Navigon map download problem - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

Hey
Just downloaded Navigon 2.6.1, and wanted to test it out, but when i try to download maps i get an error, no matter what method i try.
PC can't find any navigon device when i connect phone to pc trough Navigon Fresh, and if I click WLAN it just says Connection failed try again later, and then closes..
When using WLAN I have wifi turned on, and even tried standing right next to the router for perfect signal, but still the same.
When using the pc method it says i need to mount sd card, but when i do navigon complains about that no sd card is inserted.
So no matter if i select charge only or mount card, navigon fresh on the pc can't find any device.
Anyone got a solution for my problem?

Help! No USB... no SD card... now what?

Hi, my Touch HD is still under warranty but I'm running Hard SPL 1.56.Olinex.
My USB is not working, it just charges my phone. My SD Card reader is also not working... So I can only connect via BT and I can't find any way of restoring SPL without USB/SD... Is it impossible?

Do u try a HARD RESET? If you try a Hard Reset and still have the same Problem you can do some of the things.. tell me witch ROM u use.. maybe the USB problem that don`t wana sync is from the ROM.. also sometimes when you flash a 6.5 ROM the CARD is not visable one FOrmat normaly will clear the things but its bad when you cannot conetc to format via PC
The Best you can do is to flash Another ROM via SD Card but 1st you need to make your SD card working so if you have some SD adapter or some other device that you can take out your SD card from the Phone and conect it directly to the PC will be perfect to FORMAT it.. Once the problem with your CArd is fixed you can just put there some new ROM and Flash the Device...
Its very Bad when on the same time the USB and Card not working but don`t worry you can fix the things but its not so easy.
I'm running official HTC Touch HD_MR_2009_RUU_BlackStone_HTC_PTG_1.56.410.0_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe... I can connect to PC via BT and copy files...

Yes but the NEW Cooocked ROm is around 170MB so you will need few days to copy this via BT also when your SD card not working this is not posible because the ROM file must to be located in the root of the SD card
Now i understand that you use STOCK ROM so the best you can do is to go in HTC service for Warranty i was thinking you have a problem with Coocked ROM but when is with STOCK ROM its not your fault.
The problem is that I've installed Hard Spl... If I take it to HTC they probably are gonna say it's not covered by warranty...
If you use usb to charge your phone than datacommunication with your pc has to work.
Which OS are you running, because when you entering the bootloader your pc doesn't see your phone as a mobile device anymore.
If you're running WMDC and entering the bootloader than Vista or W7 is searching for new drivers..... If not found read this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524619
For XP you have to install the drivers yourself.
They can also be found in the link.
When the drivers are installed en your phone is synced than it will show USB in bootloader.
After that flash back to stock SPL
Hopefully this is will help you, your problem is very strange
Because of a not workin SD card and a not working USB
I wish you luck!
Thx! I'll give it a try tonight... but I don't think that will help because I've hard-reset the device and tried with Windows 7 and Windows XP and nor the phone nor the pc show any message.
I remember that the SD card did show up, but after a few seconds it would disappear... But now it never shows up... Already changed usb options on control panel...
The last thing I did when the SD was ok was trying Android with no luck.
I believe it's really an hardware problem and maybe I could replace the board that has SD/USB/SIM but would like to use my warranty....
If you update usb drivers there's a good chance that your device will show up on pc. Don't forget to 'enable usb connections' in activesync connections settings
Also if this doesn't work try flashing orginal stock rom which came with your device. This rom, and only this rom, will still flash as long as you are connected to pc (doesn't need to say 'usb' at bottom of bootloader). Alternatively try MTTY
Rick
I had a very similar problem when I last tried andriod. first of all my sd card dropped off, It would go in, be seen and then drop again as soon as I tried to access it. Android had corrupted it. Try reformatting your SD card fat32, copy the rom on and try updating the ROM again using your SD card.
It also busted my pc drivers on my pc, I had to uninstall them completely and then load the latest drivers. If you have another pc try it on this first before faffing with your USB drivers.
Once my sd card was back I couldnt flash any roms, no usb connection. I did a hard reset and then went into spl manually and set it running that didnt seem to work but when my phone rebooted usb was backup.
It seems andriod manager to corrupt my ROM, SD card and uSB drivers on my PC, I havent bothered with Android since and wont until there is a bootable ROM available (never)?
Your USB cable may be bad. Sometimes they stop working and pc communications stops. I've had to replace my usb cables from time to time.

