So on my original droid I was able to flash between 2.0 and 2.1 as long as I wiped data/cache. If we had clockwork recovery and backed up 2.1 before updating to 2.2 and then had a back up from 2.2 also could we in theory flash back and forth between the two or would the different baseband/kernal make that not work? Im loving having 2.2 again Im just curious for those working on porting themes.

Will zenexp rom work on a sprint hero 2.1 rooted.
Or does it only work on 1.5. Thanks
Yes it will. Almost any ROM should work on either 1.5 root or 2.1 root. Wipe everything via recovery, then flash the new ROM .zip and you should be good to go. Always nandroid backup first in case you don't like the new changes.
Currently I have a droid, with BB v1.1 on it along with DropTheme installed on it. What I want to do is, update my phone to 2.2 since it is currently 2.1, download and install the Sapphire rom for it, and put DropTheme back on it
How do I go about doing this? how do I update to 2.2? Do I just install 2.2, go to rom manager and install sapphire, then reinstall drop theme?
Help please. This stuff confuses the hell out of me.
Also, how do I back up my call log and contacts? Really don't wanna lose those in the move over. So far I backed up with rom manager and titanium backup but that is it.
Thanks!
Here's a question for all you multiple Captivate owners.
I have flashed over to Cognition 2.3b6 and want to backup (disk image) my 1st Captivate (wife's phone) by creating an image file using ROM Manager.
I then want to take that backup image from the first Captivate and restore that image onto Captivate #2 (my phone).
Will that install the OS and all apps from Captivate #1 on #2? Or will that cause problems for Captivate #2?
Has anyone tried this?
Thanks

I would not suggest this. It is very risky and likely you will be in some deep sh**. Nandroid backups should only be restored ufo you are on that rom. Meaning you are on cog but want to try perception. Run the backup of cog, follow steps to flash perception but you do not like it. Flash back cog restore backup to get your settings the way you had them
Stock is 2.1 most cogs are 2.2 with lag fixes. This can not be done as you proposed
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
NO DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!
This will cause the phone to brick just like if you try to restore a phone from 2.2 to stock 2.1 with a nandroid backup. Just do it the normal way.
Edit: The above has been tested by the way.
I have a hero with cm6 flashed, and I upgraded that line to an evo and that's all fine. But I want to give my hero to my daughter but when they tried to enter the ##code## it wouldn't work. Do I need to restore to my backup before I flashed CM6 or is there an easier way?
You need to flash a sense based ROM for ##codes#
If that backup file you're referring to is a nandroid from the stock hero, then yes restore that AFTER making a nandroid backup of CM6
Thanks, that did it. I was able to enter the ##codes and get the number reprogrammed.
I have seen a few people mention the need to flash a 2.1 sbf when wanting to change from a froyo rom back to an eclair rom. I had been using various 2.2 roms (mostly shadowmod and APAC) but had strange issues with my screen changing funky colours so I just restored my original 2.1 from the nandroid I made before I applied any custom roms.
Am I going to run into any problems with files hanging around and screwing things up doing it this way?

No problems at all, a nandroid backup is like a ghost or acronis disk image, it fully restore the device to the exact state it was at the moment of the nandroid backup.
Perfect, many thanks.
Those funky colors are from the DSI erros, but the new CM7 ROM has an option to avoid those DSI errors and the new Miui ROM has it buildin. So if you want to use GB then I recommend those ROMs
