[Q] flickering screen - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey to everybody,
some days ago I bought a new battery for my x1 from ebay/HongKong.
The x1 worked for some hours with the new battery but then suddenly went off while I was speaking on the phone. So I put my old original accu in, switched on the device and suddenly the screen began to flicker. So I switched it off and on again but the flickering wont stop. I did this approx five times and finally the flickering was gone. As soon as I put in the new battery again the device worked normally until I went off again and I switched to the original accu. Then the flickering began again.
Has anyone an idea why the screen flickers when switching the accus from new-HongKong to old original one?
What battery do you use? An ebay-link or name would be nice.
Thanks and greetings from Germany.

Potentially it means your old battery is on the way out and simply doesn't have enough power to get the screen going properly, as well as the fact your new battery is a Chinese crap.

For batteries and flash, don't buy from wholesale chinese sites like dealextreme and so on.

Diamond Shutting Down

I don't know what is happening but the last 2 nights my Diamond turned itself off during the night.
The first night it was due to my diamond having a battery leak, my entire battery drained during the night so I couldn't turn it on until i charged it.
But last night was different it just turned itself off and this morning i needed to switch it on again, when i did it was fully charged :S
Are there more people experiencing this problem and if so, what is the last thing you do before laying it away for the night?
I usually kill all programs (with the default menu in the topright) and then run oxios closeapps.
I'm getting the same thing. I have a UK T-Mobile MDA Compact IV (HTC TD).
Last thing I do is close all progs and leave on the home screen plugged into the manufacturer supplied AC charger.
When I awake in the morning 5/10 times it's shut down, no idea why though!
Might be a heat cut out while charging thing?
Jamie
I think your handsets are fautly. if you have warranty just send them for repair. and if you are withing the 28day limit then get a brand new replacement
dead as well
same over here Netherlands t mobile, phone runs for half an hour and then its dead , only to wake up after taking out the battery. I have already flashed the phone so , BeyBey phone???
mine is uk tmobile and have seen it just shut down without warning
i knew the battery was low though, it was also damn hot, switching back on whilst connected via usb would see it get a few seconds into booting before black screening on me again
cant decide if it needed more juice in the battery or cooling down before i would start properly
as i didnt get a low battery warning, which i know does work, i am suspecting over heating - it was serioulsly hot

Hey all.
Flashed my compact with the following
Olinex 1.40 Hard SPL
Shone on 1.4 WWE Rom
1.00.25.05 Radio
I also swapped battery with the wife's HTC Diamond for a few days then swapped back (may make not a drop of difference) but the closing down issue has not repeated itself at all.
Good luck & hope my information is useful

I've had my MDA C IV for a month now, it happened to me for about 3 nights in a row, a few weeks back. But not had the problem since. Not flashed the phone and only installed a few apps.
Somewhere here is allready a thread where many people are reporting reboot of the diamond over night while it is charging. They stated it happens only with device plugged in, so perhaps all posters in this thread have encountered the problem also with plugged in Diamond.
Because so many have this issue perhaps it is not a faulty device, but a faulty design of it. If only loaded my device once over night and did not payd attention to this, but I fear my device will do the same thing.
I haven't had this problem, but then I have never charged my phone overnight. Why do that? The phone can be recharged quite quickly. When i am at work, I simply connect the phone to my laptop USB. Syncing and charging at the same time. That's about it. Indeed I have never used my charger for the last 2 years with my Hermes either.
hi guys,
im having the same issues, maybe worse, im new so please be nice...
i came back to my phone and the screen was black, the only noticeable sign of life was the ''breathing''...
as i normally do i pressed the key to turn it on but this time it wouldnt turn on...it was as if the screen was frozen...after a while it came back on but than the phone was frozen...tried pressing more keys and than the screen went to a ''static'' like display (like what u get on a tv)
the phone then turned off for no apparent reason...after a few minutes of repeating this i decided to do a soft reset...
its back to normal...for now.....
the battery is full...
thoughts?
Thanks
Had a the same thing on my Touch Pro a couple of times. Sounds like a common fault.

