hi
my friend has a problem with galaxy s
he has jm3 rom, ryan lax fix 2.3 and cpu overclocked to 1.2 Ghz
Sometime his phone freeze and he has to remove the battery for rebooting the phone.
I have the same phone (italian version)with same rom, lagfix and overclocked but all works perfectly!
What could be?
thank you

Probably the overclock, not all devices can overclock as well as others.

[Q] phone just stuck when going over 1.2GHz with Super Optimized Kernel 4_7_0 kernel

Sorry if i post in the wrong place, but i can't post under the development thread because i do not have enough posts. I installed the Super Optimized Kernel 4_7_0 STABLE [01-26] kernel and I have Darky's V9 ROM. I have tried to overclock the phone over 1.2GHz and it freeze everytime. I tried it with Voltage control and with SETcpu an still the same. I tried with Darky's V8 lagfix on and lagfix off, and with Darky's V9. But it freezes every time. Do I something wrong or is it my phone? Sorry for my english .

It's probably your phone. Not every CPU can be overclocked. If your phone is freezing, then the CPU does not like being overclocked.
Not all CPUs are created equal. Some will overclock well, some won't.
Ian
that's what i think too. And the other thing with this kernel is that i get only about 1318 qudrant score when the phone is running on 1GHz, and only 1490 on 1.2GHz. And with the Voodoo kernel in Darky's rom i get 1490 point on 1GHz.

Dude.. the Ace can be overclocked, it just needs a modded Kernel. If you're so eager why don't you make that yourself..
i think sir nprussell will make an OC kernel for us

SAD
Its really sad that there is less support for Ace.. No Cyanogen Mod... No overclocking... where others are getting better support..

The good guys left because of idiots in this forum , they only know how to ask when and don't know when to be patient .
If I'm an Ace developer I would've done the modules .

Testing OC Speed
Using galaxy ace and my current stable OC is 921 MHz (quite hot when charging and using wi-fi at the same time) using paranoid android ROM galaxyics kernel ver 2.6.35.7
I'll keep it updated... (no tweaks YET)
*update* After reboot it is no longger becoming hot so it's safe
*update 2* 940 Mhz is safe (so far)

Back from the dead..
Ok..So that this dead thread is resurrected, why don't we ask the mod to lock it?
Woah.....The OP expects the Ace to be overclocked to 1.2 Ghz. We would be having a burning plastic brick in our hands...lol...!

940MHz is safe?
How about stable?
Sometimes by just running a benchmark i will reboot or FC

What do you really want to do with overclocking. and risking your phone. 800 mhz is slow, I agree, but its not bad enough for daily use.
The highest stable you should risk up to is 883 mhz.
Even 921 mhz is stable.
But higher than that is just overworking the processor.
If you really want your phone to be fast. Its not only done by overclocking. You should look over to scripts like Adrenaline Engine and stuff. Maybe even setting up zram, to up to 18%.
But risking your processor. Nope. Don't do it.

940 MHz is safe, but when my ace lags, it reboots (i was playing fruit ninja in multi-tasking with browser)... So i'm trying to find out why... I've set the min and max at 940 MHz, so the CPU is stable at 940 MHz...I'm trying to test 960 MHz, but it shutdown eventually and didn't gives me a bootloop when i set to 960, please be aware that i'm using maclaw's kernel and his ROM... I'm not responsible for any damage if you did what I did, but if you want to try do a NAND Backup then try it... if it goes with a bootloop simply wait, a few boots and the CPU will be back to 800 MHz, if it didn't simply reset it...
*update* gives me bootloop after a few minutes

CPU OCed to 1.5 GHz (MIUI)

Hi I find that in MIUI whenever the phone rebooted the CPU runs at 1.5 GHz. How do I change this besides doing set on boot on any CPU app.

