[Q] Mark SMS as read - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
When I receive an sms, I go into the thread with that person and reads the message on the sceen, then I reply. But the silly phone still thinks I havn't read the message. I have to click on the message for it be to marked as read. Any tips?

You have to actually hit the back button to tell the phone that you read the message. No other method for this AFAIK. Or you can try a messing app from the marketplace

SMS Messaging app error

I noticed today that the SMS Messaging app displays the word Sent and a time for text messages that have been received rather than sent. Is it just my Nexus One (FRF91) that is having a brain fart or do other see the same issue ?
It's telling you when the message was sent to you. It's working fine.
So a message that my phone has received is marked sent because someone sent it to me ? Android 2.1 marked it as received ?
I think it's a regression. It should say "Sent" for your messages and "Received" for your contacts' messages.
Also, when I get a SMS notification and select it from the notification bar it takes me to the list of SMS threads rather than the specific thread for the contact who just messaged me. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the behavior for Eclair and is another regression or a horrible UI decision.

is anyone else having a bug where when you click the first message in the messaging app and it is showing a completely different conversation? Ive been sending many messages to the wrong people because of that.

It is telling you what time the message was sent to you. I do agree that it should say Received but it's not a bug.

That has happened to me a couple times. I have always noticed, thankfully, before sending a text. Except for once when I accidentally texted one of my boys with a <3. lol

Auto deleting messages

Hey dudes
Every time I receive a new message it deletes the last message that was received from that contact. If I send a contact a message, it deletes the one that I sent last to them. Happens with all contacts. Tried uaibg Handecent SMS and same thing happens. And ideas without a hard reset. I basically have only 1 received and 1 sent from a contact at any given time.

SMS 'new message' notification won't clear

Hi.
I'm on Voda UK and my SMS notification won't clear, even after I've read the message. The notification light stops flashing, but I still show a (1) on the SMS icon. I cleared out all the texts the first couple of times to check there wasn't a message I had missed and it worked once the box was empty, but I don't want to keep doing that, for obvious reasons.
Is this a solvable problem? Ta!
Restart your phone.

I had the same problem too, only way to get rid of the sms notification counter was by deleting the text but next time it happens I'll try the restart option.
Does not help to restart phone...I have same problem!

I have restarted, removed battery, hard boot, still says I have 12 new messages and I have none. I have deleted all text messages, all mms, no luck!

For me, they are valuable messages, how can I retrieve them?

You may want to check your stock messaging app as any messages you sent or received from GoSMS, should also show up there.

Issue on Skype (missing send button)

Hi all,
I try to find some similar issues, but I don't.
I have the latest version of Skype for Android on my HTC One. But I cannot use the chat with smartphone in landscape mode. When I write a message the send button is hidden and if I click "Enter" it goes on a new line, do not send the message. The only way I have to send the message is to rotate again the smartphone, send button appear, so I can click it.
Is there someone else who have the same problem? Are there any action to solve it or some workaround?
Many thanks,
Rk
I can't replicate your problem. I get a send button both where it's supposed to be as well as in the pop-up text entry box. I did have problems with it staying connected so I have recently cleared data for it multiple times -maybe that fixed it.
