I rooted and upgraded my Nexus One to Froyo 2.2 (Build FRF50) long before T-Mobile started rolling out their OTA update to 2.2.
Now that they are updating all their Nexus One users I'm getting the "System update available" notification every all the time I use my phone.
Is there a way to remove the Update Available message?
Simply attempt to install it, you will reboot into the amon_ra recovery menu which will show that the update failed. The message will then go away.

I flashed back to RC29 and then upgraded to 30, and finally 33. I am now sitting on RC33 and when I check for updates it says none are available.
When I try to run "Radio_Dream_RC33_1_22_14_11.zip" as update.zip, also "G1OrigBootloader_nocheck.zip" they both give an error about being unsigned.
I am wondering if these two images not being flashed is causing me not to receive OTA? or is there something else wrong?
I want to get back to stock 1.6 TmoUSA
How did you upgrade to RC33? If you used anything from this forum - then it's not going to work as those are all unofficial roms and have update disabled in them.
Your best bet is to flash DREAIMG.nbh and check for update. That will get you to stock Donut.
Good luck.
Yes, I used DREAIMG.
Does it take a few days to pick up the OTA update though?
I recieved a notice for the 1.6 update last night.
I am all good now.
For the record, if anyone googles this thread, OTA updates go after a certain amount of time. Just because it says "no updates" in the check for updates field, just wait a few days and it will give you a notice.
Hi guys today I received official froyo 2.2 OTA but it fail to update
I am use modaco R20 any people have same problem
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
yes I have the same problems.... I'm waiting for r21 of Modaco....
did you get an exclamation mark in a triangle and android standing next to it? This is what I got as well. Not sure what happened, had to restart the phone and it is back to 2.1, it was originally in ER27.
I just restarted the phone and did a *#*#CHECKIN#*#* to force the download again and download, now its FRF91
Same here running stock 2.1!! The checkin command just gave me success but no reinitialisation of the update
Me too. It's probably because we're using a custom recovery image
to my understanding, we wont be able to update if you are using a mod... Now my issue is how do i get it to stop spamming my notification bar after i clear it. Anybody know how to disable system update notifications?
r21 is out. go get it.
Got the firmware today.. when it loaded it ran the entire progress bar and later said that it failed.. however in the settings it say jh7 and additional attempts to update says no updates available. Also.. after the update the superuser app is still installed and appears that root is still there. Any thoughts?

You have to unroot before you can do a ota upgrade. Rooting is suppose to block ota upgrades because a ota upgrade would remove superuser.
I read somewhere that people have had to flash back to complete original. I've rooted and removed AT&T crapware. Also, being new to the Android platform I need some guidance on how to go back to factory orig. I've heard of odin.. but base on my limited research I haven't seen if it is available to mac. I am familiar with Unix/Linux.. they are my primary OS'.. but messing with a phone OS is just a different animal altogether.
I had to redo the phone but the update never showed up.. So what I did was just flash the update from samfirmware and it is working even though I have to redo everything...

My phone is rooted and I updated without issue.
Well i just tred to update mine this morning, i finally got past the communication errors. The download went fine, but when it was installing it went from 0 to 50% percent in about a second and then said update failed and rebooted.
I'm on the stock JF6 rom, however i used odin to get there.
My Sim card and sd were left in, however my sd is blank
And i don't know what any other info i can post to be helpful
2.1 update
just did the update with one click root loaded.went though with no problems phone is faster with less lag.also i can still use as wi fi hot spot. new Quikoffice,Media hub,Mobile Video and you tube. well this may mean no 2.2?
I also did the ota update with root installed, allowed 3rd apps, with wireless tethering, and it went through fine for me but I still have poor gps, did not seem to do anything for the gps except removed the option to enter lbs test mode. Anyone know how to get to the lbs test mode after update?
Samsung Mini-Kies Updater
If anyone is having troubles with Mini Kies (I had the problem where the application crashed, using Win 7 x64), I'd recommend using the regular Samsung Kies application. I was unable to do the JH7 update even after restoring to complete stock with Odin (50% update failed error). This was easy, and now I am fully in JH7, and so far the GPS lock is much, much faster.
I'm on 4.2.2 right now, rooted and happy. I bought SuperSU Pro to get the "survival mode" option, and checked it. Now I'm trying to do the 4.3 OTA upgrade.
It downloads fine, and during the install, the android with the spinning blue globe appears, and the bar fills up about 10% of the way then the phone reboots. It refuses to update, and upon boot up it says "Software Update Failed!". No error messages, codes, or anything to search by.
Any ideas?

Have you flash the Recovery to your 4.2.2 version? If yes the OTA will not install
One more point, you cannot keep your root when you update from 4.2.2 to 4.3 via OTA too.
You can't update via OTA when rooted for some "strange" reason. You need to do that with PC Companion. I couldn't do that even when I was updating firmware in 4.2.2.
I am on the latest version as far as I can tell (LMY48I - VERIZON), but I keep getting the message to restart and install. It doesn't work because I have gone back to being rooted. Besides, I am already on the latest version. I went to all the trouble of un-rooting and stock, updated, re-rooted (twice) but the message keeps coming back. Anyone else?
The latest version for Verizon is LMY48M and can be found at https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#shamu. Since you are rooted the easiest way to upgrade is http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/using-image-to-update-nexus-6-data-loss-t3053158.
