[Q] MP4 recording on froyo manually updated... - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

uh....
I just recorded a video after the OTA upate, and I found out it is a 3gp file...
But before the OTA update, when I had froyo updated manually, I had record some videos and they are all MP4...
Anyone can confirm that the OTA, after the froyo update leaked, is the cause of the change??
Thanks

Received an F/W update from Samsung Yesterday!!! India

Hi All,
Im on the Official ICS ROM INDIA...4.0.3 DDLP4
Yesterday, when i checked kies, there was an update waiting (No Update on OTA). The downloading of firmware was taking ages to download(3.2mbps connection) and after about 70 percent the downloading stopped and Kies said "Connection stopped"....
Any body who has downloaded the F/W can you please post the change log (If you find any).. I mainly wanna know, if the laggness of the lock screen and slowness to open contact's and capturing pics has been rectified.

Ah glad that i have company.sad at the same time!! Even i have the same problem after the 7mb OTA update. The andriod process closes often and hangs the phone. The phone was literally unusable. Hence i tried to install custom gingerbread rom on it. Now its almost completely bricked. How irresponsible is samsung to roll these things out without testing it thoroughly.
***PLEASE DON'T INSTALL THE 7MB ICS OTA UPDATE***
hopefully we can save some.
I also tried to update through OTA but it was failed and message popped up that do update through Kies. Now I got update through Kies and my firmware changed from DDLP4 to DDLPA. However I lost Root.
I also received the update notification. Downloaded the 7.8 mb update within a minute and asked for reboot. Everything worked fine and nothing special noticed. It just changed the build no. from IML74K.DDLPA to IML74K.DDLP8

you mean LP8 to LPA? check your kernel version date. if it shows 12 June then fine, else your kernel has not been updated.
Hey guys basically its stability update. my phone feels much smoother now. i updated OTA via wifi, i also faced update not installed issue and i found out the problem, basically we all root our device that means we change SU binaries so when updating phone OTA it checks for those binaries and if these binaries are not official OTA update get aborted. i solved this problem like this,
1) I have downloaded STOCK LP8 firmware from samobile.com when it released
2) As my phone is rooted my SU binaries are changed so OTA update is aborted.
3) So FLASHED Stock rom LP8 from PC ODIN which kept my all DATA, APPS intact i just lost my root and some mods like 15toggles status bar and so..
4)then i started updating my phone using S/W update in settings, its 7.85MB file.
5)In few minutes my phone is updated to LPA
6)Now i again rooted my phone and my all data apps are intact and mob is much improved in stability.
Hope this will help you guys.

kernel is definitely updated in LPA. just flash LPA ROM file using Odin.
I also agree with what mullarameez has pointed out. rooting might be the reason for kernel being skipped. because if u flash LPA with odin you will lose root and hence get the new kernel.
Is there a way to update Kernel without flashing the whole 650 mb rom?
with all the issues in ICS, i think it would be safest if you would flash using the whole LPA ROM. I know its a pain to download but worth it in the end.
OMG! just a 7Mb update took 2hrs to download.. Hmmmm...
My main prob was with Lock screen, camera and contacts.. Noting has been resolved on this new Update!!!
what is the issue? is it lag?
This is confusing..
I have everything stock on my phone..All updates done OTA since i bought the phone..Not rooted..
Still the kernel says 12 May after the 7mb update..Why?? Although the deep sleep issue (sore point for me) seems to have been resolved after this update...
PS: The build info after *#1234# says 12 June, if that matters..
yes, almost all the users who updated OTA have the same issue. you may flash the new LPA using PC Odin from doc's post (anyways you're not rooted so no problem)

Update.zip?

Anyone know where I can get official firmware in ota update format? I want to play with some older builds but the PC method is a pain as it has no internet

Help with camera on stock .207 ROM.

I was looking for a way to boost sound in stock ROM to be great just like on 4.4 and and 5.1, I've flashed a dozen zip files with no enhancements at all until I decided to replace the snd_soc_msm_2x stock file and changed with the file but from a 4.4 ROM, results were great and I gained about 70% more louder sound. No problems until when i tried to record videos using the camera app,it gives me an unknown error and the video stops. Tested with 3rd party camera apps and got the same error. I know this bug is caused by the different sound file cause when I put the stock file video recording begin working again, can someone help solve this issue without returning back to the stock file? Maybe a line is causing conflict I don't really know.
snd_soc_msm_2x is a binary file.
It is made in accordance to the ROM version it should reside in.
Breaking the law of how things work, i mean, like using another version of binary for another version of Android is not a really practical way.
In other words, no, no one can do anything about that unfortunately.

Cannot manually install OTA and no OTA updates available

I just bought a new R1 HD Prime version. It's on 6.1, and the wireless update is showing that no updates are available. So I've tried manually downloading the OTA updates and applying them from local storage using the wireless update app, but I get an error message when attempting to do so (Signature verification failed). How am I supposed to update this phone? It's completely stock.
The only thing I've noticed is that the build time of what's on my phone is slightly different than what the 6.4 OTA says it's supposed to be updated from:
My build - BLU_R0010UU_V6.1_GENERIC 17-06-2016 14:53
OTA build - BLU_R0010UU_V6.1_GENERIC_6.0_20160617-1456
Notice the build time is different by 3 minutes. Is that maybe the source of the problem I'm having? I'm honestly at a loss here and I really want to get this phone updated.
Found out what the problem was with the manual OTA...I committed that cardinal sin of not opening up the zip file and realized I needed to extract update.zip I'm still not sure why the wireless update wasn't getting the OTA from 6.1 to 6.4, but once I was able to manually update to 6.4 I got the subsequent OTAs.