Last time I had something like this, I had to remove the HD from windows mediaplayer. For some reason it was there as plain "storage card" if I remember correctly. After that I could connect normally with the HD again.
*Have you verified that your SD Card is actually working at all?
*-I've had a problem in the past with an "old" SD Card that wouldn't recognise properly in either my PC or my phone. Turns out all i had to do was clean the contacts on it lightly. My original 8Gb SD Card that came with my Blackstone has also completely died. It will not format, will recognise then drop-off and attempting to use it in ANY manner resulted in it becoming excessively hot - Dead card, not replaceable under warranty
*If the SD Card works in your PC, have you tried formatting it to "Device Defaults" via the PC?
*-This problem has in the past also prohibited me from using my SD Card in my Blackstone. For some devices, without certain registry tweaks enabled, only particular formats of SD Cards are recognised. I have also noticed that the card must be formatted in a particular way to be useable as a ROM Flashing card. The Blackstone simply won't read any images from the card in bootloader mode if the card is formatted improperly.
* Try another USB Cable, being able to charge via USB does NOT mean it WILL sync, for example, if your USB cable has bent/damaged contacts, or if the cable itself has a broken lead, the VCC (voltage core) and GND (ground) leads can still create a circuit to send power to the device which will enable it to charge.
*-Also try other USB ports... you never know when one maybe too dusty / dirty / faulty
* Windows 7 / Vista? Uninstall Window Mobile Device Centre (WMDC) re-download and reinstall, or allow Windows Update to do this for you after you've uninstalled. A simple registry error can fark this right up. I should know, as I recently accidentally imported my Blackstone's registry backup to my laptop... ugh that was a nightmare. Windows 7 recovered, but I spent a few days browsing with the wrong user-agent, meaning a lot of websites were redirecting to their "mobile" or "wap" counterparts...ewwww
* Windows XP? Well I can't say too much there, as I haven't used it pretty much since Vista was released years ago. Just do your best to make sure all drivers are updated appropriately.
other sd card
have you tired a different sd card there are known issues with some types of cards sd vs' sdhc and class 2 vs' class 6 cards. Also you may have a bad usb cable? Do you have .net framework installed. are you trying all this on the same computer you used to flash your phone with hspl. You can try putting your phone into bootloader mode wait for usb to appear on the bottom of the tri-color screen and then reflash stock spl from there by opening the BlackstoneRUUWrapper and going through the steps it should see your phone. See the wiki!
And why did you hspl if you have a stock rom?
I did a sim-unlock and didn't restore the spl after the process... I was waiting for the perfect 6.5 ROM...
I didn't have time to test it yesterday but I brought it with me and will try again later...
I already tested the SD in other Windows Mobile phones and was ok... The SD is not the original (Transcend) but a SanDisk 8GB but already tried it with a 2GB SD and nothing. Also tried with different cables. And in different PCs (windows xp and Windows 7). Also did a hard-reset.
Nothing worked! When I enter bootloader with usb cable connected there is no SERIAL and no USB message, but if I remove the cable it changes to SERIAL and doesn't change anymore. On the PC, with XP, W7 and Ubuntu, nothing happens... lsusb gives nothing... on device manager it doesn't show up.
Regarding the SD card, when I insert it the screen turns on, but still no storage card detected... I really think it's an hardware problem.... I ordered this, just in case, http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-simmicrousb-card-module-p-7149.html, but will still try to take it to warranty before because there is a seal over one of the screws...
Thank you all!

