I can't bring up the keypad while in calls. - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed Spike's x1.5 rom, and now I'm not able to bring up the keypad while in calls for when i need to dial in numbers for automated services and entering pins. I really need this in order to pay my bills. I've tried everything (hardware keyboard, software keyboard, out of call dialer, etc.) and none of these will enter in numbers while I'm in a call.

Hence the meaning of a call log...it tells you exactly who you called and when. I don't think there is a fix for this but you can always change the options in the menu to show you what you want....for example. Missed Calls, Outgoing Calls, ect....
I was quite annoyed with this in the beginning. On the original ATT dialer, if you press the d-pad down instead of going to call logs it will show you the last several calls before going to your contacts list. This is what I usually used when I was using this dialer. This in turn is compacting your call log to the calls the you dialed or just received.
Hope this helps

[Q] Dialing Within A Call?

Today I tried to call a customer service number for a business on my Captivate - you know the ones, press 1 for English
Anyway, once I made the call, I figured out how to and pulled up the dial pad within the call and hit the number for my selection... Nothing happened. I tried this multiple times and the computer on the other end acted like I didnt do anything. I tried calling my cell providers customer service knowing they had a similar system, and they too couldnt recognize my key strokes to enter my mobile number.
Has anyone else had this problem? Its like the phone isnt broadcasting the tones over the line while dialing or something. Am I doing it wrong, or is this just a problem my phone has? Very odd...

Mine works fine. I use it everyday to check my work voicemail.
I don't have any issues dialing within a call either.

You're not going home and re-entering the dialer program are you?
The best way is to go to speaker phone so you can hear it then hit dial pad from the call screen.
If you go to the home screen you are still in the call but hitting the phone icon will let you find or edit contacts, but will not broadcast unless you hit the call button but I don't think it will broadcast to the active phone call, it would likely try to start a 3-way.
from the home screen you must return to the call from the status bar.

The problem seems to have fixed itself, as it worked the next day to dial an extension to get a hold of my girlfriend at work. Very odd. My procedure was to dial the number, then while in the call look at the screen and hit the button for "dial pad' which of course brings it up. Then, enter the numbers I needed to enter.

I have had this before on another phone
It was likely because of a bad signal. It was just strong enough to reveive the signal but not strong enough to have your phone communicate to the tower. Thus on the other side of the line they never got the tones even though they were being dialed. Considering it did not happen again it appears this is the most likely cause.

[Q] Alphabet on keypad during calls?

My company has several different plants that I must call on a regular basis. Most of the time I'll call the 800 number and the press 2 which allows you to punch in the first few letters of the person's last name that you're trying to reach and it will give you their extension. Well recently I flashed a froyo rom and I can no longer see the alphabet on the keypad during phone calls. Prior to being connected it's fine...letters on the keypad. But in call...nada. Has anyone else noticed this and if so is there a fix?
Try dialer one, its on the market. Not sure but its worth a try its free.

Hand-free dialing and Google Voice prompt

I've searched and searched, but because the terms are ambiguous, I haven't been able to find a solution to this.
So, I appear to be one of the only people in the world who sets Google Voice to prompt to dial "with or without Google Voice" when initiating a call. When I place the call from the dialer, it's not a problem. I just choose one or the other and I'm on my way. When I'm dialing with hands-free via Bluetooth, I long-press the button on the earpiece, then say who I want to call, and then there is silence. The phone screen will actually go off, because that's what normally happens when you start a call. The screen also locks. And that doesn't even count choosing to dial with or without Google Voice.
So basically, here are the steps to dial a call via Bluetooth, when using Google Voice, set to prompt:
1) Long-press the button on the earpiece
2) Say "Call so-and-so, mobile/home/work/etc"
3) Press power button to turn screen back on
4) Slide to unlock the phone screen
5) Choose whether to dial with/without GV
The last three steps kind of defeat the purpose of hands-free dialing. I don't like to even touch my phone when my car is moving, so my only other alternative would be to choose to always or never use GV when dialing outgoing calls. It seems like it would be simple (for someone who writes phone apps) to add in a prompt to use/not use GV. This could of course interface with an API easier than you would (power button, unlock screen, choose dial method).
Along those lines, it would be nice to be able to say the number "One" when accepting a Google Voice call, as I have it set to not automatically answer when a GV call comes in (this allows me to screen calls).
I've got my fingers crossed that someone else has gone through this and has found a solution.
Oh, and I'm currently rooted on Liberty 2.0 on .886. If flashing will help, I would definitely be up for that.

google voice not working on 5.1

Hi
I searched and couldn't find an existing threat to this, thats why I ask.
I got a replacement Not4 after I had a bunch of problems. Since I work internationally I use Google Voice a lot.
I pushed the update out as far as I could until I gave in last week. What a mistake.
I have extreme lags, keyboard freezes, and Google voice stopped working. I can not make international calls with Voice.
I am not offered the choice to use it. It automatically uses Tmobile. If I force it, same result. I know many people had the problem,
but everyone fell silent. Was there a solution I did not get?
Any help is greatly appreciated
If you root the phone you can install a 5.0.1-based ROM that works with Google Voice. I'm running Rapture on my phone for that very reason.
Two options with your current rom:
Use Google Hangouts to dial your calls. This will use data instead of voice minutes, and the call quality may be different.
Or, install Voice Choice 2.0 and have it force all calls to be dialed through your GV number. It takes longer to dial calls this way, and your outgoing call log will only show your GV number, not the numbers you actually called.
Details on the Voice Choice method can be found in this thread. (Search the thread for Voice Choice.)
Google and T-Mobile know about this issue and we can only hope they are working on a solution.
