Radio has to be on? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

Ok so I was loking at a post to flash a new rom, and it says i.e. radio must be on. What does that mean?

It means you have to have the phone's calling functions (i.e. making/receiving calls) switched on, i.e. you must not be in "Airplane mode" (where the phone functions/radio is switched off).

The radio needs only to be on when you put hardspl on your device, not for regular flashing.

Radio not working propery

Weird thing going on with my phone. No rom updates or major changes.
It was working one day then it just stopped after a reset. It seems like the OS does not know that the Radio is actualy working fine. It asks for the pin but then it does not go any further and still shows No Service & a question mark on the tool bar. I have called it an you know that the radio is connected as it wakes the phone from sleep mode.
Any ideas on how to sort this out?
You must turn of flight mode to see the level of wave on your network. if it still has no signal please hard reset your PPC. and check again for that problem
I had a problem similar to this after I mashed up the phone's registry. Basically, it'd prompt me for the PIN, but even though I'd enter it correctly, the phone could never get out of flight mode.
Ended up reflashing the firmware onto it, which was handy in the long run as it gave me a chance to stick Pug's cooked rom onto it (with the later radio version)... I think your problem is one of those which mandates a hard reset and/or reflash :/
you can also change the radio version for your PPC. the newest is 1.04
Indeed, that was the real reason for me using Pug's rom as opposed to a regular rom (because it has the 1.04 radio in it) - it's made an improvement. I can now get a signal in my house (!) whereas before, due to where I live (no signal towers for miles, and I live in a valley), I just couldn't get signal at all. Not very useful.

Best RADIO for TOFCLOCK/HELMI WM6 ?

7 radio ROM exist for our HIMALAYA -
http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=132&func=select&id=26
My experience -
1.08 - Modem not ready sometimes for GPRS > need Off/On radio. Faster discharge battery ?
1.17 - Phone not reply (inaccessible) for incoming talk sometimes > need Off/On radio.
1.19 - Off/On radio (flight mode) is very slow or imposible.
which one is the most stable?
Im trying now 1.14.
Radio 1.19 is so far so good for me.
1.17 works good on my HIMALAYA(TOFCLOCK)~
signal problem
Now I`m using 1.18 .
With my experience with my device , this radio version is very bad . sometimes the signal strength lost / blank . Huhhh
I`m tired with my device .
Anyone can solve the signal problem ?
with change the radio version or what !!!
Thanks
I am still using radio version 1.08 and this is working fine for me,
Best Regards
Im still running 1.08 too but not stable enough. Will try others soon....
Hmm, right now I'm using 1.18 (were using all of them already).
Signal is good, and right now battery is 18% and I'm still able to talk, without any voice quality drop.
Still, can't return from airplane.
Hi,
Is it possible to turn the flight mode off from the wireless manager. I do not seems to be able to do that with radio rom 1.18. With radio 1.08 it was possible. Well I will use with radio rom 1.18 for a few days to see if it is stable.
Hi, having the same annoying bug for radio roms 1.17, 1.18 and 1.19 - after a reset (hard or soft) I see gsm network signal for some time (from 1 sec to 3-4 hours) and then it disappears, and there's no way to make the phone get operating again. I'm still trying the 1.08, and it seems not to have any strange behaviour... it does the same with WM2003, 2005 and 2006.
I really do not care about the battery, as long as I can receive calls so as for now, I'll keep the 1.08...
so.... it's not a bug. It seems you have a broken radio or some really old hardware? Don't know. It's PH10B, right?
@utak3r could you explain me more detail about PH10B concerning its capability. It must be good knowledge for us. Thank in advanced. Also if you have a way how to improve the performance, indeed not to change the PDA with the new one
I contacted SosTekIt, which released an Italian rom based on WM2005, and he was of the same opinion; but, in WM2005 I'm still trying with the same SIM card, I have no issues at all.
Yes, the board is PH10B, and the strangest part ever is that in WM2006 if I can make a call in the few seconds I see the signal, then the phone is fully functional, even for HOURS. But when I roam out of the gsm cell, the signal disappear.
Truly, this is freaking me out
Well, I can believe you...
This is really strange, and as for now I can find no explanation for such a behaviour. Will try to think about it, but... oh well.
Some more details...
1. Same strange behaviour in WM2005 (buzz rom)
2. The "Preferred Networks" (Settings -> Phone -> Network -> Set Networks) list shows that my mobile operator is always the last, unchecked. I modify the list, update the settings, and they keep existing until I get out of GSM cell.
3. When awakening, if the phone shows the G icon of GPRS, then it locks to the signal and never looses.