SDcard unmounted or not present

Hi!
Just recently I decided to take a photo, but in the camera app, it said, "Please insert an SDcard before using the camera."
It got me a little worried, so I checked the gallery, sure enough, "SDcard unmounted or not present"
Astro can also see all my files, but I can't move, or paste files because it gives me an error.
So I check my music, for some reason, all of it's there, and all of it plays normally.
I can't download things directly to the phone either because it gives me the error "Not enough space" but I can mount it to my PC and add files to it.
Can anyone help? I don't know what the problem is!
I am running Cyanogenmod 5.0.6, and tried going back to a nandroid restore I made before flashing the OC/UV kernel, but that still didn't work.
did you try removing sd and then putting back what steps have you tried already?
Yes I have tried removing and reinserting the sdcard, I'm going to try flashing a new ROM, or at least reflash CM5.0.6
I think it might also be the phone, as the sdcard will pop out if I pull out the battery, because it won't click anymore like it used to, but if this was really the problem, wouldn't the music not play?
hey there, did you ever find a solution to your problem. I get extremely frustrated when my SD card is not recognized. I have flashed and reflashed and re-reflashed, with two different roms, fresh and DC, it has done it with both, it HAS to be a hardware issue.
tried formatting the SD? Or deleting the folders android creates?
I had the same problem on my Evo a couple of times. I had connected it to my Mac and basically the Mac doesn't recognize it if you turn off USB storage from the phone - you have to eject the phone from the Mac or it gives an error, and apparently corrupts the sd card.
The fix is to connect your phone to a Windows computer, open Explorer, right click on the phone drive, click Properties, go to the Tools tab, run Check Now (make sure that Automatically fix file system errors is selected). This takes a few minutes, but it works - at least it has worked both times I had this problem.
Whenever trying to run gingerbreak api from file explorer....
Keep getting error "there is a problem parsing the package"

[Q] Connecting to PC

I have two questions concerning making a connection to a PC and hope someone can help me out here.
After much experimenting, I was finally able to connect my I9000 to my PC, without using KIES. But it was short-lived.
I read about someone removing his micro SD card, making some changes to a setting and then connecting as Storage. Well that worked for me. Once.
Now I can't connect again (Win XP) either with the card inside or without it.
If someone can tell me how to have my PC recognize my I9000 that would be great.
My second question is concerning where files are stored on the I9000.
When I made my only connection, I couldn't see which folder I should be transferring my data files to.
For example my .xls files, or my .doc files, or my .txt files etc etc.?
There are many possible places to copy them to and I'm sure they need to be in the right folder.
TIA
I installed the latest Kies and from it's menu I selected "Driver Recovery" - this installs the latest drivers for your phone.
Then from the home screen select Settings - About Phone - USB Settings - Samsung Kies. Go back to the home screen and plug in your phone - you should be good to go.
You don't have to use the Kies program - the drivers the program installs will show your built-in phone storage and your sd card storage as two seperate volumes in Windows Explorer.
You can also use Window Media Player to sync your music etc.
Note - for the connection to work you have to be using the default TouchWiz launcher on your phone - if you're using LauncherPro or ADW Launcher you'll have to switch back to the TWLauncher - you can use Home Switcher from the market to do this easily.

I'm having a ***** of a time making a connection!
I gave in and installed KIES (said 160MB). It turned out to be over 2G and took over 30 minutes to install!!!
After all that it wouldn't recognize my phone!
I re-imaged my hard drive to get rid of the damn program because un-installing it sure didn't work.
So I'm back to square one. Any other ideas where I can get the necessary drivers for Win XP SP2 ?
TIA
Thats odd - I downloaded Kies and it is only 141mb - I have it in front of me... and while I don't use it for anything it seems to provide the latest drivers. If you look at one of the stickies there is a download for just the drivers... good luck.

Thanks I'll try to find the sticky for the download.
The actual download was 145 MB, but after it finished installing, (which involved an online install) it was more than 2G (I chose the complete install).
Running uninstall got rid of most of the program but not my disk space!
I couldn't find where the files were hiding and certainly wasn't going to mess inside my registry to get rid of stuff.
I tried downloading the drivers but that didn't help.
One of a multitude of problems:
I have my phone connected to PC now (PC doesn't know about phone though)
and I'm in debug mode for USB.
I try to open the App "My Files" and get this friggin' message:
"Your phone does not have a SD card inserted" !!!!
In other words in this state, it is telling me that it can't even recognize the internal SD card!
I've gotten other confusing messages like this one when I've had my 8G external SD card inserted into phone, I launch the App "My Files" and phone tells me there is no SD card inserted!!!
Frustrating!!
A fresh test.
First I insert my 8G micro SD card into my I9000.
Then I go into App "My Files" and I can only see the files on my newly inserted 8G micro SD card. I can't see the files on my internal 8G! (But I could see them using this app just before I inserted my micro card!!!)
Yes, both the internal and the external SD mem are mounted!
Next test. I connect my I9000 to my netbook (Win XP)
and of course my I9000 still isn't recognized by my netbook (it did just once a few days ago).
Then I go into App "My Files" and guess what I get this time?
"Your phone does not have an SD card inserted" !!!
Yeah, tell me about it dear.

