class 10 SDHC - Hero CDMA Accessories

Just wondering if anyone knows if the HTC hero will support this speed?
Here is a link to 8GB card:

I think it should as long as it compatible with SDHC 2.0.

I'm not sure it will go up to Class 10...I don't think so.

Anyone else can comment on this and confirm either way?

It said here on HTC website:
http://www.htc.com/us/support/hero-sprint/help/storage-card
and
Here is the spec for SDHC 2.0
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital
I am thinking of ordering one too

Thanks. Looks like that answers the question that HERO, which supports 2.0 SDHC, should work for card speeds up to class 10 and of size up to 32GB.
If you get your card please report if it works for which one.

I looked over the wiki and it states
On 21 May 2009, Panasonic announced new class 10 SDHC cards, claiming that this new class is "part of SD Card Specification Ver.3.0".[11] Toshiba also announced cards based on the new 3.0 spec[12]

Does anyone know if this works with TYTNII (pratically, not theoretically)?
Has anyone used this or the 12GB one?
Thanks

The problem is how to fit it in your Kaiser ?
Cause this is not a micro SDHC card
While I don't know about the SD version on the Kaiser, I can tell you it reads 8GB SDHC cards. So if your 1.0, 1.1 versions only recognize under 4GB then the Kaiser is obviously using a later version.
Not sure on what you are going to pay for that size card... you can get an 8GB for under $50 which might be a smarter move until the others come down in price.
dang thats the price of my tilt
btw our phone support up to 32gb

LOL good point, i didn't even follow the link to see that. I thought that SDHC was only micro cards...but then again I don't own any other devices that use these so i never researched them.
So, to the OP the size should work...but make sure you get a micro!
the card u posted in ur link will NOT work becase it doesnt suppot SDHC...u just simply cant put it inside ur phone...
It does Fit into the phone, what you see in the link is the exterior part of it. The smaller card is in the inside (fits underneath the one shown).

Actually, the links provided are SD cards, not Micro SD. The picture is not a Micro SD to SD converter, it's just an SD card. Micro SD to SD converters do not show the size of the card on them
So in conclusion, no, the product(s) in the links you provided will not fit in the kaiser, and therefore will not work. However here in the UK, we can expect to see 16GB Micro SDHC on the 31st May. See here

Sorry My bad then..
Anyway now that thats sorrted out, my question still stands
Memory limit
One of HTC tech support guys basically told me that if the microSDHC card says SDHC that the Kaiser (or the Tilt he was referring to seeing as I was talking to him about my phone) will support it...and I believe he mentioned up to at least 128gb memory capacity or something. One other poster in this thread mentioned 32gb...
Now for reality, at the time of my purchase of the Tilt Nov 2008, Sandisk was the first to make 8gb microSDHC (okay others announced it too), and the time from their announcement of 8gb being put on their website at $139.99 in Nov 2007 or so.....to the availability on amazon in roughly January or Feb 2008 at 139.99....to the current amazon price of roughly in the $50 range by March/April 2008.....to the realization that very few other memory manufacturers have released 8gb microSDHC cards.......makes one think that by the time any amazing company makes anything substantially bigger than 8gb, AND releases it to market at a price I'm willing to pay for.......By that time...I and probably many of us, will have bought a newer phone with proper drivers...that the limit of memory size of microSDHC for the kaiser will be a memory.
In others words, 8gb microSDHC is the largest you will find today (most likely), and the phone will handle much more than that in its product lifetime. Buy with confidence that your kaiser in April 2008 can handle any microSDHC product available in April 2008.
Hope this helped.
thanks nicely put
come on dude you put up a link for an sdhc memory card you need a MICRO SDHC MEMORY CARD. Also I thought all th Tytn II could use the high capicity cards...are you sure you don't have a TYtn-one.

This is true, by this thread is 6 months old also . Have a look at the date!
I'm buying the 8 GB MicroSDHC tomorrow. My 2 GB is already completely full!!
The SanDisk 16GB microSDHC works just fine in the Tytn II -- I've been using one for about a week now. I don't notice any speed difference between it and my old class 4 8GB card.

That sounds awesome!!! I haven't seen the 16gb ones yet. How much do they go for?
I live near a Microcenter
so the 8G Microcenter version went on sale for 34 Bucks..thats right! Now the SANDISK 8G is a little bit more expensive but they are the same class SDs. I have the Microcenter version running right now in my Tilt with only 2Gs left...I'll probably try and get the SANDISK 16G but I might even wait to see if Microcenter comes out with their own 16G which generally is cheaper than Sandisks.