[XT1900-7] No media audio and stuttering video after LineageOS install

Yesterday, I tried to install LineageOS 15.1-nightly, but missed the need for the copy-partion.zip, resulting in an unresponsive phone. With support by people in the LOS IRC channel, I managed to blankflash the phone and redo the install, this time with copy-partition.zip. I decided against rooting or installing GApps, and the phone booted perfectly fine.
Today, after installing some apps, I noticed that media audio will not play (Notifications and ringtones work, tho.) and video playback is extremely sluggish/stuttering, no matter whether it's youtube or a video I recorded myself.
While I didn't find anything similar for the X4, I found threads with similar issues for other phones that pointed towards bad/wrong firmware.
Could this be a lingering results from the blankflash?
If so, how to best fix it? Is there a way to reflash with stock firmware? (I looked at threads on this, but was overwhelmed with the variety of fimware versions and unsure which would be the correct one for my phone.)
As you can probably tell, I'm not terribly well-versed in this, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, i am in the same situation like you right now. No Sound and very low FPS at Sound/Video playback.
First i installed LineageOS15.1 without the copy-partitions.zip.
After a reboot, my device was bricked but with the blankflash.zip i was able to repair my Motox4 and boot into twrp-recovery.
In TWRP I successfully installed the copy-partitions.zip and LineageOS15.1.
LineageOS seems to work really nice EXCEPT of Sound/Video playback. No Sound and very low FPS (Youtube Videos in Stock browser, Recorded Videos, etc.)
I Also tried different LineageOS15.1 and 16.0 versions including the newest LineageOS16.0 (lineage-16.0-20190312-nightly-payton-signed.zip) but the issue still exists.
Maybe someone has a clue what we could try to do Thank you

Buggy Phone Buddies!!! :highfive:
Exact same probleme here.
Moto x4 paython, XT1900-7.
blankflash was needed since the lineageos wiki did not mention the copy-partitions.zip.
Symptoms are: No sound (and very slow progressbar), low FPS for videos.
Right now my phone is garbage.
OK, I have it working now.
The solution was to install a stock android version or android one (I used android one).
After installing stock android like this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x4/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-official-factory-t3808348
flash lineageos (using copy-partitions.zip again!).

Oh, cool, I will try that!
Which version of the x4 do you have? Also the -7? If so which firmware did you use? (Looking through the dozen pretty cryptic links in that stock firmware page has me worried about picking the wrong one.)
I don't think that failure of flashing copy-partitions has that result. I haven't flashed copy partitions since returning to stock and applying ROMs after that... and my flashes all come out fine. Perhaps something else is happening. But yes, when in question, always flash back to stock. Then try again.
Ok, Update:
Today I flashed the Stock Rom and tested a random youtube video in chrome: Video playback and Audio worked fine.
I then flashed the current Lineage 16 nightly and tested it again: Same problem. I tried a youtube video, a downloaded mp4 video and a downloaded flac audio file, they all had no audio and the videos were very slow and stuttery. Youtube ****ery happened both in the default browser (I'm guessing Chrome or something?) and a current Firefox Klar I installed.
Additional weirdness: I also tried youtube playback on Torbrowser, where I think it falls back on HTML5 video or something, AND THERE IT WORKS!!!
Audio plays and Video playback is nice and smooth.
I ... don't get it.
Help?!?
I noticed the same thing yesterday with my xt1900-1. Video playback with chrome gas black lines and video appears to stutter. I tried the default browser and it appeared to be better. I'm currently using the 6/12nightly of lineage
Some more testing also showed additional wonkiness: Audio also doesn't work when using making a call.
Which ... makes it a but of a dealbreaker, tbh. :/
I had the same problem after installing LOS16.
New X4 1900-7 (Stock ROM) as described on the Lineage website installed the LOS16
(without "copy-partitions-payton.zip").
After booting, the smartphone was dead
Then as described here the smartphone repaired.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77847374&postcount=44
Then install the "copy-partitions-payton.zip" and install LOS16.
After the boot was no sound when calling or playing videos.
The videos were also played very stuttering.
I then installed the Stock ROM as described here.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x4/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-official-factory-t3808348
I used Stock Rom from here:
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/payton/official/
Stock ROM: XT1900-7_PAYTON_RETEU_DS_9.0_PPWS29.69-37-2_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
I did not use the flash-all.sh. I do everything step by step.
After the start of the Stock ROM OS, I checked call and videos.
The function was correct.
Then I reinstalled LOS16.
I proceed exactly as described here. (GAPS installation skipped).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWOBa88eJRs
Now the sound works in calls and videoas or MP3 files.
The smartphone works correctly so far,
only FM radio app does not work.
I have not found a solution yet.