Yeah, I know!
Talk about bloat! What does Kies actually do that requires that size?
I think Samsung must be taking the mickey!
They probably think their customers are total idiots...

Maybe I misunderstand. Are you trying to connect to the PC in order to transfer some files to/from PC?
If so, put phone into 'Mass Storage Mode' (from 'Idle screen' > settings >About phone> USB settings> select mass storage.
Connect the usb cable, then pull down from top of screen and confirm to connect as mass storage.
Appologies if you already knew that

Thanks for trying to help. Yes I already knew that, and have done it many times.
I can't help you but I have the same issue in XP SP3
Find 2 removable storage devices (Internal, SD External) but doesn't allow me to browse through either.
It makes sense not giving you access to the internal if the file system is not supported from windows but my sd external is fat32 so it should work.
Unfortunately you can't specify to only use one storage device through external usb connection.
I'd be good to know a workaround for this. I connect my phones to my headunit and it only takes fat32
I had the same experience. I was using AWD Launcher while I was trying to connect to my PC, SGS shows changing, but PC doesn't show anything. As soon as I changed to Samsung Launcher, PC detect my SGS.
so you're telling me that I need to install drivers? it won't be automatic external storage detection just like on a windows mobile device or even the newer iphone 3g onward?

Interesting take on this ado.
At one point I was able to see 2 removable storage devices (Internal, SD External) on my desktop and netbook (both have Win XP SP2).
But, as happened to you, I couldn't get access to them when I clicked on them.
More info that might help with this puzzle:
I installed KIES (full install) and couldn't connect after selecting KIES on the phone).
I am not able to connect using Mass Storage mode either.
I was able to connect ONE time on the netbook and get into the phone folders. I believe this was after installing Samsung New PC Studio 3.
But after that, no dice.
When I first started trying to connect on the desktop and netbook I would get the typical Windows USB connection messages: unknown USB device, would you like to install drivers from this location? etc. etc.
That was good! It showed promise.
Then after a few times I stopped getting those messages from both devices. During that period, I made a partial connection on each device.
I could see two new drives (internal and external SD). But when I clicked on them it showed no space available. Braindead basically.
Something possibly related that I can't figure out at all.
When I go into 'My Files' /sdcard/ will only show SD internal IF my external SD card is not inside the phone. If my SD external card is inside the phone then it shows the SD external only, not the SD internal! Why?
Also very confusing: When I pull down the menu from the top on home screen and select Ongoing: USB connected: Select to copy files to/from computer, then it asks to Mount.
I choose Mount, go to 'My Files' and it says "Your phone does not have an SD card inside!" WTF? (It says that with or without an external SD card inside).
Also strange, when I chose Mount, it then starts to sever the USB connection with messages scrolling by at the top.
So to summarize (this is strictly from the phone's side)
when I connect via Mass Storage it seems to indicate that a USB connection is made. But when I select Mount, the USB connection is terminated!
Success, finally!
I wish I could tell you exactly what the magic bullet was, but it happened gradually. You know how you change something and it seems to help a little. So you change something else and it seems to be getting better?
Here are they key steps that I can remember:
-I went back and re-installed SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_x86.exe.
There are no messages given after the install completes, they're just drivers, not a program.
-I put the I9000 into debug mode for USB connections (not sure if I need this now).
-After connecting the phone to WinXP I went to phone's home screen, notification window and selected the USB connection and chose to Mount the drive(s).
I can now see and access both the internal SD and the external SD! WOW!
if you want Kies just to manage and organize your phone, i found a better software for that than kies
check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765081
So a driver instal is required. Bugger. I need my external storage to show up and be defaulted to first because it would be nice if I could connect to my headunit in car to get to my mp3's.
Maybe some sort of hack could help here
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
@ado_civon: I'm not sure you do need to install the drivers.
My issue was that I was not getting the 'USB connected, touch to transfer files' status bar option.
I'm using Dark's ROM (based on Froyo) and don't see the Settings > About Phone > USB settings option. However, when I switched on Settings > Applications > Development > Enable USB debugging, and reconnected, I did get the status bar option.
Sadly, selecting this still did not let my computer (a Win XP machine at work, so I have no administrator rights) recognise the drive. Maybe it works for others, though. On my HTC Hero this works fine, so I'm still not sure why it won't work with the SGS