Theoretically if it supports 16 it should support 32.. & Since we know it does support 16 32 should work..
I have a 16gb in mine works perfect, but this question is kind of pointless anyway. Can you even buy a 32gb microSD ? I haven't found one.
Clinton
there are some test units running in the wild, I Would expect them to show up at the big etailers any time now..
Hmm. I have not found any 32GB versıons off the Micro SD cards.
I do just have a 16GB one.
However I do not know how the phone works.
All I know ıs that it is in my mail at home.
Just cant wait to try it.
Gonna be exciting to see how it is compared to iPhone 3G and SE X1.
It will support pretty much any microsdhc card the higher class the better chance
Is Class 6 that important?
I'm getting a MyTouch today. Is it better to get a 8Gig Class 6 over getting a 16Gig Class 4. Is the speed much of differance in day 2 day operations? Yes, the answer would just get a 16Gig Class 6 but, the price is a little high compared to the Class 4 models. So, more storage or speed?

Class 10 sd cards

Does the G1 support class 10 sd cards?
Also, using a custom rom, can I partition the card so that a 32 gb sd cards works?
You obviously know something nobody else knows about... where to get a 32GB class 10 uSD card..... link please?

Good luck jamming that into a uSD slot.
Its about 4 times too large, physically.
LOL.... I love these threads every few months.
The keyword you have missed OP, is the word micro. Micro carries a LOT of meaning.
either way you guys have been pretty pathetic with answering the questions:

Nobody really knows the answer to your question. I'm guessing mostly because the 32gb microSD cards are almost worth as much as the dang phone itself. In the meantime, you can buy one and try it....if it works let us know as well.
On every search that I ran on google everyone keeps saying that the G1 doesn't support them.
the g1 should work with all SDHC cards 4gb - 32gb when it comes out

But still nobody will know because they'll probably be like 150 bucks
You could always buy one and see for yourself, I have not heard someone do it yet, but maybe you can and report back to us what you find out
Remember that sdcard and micro sdcard are DIFFERENT...
I ordered one for my hero, if it doesn't work, I'll put it in my camera. It's backordered at the moment... I'll update. I'm pretty sure that the G1 and Hero have the same SD compatibility (2.0) and I think that the class 10 is SD 3.0... so I have doubts
well, i have a class 10 16gb MicroSD Card in my Leo and it's working fine.
Also i have 2 more 16Gb cards (1 x Class 4 and 1 x Class 2), between the Class 2 and Class 4 i don't notice the speed difference when playing around on the phone but i do indeed notice the improvement in speed when using the class 10 one, so my guess is Class 10 will most likely work fine in all HTC phones using that slot form.

64GB's on HD7!?

Is it possible? I recently bought an HD7 and am ready to upgrade my memory!
I read a thread about an HD2 running WP7 with a 64GB SDXC Class 6...
Just wondering if it's possible for our awesome phones
Any insight appreciated.
Below is pic from article I read couldn't locate the thread and I'm almost certain posting outside links is a frowned upon...
Cheers!
This would be great anyone else have any info on this
UPDATE: I've found two posts by dorianmuthig on this thread referring to the situation.. Still craving a definitive answer!
First of all - big thanks for the post - I'll actually be donating something to u if it works for me -> now, my main qestion is whether SDXCs are recognized - specifically 64GB sdxc. I'm planning on going all out and purchasing a 64GB SDxc MicroSD from Amazon (the Komputerbay 64GB Micro SDXC MicroSDXC Class 6). Theyre relatively new, definitely less than a year old - so I'm wondering whether that file format will cause performance or other issues against windows Phone 7.5 (mango). Thanks
No, SDXC cards are not supported. SDXC cards will simply not be recognized by the phone, the HTC SPL doesn't support them. You can only use microSD or microSDHC cards in the phones, and due to the fact that there are almost no microSDXC cards on the market as of yet, it can take quite a while for the first phones (not just Windows Phone 7 Series) to support them.

