the unbrick tool by haris (found in the guides section on xda) to downgrade to 3.5.2 or something similar.. you can upgrade afterwards to your desired Firmware
I want to downgrade because I am having an intermittent problem of the phone heating up while in the pocket, I have tried the factory reset but it doesn't help . @macdachpappe Thanks a lot for the advice ,this won't void the warranty right?

Yikes, dont pop off on someone for the post. text can carry any cadence in the world. He could have an issue with something and this person would like more info to assist him better. You don't pop off on tech support when your computer doesnt start and they ask "What have you done with it?"

even rooting doenst void the warranty if you follow the guide which i mentioned before, you are flashing the stock firmware - nothing more.
@OcazPrime
im sick of these guys here and in some other sites which are just asking "why do you want to do that" instead of giving them the help they need. his post doenst help at all because the op wants to downgrade - no matter what (at least he didnt ask for something else)
Not a bug issue dude... Follow up n it's the same for op3 n 3t.. n use stock mm recovery of 3t

Help a BIG noob with Root.

So, I want to root my Xperia Z3 Compact. 6.0.1 D5803 .291.
I found few text tutorials here on this site, yet these don't help me at all, most of the words used in these threads i don't understand at all.
For example; "Backup your DRMs" And I'm Like "Backup what?,Backup how?"
If it comes to android I'm complete noob, and I don't know anything about this OS.
So I'm here hoping someone will waste their time trying to help me understand anything.
Edit: If this post has wrong flair, is in wrong sub or something is wrong with it, please point it out. Thats my first time using this site.

So first of all you asked the question in the right sub so don't worry about that.
Regarding the DRM keys, here is a brief explanation.
So the guides you saw probably say that you should unlock your bootloader, and when you unlock your bootloader you lose the said DRM keys.
When you lose the DRM keys your camera becomes a bit bad with it being very bad in low light situations and as well some of the Sony features won't work.
There is a zip you can flash to return the camera quality BUT it only works on stock ROMs.
So I would only recommend unlocking the bootloader if you are going to install something like Carbon ROM or LineageOS.
Now if you want to avoid unlocking the bootloader and just using the stock ROM there is a way to root it on a locked bootloader, you can find the method in the General subforum.
But do remember you can only install stock based ROMs on a locked bootloader, else the phone will be bricked.
I hope you understand now.
To start stay with locked bootloader and follow this tut. Do not unlock bootloader at this time...
This is about to Root and get TWRP (custom Recovery) and stay with locked bootloader...
Get familar with "Flashtool" - Everything needed is linked in below mentiond thread.

If you have root go on and back up TA partition.

... and most important: read, read, read and... understand... And do not do things without thinking...