[Q] Need help, trying to flash without active sync

For whatever reason, my T2 will not connect to my Win 7 machine running mobile device center. Have gone to the extent of wiping both and starting from scratch, is there a way to flash a ROM without connecting it to a pc or another alternative?
THANKS!
Yes, you can flash from the SD card. There are instruction on how in the n00b guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
But basically just use a USB card reader to put the .nbh on the SD card. Put the Sd back in the phone and go into bootloader.
Thanks! I'll give it a shot.
Didn't work, error and failure of transfer of files to SD card connected as external storage. I just wish I knew why I can't connect to WMDC....it doesn't make sense....
Try re-formatting the card, FAT32 as indicated in the n00b instructions.
It's already in FAT 32. I've been flashing roms since my first htc 3 years ago. I've never had a problem until this rom/issue with my computer. I've always synced through the PC and I can't get the damned thing to connect. It's frustrating the hell out of me because this rom keeps hanging and freezing.
Are you using the phone or a card reader to put the .nbh file on theSD card?
I've tried both. I think it's getting to the point where it's the PC i'm using. Which is a problem as all my other computers are Mac or Linux. If WMDC would work I wouldn't be having this problem which is an issue with this PC, I can't get the file over which at this point has to be a problem with this PC. Guess I'm screwed until I can get my hands on someone else's PC... aren't I? I do really appreciate the help!
If you're getting an error using a card reader, the SD card might need to be reformatted. Yes, it might be the PC. But if you don't have any valuable data on the card, I'd try to format it and see if that helps. Also try different USB ports, they can be finnicky sometimes.
There's too much on it to wipe the card until I can get back to one of my Macs over the weekend. This is the first real issue i've had and none of it makes any sense as to why the pc/wmdc won't see or set up a partnership with the phone. I'll try wiping the card when I can, was hoping there was a way to get rid of this rom as it really sucks.
Do you have "Enable faster data synchronization" unchecked under Start>Settings>Connections>USB to PC? Some people have had success getting ActiveSync to connect after disabling this, especially with Vista and Windows 7.
What ROM is giving you the headaches, if I may ask?

[Q] Internal and External card issues

Guys
I have a wierd problem with the usb connections in Froyo 2.2 version. Each time I try to connect my galaxy to computer, I am seeing 2 different drives on my computer but they are inaccessible. So I went to the USB connection from the homescreen roll out and then clicked "connect to usb" button. Normally, after clicking that button, I should get a pop up window to ask if I a want to mount the sdcard or not. Unfortunately, I am not getting that dialogbox and I am not able to mount the sdcards at all. Instead, I am having only the option to turn off usb. By doing this, my camera starting working perfectly. But if I restart my mobile for any reason, then both the internal and external card memories and camera are getting inaccessible.
Although I have inserted a 16gb of external memory card, because of these issues I am not able to access that as well. The mount SD card menu and is not working at all. Any help to resolve the above isssu is highly appreciated.
I am currently on Factory rom with following specifications.
Baseband Version I9000DXJPB,
Firware Version - 2.2;
Kernel version - 2.6.32.9 root-at-SE-S604 #1;
Build Number : FROYO.DXJPE
Although this is a basic problem that most of the galaxy owners must be experiencing it I couldnt find the right anwer anywhere on the net.
So Droidbraines out there - please help me.
