Hey guys, just need a little help here. My bosses wife who currently owns a 2G IPHONE is trading up to a tilt. I am just curious since Ive never owned an iphone, how do you transfer contacts from one to the other? I usually use PIMBACKUP but doubt this will be compatible with the iphone. Just curious, thanks in advance.
Sync the iphone with outlook, then do the same with the Tilt.
um, well, um we don't do Iphones here. I would suggest planet-iphones.com for your help. Maybe look on the phone to find how to copy the conacts to sim or sync with outlook.
taken from an older discussion not on xda
To sync contacts and calendar on outlook open itunes, select your iphone, on summary tab check 'automatically sync when iphone is connected', on info tab check 'sync contacts with outlook' and 'sync calendar with outlook'

Click to collapse
then plug the kaiser in (after installing the latest version of activesync) then sync contacts and anything else you want via activesync (using outlook's saved information from iphone)

Not being petty, but seriously bro, we dont do iphones here but this is a pretty smart bunch of people here so I thought I would run it by our guys instead of going to another forum
I could understand your comment if I would have been asking questions on the how too's of a 2G vs 3G Iphone.
Thanks for the advice guys, will give this a shot.

Let me know if it works, have never done this and my company is considering supporting iphone's for clients instead of our current blackberry service.

Wow, weird. I don't see iPhone as a professional device at all.
No copy and paste? No excel? No Word? No SD card storage and file system? I mean come on...

simple iphone is a product you ether buy it or you dont...
business phone yes sort of iphone=email, phone and net.ease of use does wot it says on the tin
wm phone = a bit of everything...word excel etc, email phone and more.
thing ms need to do now is say to the world "what do you want on wm7.1" lol
I just stopped using my tilt.
It ended up being more of a pain.
Just making a phone call was frustrating.
If Microsoft can make a true touch controlled o/s it would make things so much better. HTC makes some cool stuff but the products themselves are made out of cheap materials. The tilt was my second htc device, they both didnt handle a years worth of use very well.

Just venting ? ( which is fine )
Or was there some point to reviving a 5 month old thread?
alright sorry guys, I've done a search in these forums and i apologize if I'm not doing it correctly.
I was wondering if there is any software out there such as bearshare or limewire for a mobile device. Every once in a while i here a song on the radio and cant remember when i get home to download it.
I did a bit of research on google, and it seems like there was quite a bit of stuff floating around about this topic in '05 and '06, but nothing I found seemed to be new.
Thanks guys!
There have been a few I saw..I used one back in 2007 but it was deactivated and the project was trashed. Ill do some more searching and see what I can dig up.

look for and app called Music ID, it listens to the song and finds the title and name of the artist, but requires a data connection.
ya i can always look up lyrics on google too, but it'd be much cooler if i could download straight from my phone because I'm rarely home.
thanks guys i'll check some stuff out

considering he/most people would use it to download "free stuff".....would it be wrong for him to just download a "free version" of that app

Just learned about this program from engadget.

It sounds really easy and fun to create your own app. I'm trying to think what app I need for myself.

cute. my draw back is the apk's i think of would require something of more complexity. however, i do like the the opportunity to build simple apps.
Perfect!
This is a great gateway to get people into developing.

I signed up, but it looks like it requires a driver to connect the phone to Windows. Even with the dual mount sd widget the appinventor Windows program wouldn't recognize my Vogue.
Does anybody know how long it takes to receive the download after submitting a request form? I'm very anxious to try this and I filled out the form yesterday
Signed up. Looks amazing, just what a guy with no programming skills needs. Now, how long do we need to wait? That's the main question.
Yeah I signed up two days ago. Hopefully we will receive download links within the next week or so. But this looks perfect for me. I've already done some of this building block programming with vB express. Its easy and fun to mess around with for sure.
Signed up for my Android device. Man, wish they had something like this for WinMo. Better yet, wish they had something like this for PC platforms!!
waiting game
Anyone know how long until we get the invite?
I submitted for an invite a few days ago yet no invite.
I want it NOW! Haha
Mhh, sounds weird, but should work well for standard things
I will stay at .net and objective c
This looks great. Next phone will be Android. I'll keep my HD2 for FpseCE.