best t-mobile radio rom for northeast (NY/NJ/PA) - going nuts

it's been a minute since updated the mda. i forgot which one denotes the radio, maybe gsm?
i get so many dropped calls it rediculous. also sometimes i can't end a call or the keypad does not do anything. i.e. trying to get into Vm i can dial the vm but punching my keys for the passcode does nothing.
really awyward when i want to hang up and i can't.
better radio rom is first priority
---------------------------------
xplore rom
gsm 2.25.11
ipl /spl 2.26
os 1-.2.0.0
most use 2.19 or 2.69
i would use 2.19, good call quality and reliable
also, you might want to upgrade to ipl/spl 3.08, faster boot up
for the buttons not working in your VM, download and install Advanced Config
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070
in the phone setting page, make sure that the DTMF checkbox is not checked.
thanks. 80% of my calls dropping is a nightmare.
I see I have a file I saved called T-Mobile-NL_2.19.11_Radinly.zip but the NL notes Netherlands perhaps? Can i use this or should I check somewhere else?
I'll get to the other ROM update later but thanks for the heads up. I need to get back into updating my baby.
anyone familair with the issue that you cannot hang up sometimes or the keypad does not do anything in calls sometimes. on a fresh boot im ok however.
TIA
oops sorry i didn't see the phone buttons part. i'll try that
ok just got the advanced config
DTMF checkbox was not checked
went with 2.69 and testing now.
any idea rethe buttons, perhaps the rom. i get many phoen based admin systems where i cannot enter pin's etc.
i personally had this problem at one time. it had something to do with the way the rom flashed. reflash device. i never could get it working by changing any settings.
btw DTMF needs to be ENABLED not disabled. if DTMF tones are NOT enabled the "tone" is only echoed locally in the speaker of your phone but not actually sent to the other end.
thanks. phone is better now with 2.69.11, i''l try 2.19 later.
i opened a sep thread for the phone buttons but did enable DTMF and will report back
I'm using 2.61.11. Is anybody same as mine?
i'm using that now/ much better but still a few dropped calls. may need to try 2.19 next
I am in NYC and using a 2.25.11 radio ROM for almost 2 years, never have any problems. I think you need to upgrade your IPL/SPL

Disabling GSM/GPRS etc but keeping GPS

Hi guys,
I have been using my trinity solely as a GPS device running TT6 for the last few months. Flashed to wm6 etc, everything is working great - however:
- Is there a way I can disable the telecoms radio but still keep the GPS functionality? I don't have a sim card in the device, but every once in a while it still pops up with the 'emergency calls only' dialling pad, which requires me to hit cancel while driving & sometimes switch back to TT, which is annoying, let alone fairly dangerous at speed. I also guess doing this would have a small positive effect on the battery life of the device, etc.
Are there any 'GPS only' radio roms out there?
Thanks a lot for any help you can offer, this is a great forum!

In the CommManager you can disable everything!
Yeah I know, but when I disable phone / 3g / etc it goes into flight mode and turns the gps off as well (even without flight mode, just with 'phone' off)! Do you know if the gsm radio is independent of the gps, or if the comms manager just disables the whole chip...
Cheers

"Offline" and stability issue, ROM / Radio recommendation?

Hello all,
I have a Htc Touch Diamond (Rom 2.03.404.3 NLD, Radio 1.11.25.01) that I use with the GSM protocol only (I have 3g disabled for power consumption reasons).
My Diamond has the following problems:
- When I pull the USB/Power cable, sometimes the background illumination stays ON. I am unable to switch it off without performing a soft reset.
- Very often it appears that the phone is simply offline even though it displays full signal strength. It doesn't respond to incoming calls and I can't make any outgoing calls. I have to switch the transmitter OFF and ON again in the Comm Manager application before I can use the phone again.
This is a massive p.i.t.a: Sometimes I have been offline several days without knowing it !!! My phone is an unreliable piece of crap and I'm desperate to make it work more reliably. I don't need too many bells and whistles, I just want it to work. I think it is a power management or radio issue. I therefore installed HardSPL and a newer radio version (1.11.25.01) but the situation has not improved.
I am grateful for a tip on which ROM/Radio could solve these reliability issues!
Thanks in advance,
Arthur
Wow, very strange issues!
First, flash this radio : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=USMNPAS1
Second, flash this ROM with MTTY method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521941 (It's the best ROM with WM6.1/TF3D 2.1, you can't find more stable)
You have to know too that : when you flash a radio, you have to change too a DLL (rilphone.dll) in WM to link up both. Gen.Y ROM includes 1.13 rilphone, so you will more performance & stability with the 1.13 RADIO.
If yours problems continue, it's maybe a hardware problem, or maybe a SIM problem ? (i already seen SIM card who makes a phone do many bugs)
Hop i've been useful
Thanks, I'll try that.