This does not happen to me. I have SetCPU installed and am running @ 800 MHz. Whenever I reboot, it continues to use this setting
This is strange. I still have this problem. I got my phone on last monday itself and within the first hour i flashed MIUI. Then i saw that cpu was oced to 1.5 GHz, installed setCPU couldn't change the frequency even after granting root, then tried with CPUmaster that did the trick. Again some random reboot after a day and back with 1.5 GHz then CPUmaster also didn't work so installed no-frillCPU that allowed me to change the frequency. So far within three days i had three random reboots and no-frillCPU seems to work fine.
I rebooted the phone manually to check whether the issue is with random crash/reboot and found that the isssue persists. Seems to be built into the kernel itself as i have not done set on boot. Shall try with set on boot ? will this be safe ?

I'm using SetCPU in MIUI 1.11.11 with native kernel, SetCPU is working well. I Set to use 1209 MHz max and 122 MHz min for daily use (ofcourse setted onboot), and set several profile also.
No random reboot.
For changing frequency in SetCPU, just SLIDE ABOVE THE SLIDER, NOT ON THE SLIDER. Works for me.
I was in RC2, and flashed with 318E A02 just before MIUI 1.10.21 then MIUI 1.11.11 from the day released.
I did wipe from one ROM to others, except from MIUI 1.10.21 to 1.11.11....

Oh so that's the issue that I have to slide above the slider in setcpu. Anyways thanks both of u for the reply. Well m not trying that out happy with nofrills CPU. No more crash reboots. I am just loving MIUI and don't even had crossing thought of going to stock rom even though the incoming call volume issue persists. Any suggestions towards that end?

UC5.1 kernels worked well with all the ROMS (RC2, MIUI) but faced some problems with WiFi in edowar's latest ROM. But edowar's stock kernel can do 1.4 GHz so no point pushing it to 1.5 GHZ.
Just my 2 cents.

[Q] [HELP] CPU Only 600Mhz

I have only 600Mhz.
I cant overclock only underclock, even with OC-Kernel.
The problem is on Stock Firmware 2.3.3 and Costoum Roms.
Is there a Hardware-Bug or what else?
Not all chips are made to the same quality. They only have to reach a certain clock speed to pass quality checks. Certain devices can be overclocked due to being of higher quality.

Yes but the default clock of the ACE is 800Mhz right? But MY default clock is 600Mhz.
I dont have any options to overclock only from 124Mhz - 600Mhz.
The default clock of 800Mhz would be ok for me..
You sure its a ace? Galaxy fit / mini & 551 / europa are 600mhz MSM7227 vs 800mhz MSM7227-t 800mhz galaxy gio / ace.
Yes! Its definitely a ACE i have the Samsung box here .. and there are a big label Galaxy ACE "800Mhz CPU"
Which rom are you using? Did you have the same problem on stock rom?
Do you have setcpu, if you do go on Info ; CPU what does it say ; Cpu Part / Cpu Revision / Hardware / Revision ?
If problem presist then go to Samsung service centre and change your phone dude

Hi @Cr0nFixXx!...
It would seem to me that your problem is your Kernel... The details in your first thumbnail show the kernel to be that of a different dev to @Ketut...!!! Your OC Kernel details should read as this : 2.6.35.7-perf-CL562111 [email protected]#4
The frequencies of the Cpu are governed solely by the kernel, so this is without a doubt your limiting factor...
The below kernel is tried & tested by thousands of users & is stable under OC...(check my sig for details)...
You can download this kernel from my dropbox here : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/44779766/cm-7.1-oc-kernel-2.6.35.7-perf-CL562111.zip
Flash this kernel from CWM recovery... Reboot phone, go to cyanogen setting/Performance & you should get the full cpu range for OC...
To see stable max OC set governor to "Performance"... Remember, only increase cpu frequency a little at a time & test for stability before increasing further...
Only when you have found your max stable clock speed can you tick "set on boot"...
FYI : OC kernels can only be used with custom roms... They will not work with stock roms... @Ketut's OC kernel will only work with CM7.1 / 7.2 Roms... Do not try with any other rom...
Stay Breezy n Be Lucky...
Pe"ACE"...

