Just a simple question if anyone is willing to help
How do I keep my phone on landscape all the time?
I have tried going to "settings -> align screen -> landscape" but everytime i close my keyboard goes back to portrait mode . Some say it's due to "clear type" i turned that off and still keeps going back to portrait [I do lot of texting]
So if anyone has any ideas and would like to pass on plz 'n thanks
If you rotate the screen in closed-keyboard(portrait) to landscape,it keeps all the time in LS mode all the time after(keyboard in/out doesn't matter).. You can do it using mortscript,SPB PocketPlus or in a different way.
I have got a opera mobile 9.7 beta and when you rotate screen on landscape with this software and press home button, your screen will be still on landscape
// It is some BUG of opera, but you can use it

And also i found program called GSen ot rotates your touch pro !
If you have sk tools (probably even the free version), use the shortcut manager to create a landscape mode shortcut, then copy it into \windows\startup. You should be good to go.

I will give this a try thanks bud
In changeScreen you have the choise which orientation you want to use by default. And you can make exceptions. For example, I hate it when bubble breaker starts a new game when I tilt my phone to far, so I've set it up in a way it only uses portrait.

hehe im trying to do the exact opposite
I want tf3d to be in portrait all the time, regardless of keyboard in or out.
If i figure out how, ill let you know because it should be easy then to convert to landscape only.

any luck bud?
Nope sorry
I had another thread going and their were a few suggestons but it didnt make any difference.
why not just use screenchanger 2.8 and set default only 2 the landscape of your choice (dont know if ur right or left handed)???
if u chose "enable" and "run on startup" wouldnt that fix everything w/o out using some stupid glich?
all the programs that i have used like gsen etc, dont override the keyboard slide. It seems to have some hardwired switch which overrides all of those programs and forces landscape, and then back to portrait when you slide it back in.
Is there any way to manually make Opera go to full screen while browsing if 'Auto Full Screen' is turned off? Failing that is there any way to change the delay for 'Auto Full Screen' to enable it to wait longer before it goes to full screen? I find it 'full screens' too quickly.
Also, and I'm embarrassed to say this , but I find it hard to click links on web pages. I have to zoom in and then do a slow double tap to activate the link. A lot of the time I will end up bringing the context menu up instead of activating the link. What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks for any input
Marc

Send back to HTC
sent from my ics device
Could someone give some input on this? I think my Incredible S is having the same problem. Regardless of whether the phone is on or off, whenever I insert the battery, the backlights of the bottom 4 buttons are half-lit, in a landscape mode.
When I turn on the phone, those half-lit shades are visible along with the normal portrait mode backlights.
I am using CyanogenMod 7.1, although I doubt it is something related to the ROM. As I have just said, the shades are there even when the phone is turned off.

Might be a kernel issue. How is your phone unlocked?
Post your kernel version: settings>about phone>kernel version.
The kernel is Tiamat_IncS-v1.1.4. I have been using that for quite a while now.
The original hboot was HBOOT-2.00.0000 S-On. Unlocked via HTCdev. Then got complete S-Off using your method in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697

I installed the Tiamat 1.1.4 on my cm7.2.0 rc1 setup and I'm not getting any softkey rotation. Have you installed any softkey mods/scripts/etc?
No, I am not using any mod or script. Actually what I am getting is not softkey rotation. The keys are half-lit always (phone on or off, as long as the battery is there) and the alignment of the keys are as it would be in landscape mode.
When actual softkeys are on, they appear in portrait mode as usual and above those landscape 'ghost' softkey lights.
So then the menu key looks like a checkered box instead of 4 horizontal lines.
The problem appeared a week ago and I have not done any ROM, kernel, radio change in a month.

Hard to imagine it being anything other than a hardware issue..
The landscape led brightness can be controlled by modifying the file:
/sys/class/leds/button-backlight-landscape/brightness
Probably easiest using a root file explorer. This file will contain one number and it should be 0 (off). The range is 0-255 (min-max). Have a look/play with this file to see if it does anything to your leds.
Thank you for your reply. I am now almost certain that the problem is hardware related.
However I could not edit /sys/class/leds/button-backlight-landscape/brightness. I used ES File Explorer, but it seems it doesn't allow me to edit the file, even after allowing full read-write access.
Is there any way to edit this file from adb/fastboot?

I'm also using ES. In my options both root explorer and mount file system options are checked and I'm opening the file with ES note editor. Hope this helps.
I was able to open the file using that method. But I cannot change the value.
Any idea, please?

In terminal
Code:
su
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight-landscape/brightness

You can't modify the file, because it is in read only mode. give-it rw access and you'll be able to edit-it.
Also, if you want to make sure that it is an hardware problem, it's probably easier to restock you device. Just make a nandroid backup, reinstall the stock boot loader and o/s and see if the problem persist.
Hi,
My P7 does not have lock screen, instead of this, loads an annoying app called P7 (which comes with stock ROM).
Any of you have an idea to enable lock screen? In settings->security->lock screen, option appears in grey and it is unselectable
I have updated to B126 to check if there was an issue with my stock rom, but it is the same.
Thank you

I'll take a guess here that you have the default magazine slideshow lock.
Go into the theme app and click customize them you can change the lockscreen style to one that allows widgets etc.
It took me a little to figure it out also when I got my phone.

No, i dont have any lock screen. When i press power off button to go to lockscreen, by default, the P7 app appears with a lot of spam about huawei. If i disable this app by settings->applications->p7->disable, when i press power button, screen goes black and when i press again, instead of see the typical lock screen, i see the desktop directly

Please take a screenshot of what you mean.
This was already discussed before, use the search button next time.
Your phone is in demo mode, used for demostration in shops.
Try method post #20 first, if it doesn't work do the steps in post #18.

Not at all, but I learnt about demo mode, and I was able to find the app in /cust/hw/demo, so I removed this and then I did a factory reset
Upgraded to .153 yesterday (Slovenia). Since, I cannot enter home screen editing mode. I tried to touch and hold on an empty part of the home screen for 30 sec or longer, but nothing happens... it just doesn't enter editing mode. I can remove icons from or add to home screen, though.
Am I missing something? Has this been changed?
Uros
I've read elsewhere that you should pinch the home screen?
Pinch out
Happend to me too
What I did is I've restarted the phone once more after the update has been installed. Works perfectly fine.