Tytn II after water damage

I bought my Tytn II in Sept 2007, but on December 31st 2008 I was off my head an chucked it down the toilet, it was in the toilet for at least 30 minutes.
3 months later I tried powering it on but got nothing, so I left it aside for another 2 months and bought an MWG Zinc II to replace it, then one day I tried to turn it on again and surprisingly it did power on (on mains only) it was acting a bit wierd with regard to the power light it was kinda flickering then after about a minute the phone would switch off making a little dink sound as it did so. It wasn't charging the battery at all (which was flat before it went into the toilet).
I tried to put a sim card in but it wouldn't find a network, so as it didn't work on battery at all I decided to get a new one off eBay as they were only £ 3. I didn't expect it to work properly but for £ 3 it was worth seeing what would happen.
Today I got the new battery and when I first put it in the power light was flickering again, it powered on and battery had 36% charge, it wasn't charging the battery but it would power on from the battery only, and the battery didn't go down while on mains.
For the heck of it I thought I'd stick a sim in to see if I'd get a network and sure enough I did and made a phone call on it, this was new to me as on the old battery it couldn't get a network even. I played about with it some more and eventually it started charging the battery.
It now appears to be working fine this is amazing!
EDIT:
I've been using the phone over the last few days and I have noticed what I would describe as a minor fault with the phone, if you set the back light to maximum the screen flickers wildly, as you lower the brightness the flickering lessens until it stops completely at the lowest three settings.
This is not really a problem to me as I have always used it on the second brightness notch and here its fine and plenty bright, the only time you ever see a problem then is when you soft reset it because the HTC logo screen is at maximum brightness, the flickering soon disappears as the user setting takes over, and also when you start the camera to take video the screen is automatically set to max brightness so the screen flickers while taking video, it takes photos just fine.
In all other respects the phone works perfectly I even put the old battery in and now thats charging, it seemed all it needed was a new battery to get it charging again as before it refused to charge the battery.
I will be keeping the phone as I sold my MWG Zinc II the other day so need it for the time being, I will probably replace it in a couple of years.

Xperia Z1 screen problems

Hi, I do not know whether it is the screen problem or the rom problem.
A week ago, I went hikinh up in malaysia and the phone got wet and couldnt turn on. I let it rest for a few days, and then did the rice thing. The battery was flat so i had it charged. It worked well for the past few days, but today while editing some photos on the phone, the screen suddenly sstarted fading to a black screen and couldnt be turned on. The battery was at 76%. Read some online forums and decided to plug it in to the charger, it booted, but the same thing happenned again. Now I flashed the ihackers rom over again and am waiting to see if the same thing will happen again.
Did anyone encounter such problems before?
Thanks in advanced.

[Q] battery issue. please help :)

hi everyone.
ai bought a second hand gear 1 from ebay and the seller said she obly used it twice when she got it a year ago and its been sat unused since then.
my issue is that i charge the watch up and it seems to go down normally and then when its about halfway down it just dies and wont turn on for at least 20mins then when it starts up it shows 0% battery and shuts down. then i power up again later and its back to halfway?
i have tryed resetting many times and nothing seems to work. I have also tryed putting the Null custom rom on and makes no differance. the watch is perfect apart from that. my thought is that the battery inside is stuffed from not being used for so long but not sure
thanks for ur input guys!
Matt
Does it get hot?
It may be shutting down due to excess heat, partic since you say it restarts later.
How long did you charge it for, I've read that a PC USB charge of 16 hours+ may be needed if the watch has been left sometime without charge.
Other than that it may mean that you need a new battery - sorry.
thanks very much for the advice. it was the battery. i replaced it and all seems ok now

Xperia SP dead

...well, mostly.
Started crashing sometimes weeks ago, but dunno if that's related. A few days ago it crashed completely on me, backlight on but no response to anything (OFF button included). Came home, battery seemed to drain, charged up just fine.
The next day - died again, some funky artefacts on the screen first, then same as the previous day except no backlight. Fixed when I came home that day too, started taking it apart and the LED started blinking red (= dead battery). Charged up fine; cleaned up my ROM/kernel too, updated etc., minimal app setup.
Next day again, fine in the morning, then a few crashes aaand dead. Took it apart completely, found out that I get *some* LED response if I unplug the battery and press down onto the motherboard.. Rebuilt it, booted up, crashed again. Seems to turn back on if I mess with it after a few hours, but battery charging is VERY slow (~50 percent in like 5 hours).
I'm going to try flashing stock when/if it comes back up, but I'm leaning towards hardware failure right now - either a damaged motherboard or bad battery.
Most likely getting a new phone anyway at this point, but I'd still be very thankful if anyone would know how to fix this and could share
Welp, that is indeed a very weird problem to me. Sadly I can't recommend anything
Sorry
my xperia sp need 5 hours until full charger:crying::crying::crying: and draining very fast, 2,5 hours only for browsing with data connection