Hey Dude...
This is a very strange problem indeed... The Armv6 cpu is standard 600mhz cpu but samsung factory OC it when it is used in our aces... so we end up with an end-user frequency of 806mhz... Yours won't even reach that out of the box...?
Do me a favour... Flash this rom here : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/44779766/IceCreamSundayFinal_Tweaked.zip
It is IceCreamSunday Final by @Jusada... It is considered the fastest & most stable rom available on XDA & the OC kernel is inclusive of the rom...
Once flashed, go to cyanogenmod settings, performance, cpu & tell me what frequencies you get offered...?
FYI : It doesn't matter what your baseband or firmware version is... Ensure that you are using CWM 5 to flash with... Also ensure that before flashing you do a full system, cache, data, Dalvik wipe to ensure a clean flash... This rom is 7.2 btw...
Stay Breezy n Be Lucky...

I dont know whats my phones problem but it dont worked for me -.- even max. 600Mhz...
But great thanks for your help!
LoL the first thing that entered my mind is "maybe samsung forgot to overclock" my suggestion is go to samsung and tell them to overclock that.. or simply say it's defective
approach samsung and get new phone..
man if it showing 600 dont overclock
as overclock can damage your cell
be happy with what you are having

but he should get 800 which he paid for
hey wait isnt ace's cpu like the 600mhz ones but only OC'ed to 800?
I'm done explaining
A fault with the processor probably.. ARMv6 anyway has 600Mhz by default and Ace has been factory overclocked to 800Mhz.. which is the simple reason why each Ace is so different and has so many problems regarding battery life. Overclocking is a delicate procedure..
To the point:
Just take it to the service center to get what you paid for!

up to 1.2 ghz but not sure if there is a kernel for gb. on froyo though you can go up to that number safely
Maybe something changed since then..
Is there a way to overclock the OB on GB?
No, new nova kernel promised oc but it is delayed.
Zeus v6 has one
Sent from derp-mobile
Yes with zeus you can but use with caution the overclock is bad for android you reduce the life time of phone

i'm running zeus v6 right now..
going to try the overclock, just for fun..
already tried 1100 mhz, nice increase on benchmark but the feeling is the same..
just going to try some speeds but will probably stay on safe speed.
I did overclock with zeus V6 up to 1.2 GHz, but the maximum is 1.3 ghz, but not appropriate to use this speed, I think ...
But the difference is not much.
With oc and antutu i've 2997 score
Sent from LG-P970 using zeus v6 1,1Ghz
Guys I'm quite new to oc, previously I just tried it in nova so I just want to ask if it can do some to damage to the phone on long term basis? Or basically it is safe as long as you stay in the safe range ( 1.1-1.2)?
processor
U used nova for some time and i even overclocked mine to 1.2 after i used cm7 for a long time and about 3 monts ago my phone sudendly dont pass of LG logo i tried everything including kdz method and nothing work, i send it to warranty when he came the girl of the store say he just got a new processor, the old one didn t work, since that day i think a lot before overclock him again
You must verify the temp (°c) before o/c when the phone is too hot the o/c damage it. And i think 1,2Ghz isn't very stable.
Sorry for my english ,i'm french
Send with Zeus v6 the lightning power in you're P970
If you're on zeus go to Terminal Emulator then type su to gain superuser access, now type zeus and there it is the Zeus Script, there you can overclock and do other tweaks to your phone.
Hope it helps!

i think personally the maximum to oc zeus v6 would be up till 1250, i tried pushing it to 1300 and got bootloop
Did anyone already set it to lets say 1.2 ghz, then reboot a couple of times, since dvfs should set higher voltages then and then set an even higher frequency? Maybe this would allow you, to go even higher