After fill out the request form they say couple of weeks, as i know Google it means 2-3 weeks... So next or overnext week it should be there. Depending on how many ppl they want invite and how many have signed on...
So...anybody who has gotten the invite should hook a brother up with the install file...*cough* PM

From reading the site with all the information and such i dont think its something you download, but more of a browser based tool. Not quite sure how that would work... But it did say in the browser. Chrome extension maybe?
And if you watch the video they are doing it from within the browser. So no download. Im assuming that its not open to anyone because the site says to go to the website that we sign up at. So when we start seeing a log in button there, we know were in business.

I'd love to have android or wm6.5 running on a phone like HD7. It's a shame there aren't any phone's out that were like the HD7 that ran Android or wm6.5. If I was to invent some, i'd call the one that ran Android the "Desire HD", and the wm6.5 one the "HD2". that'd be awesome.
I guess it'd also stop people coming onto the HD7 Forum just to post irrelevent duplicate threads, or at least that's what you'd think....

Very unuseful? Yeah, MAYBE if you live in a country where Live services aren't enabled. I don't. So it's a very useful and productive OS for me.
And on the contrary, I OWN an HD7 and the software outshines the hardware by leaps and bounds. Go back to the Android forums.

Also, really, what is the point of this thread? So far i can see 4 people want Android on the HD7. 4 people who obviously can't read stickies (as nrfitchett4 pointed out) and also can't use the Search function. Why you didn't just get the desire HD is beyond me...

Confused
Can someone explain why the Desire HD doesnt meet your needs?
Or is it the point of having the desired outer shell and being able to change OS's at your choosing?
...basically the HD2 syndrome...
Probably because they don't have a DesireHD, they have an HD7.

hi, morpheus.. thats an excellent question. i'd love to get the desire. but i read that its hardware is similar to hd2... and the hd2 has call quality problems. but a friend of mine said that the call quality is clear... so i dont know if i should get the desire.
also, i was looking the the htc inspire. i'd like to dual boot wp7 and android on it. i'd like to know if this is possible. but i'm also worried about the batt life on it.

Because the DesireHD isn't on T-Mobile and the HD7 was the biggest screen available? I don't have a HD7 myself but what do you people have against having an option for other operating systems?

Would you settle for a Ford because the garage didn't have a Ferrari? That's the lamest excuse I've heard in a long time...
It's not Close mindedness, it's common sense. You want Android, get an Android phone. You want Dual Boot? Get a device capable of doing it.
Dual booting will become a reality for WP7 devices, it's only a matter of time. But creating Dozen's of threads on it isn't going to speed things up. If anything it'll slow it down.
My prediction is all of these WM6.5/Android threads will become redundant once Mango's released anyway, and people won't want to switch between OS's cos there'll be no point.

It is close mindedness, although I agree with the fact that if you wanted a Android he should have gotten an Android (I did, only reason I come to the HD7 forums is because my dad has one and I play with his). How did devices that are capable of dual booting come to be? It wouldn't have been possible if everyone was in mindset "I don't want that cause I have this".

And replying to every thread with the same canned off topic response is no better, sure he should have searched but being pricks isn't going to make him search in the future, it might just drive a potential future dev away from XDA.

I've been hearing good things about Mango and I think that WP7 will become a real competitor to iOS/Android once it comes out, until then however it is another story.
Who wouldn't want a device that can dualboot. It also preserves the life of the device in a sell/trade aspect.

I've seen exactly the same thing. The 1230 capacity battery on the Desire HD is way too small for a phone with 1ghz processor and the big screen.
The HD7 has the same specs of course, but because WP7 doesn't allow multitasking and background jobs the battery life isn't so much of an issue.

Personal opinion. WP7 is my favorite OS out there. I'll admit it has it's limitations, but for me there is no competition. It does what a smartphone should do better than any other device out there.