I was wondering if 32GB is the biggest you can put into the phone. Maybe I can put in a 64GB Micro SD.
Thoughts?
Yes, 32GB is the largest capacity SD card you can put inside the device, because that's the limit of the SDHC standard. Larger cards are SDXC cards and those aren't supported by the phone. If you put an SDXC card in the phone one of two things will happen: Either the card is smart and pretends to be an SDHC card (see Kingmax cards) capping itself at 32GB (might show as corrupted at first) or it simply won't be recognized. Many Android phones do work with the recently released SanDisk® Mobile Ultra™ microSDXC™ memory cards (http://sandisk.com/products/mobile1-memory-products/sandisk-ultra-microsdxc-card) and odds are that HTC Windows Phones with a recent SPL bootloader do recognize them properly (even though they are UHS-I cards), but I don't know if they'll pass the performance test, nor are they very cheap. If you want to try it, be my guest.
Available card models are: SDSDQY-064G-U46A (Europe) , SDSDQY-064G-A11A (Americas & Pacific)

Side-question - What 32GB MicroSD Card are you using? I might be stuck with 32 measly gigs! I really wanted to stick it to all the 64GB rockin' iphone users who laugh at WP7 [but, not my Galaxy Note though!]
Anyone can add the final word to this?
if it's possible, reliable without decreasing its performances, i'll look for sdxc soon!!
I think they take the card and reformat it fat32 so the phone can read 64g card.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Nothing more about that??
As far as i know there is no support for sdxc that is 64 gb card type..... As for the lower gb's are sdhc which is suported.....
Here some info from wiki might help you understand a little better.....
Host devices that comply with newer versions of the specification provide backward compatibility and accept older SD cards, but older host devices do not recognize newer cards.
A newer card may offer greater capacity than the host device can handle.
A newer card may use a file system the host device cannot navigate.
Use of an SDIO card requires the host device be designed for the input/output functions the card provides.
SDXC
The Secure Digital Extended Capacity (SDXC) format supports cards up to 2 TB (2048 GB), compared to a limit of 32 GB for SDHC cards in the SD 2.0 specification.

well there are 2 methods:
using official rom to upgrade the card, i believe only certain cards are supported: [Tutorial] Upgrade your HTC HD7 memory to 32 GB
The other method is using a custom rom called xmod , which claims u can use any type of sdcard : [Tutorial] How to recover SDcard using HD7
It is better if u go with option 2 which is a more viable method, but it requires installing a custom rom.
I'm pretty sure the HD7 can take a 64GB card - the HD2 uses the same software as the HD7, and it supports 64GB SDXC.

64GB SDXC... that could be a nice thing to do, but some proof is the best way to show that it really works...
I've never used the benchmarks, but it's a SanDisk Class 10 and the number is SDSDQUI-064G-A11. I will post shots later, but I do know some HD7's won't accept 64GB, Tmo one works.

The 64gb SD cards will work, but the device has to have a newer version bootloader 5.12, the 5.11 bootloader might work too!

It's been confirmed for a while now that the 5.12 bootloader supports 64gb SDXC cards.
I'm curious to know if the 5.11 will support it too...although I don't think it does.
I really wish my 3.1 bootloader would support it, or if someone could figure out how to hack the 5.12 bootloader to install XSPL, custom roms and it would support the 64gb SDXC card....That would be awesome!

compatible 32gb cards

hi,
I'm just looking at upgrading my HD7 to 32gb. I've found a class 4 card that i know will work 100%, but i'd much rather buy a class 10 card. Does anyone know if SanDisk SDSDQU-032G-U46A will work ok? available on amazon. or has anyone else had a class 10 32gb card working in their handset?
thanks in advance
will keep this thread posted with updates to try help others in future!
I know some guys are using a 32gb - Class 10 - micro SDHC in their hd7's and just about any 32gb micro SD or micro SDHC card will work now... Just not micro SDXC cards. Not a 100% sure if the SDSDQU model will work for sure though, but if it's a newly manufactured card it should work! If there's a return policy, get it and try it, if it doesn't work return it and get the 32gb - class 10 - SDHC.
You can bench the card that you get in a PC using CrystalDiskMark 3 http://crystalmark.info/download/index-e.html

I just picked up a HD7 to have a play with WP7. Was not intending to upgrade it but when I inserted the sim it did not go in correctly so I had to remove the back anyway. I had a 32GB Lexar class 10 which I know people have reported as not working. I've been running it for five days with no issues. I've loaded music, movies and apps all run nice and fast with no stuttering
the only card that work very good is only old class 2...Sandisk is perfect!
Im using a sandisk 32gb class 10 the red and black one with no problems at all
